It has a classic old school feel with lots of history, photos of celebrities who've dined there over the years, a beautiful bar, and a timeless charm that's hard to find these days. I kept it simple and ordered the chef's seafood special, and wow...it completely caught me by surprise. It reminded me a little of crawfish étouffée, but with more seafood and its own unique flavor. It's hard to describe, but it was absolutely delicious and one of the best meals I had during my trip. The drinks were excellent too (sorry, no pictures because I was too busy enjoying them), and the service was friendly from start to finish. Business trips don't always come with memorable meals, but this one definitely did. The next time I'm in Portland, Jake's will be one of my first stops.

One star off for the cold, rock-hard toast. One surprise on the way out: a "Kitchen Appreciation Fee" of 3% appeared on the itemized receipt, but not on the menu, the website, or any visible signage.
