I've been wanting to try more Burmese cuisine, so when I was in the area I figured I would give it a try. The atmosphere inside is a more casual, neighborhood style restaurant, as you seat yourself and go up to order at the counter. We started with the fried potatoes, which were crispy and upon the first bites had a distinct note of Szechuan spice from the oil. However, after eating them more you don't taste the spice anymore and it becomes a pretty boring dish to eat that would greatly benefit from a sauce. The Shan style pork noodles, on the other hand, are a must order as they were bursting with flavor. The chickpea tofu curry was good, but didn't blow me away. The tofu has a soft texture that goes nicely with the fried aromatics and peanuts on top. The curry is very tomato forward and doesn't have the depth of flavor I would've wanted.

Located in a cute location off Mississippi with plenty of places to explore on the way. The environment was welcoming and service was quick. Staff were friendly and polite. Street parking only. Seating inside and outside, which is nice. The food here is EXCELLENT! The flavors made my mouth water. The coconut drink & Tamraindo soda were delicious. I cant wait to go back and try more off the menu. I would definitely recommend checking this spot out, cheers! (^.^)

Came back, the KPS dumplings had called for me. And with the gorgeous weather we just had to eat outside. That dumplings will forever haunt my dreams the black vinegar sauce is amazing. We tried the ribs today and talk about fall off the bone! They gave us a knife that was completely unnecessary~ it does have a very fresh pepper forward taste and delicious base of rice with broth. My new go to sick meal~ a perfect balance of comfort and spice.

We came here for a light dinner as we were in the area. The place is spacious and also had an outdoor area to dine at. We ordered a few items to share - Khao Pyan Sane (Very large dumpling), Wat Nanyoe (braised pork ribs), and Shao Khan Swe (Shan style pork noodles). The food came out pretty quick and all were enjoyable. Everything had good flavors to it. I did find the braised pork ribs to be a bit on the saltier side. The pork noodles were good in that the texture of the noodles were nice and chewy.

Service: 9/10 super friendly and helpful Food: 6/10 it looked beautiful and you could tell a lot of effort went into it but the flavor just wasn't wow. The potatoes as an app needed a sauce otherwise were a bit boring. The best dish was the noodles. Ambiance: 8/10 beautiful outdoor seating

Never thought to try Burmese cuisine before but a stroll down Mississippi and seeing this restaurant packed had us dare. Counter order ~ smiley welcoming, willingness & happy to describe the menu for the first timer. Self seating & water outside and they bring the entrees to you. The outdoor picnic tables in the courtyard is cute and a special treat was the random acoustic musician busking in the background. Food ~ unique flavors that are bright & tantalizing to the tongue. Perfect blend of sour, spicy, & fish sauce. Noodle texture al dente good. Pork soft & tender. The tiny chilies they use can be intensely spicy :0 Burmese cuisine is definitely a particular flavor profile that this first time Yelper can really only describe as delicious.

The fried chicken was SO good! The crunch was impeccable. All the dishes had strong flavors, but the chicken was my favorite.

Shan pork noodles - my favorite dish out of all that we ordered. I could've eaten this all day long.

Ended our day of walking around Portland with dinner at Rangoon Bistro, and it couldn't have been a better note to close the night on. We started with the Mala Aloo, crispy fried potatoes dusted in mala spice. The texture was perfectly golden, light, and crisp on every side. I have a hunch they slightly flatten them during cooking to get that perfect surface-area crunch, because they came out fast and flawlessly done. The pork ribs, with flavors of star anise and black cardamom in a spicy, herby green broth, were fall-off-the-bone tender. The herbs added this brightness that kept it from feeling heavy, and pairing it with jasmine rice tied everything together beautifully. The Shan-style pork noodles (Kyay oh si chet) were the ultimate comfort -- rice noodles layered with pork belly, pork meatballs, tofu, crispy garlic, and a boiled egg. Savory and rich. My personal favorite of the night. I could eat this jawn all day long! And finally, the Khao Pyan Sane (giant dumpling) -- one massive pork-and-cabbage dumpling swimming in tamari vinegar and chili oil. It had a great blend of flavors. Definitely one of the most memorable dishes of the night given how huge it was. The space feels calm, modern, and intentional -- a perfect reflection of how much care goes into every dish. Service was phenomenal; fast and checked in on us often. If you want to experience Burmese flavors done with both heart and craft, Rangoon Bistro is it. For sure we coming back here next time we're in town!

Rangoon Bistro has a great patio to enjoy while eating outside. The food was so flavorful, the tea leaf salad was a little more bitter than I was expecting but great textures and flavor. The ribs were 10/10, super tender and very spicy!

10/10: KHAO PYAN SANE (very large dumpling) pork and cabbage filling, soy & vinegar sauce, chili oil and scallions.

The food was 10/10 in terms of flavor, aroma, and balance. The atmosphere was cozy & warm, with a lively playlist. Ample seating, friendly service. We shared the Khao Phan Sane (very large dumpling). It is one large dumpling filled w/pork & cabbage and wrapped in thick rice noodle, bathed in soy vinegar, chili oil, and scallions. Our entrees: Wat Nanyoe (Braised Pork Ribs) marinated in black cardamom/Thai chili/garlic/cilantro and served w/jasmine rice; and the Shan Khao Swe (Shan-style Pork Noodles). Both hearty dishes had us wanting more with every bite. You can definitely tell both the menu and space were curated with care. I whole-heartedly recommend visitors and locals to check out Rangoon Bistro.

I have such mixed feelings after eating here. Overall, the food was quite good and the dishes were super unique. But it's one of those things where the first few bites of each dish were absolute smash 10/10s, but specifically the Khao Pyane Sane (the "large dumpling") I got tired of it very quickly. Particularly the dumpling appetizer, was EXTREMELY flavorful and yummy, but after about half it started getting really overwhelming and overly salty. Overall, the food was all pretty great but if you generally find yourself eating light usually, it may be too much. Great spot for dinner and conversation, they have some cocktails as well but I didn't order any drinks, just grabbed water from the water station. Has outdoor seating as well.

Beef shank & mint yogurt stew (forgot the name)

Decent fast casual Burmese spot, order and pay up front at the counter. We tried the fried chicken & some sort of braised beef shank stew w/ yogurt & mint. The fried chicken was pretty basic, wish the dipping sauce was more spicy and flavorful. And the coconut rice was too sweet for me. We enjoyed the stew tho, the yogurt/mint flavor mixed in added a light fresh flavor to the rich savory that worked really well.

Food: 4-5/5 Service: 5/5 Value: 4/5 Ambiance: Casual We ordered the half fried chicken, tofu nway and a special, which was ground pork over rice noodle, very similar to a pad thai. I've only had a small sample size of Burmese restaurants, but comparing RB to Burmese places in San Francisco, RB's dishes seemed authentic and at least had authentic SE Asian flavors. The ingredients are very flavorful in the noodle dishes. I really enjoyed the tofu sauce in the tofu nway, the special dish was like a Burmese pad Thai. I thought the fried chicken was satisfying, but if you're looking for a "best fried chicken", I'm not sure this would be it. The house sauce for the fried chicken is a sweet and sour sauce. Staff were extremely friendly. Portions are normal sized. Restaurant is an order at the front and self service water, utensils type of place such as Nong's. I'd come back again when I'm craving Asian comfort food.

Fried chicken marinated in garlic, ginger, lemongrass, curry leaves and Rangoon masala. Accompanied by coconut rice.

To speak about Teardrop Lounge, I should probably start with this:…read more Ladies and gentlemen, I present my favorite cocktail bar. Not the best -- I'm not arrogant enough to claim that. I haven't been to every cocktail bar in Portland, and saying something is the best usually says more about your lack of experience than your conviction. But favorite? That I can stand behind. And I want to get that out of the way early, because of the amount of praise I'm about to pour on this place -- fully earned, completely intentional. The biggest crime here is that I only discovered it two weeks ago, after living in Portland for a year. It had been recommended to me countless times, and I ignored it. A mistake. A painful one. But now that I've found it, I don't plan on making that mistake again. I'm not typically an Old Fashioned drinker. In fact, I usually hate them. But somewhere between curiosity and too many episodes of Mad Men, I decided to try one anyway -- fully expecting to confirm my bias. Instead, it completely flipped me. Bright, almost citrus-forward in a way that felt unusual but entirely intentional. Balanced, smooth, just enough burn to remind you what you're drinking without overwhelming it. It was the first time I actually understood the appeal. I'm pretty sure I grew a few chest hairs that night. That alone would've been impressive. But it didn't stop there. The space is beautiful -- clean, intentional, but not cold. The staff are excellent: personable, engaged, and most importantly, authentic. Not scripted, not performative. The kind of people you actually want to talk to, and hopefully, eventually be on a first-name basis with. Now, all of that gets it close to a perfect score. But what pushes it over the edge -- what makes this place stick -- is the White Russian. One of the first drinks I ever had. My dad's drink. Not because of The Big Lebowski -- that came later -- but because it's just always been his thing. And at some point, it became mine too. Typically, when bars try to "elevate" a White Russian, they ruin it. They overthink it. Swap ingredients, tweak ratios, add unnecessary flair. And more often than not, it ends in disappointment. Teardrop does the opposite. They respect it -- but refine it. The coffee liqueur actually tastes like coffee. The heavy cream is properly integrated, not just dumped on top. The vodka -- whatever they're using -- is clean, present, and perfectly measured. There's a subtle complexity to it without losing what makes the drink what it is. It's the best White Russian I've ever had. No hesitation. I've gone back twice just to make sure it wasn't a fluke. It wasn't. If someone asked me what my death row drink would be -- this specific cocktail, from this specific bar, is in the conversation. Easily. Teardrop Lounge doesn't just make great cocktails. It reminds you why cocktails matter in the first place. And that's why it's my favorite.

One of the best parts was how approachable the bartenders were. We asked for custom drinks based on our preferences, and both came out perfectly tailored. Creative without being weird, and strong without being sloppy. What really stood out was the price point. For the quality of cocktails, the prices felt very reasonable compared to similar craft cocktail bars in other cities. The vibe was also great -- relaxed, cozy, and not pretentious. It felt like a place where you could come for a special drink experience without feeling like you had to "perform" or order off a rigid menu. We liked it so much we actually came back a second time during our trip. Highly recommend if you're into well-crafted cocktails, friendly bartenders, and a laid-back but elevated atmosphere.
