This restaurant was definitely one of our favorites during our Oregon trip. There's a parking lot across the street so it's easily accessible. My friend and I both walked in around 2pm. The servers greeted us immediately and sat us down upstairs. It felt very homey, cozy and great vibes. Customer service was great! Ambiance was even better and the food was AMAZING. I've never had panang curry with trout and I am so glad we tried it, 10/10. We got some gyoza to share as well and it was a solid 8/10. Everything was devoured within 10 minutes. I went here, based on a double recommendation from the Marriott Bidwell, and am inclined to agree that the food and ambiance are terrific. It's also very casual with a sign welcoming all people. The food was excellent: spicy and flavorful, though they seemed worried about me ordering the highest spice level. They checked on me three times, which was sweet. The larb appetizer was a generous portion -- probably enough for five or six people! It was also tasty, with the flavors of fish sauce, lime and chili blending nicely. There were some nice chunks of chilis visible. The mixed seafood Pad Khi-Mao (their spelling of a dish I've seen spelled a number of different ways) was also delicious. Fiery, loaded with umami and balanced by basil, onions, scallions and tomato. The textures were perfect: the shrimp and calamari were firm, but not chewy. The scallops were perfectly tender, and the noodles toothsome. I loved every bite of my favorite Thai dish. Service was friendly and quick. read more

I don't usually review restaurants I've only gotten take-out from, but the food was toooo good not to. It was these meatballs. The chicken teriyaki meatball appetizer was SO GOOD. They were super tender, so juicy, literally the most perfect meatballs. Topped with some kind of cream sauce and lots of fresh green onion, it was perfect. I also got the massaman curry with tofu, which was a very generous portion! It was a good curry! And I loved the default rice not being plain white rice, mine had some kind of sprouted grain that (I feel like lol) made it more appetizing and fulfilling. The sweetness level was perfect and it was only $3! I definitely recommend you order the Gyoza, they were cooked perfectly and had a very nice crunch. The Khao Pad was a flavor bomb!! The Thai food here was absolutely superb. We ordered the Pad Thai and Crispy Trout and Green Papaya Salad. Service was flawless and very attentive, the inside of the restaurant was also very mellow and intimate. We've eaten Pad Thai in many places.... However, Thai Peacock is the ONLY restaurant so far where we've tasted true Wok Hei flavor! Kudos to the chef for an incredible Pad Thai experience. Well the drinks came first and let me tell you, if you've ever imagined mango sticky rice as an alcoholic drink, this is it. Literally tastes like the physical dish in liquid form. If you love mango sticky rice and you love cocktails, try this one out while it's still on the menu. As for the pad thai and crispy trout, it never disappoints. I also liked that they served lime juice in a cup so you aren't fighting with a little lime peel. My most reliable / favorite Thai food in all of Portland. Whenever I need to chose a place to eat downtown / pearl district I ALWAYS choose Thai Peacock. The service is friendly and food comes out pretty quickly, which is great if you've got a tight schedule. My go-to order is the Panang Curry and a Thai Lime Tea. Thai Peacock was near our hotel and we were craving something warm on a cold Portland day. We walked in around 645 on a saturday night and waited 20ish minutes for a table for 2. The staff were nice but seemingly understaffed so the service was a little slow because each person was managing multiple different things. I will say it's smaller on the inside even with the two stories so when there are multiple parties waiting, it's cramped. We wanted to try a cocktail and got the lychee daiquiri which is not as sweet as you would expect a daiquiri to be, which for me was a highlight because I don't typically like my drinks incredibly sweet. It was refreshing. We split the thai peacock curry and pad phet with tofu. We asked for spicy and they delivered. Definitely our favorite meal on our girls weekend. While delicious, my Thai friend said it did not taste like laab but still very good. For our mains, we got the pad see ew and pad khi mao. Both were very tasty and the rice noodles were cooked perfectly. Not too soft and it maintained a nice chew. I do wish there was a little bit more char on the stir fry though as I feel like that's a highlight in any stir fried Thai noodles dish for me. I also would've preferred a little more veggies in each dish. We asked for chili and they came back with this beautiful box of 4 different chili selections. For people with dietary restrictions, Thai Peacock has several gluten free and vegan options. We started with a papaya salad, $10 and an order of chicken teriyaki meatballs, $8. Both were good. Then we had the Kaeng Matsaman with seafood, $19. It was a curry dish that was excellent. For main courses, we had the crispy trout, which a deep fried fillet served on a small bed of greens, $11. It was tasty. Then we had the Larb with minced chicken, $12, Pad Thai with chicken, $16 and cabbage stir fry with tofu, $16. When we feel like eating Thai food near downtown, this is our go to place.
