This supposed to be sotanghon soup, but used vermicelli noodles--not good at all!
    Genie D.

Sadly, this was one of the worst Filipino restaurants we've been to. The food was very disappointing. Here's the receipt to show what we spent for the experience. We tasted the soup and street corn disappointing that we couldn't even finish the food.

    Halo halo
    Ainsley E.

Okay this place is weird. Walked in and up to a kiosk, only to realize I could sit down and order at a table with a QR code. It's empty except for one group of people who eventually leave. At no point do I interact with a human. I order a spam musubi and a halo halo. Eventually a robot wheels out with my spam musubi. Ok, I'm familiar with the restaurant robots but it was still a surprise. Several minutes later the bartender comes over with my halo halo. Nice dude. Now for the food: spam musubi was super mid. Not much flavor despite Spam being inherently salty and delicious? The Halo Halo is on me. Never had one before, but I didn't like it. I thought it would be right up my alley because I'm a huge fan of boba and silly extra drinks like that. Consumed maybe 1/3 of it and promptly left. By that point I was...$19 in the hole for a very subpar experience overall. Oh and the music was LOUD and awful. A weird butt rock and pop mix, but a country song came on and that's finally what drove me out.

Lumpia length 2 inches n uncooked

The lumpia was a complete joke I got the beef n it is 2 inches long! How do you manage not to cook it all the way is mind boggling 5 small pieces 2$ each absolute Ripoff n the place is not that clean n quite outdated just a heads up!

Friendly | Good lumpia $$ We did take-out for lunch here after visiting OMSI. I was excited to try a Filipino place in Portland! Their menu looks great. I immediately decided on ordering the pancit bowl, Shanghai lumpia, and spam musubis. They were out of Shanghai lumpia because they're popular, so we went with pork lumpia. The person who greeted my husband is very friendly, maybe the owner. My kids like the musubis. The lumpia was devoured quickly. Delicious! However, the pancit bowl was underwhelming for me. I love that they put a lot of veggie ingredients unlike most places relying heavily on the rice noodle, but the taste felt like it was missing something. I'm not quite sure what to suggest either, but I also didn't care for the whole peppercorn when I got a bite of it. The price is a little expensive ($17) for the bowl, in my opinion. I have to note that I tend to compare every Filipino restaurant with my grandmother's cooking. I'm still interested in coming back to try other food and drinks though. It's nice it's located close to the university. Street parking. Outdoor seating available.

Silog plate with pork adobo and fried spam

I stopped in here for brunch because I saw that they were serving Filipino food. I ordered their silog plate with pork adobo and fried spam as my 2 meat choices. I wanted their longanisa sausage instead of spam, but unfortunately, they were out. Although it was a bit pricey, the food was good and the portion size was good. They looked to be a small operation with a very friendly staff. I wouldn't mind coming back here if I'm ever in the area again.

lumpia, deluxe rice bowl, silog plate (i think)

HunnyBeez gives out pretty hefty portion sizes so by the end of the meal, I was full. I had a deluxe bowl with tocino and loved every bite. The lumpia was also pretty good too. I came somewhat late, but maybe a few hours before closing and it was pretty empty, not too many people there. Staff was pretty friendly. The place is a bit small however. Since I go to school at PSU, I'd love to come back and try other meals here during my lunch breaks.

HunnyBeez is a fusion restaurant which offers some Filipino food and we stopped in out of curiosity. We met with one of the co-owners who shared their restaurant story with us. Since we already had lunch, we decided to give their Shanghai Lumpia ($12) and their Halo Halo ($12) a try. The lumpia was excellent! It was super crispy with well seasoned meat filling. We made sure to praise it to the chef. As for the Halo Halo, I have never paid more than $10 for Halo Halo ever in my life until now, but I get that we are living in very different times. That being said, this Halo Halo was made just the way I like it...topped with ube ice cream and with no corn/nuts... plus it was huge! This is a great spot for a hearty meal and dessert.

Ube milk tea was really good, got a free one for my birthday

    Fries made from SPAM!

Hunny Beez is my local spot when I'm too tired or busy to cook, have nothing in the fridge or they have a special I need to try. I've had most of the menu throughout the last year. The specials are truly my favorites. The lasagna and Filipino spaghetti blew my mind. Recently, during burger week the SPAM fries made my day. When I get sick, the Chicken Tinola Soup helps with the healing process. If I'm in need of a cookie, the ube chocolate is my go to. Super easy to order online. The staff is incredibly friendly. See you soon Hunny Beez!

I had a nice lunch here. I work really close by and it was nice to enjoy a home-style meal. Now, I will always favor my inay's cooking of course, but my inay wasn't here. The food is good, and it came out almost as quickly as I ordered it. My only gripe is that it didn't come with a scoop of rice. At my house, it's not a meal unless you eat it with rice (even if the dish is made of rice noodles). The portion is generous and the food tastes good. Seating is a little cramped for us who are not as slender as others. Staff is friendly. I ordered pancit bihon w/ bistek.

Maybe Hunnybeez on SW Park Ave isn't that Instagrammable from the outside- but they probably know a thing or two about what they're doing in the kitchen and outside of that. This was a nice spot to grab some tea drinks and bring to my daughter's apartment about a block away. The space is dim and cozy with several tables and hi-stools by the window. Soak up the Filipino music as you're dining in or just waiting for your order. I ordered a "Thai Ice Tea AND a Lychee Lemonade- 'Mojito' tea"- but somehow, they understood I wanted both flavors together¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Whipped out my card again to buy the Mojito. I also ordered the Veg Lumpia and those tasted as if they were left in the fryer far too long and soaked up wayyy too much oil. I get they're fried to begin with- but the oil on the lumpias, the plate and our fingers, was dreadful. Service was fantastic and dispite my Thai Iced Tea tasting like Lychee, our to-go beverages were fantastic. I'm sure the Filipino food here is on point and the rating says it all, as Hunnybeez is definitely a local spot close to people's hearts.

The food was delicious! The server and the cooks were also very sweet! The ambiance of this place is so comfy and safe! It was my first time trying filipino cuisine, i had my boyfriend pick out these dishes and i would definitely recommend them!

I saw this place while looking for a Filipino restaurant in Portland. The place is cozy and they have a decent menu of items to choose from. I tried their rice bowl deluxe rice bowl with lechon and longanisa. This was really good and highly recommend it. It's a self-service place, but the staff/owners were really responsive and friendly. I did get their Ube Cheesecake to go and ... that was amazing as well.

Great concept, gracious hospitality but the food and flow still need seasoning…read more We were really excited to try Hapa Barkada, Filipino and Hawaiian fusion is a rare find anywhere, let alone in PDX. Bonus: they're open late (until 1 AM per Yelp). Since Google showed incorrect hours, we called ahead before making the drive across town from Happy Valley. Perks: -Free street parking after 7 PM and on holidays -Open late (a big plus in Portland) -Casual, trendy vibe Ordering was frustrating. The cell signal was terrible due to its half basement floor. The WiFi passcode wasn't posted, we had to leave our table to ask a staff for it, and even then, it didn't work for either of our phones. The intent of a digital-only ordering system clashed hard with the reality. I suggested they keep a few printed menus on hand as backup. Kiaha, the owner, was incredibly attentive and responsive. When she heard about the ordering issue, she came to our table, apologized sincerely, and took our order herself. She even comped a few items, which we truly appreciated. Food: Not quite there yet -The surprise winner was the Volcano Broccoli, flavorful with great texture. Would order again. -Steak Bites were overcooked. We weren't asked how we wanted them cooked. The sauce added a little flavor but didn't save the dish. -Fried Tofu Plate came with mac and cheese, green salad, and white rice. All three were underseasoned and forgettable. The tofu itself was oddly crunchy in a stale kind of way, and the vinegar dipping sauce didn't add much. -Mac and cheese lumpia sounded creative, but it just didn't land, bland and kind of "meh." -The 15-hour pulled pork bao had generous filling, but the pork lacked richness, flavor, and texture issues. The bao was served cold, which didn't help. -Mocktails (we tried both available ones: pineapple, lime, and something else) were okay but not memorable. Super cozy 4x6 feet single stall neutral restroom. The scent diffuser was cranked up way too high for such a tiny room, almost overwhelming. We came specifically for the pork belly, only to learn it's a weekend only item, a bummer, but not a dealbreaker. We're rooting for Hapa Barkada and willing to give it another go, especially to check out the pork belly when it's available. P.Y. Provides toilet seat covers.

The bar and resturant are separate, which isnt a big deal since the place is so small. We went early on a saturday and there were only a few other people there. As we were enjoying our dinner more people started to fill the seats quickly. The online ordering system for the resturant wasent working properly so some items I had seen people post on yelp didn't appear on the online menu to order. The bartender suggested we actually go to the kitchen window and ask, and were glad we did. I wanted to try the poke bombs which weren't showing up on the menu, but sure enough they made them for us and they were good. We started off with that, and shared mochiko chicken, roasted broccoli, tofu with chimichurri and the fries. All were really delicious.

Music was great, and all of the food flavors were bold. Though flavor combinations were unique, everything was cohesive.
