I don't know if we came on a bad day or is it just bad? We got the wings and they were so small that three of them would equal the same size of a wing at another proper place. But even worse, they were so dry that it felt like it was heated at 400° for 30 minutes. And for $16 that's horrific, I would say that this is like the wings you would find at a dive bar at 11 PM with no choices, and they would probably only charge you about $8 to $10. The Momo was just simply not good. We got the chili chicken and they were extremely small, over fried, and the sauce taste just like a store-bought, sweet thai chili sauce Lastly, we got the nacho for nacho week and oh my God was that a disappointment as well. It came out extremely cold, and it might be intended to serve not hot, but this was like straight out of the fridge cold. If you look at the pictures they have on the nacho week website, it looked nothing like it. It was a disgrace as it was probably 90% nacho in 10% everything else. If you split up the toppings, it would only need about four or five chips before you've exhausted all the toppings that came with it. Then you're left with 90% of just tortilla chips. I don't know how this place got so many good reviews but either this is a really bad day, but we got three separate dishes that were all bad, but I'm inclined to think that it's just simply bad. read more

Came here for sandwich week, but they were sold out at the v time, so I stayed to try some of their other offerings and they delivered. The service was phenomenal, the food was delicious. Nem Kao - this was such a delicious plate. This is a red curry based crispy rice plate served with lettuce wrap. It's made to be eaten with your hands. Laos Sausage Roll - Also a very delicious dish. The Laos sausage is served in a potato roll and I can't remember the sauce, but that was delicious. In addition it was topped with some fried noodles which gave it it a nice crispy touch. They've kept some of the good wings from before but now pivoted to more tapas dishes which are not bad. We enjoyed the Nem Kao and Charred Cabbage that was cooked well and served on a bed of creamy sauce. Definitely more western than what it used to be. The wings were small than what they're before. Firecracker Wings are still our favorite. The Thai Fish Sauce ones were too sweet for me. Need more citrus or savoryness there. Service was decent on a weeknight when the place was empty. Nahhh... this place is not it. Ever since the original owner sold the restaurant, it just hasn't been the same. The new ownership doesn't seem to have the Asian flavors down, the sauces lacked depth and just didn't taste right. The wings were small, the portions felt reduced, and the menu is now very limited compared to before. Overall, it was pretty disappointing. The wings are small the flavor it's not Vietnamese fish sauce at all. It is sweet and not flavorful at all. What a great spot to get some great flavours and a twist on bar foods and tapas types of dishes. PARKING: Parking at night was not a huge deal but we did come pretty late. Plenty of space on the streets per usual in Portland. AMBIANCE: There's a bar inside with seats and some tables. They have some cool pictures on the walls on the inside and the atmosphere was very casual. SERVICE: Our waitress was very helpful and answered our questions. We were checked on multiple times. Sweet and salty. HOWEVER. The caramel hardened on the plate and every bite was sticking to my teeth. It was pretty difficult to eat to be honest. Vietnamese Street Corn: What a star. The dried shrimp made the dish sing. So savoury. Sambal Honey Carrots: Another star of a dish. The caramelization on the carrots was so good. Carrots cooked perfectly. Not too soggy and not undercooked. A delicious veggie dish. Smashed Cucumber Salad: This was light and refreshing. Good sesame flavour and creamy dressing. Pork Chicharrones: I mean fried pork rinds. Always good. Remoulade also delicious. Roasted Cauliflower: Another solid veggie dish. Carrot ginger puree was silky and bright. Well roasted and good char on the veggies. Lao's Sausage Roll: Yum. Perfection. No notes. Just delicious. What a great twist on a regular old hot dog. OVERALL: I'd give this a solid 4.5 stars. Yum!! This place definitely hit the spot. I was craving chicken wings while I was on the plane and when we landed, this place stood out to me. Why?! I mean besides the name, the wing flavors, and it was also the other offerings. To start, the fact that they had green Thai tea was already huge brownie points. And the added bonus is that it came out like a root beer float was unexpected. Yum, it's like a drink and dessert built into one. The nem Kao was something I've had maybe a small handful of times prior, but nom nom wings sure made this encounter memorable. It was well balanced in flavor, crispy and crunchy in texture, and the provided herbs pulled the entire dish together and made it refreshing. Vietnamese street corn, though someone noted it was bland, I have a weak spot for corn. And I'm glad I didn't let that review turn me off because it was anything but bland. I'm usually not a fan of those dried micro shrimps because people don't fully hydrate them and it's the aldente texture (which I dislike), but this place did it right. The corn was very flavorful and it sort of reminded me of banh beo. Now onto the wings and rib bites. We tried 4 different wing flavors: salt pepper, passion fruit habanero, snow, and fire cracker. Salt and pepper reminded me of the salt and pepper prawns with the onion and jalapeno slices. The snow wings are what stood out the most with its yeasty, cheesy, non overwhelming goodness and hint of sweetness. Passion fruit habanero had a slight kick to it, but it was just maybe a little too sweet for my liking but the sweet and spicy does work together. Fire cracker wings were also a best seller per the staff and it was simple, yet straight forward, and not overwhelmingly spicy or anything. Rib bites reminded me of my husband's deep fried ribs in lard that is tossed in BBQ sauce afterwards, except it was tossed in tamarind sauce, yumm! The off menu surprise of salt and pepper prawns sure did hit the spot after I had the salt and pepper wings. The prawns were huge and probably one of the tastiest salt and pepper prawns I've had to date. Well seasoned, well balanced, and not salty (which is something I tend to complain about). And let's not forget zero waste as the shells were edible and it didn't get caught in the back of my throat. Ended this meal with fried banana fritters and coconut ice cream. Gosh the crushed peanut sprinkled on the ice cream was something so simple but yet made a huge difference. The fried banana fritter was more of a secret fat kid's guilty pleasure at the Fair type of moment. Crunchy and yet so silky soft in the middle with a bite, not just melted goo. Everything flavor profile wise was good, we got the traditional fish sauce wings, and an order of the banh khot (small turmeric rice cake crisps filled with shrimp). The banh khot was cooked well, just wish we could get more lettuce with our dish as traditionally you eat it by wrapping it in the lettuce leaf (they only gave us two). It's a bit awkward when you come here as it's more of a bar than a restaurant- but wait by the door and the bartender will greet you.
