Of course my favorite chicken spot closes. Why? Will they open another? Who else in Oregon has chicken similar to this? read more

I loved chicken and gunz the first time I moved out here, 7-10 years ago. I don't know what happened, but they were the best. Quality dropped in the last few years (mostly just too dry the last few times we tried it imo). I hope they reset and come back, but as the old chicken and gunz, cuz it was our first stop for YEARS and we miss it! read more

I'm so so embarrassed. I didn't get any guns. Chicken only for this lame guy. Anyway, what I got instead of the 'guns' (a salad) was fresh n' delicious. I also appreciated the prices, which aren't yet insanely inflated like everything else in our TACO world is right now. read more

Chicken and Gunz will be closing soon so hit them up while you still can. They're located in the Cartopia food cart pods. Reason we didn't do dinner there is because they only sell chicken and/or gunz. So you have to be in the mood for one or the the other. We just stopped by to get an order of their Guns(crispy potatoes) with pickled onion on them. They were perfectly brown with a satisfying crunch. We shared a large order and it came with 2 sides of Peruvian aji(creamy jalapeño, garlic, lime, & cilantro) perfect for dipping, not spicy at all. It had a great flavor to it and was a great side. I recommend taking some gunz a few onions then dipping them in the sauce and Bon Appétit. Parking can be rough, some tight streets in that area. read more

Had to try their wood smoked wings. Flavorful with a lemon pepper type dry rub. The chicken was a bit dried out but the sauces on the side helped. Honestly you don't even need the sauce that's how tasty it was. 1 wing is the flat and the drum. read more

Anthony was working hard, and the place was busy!! Delicious chicken and potatoes, we got the aji sauce, says spicy but isn't. Definitely could be a lot spicer. Overall we loved the decor of the cart and the entire meal was on point and neat. If you want flavorful and soft chicken with some optional amazing potatoes.... Do not skip this place! read more

Chicken and Guns - 1/4 Chicken Bird - Food Stands Near Me - Portland, Oregon

I've heard great things about the food cart scene in Portland, so I was excited to try Chickens and Guns. I ended up ordering the quarter bird with the guns and Peruvian aji. The guns here, which are crispy potatoes, are so good!! I loved the seasoning and the crispness of them. My main complaint is that I feel like the chicken to potato ratio was pretty bad because I only got about 2 small pieces of chicken but a lot of potatoes. The chicken itself could've also been more flavorful, but it was still enjoyable as is. Overall, I feel like for the quality and quantity food, this was overpriced for what it was. The restaurant itself is moreso a stand in Cartopia and there's not much service other than when you order and pick up your food. When I went, there was no line so service was pretty quick. read more

The first time I had this I thought it was the absolute best grilled chicken I've ever had. The potatoes are also amazing, and even the salad was delicious! I wanted to go back the next day. If you just get the wings they are still delicious but were a little dry compared to the amazingly juicy chicken. read more

Came to check out this spot with the family, the four of us (girls 8 & 11) shared a whole bird. The minute we got our food, I couldn't wait to dig in. The chicken was piping hot, moist, and flavorful. I really dig the chimichurri sauce, dipped the potato in it as well. Not a whole lot to say, this was a great meal and reasonably priced, would absolutely come again. read more

Solid spicy chicken wings! We drove out to their brick and mortar location and totally enjoyed the scenery and lunch. Bloody maria boot was super spicy and made with tequila. My wife had a Breakside Wanderlust IPA. We sort of hit a bit of everything with the wings, 1/4 chicken, potato salad and short ribs. Everything was super tasty and I would order again. Interior and exterior decor was rustic and fun with super cheesy old old school country music playing. The bathroom was clean and totally cracked me up because the walls had framed 1970ish Semi trucks with models of the time posed next to them. Service was friendly and fast! Fun place to check out! read more

After many trips here with flawless service and delicious food, it's time to Yelp about my love for this chicken, the sauced, and those crispy, steaming hot potatoes. I really like this place and the food park it resides in. Even in the winter, there's always warm, protected table with a fire pit to cozy up to. While others noted rube behavior from the counter help, I've only experienced fun, engaged people here(about 8 visits in 4 years). That's not a huge sample size but my experience is consistent and delightful. I'll be back! read more

Chicken and guns was pretty good. The food was decent and the potatoes were good too. I loved the pickled onions the most (but I just love pickled onions) The food was pretty good but just a bit dry. The cartopia place has a nice ambiance. I liked the vibe of the food truck too. Our food came out pretty quickly, not a super long wait. Also - they had no line. The person working the food truck was nice too Overall, it was a good experience read more

Delicious and juicy bird! It's a tad pricey but the meat is tender and well cooked. Seasoning is subtle and brings out the chicken's natural flavor. Both of the sauces were good. The guns aka potatoes are good too. We couldn't finish 1/2 bird with two people. The ambiance of cartopia was wonderfully lively and we were luckily to find a table. Everything is self serve. Worst FOOD BORNE illness I have ever had!!!! (and I've traveled all over the world!) This place should be shut down for health violations! I ordered the Taku Taku and have been sick for weeks ever since. I found out it's made from left over rice and my symptoms matched "fried rice syndrome", a food poisoning caused by the Bacillus cereus (B. cereus) bacterium. Reheated rice syndrome can happen if you reheat and then eat rice that was previously not stored correctly. I am absolutely haunted by this meal and have been trying to get my gut biome back in track ever since (it's been over a month) read more

In the food cart capital of the US, there are plenty of options to choose from! Located within Cartopia in SE, Chicken and Guns has to be one of the best carts in that block. Specalizing in chicken and their unique take on fries, you won't be disappointed. With a limited menu of a quarter, half, or whole bird with wings and guns as options for your side... you really can't go wrong. We opted for the quarter bird and wings. The star of the show was definitely the chicken (both the quarter bird and the wings). They were perfectly cooked, juicy, and tender on the inside with a good crisp on the outside. The seasoning was spot-on, with just the right amount of smokiness and spice. The Guns were out of this world too. Simple potatoes that were so good and complimented the chicken perfectly. The sauces were amazing - wanted to just drink them (yes, they were that good). The atmosphere is awesome, we took a seat at the firepit right in front of the cart and thoroughly enjoyed our meal! Highly recommend Chicken and Guns!! read more

I got a quarter bird + guns + peruvian aji. They give you a buzzer to let you know when your order is ready while you check out the other food carts/stalls or grab a table. The chicken was seasoned and cooked really well. It was juicy. One of the best chicken I have had in awhile. The guns (potatoes) was really crispy and delicious. And lets not forget about that peruvian aji sauce. I really enjoyed dipping everything in that. My bf loved it so much he wanted to order more, but we had another food stop to make after this. We have been here multiple times. Love the food, drinks are usually very solid. Love the rustic look of the cabin diner. Not a lot of light, but I kind of dig that. Drip coffee is alright, it's a little bitter, but again I dig that. As stated before, I'm not a fan of the seat yourself and bar service to order. I'd rather sit down and be taken care of. This particular time we came as a family for breakfast they were also out of orange juice (which the guy said he had some at the bar but wasn't going to sell it to us in case someone wanted a mimosa). I thought that was kind of ridiculous, my son couldn't get orange juice "just in case". But it is what it is. The black bean breakfast burrito was delicious. Homemade tortillas are a nice touch. Slaw is solid. Good place. Good food. Good music. Usually no problems. 9.1/10 read more

Food came fast, chicken was good though I wish there was a little more meat on it. Potatoes were delightfully crispy and the chimichurri sauce added a nice touch to cut the heaviness from the fried. Super moist and flavorful chicken. I love the char flavor on it and I can never get enough of the Peruvian aji sauce. Sometimes the chicken can be too say or the portion size can be inconsistent. If you want more chicken, I recommend getting two orders of the quarter bird rather than one order of the half bird. We ordered a quarter on one visit and a half on another and the half isn't any much more than the quarter portion-wise. read more

Seat yourself, order and pay at the counter. Full bar and a large selection of beer available as well as a coffee bar. The music is loud, it wasn't live rather over a speaker and annoying. My hamburger was well done-actually tasted burnt. ($15.00) The potato nuggets are baked then fried and were yummy. Diet Coke was available which is always a plus. It was my first visit and I wasn't impressed. read more

For all the coverage this place gets I thought it was just ok. The wife and I split the guns and wings as it was wing week when we visited and they were 6 for $6....otherwise they would be overpriced. As with most if not all chicken spots, the price of fried chicken is too damn high. The wings had a nice smoke flavor and I would get them again....but only at this price point. The gunz which was the main reason I wanted to come was just meh. I mean they're just fried hard whole potatoes...yeah the aji is good but most Peruvian places have it on the regular so all in all....just ok. read more

Fantastic smoked fried wings! I drop by whenever I am in Portland. It's not to be missed.

My son wanted to come to Chicken and Guns and I am not personally a huge fan of smoked meat. We ordered the whole bird and guns. The chicken was tender and juicy and had smoke flavor. The potatoes were crispy and had some nice salt on them. I'm only giving 4 stars because I just don't like the smoke flavor on any meat but if you like that flavor I'm sure you'll like this place. read more

I love this food cart the food is always great! I had the quarter bird and guns (potatoes) with ahi sauce. The chicken was was well seasoned, flavorsome, tender, juicy and the chicken is falling off the bone. The potatoes are twice cooked and always very crisp. Unexpected food cart gem. As you walk through all the carts there's an instant unique scent that lures you in then it's too late. You find yourself ordering chicken from here.
