I ordered doordash from here. The vegan pho was good and hit the spot but not the best broth I've ever had. Still good! Full of veggies! Star of the show was the shaken tofu-- I HAVE NEVER HAD A DISH LIKE IT. Omg. I inhaled it. It was so beautiful and so tasty!!!! The lemongrass comes through so perfectly. Spring rolls are HUGE! and tasty! Only one recommendation ( and reason for 1 star less) for the management: my shaken tofu arrived in the plastic to go tray and had leaked oil all over the inside of the paper bag and probably my driver's seat too. Just advice to please change the container to something airtight. I'm saddened by the loss of the sauce that could have been consumed but it probably all over my doordasher's car lol read more

I've been here so many times and the food is always fresh and delicious. The decorations and location of the restaurant is very fun, lots of outside seating. It's in an area where you can get dishes from multiple establishments and share them, that's always fun. I will say that the service was a bit slow, it felt like the staff was a bit preoccupied with certain guests and it took awhile to take our order. read more

I'd been hearing about Friendship Kitchen for a while and last night we finally tried it out. We are glad we did! It is located among a group of other small restaurants. It's a bit like a stationary food truck. You order at a counter and they bring you your food. They have both vegetarian and meat dishes available and we got a mix of them. The vegetarian had plant based "meat" that was pretty good, if a bit chewy. I got the Shaken Beef and others in our group got salad rolls, shaken "chicken" and "chicken drumsticks". We all enjoyed what we ordered, except the salad rolls which were too heavy on greens and a bit under seasoned. We also ordered a Thai tea and a passion fruit and coconut icy drink. Both were delicious. The service was quite slow. My husband stood in line to order a drink and saw our food sitting under the hot lamps the whole time. Great patio atmosphere, food was average. My bride and I came on a Sat night around 6:30 and were able to get seated on the patio. The place started to fill up quickly shortly after we arrived. You ordered at the counter and they bring it out to you on the patio. It's a shared patio with two other adjacent restaurants. My bride ordered the Wholesame Plate w/chicken ($18) and I went with the Abundance Bowl w/chicken ($18). We both commented that the actual meals weren't anything to write home about. Seemed on the bland side lacking flavor. My bride also commented about the small serving of pickled vegetables (outlined on the menu). Not at all family friendly, FREEZING cold, faulty barstools and high prices. Super fun vibe. They try to channel their inner Miami wishes (we all wish for beaches and palm trees with neon signs and rap music at high volumes dropping the F* bomb every 3rd word). But, maybe they could focus a bit more on the rest of it? Had to role-play Goldilocks and change out the chair 3 times to find one that I didn't feel was going to break. All they have is bar seating but yet a short high chair. They suggested we could sit outside at the picnic tables and even offered to turn the propane heater on but in the middle of winter, I was already freezing inside. I absolutely appreciated the offer though. Speaking of which...it's a shared space so the bathroom is down and around the corner of the building so if it's cold or rainy...be prepared. The food was good. The best I've had in Portland? No. But, if a friend wanted to go for a bowl, I'd be down. Delicious meal at Friendship Kitchen! I sat outside by the heated lamps with some friends. I ate the Bún Bò Huế and the gluten-free chicken wings. Both were wonderful, especially the wings. I typically don't order Bún Bò Huế everywhere because not all places do it justice, but Friendship Kitchen's is solid; I'd certainly order it again! The service was also good. Walked over here for a Sunday lunch. This is an order at the counter type of place. Super friendly service with some indoor and more outdoor dining. We chose to sit at an outside table because it was such a warm and sunny day. The coco margaritas were beautiful and refreshing. We visited Friendship Kitchen just this afternoon and it lived up to its name! The server was very friendly and the overall vibe was relaxed and cheerful. Most of the seating is outside picnic tables (all covered) with a small bar area inside. We ordered the Abundance Bowl with beef, Salt and Pepper Shrimp, BBH which is a spicy lemongrass soup, and N/A Passionfruit Piña Colada. The drink was absolutely the star of the show! I would literally have 5 more if I could. It made you pucker with a bit of tartness that was quickly balanced out by the sweet creaminess of the coconut. I also loved the Abundance Bowl for its flavor and freshness. The BBH was good but insanely spicy if the chili oil is added so be careful. Shrimp were yummy but a little hard to eat since they're fried with the heads, legs, and exoskeleton in tact. Overall, the food was very flavorful and well cooked. We paid $66 for all of those items, which I felt like was reasonable. We ended up taking home two containers of food, so really I think two dishes would've been more appropriate for us. If anything, you can get two meals out of it. I think prices need to be updated on their website so be aware of that when you go. I have a feeling this is a place where a lot of locals go since parking is scarce and a lot of people walk or bike. The neighborhood is cute and the cluster of restaurants that Friendship is a part of are all very quaint. As someone who doesn't live in that area of Portland, I don't know if it stood out enough to go back to, but if you're in the area, it's a great option! read more

I asked folks in the Yelp community for suggestions of excellent women-owned restaurants in the Portland area, and Friendship Kitchen was by far one of the most popular responses! As Women's History Month comes to a close, I thought it would be fun to gather with some friends for lunch this past weekend. I'm so thankful to my Yelp friends for suggesting such a fantastic restaurant. It was raining; a gusty and blustery Saturday afternoon, and I was in the mood for a big bowl of pho. The menu is full of temptingly creative, elevated SE Asian dishes like crispy crepes, pho, laksa, lemak, etc. From the looks of the menu and photos posted online, a lot of attention to detail is placed on presentation. The food looks beautiful and lovingly prepared. Guests order at the bar inside the small interior, then have the option choose between a few barstools, or the extensive seating under a covered area in front of the restaurant. There are firepits and patio heaters to help keep folks warm during the cooler months, and plenty of picnic tables to seat a large crowd. The outdoor seating is divided between three restaurants that all share the same order inside-eat outside structure. I found it entertaining to watch food being delivered from the other two restaurants, both of which I'd like to try in the future. Between the three of us, we ordered pho, bánh mì, and bún; a classicly Vietnamese selection. Everything was served promptly, expertly plated, and tasted divine. My pho was rich and flavorful, the noodles were boiled to my liking, and all of the toppings were fresh and abundant. I tasted my friend's lemongrass chicken bánh mì and it was the best I've ever had. The meat was juicy and flavorful, and the sandwich had the perfect ratio of meat to veggies. As for the bún, it was flavorful, beautifully plated, and filling. Not to deter anyone from this great dish, but I'm not sure how it can be taken to the next level in terms of wow-factor. It needs a little something extra to make it shine alongside the other outstanding dishes at the restuarant. I really enjoyed my experience at Friendship Kitchen, and thank the folks in the Yelp community who suggested I visit. This is one of my new favorite spots in Portland. Everything on the menu is fire and they have some great healthy options as well. The impossible rolls, the abundance bowl, the pho broth, and so much more are all winners. True to their name the atmosphere at Friendship Kitchen is always welcoming. Even when they're super busy the staff is friendly and attentive. My favorite thing on the menu is hands down the garden rolls, always fresh and delicious. Love the tofu chay, but the chicken is also really good. I love dried rice and menu only states that it has green onions and eggs (which is how I like it) so when I got it and it had the grandma mixed veggie mixed I was highly irritated. I would not have gotten it. Who wants Lima beans , corn, and green beans in your fried rice. I got it with chicken. The chicken was fine. The portion size was okay. The dream rolls were just okay. The fried roll portion didn't really give much flavor to the roll or much impossible meat. Would not get again. I wasn't impressed for $30 for two items(without tip) I didn't eat the left overs. I've heard raving reviews of this restaurant and as a Vietnamese person, I was a bit worried that it would be an "Americanized" version of Vietnamese food, and not authentic but I was pleasantly surprised! I came with a big group (10+ people) for an event and the staff was so so sweet and accommodating (they did not take reservations). Food and drinks were served promptly, and nothing was missed despite so many things being ordered. One thing to note is that there really isn't indoor seating here--there's only outdoor seating (with heaters and covers), so depending on the vibe you want for dinner or company you have, you may or may not want to come here. But, the food was phenomenal. Portions were perfect and definitely on the bigger side--not overpriced at all. I love how diverse their menu is and how they can make so many dishes vegan/vegetarian. Everything is plated beautifully and overall, I just had an amazing time here. Highly highly recommend. They have really great food and cocktails and the patio is a great spot to grab a bite on a warm day (bur, they do have a covered area so you could do the same on a rainy day!) I've always been reluctant to have Chinese or Vietnamese food outside of 82nd because they're all for show with good presentation but lack in flavor and authenticity, and that's the same case with this restaurant. The service was good and they had good presentation but that was it. The dishes are more expensive, not as good, and smaller portion. The bo ne only had a few pieces of meat and some pate, two eggs and a baguette for $23 which I think is really pricey for what you're getting. The salt and pepper squid also only had a few pieces, mainly batter. It is Vietnamese and LGBTQ+ owned so if you're looking to support Vietnamese/LGBTQ+ business owners I guess you can come here, but if you want good Vietnamese food, I'd go elsewhere. read more

They're located in the complex at 24th and Glisan, near to a bunch of other favorite PDX businesses. They've got a tiny interior with a couple of bar stools, but a large covered patio with heaters and hanging lanterns. Amazing on a sunny summer day, and actually pretty cozy on a rainy winter day. The food is delicious. It's a relatively small menu but there are options for meat eaters and vegetarians alike. The portion size is huge but I absolutely devoured the tofu because it's that good. It was a pretty busy Friday night, and there was a food mix-up in the kitchen. We waited around an hour for our food-- kind of a bummer. BUT they comped our dinner, which was much appreciated, and the quality of the food itself was so good. The beef was incredibly soft and delicious and the veggies that came with it were so crisp and fresh and yummy. The thai tea was tasty and sweet as well. Eating outdoors in the kind of communal restaurant setting was new for me, as I'm visiting from Vegas, but I found the setting really fun and refreshing. The staff made the experience a lot more tolerable and the hour-long wait for the food felt like no sweat due to how awesome the food itself wound up being.
