Tenders were cooked nice, relatively juicy and the mild was slightly spicy and coated with some spices. Ambience = Lloyd Center food court. For being located at the Lloyd center which is pretty dead, this place had a line so it must be good! The menu is limited but I think that is a good thing. They had wings or tenders and I did not see any option to only do them ala carte so I assume they all include fries. I had the 3 piece tenders with hot honey but they didn't give me the hot honey, just hot sauce and by the time I noticed I didn't want to go back. But the chicken was good. It was def fresh chicken and it was good, but I really didn't enjoy it without a dip or the hot honey. The fries are fresh cut and I think they might need to be either cooked longer or at a higher heat to give them some crisp. But I don't think people come here for the fries. Oh and there was a surpise piece of white bread sprinkled with some sort of cheese. I don't usually eat white bread but had a few bites and it was pretty tasty. Overall it wasn't a bad place at all. The guys frying the chicken were really friendly when they called your number. I will note that I took photos of the menu and can't believe how food prices have literally DOUBLED in 5 years. Their older menu photos has 3 tenders or 3 wings for $6 snd now they are $12! I will upload the newer prices so other don't think the $6 menu is still going. read more

I almost passed on dining here because of its location--in the center of a dying mall. However once I turned the corner and saw LoRell's Chicken Shack, the reviews truly made sense. Inside of this 15% operating mall is one of THE BEST chicken spot I've had in a while. And they were selling out fast. This is the craziest review I've ever written here. LoRell's is, as others have mentioned, one of the few holdouts in a dying mall. We entered at the far end, and we almost gave up before making our way up to what's left of the food court. Then, hearing that LoRell's was blasting music so loud that it was almost impossible to place our order, we almost gave up again. But... I'm glad we persevered. For twenty bucks we got eight hot honey wings and fried with two drinks. The wings and fries were incredible. Super fresh, super hot, and super tasty. 4.5 stars, if I could choose that. it was much better than just GOOD. My wife shared a video about this spot, I think was on the local news. We are happy they shared it. The story was about a dead mall but with great fried chicken. They were right, and it wasn't all dead. It was my first time in the Loyd Center Mall. I was expecting a ghost town. There were a lot of people in there, and shops open too. Anyways, back to the chicken. We were starving, and fading fast... this brought us back to life! And put a smile on our faces. Thanks LoRell's! They have tenders, someone needs to post a current menu. I was worried they only had wings, that is not the case. We got mild tenders with fries. They were really great, flavorful crispy, moist and the best part not greasy at all. I'm not really sure how they did that. It's impressive. They came with BBQ sauce, which was very good. They also have hot honey, which I love and will be getting next time. The cook and the owner (who walked by the seating area and asked if everything was good) were friendly. We will be back, and are glad they seem to be doing well, with many people arriving to order food. One suggestion/request would be ranch sauce. Oh, and I forgot to mention, the fries are fried very dark. They seem to be real fresh cut fries. They were good, a little more crispy would be even better. One last thing to mention, everything was very very hot, in a good way. Nothing sitting under a lamp. I love hot fried chicken. Man I can't believe how good this chicken was. Juicy, super flavorful and hot! I really hope they never get shut down and Lloyd center stays afloat for a long time. Moving from an area in which Canes is commonly found, it's been difficult to adapt to an area that lacks decent chicken tenders. After searching, I found this spot. The only downside, is the location, as they're on the third floor of the Lloyd center. I was anticipating a food truck but I'm not disappointed, just found myself lost initially. Nonetheless, these strips were cooked to perfection with a delicious crunchy shell topped with what seemed to be a citrusy seasoning. I absolutely love it! And not to mention their house sauce that is worth dipping every ounce of this chicken in. The fries are crispy and cooked almost as perfectly as the chicken. Question: Could this place be as good as reviews. Answer: YES! An absolute gem of a "Chicken Shack" located in the Food Court at Lloyd Center. I got the 5 Chicken Tenders, Fries and honey sauce, and I don't believe I've ever had better chicken in my life, and the fries were crispy and fresh. Portions sizes are huge, so expect leftovers. The two dudes running the place were very cool, too. They were busy, so we wandered after we ordered. When we came back a few minutes later, they made eye contact from across the food court, pointed at us and then our order, then said "thanks for your business, we appreciate it!" Really great chicken... from one of the nicest people you could ever meet! We were going to be driving, so I asked him if the strips were as good as the wings, and he told me "It's all great!" with a huge smile. Well, absolutely then, an order of chicken strips with the honey hot sauce it would be. He assured me that it was hot enough to be tasty, but not so hot as to make you sweat or anything challenging like that. He was right on all counts! I've really never had chicken strips like this... delightfully crispity chrunchity, lightly glazed in a honey hot sauce and then something else, is it cheese, I dunno, sprinkled over it. Oh, this was wonderful, really wonderful and, despite being all white meat, was not dry at all. The flavors all really popped and made this the kind of experience where you are like "what is that? Yum!" But the real 5-star business has to come from the extra generous and loving personality of the owner. My goodness! Most times I am there, he is walking about, checking on customers to make sure they are happy, saying hello to everyone, his customers or not, even giving out hugs to those of us so lucky. He has become something like the ambassador of this cart pod! And, as such, I need to ask you for something, Portland. Good food. Wonderful guy. We WANT to keep this around and here comes Winter and all that weather that can drive a cartster right into the ground. My family frequents the LLoyds Center because of the Skating rink. We enter through the third level. On the way to the main elevator, you'll walk past LoRell's Chicken Shack. I love the old school music that livens up the third level. Brings back a lot of memories of the old days back in Compton. There are a few open eateries up there and I just wanted to give them a try. OMG! "Broke my mouf" (a saying in the islands that means, "This is so freaking good, unbelievable"). Anyway, no exaggeration, this establishment knows how to do chicken! The flavors, the right seasonings and temperature...kudos to you. I challenge folks who want good chicken, to give these guys a try. I've gone to the big boys for chicken (Chain restaurants), and they do mass production, which is expected, and it is good. But if you want to go out on a limb and really "treat" yourself to chicken, go to LoRell's, at the Lloyds Center. Service was 10/10, Some of the warmest folks in food service that I've met in Portland, they will make you feel like you've stepped into a family kitchen. The dredge and the crunch on the chicken tenders was outstanding. The chicken itself was truly perfect. you have don't need any extra dipping sauces. It was so crunchy and so juicy!! Nothing was over salted or soggy or sub-par in any way. I highly recommend getting the hot tenders or wings. The fresh fries and ketchup or simply perfect.
