Have been wanting to try this spot for a long time and I have to say the hot chicken sandwich did not disappoint. Definitely on the heavy side though. It's in a cluster of other restaurants as well so you can make a food adventure out of it if you bring a date or some friends. Highly recommend! Service is at the counter. Mainly outdoor seating. Bring a jacket! Portland can be cold.

The service was quick and easy. They bring out the food to your table with the number they gave you. The sandwiches are massive! It can be easily shared as two sandwiches! The fries are also shareable with that Szechuan pepper kick and pickles and cilantro mix - AMAZING. The Zipper is a shared space so it is welcoming! Will be back to try other foods!

Delicious spot to have a spicy fried chicken sandwich. Solid fries, dog friendly, though they don't have dog options on the menu, they did offer to not salt the fries I was getting the dog. Super awesome service.

Checking in for the first time! Grabbed an IPA from Pinetop while waiting on a fried chicken sandwich. Cool vibes!

The cashier was very helpful and courteous!! Watching her dealing with other customers revealed the same cool attitude!! Now to the food: I purchased the chicken sandwich with crispy fries. Literally, the best fried chicken sandwich I've had so far at any restaurant. Huge serving with two perfectly fried pieces of scrumptious chicken. I'm not big of a chicken, but this is definitely one of the things that I will come back time and time again. My wife, who loves chicken will love this place! I had no idea that this place even existed and that there is like three or four restaurants within the same complex. Pretty dang cool!! Might be coming here for the next couple weeks while I'm visiting. The beer was really on point as well. The surrounding area kind of looks suspicious, but nobody seemed to bother or be bothered by anybody. I'm gonna make this one of my top visits while in Portland!!

Pretty decent Fried chicken sandwich. Very crunchy and decent. Nice outdoor space, shared with the other restaurants in the zipper. I have seen a lot of good reviews of this place but felt like the chicken wasn't as impressive to me. The fried part was a bit too oily for me and it felt as though the fried chicken was three pieces of thin meat and not as much chicken. It also felt like my fried chicken was left in the fryer a little too long. It could've just been the day. It's nice that they had hot sauce at the bar that you could easily choose from, though the labels were a little hard to read. The service was really nice though and helpful.

Great chicken sandwich, the crunchiest I've ever had. The restaurant is in a building with a few other eateries: A pizza place, Taco place and a Boba/ Banh Mhi place. You order at the front and take a number. Indoor and outdoor seating with a fire pit.

Still coming back. Staff kills it every time, always good if not better each time. Best chicken in town. Warm fire outside. Get your hard drinks next door. Please bring a food truck or second location to Gresham. You guys would crush it out there.

I prefer their scrumptious fried chicken in their salad versus the difficult to eat sandwhich.

Still #1 for fried chicken in a town that does it well. And service has gotten much friendlier compared to years past.

Basilisk is part of the Zipper with a handful of food options and a bar. There's plenty of seating and fire pits outside. Nice place to hangout as there's something for everyone. The ordering process was easy and the staff brought out our order directly to us. The coke float was interesting but good. It had a kool aid soft serve ice cream topped with Coca Cola, their twist on a classic root beer float.

Is the fried chicken batter gluten free/is there anything gluten free on the menu?

The fried chicken is not gluten free.

    Is outside seating dog friendly?

    Yes

    Do they have beer?

I think they have a very limited selection but it doesn't really matter because all of the places at the Zipper are situated around a common seating area and you can always get food from one or more places and beer and cocktails from Paydirt.

And while the chicken parm wasn't my favorite, literally every pasta dish I've had has been excellent. Also the penne cotta? Wow. The wild mushroom ragu is rich! My personal favorite is the squid ink pasta with scallops - I've ordered this one a few times and it always slaps. Don't skip the focaccia. The bread with their olive oil is simple but truly unforgettable. The cocktails are consistently great, the atmosphere feels on brand without feeling stuffy like olive garden, and it's perfect for a date night, anniversary dinner, or catching up with friends. Portland has a lot of Italian restaurants, but Gabiano's remains one of my favorites.

We walked in at about 6:30pm on a Wednesday night and was kind of greeted by one of the servers. She wasn't too friendly and seemed to be irritated that we said we'd wait for a table as opposed to sitting at the bar. Once seated, that same server came over to try to take our orders and once again seemed irritated that we weren't ready to order. Luckily, another server took over from there and we had a pleasant anniversary meal the rest of the time! Here's everything we tried: Devilish Eggs - This came with 4 deviled eggs and was just okay. The crispy bacon pieces was the best part of this dish! Steak Tartare - This was the main reason we chose this restaurant and we were definitely not disappointed! We spent our first anniversary together in Europe and had so much tartare and this really brought back some wonderful memories for us. The tartare was rich and mustardy, beef flavor was great, and it sort of just melted in your mouth. The crispy chips paired well with the tartare and I can't wait to come back and have this again! Mussels - This was a big bowl of mussels in a white wine garlic sauce with toasted baguettes. Mussels tasted fresh and garlicky with just a bit of funk from whatever cheese they grated on top. The toasted baguettes were so good dipped into that white wine broth. I wish this dish came with skinny fries but it was also so good as is. Would definitely order this again! Field Greens - I asked for this to come out with my meal but it came out about 10 minutes before the entrees came out. It was very light and refreshing. I saved half to have with my meal but most of it was wilted already by the time our mains came out. But it's okay! The fried chicken actually had a small portion of this salad on its plate. I wouldn't have ordered this had I known, so next time will skip the side salad altogether! Fried chicken - I really wanted to like this dish but alas, fried chicken breast is very hard to make juicy. I definitely prefer dark meat because that's harder to mess up. My partner enjoyed it but he doesn't mind dry chicken. The sauces were phenomenal! That mustard sauce was great and the sweet glaze was delicious! The potatoes would have been a lot better if they were smaller to get more of that crust to creamy potato ratio but still okay the way it was. My fiance cleaned this plate up! Brown Butter Cake - This cake was phenomenal! It's hard to mess anything with Brown Butter up so I had really high expectations for this and they certainly did not disappoint. The server was nice enough to throw candles on it since we were celebrating and it really ended our meal on the sweetest note! The restaurant itself is small and cozy. A bit dark and romantic. It really reminded me of the small bistros in France that we frequented while we were out there. We'll definitely be back to try other things on the menu!

She took our menus without asking if we wanted anything else, which felt rushed and dismissive. We ordered cocktails and later noticed they had a drink with CBD and THC in it. When we tried to order one at the bar, she came to our table to tell us she couldn't serve it to us because we had already had a cocktail. That seemed extremely odd, especially since there was no explanation of that policy beforehand. I asked another bartender about it, and he said he would have ordered one for us and even agreed it was strange. That confirmed for me that the issue didn't seem to be policy, but the way she handled the situation. Based on the attitude and the inconsistent service we experienced, management seriously needs to address this. Staff representing a business should be welcoming and consistent, and unfortunately that was not the case tonight. If this is the level of service being provided, it's something ownership should take seriously.

The chicken-apple sausage is my favorite... cooked to its charred and retained some juicy inside the sausage, very tasty with potato cakes and scrambled eggs cooked to its perfection. I can't even complain as I wiped the plate clean. Very filling for one big plate. Checked in ~5min early, and ended up waiting for ~15min past reservation time because the hostess did not let us know we had to check-in *again* when the person parking the car had made it to the restaurant. We ended up with what was, in my opinion, the worst table in the restaurant, after watching several parties of the same size seated at 'better' tables, all of which had arrived after the driver, who was there less than 2 min later (so still prior to scheduled time) after I was at the hostess stand, and we were seated waiting in direct view of the hostess. PLEASE be clear in your communication about this policy: it was neither clearly posted anywhere nor voiced - it wasn't a huge inconvenience, but I would have much preferred being sat in the main area. The restaurant areas are each different: the bar area itself is the least interesting: several seating booths and the bar, closest to the bathrooms. The main dining area has more seating, a fireplace and the self serve coffee bar - I LOVE this feature, and even saw a Wonderwood Springs mug. Shoutout to my favorite neighborhood merriment maker, Mike Bennett (if you haven't been there, go. Do the mini golf... but this review isn't about WW, so... moving on) We ordered a couple of adult beverages: the Bloody Mary was *fantastic* and I'm grateful to the server for suggesting to mix the two infused vodkas I was torn between. Hot peppered pickle was *chef's kiss* and gave me all the things I crave in a bloody: slice, twang, umami. The mix was the perfect consistency (nothing worse than a great tasting Bloody Mary that's too thick/thin), and it didn't get too watered down as breakfast went on. Baby Daddy's iced "Shed's on Fire" was... alright. The highlight was the espresso bean that he didn't even get because I stole it (Mother's Day... amirite?). I'm not sure if it was the 151 or if it's because I don't drink much anymore, but all I could taste was the alcohol, so I didn't feel it was very balanced - I would have preferred a more coffee forward taste, especially since our server said the iced version was made you cold brew. I had anticipated it being stronger in coffee flavor. I'm a sucker for anything crab, so when we were told the special was a crab cake Benedict, I was sold (so was my kiddo) - didn't really look at the rest of the menu, and if I'm honest, I'm kind of sad I didn't. It's not that the CCB was bad, but it was just alright/nothing to write home about. I couldn't tell if the crab used was Dungeness, fresh, or something from a can, there wasn't much flavor to the cake itself (it was honestly overpowered by the egg & hollandaise combination) and made me want to go home and try to make my own (Dungeness) cakes. The highlight of my breakfast was the grits, when they first came from the back: note to future me/the person reading this reciew: eat them first/fresh & hot- by the time I came back to them, they had cooled & congealed *sad panda* My son is a culinary student (has studied at Johnson & Wales) said the same thing about the cakes - lack of flavor, needs something additional, couldn't tell what type of crab was used, etc and was also disappointed. The highlight for him was the potato cakes, and I'm pretty sure he is going to try to replicate those at home now!! All in all, we weren't exactly disappointed in our Tin Shed visit, but I'm not sure it tops the list of our favorite Portland breakfast/brunch spots. I'm sure we'll come back, but next time I'll try something on menu and get a biscuit - those b*+ches looked dang amazing on everyone's plates as they walked out of the kitchen!!

On our first visit we had a reservation and were seated at a table. After ordering, patrons are served a complimentary leek soup in an espresso size cup. I wish it were on the menu because it is one of the best things I've ever tasted. The flavor is incredibly rich! We ordered the clam chowder, halibut, maple glazed carrots and tres leches cake. The clam chowder's presentation was nicely done but nothing special in taste. It came so highly recommended on Reddit and many other diners ordered it but neither my party nor I cared for it. The halibut was good but didn't stand out and the maple glazed carrots weren't to my taste. What completely won us over was the tres leches cake. It is one of the most delicious and most memorable desserts we've ever had. Every layer complemented the next perfectly creating an incredibly balanced dessert that wasn't overly sweet with different textures. We couldn't stop talking about it afterward. It was one of the reasons we decided to give the restaurant a second shot. After our meal I mentioned to our server that we weren't sure if we'd ordered the right dishes since we weren't thrilled with the food especially with how popular the restaurant is. He explained that it's primarily an Argentinian steakhouse and suggested returning to try the meat dishes. On our second visit we arrived at opening without a reservation. There was plenty of seating but since we didn't have a reservation we were seated at the bar. I didn't mind seated at the bar but the bar stools were extremely uncomfortable, almost torturous. Unfortunately, it was too hot to sit outside. Midway through dinner a machine, maybe a dishwasher, was turned on behind the bar. It was loud and the vibrations could be felt. This time we ordered the beet salad, cheese empanada, beef empanada, two filet mignons and the lamb shoulder. The beet salad was a disappointment. It consisted of large overly soft chunks of beets with what tasted like a basic grocery store salad dressing. For a restaurant of this caliber I expected more. Neither of us enjoyed the cheese empanada but we both liked the beef empanada. We also ordered two filet mignons cooked the same way. Both arrived more done than requested and one way more overcooked than the other. They were also on the salty side, though both were very tender. The lamb shoulder, which our server had already warned us about before we ordered, ended up being dry and tough. The chimichurri served alongside the savory dishes was also heavier on onions than I prefer. Overall, the service was excellent, and the complimentary leek soup and tres leches cake were truly outstanding. Unfortunately, despite two visits, the main dishes we ordered didn't live up to the restaurant's reputation for us.
