We had finished the Aerial Tram and we're starving, so we popped into this cute Vietnamese restaurant for lunch around 1pm on a Saturday. It's so cute inside I took pictures. Industrial furnishings and cool murals, this is unique for an ethnic place. I ordered my standard chicken vermicelli bowl, no bean sprouts, no peanuts. Husband chose a beef pho. Both were solid, with plenty of meat and good preparation. Husband had never had the Pho broth before and really enjoyed the rich spices in the soup. The fresh toppings were the perfect garnish although he did not use all of the bean sprouts. My chicken was all dark meat but very well prepared, nice fish sauce vinaigrette and fresh vegetables with tender rice noodles. I hate pho, so had to be dragged here the first time. But their other food (especially crazy noodles, garlic string beans, & roasted Brussels sprouts) was really excellent. We were walking around downtown and decided to check this place out since we keep passing it from the NS trams. You order at the counter, grab a table number, and sit wherever. The vibes inside the restaurant were very family friendly and a good place to have a conversation. We got the beef pho and for the price, it was honestly disappointing. The broth, the most important part of pho in my opinion, lacked depth and was too salty for my preference. The noodles were also overcooked and had no chew to them. The portion size was pretty big and had a substantial amount of protein in them so that was good! As a note for improvement, I noticed that my water cup had some sort of residue on the inside of the glass that I could scratch off. Standard menu for quick ordering upon entering with self serve water & self bussing. Easy lunch for the walkable workforce. The pho ~ a lot of nudos and little meat. If you want to warm up by sipping, make sure to ask for less noodles/more broth and to make it extra temperature hot otherwise you will settle for just warm. A bit pricey compared to the joints in the northeast but it is downtown. The regular annoyance are individuals who will take up a large table all for themselves. I came here for PHO & PHO only! I am so disappointed. I came here today for work lunch and I ordered the beef pho for $16.97. I taste the broth first before I add anything on and oh my not so good at all! What is this? My real question is who really made the broth!??? It is not flavor full at all I felt like I just sipped water and salt. Where is the cinnamon? Where are the aniseeds? Where is the beefy taste from beef bones? I don't really taste any of that. This is not even close to authentic pho. It's very mediocre for the price. Came here on a Sunday afternoon, wasn't too busy. This place has an ordering counter. Food came out super fast. Had the vegetarian Salad Rolls and crispy rolls. The salad rolls, albeit simple, were so yummy. The tofu I think was fried so it had a great crunch and along with the freshness of the veggies it was light and yummy. The crispy rolls were also very enjoyable, and they weren't overly oily like some fried rolls can be. We also love their Salad Rolls so fresh. Chicken Rolls are bomb. Normally get dumplings & steamed buns too. Let's not forget their Pho! Best in town. We actually live in Spokane and figure out a way to work PVF into every trip to Portland! If we can't physically get to their restaurant in the Pearl (try to- we love it) we'll order Door Dash. The first time was on Saturday, October 26th 2024 and the second time was last Saturday, February 1st 2025. Both times, I had an hour before my train back to Seattle, and I ordered the same things - Eggplant Bahn Mi sandwich, and a Cucumber Cilantro Margarita. It was simply delicious and lovely! I was attended by this awesome gentleman in the store - Kaiden. The sandwich was tasty, gooey, and very good. The margarita was strong and brought a big smile on my face. Thankfully, I wasn't driving back. The next time that I visit Portland, I am going to throw in one more trip to this place.
