Everything was fresh and hot the chicken was very juicy and the rice was fluffy! The customer service is amazing I was greeted immediately and, given proper time to look over the menu before I ordered. I literally was standing there for 3 mins and my meal was packed and really to go. It's in downtown sw college town (near PSU) and, it's a roll of various food carts w/ music playing. I went during lunch time and, it was busy so just expected a wait I was first in line so got my food first. First of all, their food is amazing and comes in . It's the best just straight up teriyaki and salad bowl I've ever had and I've been all sorts of places. Chicken is perfectly cooked, the mandu are delicious, sauce is great, the salad could be something healthier but it just complements the dish so amazingly. And whatever they use for salad dressing is just... fantastic, works well with everything. Just eat here. I first discovered Dosirak in 2009, like right when they first opened. The couple who run it are amazing, friendly folks. While it used to be a place I'd go multiple times a month, these days it's more sporadic as I no longer am nearby - maybe once or twice per year, but sometimes it's longer between. It's been 12 years, the food is still perfection, and through all the changes and (literal) transitions in my life they've always been extremely warm and welcoming and know to leave my container just slightly open so I can pour on the sambal. I feel like I'm special to them to this day and I see them make a point to make everyone who comes by feel that way. This is why supporting small, local businesses is so important. Warning: A "small" bowl of teriyaki chicken here is an absurd amount of food anywhere else. I ALWAYS have leftovers for like two more meals after eating what fills me up. I don't even want to know how long a "large" bowl would last me. Probably at least a week. Anyway, not only do they give you a lot of food, but the food is high quality. Some of the best teriyaki chicken I've had! It's literally grilled so you get that smoky grilled chicken flavor as opposed to what I've seen other places do which is just having a bunch of already chicken sitting in a vat of liquid and just slopping onto rice. This chicken is grilled when you order it! The sauce is great (they don't put too much), and the rice is great! I also love their pot stickers. I only have a few notes on possible areas of improvement: they have a wide array of hot sauces for their pot stickers and teriyaki, but I love potsticker sauce that has soy sauce, hot sauce, and vinegar mixed together. They have the hot-sauce and vinegar mixture but all they're missing is the soy sauce. I usually take some of the hot-sauce/vinegar mixture home and add the soy sauce myself. Please add a soy sauce/hot sauce/vinegar condiment! Also the salad often gets a bit soggy with the dressing they put on. The dressing is good, but I think the problem is the lettuce they use which is simple iceberg. Replacing it with romaine or some other more hardy green like kale or arugula would make the salad a star. But for the price and quality and quantity of the food, these notes have zero effect on the five star rating they deserve. read more

I got the teriyaki chicken combo for $9 and it comes with the chicken on white rice, two potstickers, and salad. I believe you can also get brown rice if you're not in the mood to eat white rice. The salad had a really delicious dressing to it that tasted similar to miso dressing. The chicken also had a lot of great teriyaki and grilled flavor. One of the best parts about the food cart scene in Portland is that you get up close and personal with the owners and operators. These people are clearly pouring their heart, energy and finances into these little enterprises and well, there is no where to hide. They really get to meet and greet their public. During one of the last surprise sunny days in February, a few of us decided a road trip was in order for lunch in Portland. This cart pod is the most convenient for those south of the city since it is just off I-405. Parking is another story, but we lucked out there as well. Dosirak is shiny and bright and offers a very simple menu. The lunchbox is a nice portion of teriyaki chicken over your choice of white or brown rice. Finish it off with a simple side salad and two potstickers. A very satisfying meal for $6. The gentle charring on the chicken and the amount of sauce was just right and they carry my favorite sweet chili sauce. The only reason this is a praiseworthy four and not a rave five is that down in the burbs we have a couple of great teriyaki places, but I don't know of many Portlanders that leave the city for lunch. Chicken? Good! Rice? Good! Salad? Good! It's a simple bento box style cart. For the most part the chicken is grilled to perfection, with grill marks on it so you know it's the real deal. Some times I've had it where the chicken was pretty dry. Not sure how you can screw up rice but a few places on this food cart strip manages to do so. The rice here is consistently good. Not too hard and not too soggy and soft. I'm a fan of bento salad. I don't know what it is. I know it's from a pre made bag but I still love it. The gyoza is average. I love that this is thrown into the box as well. I was in a rush the other day and poured all of my soy sauce on it and it was way too salty. Don't make the same mistake I did! The cherry on top is the couple that owns the cart are super sweet! The husband will throw around some jokes and the wife is very friendly and kind. I've mentioned in reviews before the ubiquity of a certain type of teriyaki cooking in "happy noun" establishments. There's a second variety, what we might call "premium standard teriyaki". Still boilerplate but rather better than the "happy noun" variety. This is the premium stuff. They've only got chicken bento, the "lunchbox". Took maybe 5-6 minutes to get so nothing's sitting in a steam table. Big portion of chicken & rice (white or brown), two pot sticker type things (which they called something else) and a salad. Large enough to split with my main man Ron. He also got the special. Marketing genius. Second, I probably didn't need all the food this came with. I spent much of this summer (2012) wringing my hands and hoping and praying that Dosirak would, in fact, open up again come September. It's not uncommon in Portland's cart scene for a place to close for a specified period of time, never to reopen again (RIP Gin Northern Thai). Having received confirmation recently that they are, in fact, open again, I'm seriously rejoicing. Dosirak serves delicious, beautifully charred, sauced-with-balance chicken teriyaki. You get your choice of white or brown rice. I always order the #1 which includes the chicken and rice, along with a salad and a couple gyoza. One meal always equals two lunches (salad, gyoza, small portion chicken/rice on day one, and the remaining chicken and rice on day 2). Both meals are filling, and you get serious bang for your buck. The battle waged on inside me. Teriyaki - $4.00 for rice and chicken. Banh Mi - $3.50 for a sandwich. I'll be honest though, I HAD been eyeing the salad/gyoza/teriyaki combo at this little food cart, Dosirak, that was $6.00. As a broke college student would, I convinced myself to go for the economical $4.00 rice bowl where I would most likely have leftovers (as with the sandwich...I would not.) WHO WAS I KIDDING?! Once I saw the close up photo of the $6.00 combo I caved in. I wanted gyoza! I wanted teriyaki chicken! And the salad...well...vegetables are healthy, right? 6 dollars and I was sold! Amazingly, you could choose brown rice or white rice and they did NOT charge extra for brown rice! WOW. What a concept, right? Not penalizing patrons for wanting to make a healthier choice! (I've paid TWO dollars extra for ONE scoop of brown rice instead of ONE scoop of white in the past -_-) I stood there chatting with the owners as they prepped my order (they are VERY nice!), eyeing them dish up the food. First came the salad, I have no idea how that woman fit SO much salad into the take-out box. Let me just say this, they have this wooden block coated in plastic (so it can be sanitized...NICE!) and she had to put that block on top of the take out box so it would stay closed while my chicken was being grilled. As I continued chatting with the guy, I discreetly (I hope) watched him take piece after piece of chicken off the grill, cut it, and pile it onto my rice. Seriously. If you imagine 3-4 average sized chicken breasts, that is how much meat got stuffed into my takeout box. Now let me say this: when I eat teriyaki, I like teriyaki sauce. I like having it on the table. I like being able to add however much I want, so the meat is lightly coated but not soaked. So I was skeptical ordering from a cart - alas I would have no bottle of teriyaki to put on my food. But guess what? I DIDN'T NEED IT! He squirted the marinated chicken perfectly with a bottle of teriyaki. I literally spoke outloud to myself as I was eating it. The salad was amazing as well - and I don't usually care for the salad too much from teriyaki places. It comes with a miso dressing and it's just...so good. The gyoza was tasty and hot (they cook it to order!) I went back up to the cart to tell them how delicious it was. If you feel the same, you should too, no matter where you go! read more

Yes! and no extra charge! Teriyaki sauce? Not ungodly salty! Or too sweet. For plain old teriyaki haters, they pour most of the sauce on last minute so you can ask them to hold off and pour one of the couple sweet chili sauces, sriracha, or mystery bottle of what looked like another hot chili sauce (I pour a little on mine, didn't notice much heat but I didn't use much) to replace the standard. I eat lunch at the food carts across from PSU semi regularly and Dosirak stands out with yummy teriyaki bowls at a great value. Everything here is simple and tasty. You can choose between a teriyaki plate or a gyoza plate. They will also include vegetables and your choice of brown or white rice. The standard plates go for about 7 bucks and you can easily share a plate between two people. They. Do. Not. Skimp. On. The. Meat. If you want to stave off a veritable food coma, then you can also get a smaller "teriyaki bowl" for about 5 bucks. Be forewarned though that if you intend to pay with a credit card, then be prepared to pay a 50 cent surcharge for use of their square terminal.
