They claim to have "among the best burgers in 3 counties" and that's underestimating. The double yellow jacket burger is great, as is the pineapple burger. Jalapeno mozzarella sticks are nice. We were a little disappointed by the lumpia, but might have caught them on a bad day. The pineapple ice cream (sort of like sorbet) is VERY GOOD. And a pint container is only $1 more than a cone, so unless you really love a waffle cone, spend the extra and focus on the good stuff. There's nice outdoor seating on the park blocks, but if you eat inside, a robot is likely to bring you your food! read more

I was ROOTING for you, HunnyBeez! Maybe we just came on an off day, but the food did not live up to expectations. We got one of the basic hamburgers and a skewer (for free!) but they were not the best. I'm not sure how I'd feel if we had paid $5 for a skewer (see picture.) Okay this place is weird. Walked in and up to a kiosk, only to realize I could sit down and order at a table with a QR code. It's empty except for one group of people who eventually leave. At no point do I interact with a human. I order a spam musubi and a halo halo. Eventually a robot wheels out with my spam musubi. Ok, I'm familiar with the restaurant robots but it was still a surprise. Several minutes later the bartender comes over with my halo halo. Nice dude. Now for the food: spam musubi was super mid. Not much flavor despite Spam being inherently salty and delicious? The Halo Halo is on me. Never had one before, but I didn't like it. I thought it would be right up my alley because I'm a huge fan of boba and silly extra drinks like that. Consumed maybe 1/3 of it and promptly left. I got the Garlic Stinkin' Wings and really enjoyed them. The sauce was sticky with just the right amount of heat, and the green onion garnish added a nice touch of freshness. These were solid wings! I also tried the Deluxe Sandwich with Bistek. It was decent, but not my favorite--the bread-to-filling ratio felt a bit off, and the bread itself was on the harder side. The meat, though, had great flavor (I just wish there was more of it), and the veggies were super fresh. I'll definitely have to come back and try a few of their other sandwiches. Friendly | Good lumpia $$ We did take-out for lunch here after visiting OMSI. I was excited to try a Filipino place in Portland! Their menu looks great. I immediately decided on ordering the pancit bowl, Shanghai lumpia, and spam musubis. They were out of Shanghai lumpia because they're popular, so we went with pork lumpia. The person who greeted my husband is very friendly, maybe the owner. My kids like the musubis. The lumpia was devoured quickly. Delicious! However, the pancit bowl was underwhelming for me. I love that they put a lot of veggie ingredients unlike most places relying heavily on the rice noodle, but the taste felt like it was missing something. I'm not quite sure what to suggest either, but I also didn't care for the whole peppercorn when I got a bite of it. The price is a little expensive ($17) for the bowl, in my opinion. I have to note that I tend to compare every Filipino restaurant with my grandmother's cooking. I'm still interested in coming back to try other food and drinks though. I stopped in here for brunch because I saw that they were serving Filipino food. I ordered their silog plate with pork adobo and fried spam as my 2 meat choices. I wanted their longanisa sausage instead of spam, but unfortunately, they were out. Although it was a bit pricey, the food was good and the portion size was good. HunnyBeez gives out pretty hefty portion sizes so by the end of the meal, I was full. I had a deluxe bowl with tocino and loved every bite. The lumpia was also pretty good too. I came somewhat late, but maybe a few hours before closing and it was pretty empty, not too many people there. Staff was pretty friendly. The place is a bit small however. HunnyBeez is a fusion restaurant which offers some Filipino food and we stopped in out of curiosity. We met with one of the co-owners who shared their restaurant story with us. Since we already had lunch, we decided to give their Shanghai Lumpia ($12) and their Halo Halo ($12) a try. The lumpia was excellent! It was super crispy with well seasoned meat filling. We made sure to praise it to the chef. As for the Halo Halo, I have never paid more than $10 for Halo Halo ever in my life until now, but I get that we are living in very different times. That being said, this Halo Halo was made just the way I like it...topped with ube ice cream and with no corn/nuts... plus it was huge! This is a great spot for a hearty meal and dessert. read more

We got a spread of food and sweets to try because of all the good photos and reviews. It's a small, counter service joint close to PSU campus. The cashier was really friendly and gave us his recommendations. We ended up trying the adobo wings, rice bowl with sausage and beef, Ube choco cookie, Ube rice krispy, and Ube banana bread. We liked the desserts but they were nothing spectacular. Adobo wings were my favorite but my partner thought they were a little dry. The rice bowl was the biggest disappointment: both the sausage and beef were flavorless and the beef was very tough, the lumpia Shanghai were mediocre, the white rice and eggs were the best things out of the bowl. I had high expectations because let's face it as a FilAm person in the PNW, aside from my mom's cooking, I needed a place to go. Unfortunately pretty much everything we ordered was a let down. Sinigang should be sour and have that tamarind flavour which was absolutely not there. I could somewhat taste those classic Filipino flavours in the adobo wings, but it was still lacking that classic adobo flavour for sure. - Silog Plate: Was excited for this because we got the pork adobo and the tortang talong. The adobo was VERY dry. Barely any of the juicy flavour that it should have. As for the tortang talong, such a huge let down. It's supposed to be thin and eggy with charred eggplant flavour and this thing was thick, and wet, and not well cooked, and just overall flavourless. - Langoniza Musubi: TERRIBLE. What a weird flavour and did not taste like any longanisa I've ever had. It was dry, the rice was flavourless, and barely any seaweed on it to wrap around. It tasted oddly like....corn? No sweetness. No juicyness of the sausage. Just bad. - Spam Musubi: Just okay. And again such a small strip of the seaweed. - Fried Corn Wheels: Eh. Fried and dry. PRICE: Reasonable in my opinion. But the quality was just not great at all. OVERALL: Such a let down. I know Filipino food tastes different depending on the province, the tradition, but there has to be FLAVOUR. There was not. Ugh, I really wanted to like this place but after eating here we both ended up with what might be food poisoning (thankfully so far relatively mild but still). The pineapple macaroni salad had turned and they gave us a new one (not pineapple). We ended up tossing it when we got home just in case. Counter-service joint for Filipino fusion food. We don't really have anything like this where I live (which is surprising to me because the concept is totally intuitive), so I was curious to try. I was a little hesitant though, because I was worried it might be the kind of food that's really oily, salty, etc, but even though they have lots of fried foods here, it was more like homestyle food than greasy fast food. The menu has lots of customizable choices, many of which are vegan-friendly. You can even further dress your food to your liking with the variety of condiments at every table: Filipino all purpose sauce, sriracha, sweet chili sauce, sriracha ketchup, banana ketchup, and of course salt and pepper. There's a huge variety of desserts too and many flavours of bubble tea with the usual selection of standard toppings plus fruits and Filipino-inspired options. I got the Canton style deluxe pancit noodles with tofu, ube flan, and a lychee lemon Thai tea with jackfruit. I really liked the texture of the fine lo mein noodles with the shredded vegetables. It was also appreciated that there were a LOT of vegetables, about equal parts veg and noodle. Flavour-wise, I found that the first few bites were a little plain, but I added some of the all-purpose sauce and sriracha from the condiment rack at my seat and that made it perfect. It's cool that they have such a variety of condiments at every table: salt and pepper, sriracha ketchup, banana ketchup, sweet chili sauce, and the sauces above. I could have used a more intense ube flavour from the ube flan but it was still very nice - the flan wasn't too sweet and had the characteristic earthiness of ube with a nice caramelized condensed milk topping. I really liked the unexpected (to me) combination of Thai tea and lychee in my drink, and the jackfruit would have complimented it nicely except the pieces were too long to go through my straw and sank to the bottom of the drink so I couldn't really sip them up without a straw, so I ended up just eating them with a spoon - maybe cutting them shorter would make it easier. I kept being bothered by two small flies while I was eating. I don't know how it is in Portland, but in Vancouver where I'm from, fruit flies are unavoidable during the summer so I'll give most places a pass on flies during that season, but not in March. I think it was only two, so not an infestation, but still annoying. The people were nice. I could not decide what I wanted to drink and changed every single aspect of my drink order as I was placing it, but the guy taking the order was very chill about it.
