This delicious little hole in the wall restaurant is comfortable, great service, and delicious food. If you like a little kick of spice with amazing flavors, I definitely recommend this one!

herb salad with mixed herbs like parsley and cilantro and watercress with a Thai chili dressing. This is spicy if you like spicy salads.

This is a perfect addition to a block on Belmont that is plentiful of bars and nightlife. Bangkok Belly, with its casual vibes and strong cocktail program, definitely fits the neighborhood draw. It's Thai street food and the tiny menu focuses on skewers and salads, with a couple of specials (that changes each season). I started with a Thai tea punch, which was like a spiked iced tea (but not crazy strong like Long Island iced tea but same approach), and then I dug into the menu. I got the gai satay or chicken skewer that was perfectly cooked and served with a funky dipping sauce that had the authentic Thai spices. The moo ping skewer is grilled pork collar, and it was also nicely cooked, and this served with a peanut sauce and slices of toast. The server said that's how they serve this dish in Thailand, dipping the toast in the peanut sauce. The grilling quality reminded me of another Belmont restaurant down the road, Bluto's, so Bangkok Belly reminded me like a Thai version of Bluto's (which is Greek skewers). I tried the herb salad, which is almost like a plate of parsley, but it was so refreshing and different that it was really a pleasant surprise. The larb mac salad is a play on the Thai larb dish but with macaroni as the main ingredient (and the website jokes that this was an invention from a picnic potluck). This is probably the most unusual item on the menu, but while it was a nice mac salad, it wasn't necessarily my favorite item. It's nice as a side to cool off from the Thai heat in the other dishes. Still, I loved everything else, and the service was great, and the place seemed pretty popular as the evening went on. So excited to see this in the neighborhood!

I heard about the soft opening this weekend from a friend. I was intrigued by the story so I had to check it out. I must say, I am absolutely impressed. The menu is small but perfect and well thought out. We were a party of 4 so fortunately, we were able to explore most of the menu items. The people working were all amazing and hospitable. The cocktails were all incredible and the food was extremely tasty and high quality. It's a small space with a great ambiance. A must try for anyone in or visiting Portland.

Brunch in Portland, Oregon…read more.. After I read reviews about Portland's Chinatown, I searched for a dimsum place outside of Chinatown and found Jade Rabbit I liked the name of the place and saw that they had two kinds of rabbit-shaped dimsum! Another cool thing is that their menu is vegan... that means that I don't have to worry about dairy products that give me pain. We found free street parking about a half a block away and waited for Jade Rabbit to open at 11am. We didn't have reservations, but we're seated immediately. The decor was great! I enjoyed looking at all of the Rabbit figurines! The furniture was colorful and the convenient restroom had interesting decorations, too! The service was okay. Some items were not available and our server recited the list that included chow funn. Shucks! She came back later and said that the chow funn was, in fact, available... yay! Our server seemed a bit nervous as her hand shook and placed the special menu upside-down... LOL! We won't bite you! She recommended the Ube Jam drink - it was made with coconut cream... yes! The chow funn was a bit bland. We added some soy sauce. The Puto Pao Bunny Bao had an unusual flavor - maybe the brown sugar can be omitted because the black garlic and vegan pork might be fine without it? The Jade Rabbit Dumplings also could be more savory. Something was off... and the filling was a bit sparse. Anyway, maybe we could have ordered better, but we got what we wanted! Thank you for the cute food! Note: 22 percent is added to the bill - so no need to tip.

The sauce they use with the chicken and rice is great and is worth buying to take home to make your own dishes better. There is a good amount of seating both inside and out. I also tried the pork which was good but I prefer the chicken so will stick to that on a future visit. I have tried a lot of places that do the same thai style chicken and rice and it's almost always a miss for me, something is always off, usually the chicken is touch, or too dry, or lacking flavor but here it just hits right.

Pork and rice are pretty tasty and I would recommend you getting it if you like pork. Pork and rice set also provides some veggies which added variety and flavors. We also got mango sticky rice. But you have to serve your own water/tea, chili sauce etc. But this is expected. You can enjoy a little bit of the street food vibe here. Overall, the cost is pretty reasonable if you want a quick bite and if you don't need many food options or if you want to try out this experience.

We shared the cream cheese wontons, coconut curry with chicken spice level 2(which comes with rice), and the luc lac. Everything was deliciousss! The chicken in the curry broke apart so easily and the curry itself was very flavorful. Spice level 2 was perfect for a little kick, but not too much. The meat on the luc lac has a nice char on it and a sauce that is almost sweet. Service is quick and the vibe inside is very trendy with colorful decor and lights. Great for a night out. Previous visits have sometimes left us confused as if we ordered something different than a usual so i would say it is not too consistent but great if you catch it on a good day.

They took our drinks order and handed the drinks while we were in the line. Once we got to the register, we put in our food order and paid. The restaurant was semi self served. We got to our table few minutes after ordering. Guests also had the option to order to go and dine in the tent tables outside. The interior of the place was so stunning. There were dragon on walls, umbrellas in the ceiling, a huge full service bar. Our dishes came out within few minutes. We got the chicken skewers, chicken pho, chicken luc lac and steak rolls. We liked the small plate dishes, but the entree ones were disappointing. The chickens were chunky and dry, bland flavor. As much as we loved the vibe of the place, we didn't enjoy the food as much. The staff members were very joyful and friendly. They were explaining the process to every guest and keeping everyone informed on waiting time. During dining, they were also available to help.

I normally get the Black Oil Tonkotsu Ramen, which is awesome, really good. I also tried the Pad Thai once, which was good, not great. A bit too much sauce for me. And then one other time, I got the fried rice with a soy sauce egg in it and that was really good. But, if you're looking for a good ramen, the black oil tonkotsu is a good one to get. Really good service, too. They get the food out quick and are friendly and helpful.

It did not disappoint, we ordered the tom yum soup, the black oil ramen, and their mandarinian chicken. The tom yum soup was just as lemony, spicy, and salty as you'd like it to be! Very delicious with all toppings. I'm not an egg fan but forgot to remove it. -eggs were not thrown out yet recycled to my bf lol The black oil tonkotsu ramen was sooo tasty, very rich. Again, a must try. The mandarinian chicken was very delicious! It's a chicken katsu style cut. The breading was addicting to eat. I loved its soft and crunchy texture! The raid tea paired delicious with everything The service was friendly. Very cute Asian bistro element. Their ac isn't the best, they have lots of fans. Didn't really bother us though. The restrooms and the hallway leading to them were futuristic and reminded me of sci-fi films. Our waiter was amazing and provided great recommendations for drinks on the menu (even off the menu too, when I was looking for a N/A drink). He even gave us champagne for a celebration. Between the three of us, we ordered five dishes plus dessert. The food items were all small plates and perfectly shareable, with enough portions for everyone to get a decent sampling of each dish. We ordered the blistered shishitos, albacore tataki, KFC bao, curry prawn salad, and coffee roasted pork belly. The blistered shishitos had a spicy kick to it that initially hits you in the face but simmers to a lingering heat on your tongue. The yuzu mayo mellows the spiciness quite a bit if you're worried about the heat. The coconut-lime cream and the tamarind chili dressing in the curry prawn salad created a lovely sour and creamy twist with the macadamia nuts offering a delightful crunch in each bite. The flavors were reminiscent of Thai cuisine. The albacore tataki was light and refreshing, and the daikon soaked up the green tea ponzu wonderfully -- I chased down every single piece. The pickled cucumber paired so well with the chicken in the KFC bao, the sour vinegary taste cutting through the thick sweet-savoriness of the gochujang glaze. The coffee roasted pork belly was also delicious, and I especially enjoyed the bed of braised taro leaves the meat rested on. Our dinner ended with yuzu sherbet and an ice cream sandwich. I loved every part of this dinner, and I would definitely come back again.
