Wow! 5/5 The food was incredible...definitely as good as Din Tai Fung and Dough Zone. The XLB, spicy wontons were perfectly formed, juicy and flavorful. The special dry fried spare ribs were big and flavorful. The lychee cocktail and pear martini were a fun addition and worth the cost. 4/5 service. We came at 11 PM and the waiters were not attentive and we had a long wait to get seated despite empty tables. 3/5 sketchy neighborhood. It's not Xin Ding's fault but this neighborhood at night makes you second guess leaving your car on the street. On the plus side it's free parking at late night!

Nothing negative to say about Xin Ding. Tasty food, really nice space, good service. We'll bookmark this place for future visits to Portland.

I came here on a weekend evening, and it was decently busy but there was no wait time to get a table and sit down. The service was pretty good, but the food could have been better. The pork xiao long baos were alright at first, and I liked how thin the wrappers were. The top swirl felt extra thick and was chewy, so I didn't enjoy eating that part. The flavor wasn't bad at first, but the more I ate, the more I realized the soup could have used more seasoning. The shrimp shu mai was pretty bad. I couldn't taste any shrimp flavor and could only feel little crunchy bits I was chewing on. There was minimal flavor in them, and even though I hardly ever eat my food with soy sauce and vinegar, I needed to dip the shrimp shu mai in the soy sauce and vinegar to make it palatable enough to eat. I don't think I'll return here. The only reason why this review is two stars is because of the service and the atmosphere.

Huge restaurant, extremely busy serving delicious meals to share! Food was very good! Seasoned well, the dried pot was even spicy and huge portions to share. Dimly lit place but clean and welcoming. Perfect place for wholesome asian food, family-style

We ordered delivery so I cannot speak to the cleanliness or friendliness of the restaurant and staff. Our food was delivered on time. We ordered the chicken broccoli, pork fried rice, beef chow fun and shrimp dumplings. Everything was packaged well. The shrimp dumpling and chicken broccoli were the highlights with the fried rice a close second. The beef chow fun lacked taste even though the beef was very tender. I'd definitely like to try more of the dumpling options on our next visit.

came here for a Friday night dinner. Big restaurant not super busy but I love all the food options they offer. food was okay not the worst not the best. Best thing we tried was the Dan Dan noodle. XLB tasted a bit odd almost like it was frozen, it would fall apart after a bite :( . Have def had better but it got the job done. Service was ok and nothing really stood out when it came to the inside decor. Solid restaurant if you are looking for some good Chinese food in Portland and really cool that they have a bar. Honestly gives more bar type restaurant with a side of Chinese food.

I often come here when in the mood for Chinese food. The ambiance is comfortable, with a blend of traditional and modern. The staff is very attentive. The food has always been delicious. I am fond of the chow mein, Dan Dan noodles, and Mongolian beef.

Everything is fresh, flavorful, and 100% worth the wait. This is the kind of place where patience pays off in deliciousness. If you like spicy food (aka cool humans only ), you must ask for the chili oil -- and pro tip: request it extra spicy. They'll know what to do. Great service, great atmosphere, and food that makes you immediately start planning your next visit. We'll be back... probably too soon.

Solid Xiao Long Bao, not exceptional but solid. I found the broth to be fairly bland but the dumpling itself had a good bounce & chew. Came in here ready to do some damage after a long morning walking around Portland & crossing the river twice. After taking down a Tsingtao & a full order of xiao long bao I opted to forgo another menu item & try out a different dumpling spot for pan fried dumplings. If i had more time in the city i would have sampled another item here but had to spread the love. Service was good here & seating was ample.

My friend really likes this place and compares it to places like DTF and she claims that this place is better in quality, price and taste! We came here on a Sunday evening and it was pretty busy but we somehow managed to grab a table at the bar, and eat quickly before my flight! The Sichuan dishes here are really good, I loved the crispy chicken and fish we got and the pork XLB was so so good. I wish they had a chicken XLB or spicy veggie/chicken wontons but with what they had they definitely knocked it out of the park. Great place!

I got combination chow mein, orange chicken and yuzu lemon drop. It's a good late night classic American Chinese place. Better than panda for sure haha. I probably won't go here unless im drunk though. Yuzu lemon drop was yummy! I like how quick and to the point the servers are!

Been before and thought it was OK but this dinner was a total miss for my taste. First, I'm not a salt fiend however food does need some seasoning and all of our dishes were just plain bland. The pork and leek dumplings had a wrapper that was too thick from what I'm used to and not steamed enough to be succulent. The General Tso's Chicken was dry chicken and an almost flavorless glaze. The eggplant with garlic sauce was nicely done but needed a splash of black vinegar which was table side so OK. The beef chow fun was bland all around and the noodles had no tooth but were gloppy and too soft IMO.

Dimsum breakfast in Portland, Oregon…read more.. After 8am mass, we drove to Excellent Cuisine because it was nearby and because I saw a photo of the piggy buns. However, we were too full to order piggy buns and we didn't see them on the rolling wagons. Thinking that it would be crowded, we arrived before opening time and saw that there were about six people waiting to get in. LOL! We were guaranteed a first round seat! Service was efficient since we sat near the kitchen - so we could see what's coming out fresh and hot! I asked if there were taro puffs (my niece's favorite) and hom sui gok (my dad's favorite). These fried items would be coming on the next wagon, but the server went and got them for us! Wow! Thanks! We got shrimp and chive dumplings and plain shrimp dumplings from this stemed items wagon. Of course, we had to have custard tarts and the cute piggy and ducky-shaped puddings! The coconut and mango flavors were subtle. We liked the coconut more, even though the ducky wiggled more! This was a really fun and tasty meal! We wouldn't mind returning! We appreciated the free shared parking, convenient restroom, and beautiful, clean environment!

We ordered a variety of dishes including Cantonese beef chow fun, shrimp green beans, fish maw soup, and some stewed beef. The beef chow fun was a bit too dry in my option, there are definitely better options in Portland for this dish. However, the green beans were stir fried perfectly and were super crispy. I absolutely love a good fish maw soup, and this one was generous in the ingredients! The medium was more than enough for multiple bowls for the three of us. Finally, my favorite, the stewed beef, or ngau zap. It came still bubbling and hot, but the flavors hit the spot. The beef was tender and it paired really well with rice. Can't say much about their dim sum, since it has been quite a while since I've had it, but I'll be back soon to try it!

In this area, there are only 2 dim sum places (the other being Excellent Cuisine...apparently it's the same owner). There are 2 other dim sum places in the Beaverton area but they don't have carts. We arrived at 10:30 a.m. on a Saturday morning and the restaurant was about 2/3rds full. By 11 a.m. it's full and you will need to put your name on the wait list. Service is your usual...loud, kind of rude but not overtly great service but that's to be expected. Most of the ladies spoke Cantonese and Toisan. When you're ready to pay, you have to take your check to the counter and pay there. Food wise, it's legit. It doesn't have the same level of options that I'm accustomed (Los Angeles/Monterey Park) to but their staple dishes like ha how, siu mai, fung jow, dahn taht, hom sui gok were pretty good. But the food from the carts came out hot and fresh. If I'm back in the area again and need to satisfy my dim sum craving, I'd definitely come back.

The fried rice's flavor was pretty muted..I prefer a little saltiness in my fried rice and it honestly had barely any salt? It tasted like plain rice with a little soy sauce and maybe oil flavor? It was very thick and each bite felt more breading than chicken..The flavor of the sauce was good but with how thick the breading was, the inside of the chicken had no flavor at all once I bit in..
