When you need crickets for your gecko and it's getting late, and the poor thing has to eat, you can jump in here to grab a dozen or so and get on your way with medium speed. Sometimes you gotta wait just a bit for the staff to help you out (it seems that most pet stores these days are a little understaffed if you get more than a couple of customers in there), but that's only a mild inconvenience when you're shopping for your beloved cricketeater. Haven't used them for anything else than that--but most Petsmarts have the same thing this one does--dog food, cat food, birds, reptiles, and all the stuff you'll need to keep them properly fed, housed, clean, and even dressed. read more

Review based on Pets Hotel and Training. Pets Hotel: Brought my dog to the pets hotel for a weekend. She ended up coming home and having 3 decent sized bite marks on her with no explanation or anyone telling me she had them before we left. They didn't give her the proper amount of dog food she was supposed to have either. I put it all in baggies and separated it myself. She should've had two extra bags left over and didn't. I also left her treats she was supposed to have before bed. She never got those either. She was scheduled for a "welcome home bath" and that never happened due to them not scheduling the appointment when I booked. They did offer to bathe her in the doggie day care but that's not what I was wanting. Dog Training: If you're thinking about signing your dog up for dog training with Davona at this location just don't. She's burnt out and tired of trying. There was an aggressive dog in the training class that would not be removed after the first class because "her manager won't kick him out". He was extremely aggressive towards other dogs. Male or Female. We ended up having to start our training classes in the store due to this dog being in the class. Our non aggressive Saint Bernard ended up being the one that was told he was going to have to leave the class on the second visit because the aggressive dog is being male dominate. Ended up leaving and getting a refund from the assistant manager who didn't even know the situation happing. If one manager knows about something negative going on at the store they all should. read more

This location is what I would compare to a Phoenician Resort of Petsmart locations. They have a doggy daycare plus a pet hotel where they show movies with cats and dogs! The pet hotel even has a guest service person to check in your pet. They also have grooming and vet services. This is a very clean location with a large variety of products for your animals or little critters. I even saw a man buying crickets that were still alive. read more

I have never been treated so rudely by a manager in my life. I talked to Kris (woman manager) about my prescription dog food. I recently got the prescription from my vet about a month ago. My vet had forgotten to give me a card to show others places that I am approved to get said prescription. I came in and explained I am a 22 year old woman who works 50 hours a week and goes to school full time, i had just gotten off a 10 hour shift when I came in and explained my vet closed so I wasn't able to have them email me the special card. I also explained my dog has an incredibly weak stomach and CANNOT have human food and that I wasn't able to come in the next day so if I couldn't get his food he would not eat for two days (the day I went in and the next day). She kinda shook her head in confusion and bugged her eyes out like I was dumb and said "well we need a prescription". At this point I was in tears and said please, she simply laughed and said that's not her problem. I immediately walked out, called corporate and will continue to call corporate about this woman until she is reprimanded seriously. I have NEVER been treated so callously in my life. This woman should not be a manager at all. Don't come in to this store. On top of everything Sean the other manager from the store finally called me back. He was lethargic about the issue and quiet and basically didn't seem to care and just apologized in such a monotone careless way so I'm going to corporate again. We have been taking our two dogs to the pet hotel at the Stapely location for several years now. We are from out of state and our dogs enjoyed going to this pet hotel so we took them there each time we were in town. This past week we had a reservation and we had only one of our dogs with us this time. When I went to drop her off they rudely said they were booked and had been for months. One of those reservations was ours! They filled up and bumped us, so we had no accommodations now for our pet and plans for us changed. The staff at the pet hotel was quite rude, so thinking back I'm glad my pet wasn't staying with these unprofessional people. The staff is bad, they must have had a turnover of employees and had to hire just anyone to fill these jobs. That's enough for me and my pets well being. I'm looking for a new place and I urge anyone who loves their pets to NOT use this unprofessional business, it may be bad for your pets. If you are considering boarding your pet at the Pet hotel at this location, I would read this review very carefully first. I have two cats, Boo and Ari. Boo is a big cat, very friendly, very low maintenance, and loves people. Ari is a small cat, and very nervous. Ari will also hiss and swat at people occasionally if they get too close, but he never bites, and both cats are declawed, so despite his hissing, Ari is harmless. My boyfriend and I are going on a ten day vacation in February, and we wanted them to stay at this pet hotel while we were gone, but this past Saturday, 1/5/19, we brought them to the pet hotel for a trial run to make sure boarding was a feasible option for our cats. THANK GOD WE DID. In addition to being easily stressed, Ari also is prone to severe urinary tract infections that can cause a complete blockage in only a few days, so he requires a prescription diet. He also requires a feeding dish with two sides, otherwise he eats too fast and vomits. We brought his prescription food, his double-sided bowl, and gave instructions to have him eat ONLY this food, and separate the two cats during feeding time so Boo doesn't eat Ari's prescription food. When my boyfriend dropped off our cats, he explained all of these things in detail, but I also called and spoke to a pet hotel employee to reiterate instructions a second time. The employee seemed distracted and disinterested, and this caused concern. I told her I would call the following day to check on them, but instead, I decided to go up there right then for a surprise visit to see for myself how things were going. My boyfriend and I showed up twenty minutes after our phone conversation, and I asked to see our boys. We went back to the room, and both cats were in the same cage, despite the employee telling me just minutes earlier that they would be separated. Also, Ari had NOT been given his prescription food; he had been given their generic pet food instead, and his double-sided feeding bowl wasn't even in the cage. Our instructions had been completely ignored, and the employee had blatantly lied about separating them. Her excuse was that Ari was swatting at her, but I reminded her that he is DECLAWED, but she could have simply moved Boo instead, and left Ari alone. More importantly, that doesn't explain why he wasn't given his prescription food or his bowl. ZERO responsibility was taken by either employee that was up there. We asked to see the notes on our pets, and there were NO NOTES left about our cats. NONE. I was LIVID. I asked for our things and wanted to leave. When they brought out their two carriers, both were marked with the name "Boo", so they didn't even know which cat was which because there were no notes and the tags were marked wrong. A guy brought out Ari's food dish, and both cans of his prescription food. So that means he knew that food and bowl belonged to our cats, but just left it in the back. THEN, he gave us someone else's DOG LEASH, and also a white bag filled with things that also belonged to someone else. Keep in mind, this is only 8 HOURS into their stay.... can you imagine if I had let them stay there for 10 days?? It is not an exaggeration to say that Ari could literally have died without his specialized diet for that long. And the male employee clearly had no idea who those items belonged to that he was trying to give to us. I spoke to a manager; she seemed concerned and was very professional, but I'm writing this review to make sure something is done to prevent this in the future. I have honestly never seen an instance of such severe incompetence. The pet hotel seems to be run by a bunch of grossly negligent kids who couldn't care less about animals. This goes WAY beyond poor service; this place in DANGEROUS. read more

2 days ago my dog have grooming in the pet smart on Stapley in Mesa my dog is not aggressive at all is a Zhuhai little dog they charge me for all the pack of bathing and they didn't cut his nails at all charge me $68 dlls because they said he got a little more hair on it i guess because of the Covid 19 they wants charge more money and tips !! Feeling very upset with petsmart, I don't get a whole lot from there for the bunnies but I went in for these rice puffs that the boys love, well when I got there I noticed they had a bunny. The bunny was searching all around its cage.. At first I didn't know why until he would stop and eat a very small piece of hay and continue to search. The bunny had no pellets which is fine that's not their main part of their diet but then when I realized he was searching for food I got upset. Bunnies should have UNLIMITED access to hay I told the guy and then this girl said she would feed him again tonight with the rest of the animals. He also had all this bedding in his cage which typically is more harmful for them than anything else. Not ok petsmart. Feeding a bunny twice a day with pellets that's fine.. But hay? They need it constantly. Not to mention FRESH vegetables everyday. Saying something to multiple employees wasn't enough. If I had the space I would have taken that bunny right then and there. Sad that people working with these animals shared no compassion for this poor bun. This bunny was starving searching for food I can't even imagine what it's like for the rest of the animals. The training center is disappointing I choose this location because they had the soonest appointments for training. I had booked on the app and it was all set under my upcoming appointments. Fast forward to a few days before, I got a call but couldn't take it, so I called the next day and the trainer was busy, I was told I'd get a call back, and asked what the call was about. Was told that it was just to make sure I would be there on the date/time. Never got a call back so when I showed up to my appointment I got turned down and told to reschedule. The app doesn't confirm an appointment which isn't the employee's fault but the lack of communication is. Will try another location and see if that works. read more

The hotel is great but the grooming doesn't know how to handle a dog. I made an appointment to bring him in and they created him without telling me. I thought they were ready to bathe him and brush him after I brought him in. I didn't know he was going to have to wait. They stressed him out and I had to go pick him up without him being groomed. I love this location. I take my 5month German Shepard Koda there for his Grooming and Doctor needs. I think it's AMAZING that they were offering FREE pictures with Santa December 10-11th. That's so unique and definitely makes me love coming here even more. The line was worth the wait ! ---- I only have 2 negatives. The Santa did not look like Santa. You could tell in the picture and from watching that he wasn't "jolly" under his fake Santa beard. And you could see his dark brown beard under the white one and on the sides as if he didn't care enough to put the whole costume together. There were a lot of children there despite the photos being for animals the company should have put more effort in providing a believable Santa. The back drop for the photos were better than the other locations I've seen. I just wish Santa looked like Santa. Just picked my dog up from a couple day stay at the Petshotel and you can tell he had a blast! We were very apprehensive as we have never boarded him before. He was so happy and passed out shortly after getting him home. They made a special note about how well he ate, which is very abnormal as he is usually an extremely picky eater! Took our 2 1/2 yr old lab here for doggie day care. I was disappointed to learn they kennel the pets until 9:00 am and then bring them out to play. When we check in our dogs at another location the dogs are immediately brought into the play room to get their play on. We picked her up after 5:00 and she was kenneled again- not playing. I think we'll stick with the other location by my office- this was closer to our home. Staff was playing with pups in the playroom from the time we dropped her off to the time we picked her up. We didn't bring her to doggie day care to be kenneled most of the time- we are trying to enhance her social skills and get her separation anxiety better since she's a rescue. read more

I scheduled a puppy trim for my dog. The scheduled time was 10:15. When I arrived, they informed me that I was early as my appointment was at 11:00. After checking in my puppy and signing the paperwork, the groomer changed the price of the grooming. I stated I wanted him bathed and trimmed; she offered to trim his nails. I said why not. After agreeing to trimming his nails, she said the cost was 44.99 - not the 21.99 amount I signed for. I will not be using this grooming service in the future. read more

I took my dog here for doggie day camp. The staff was amazing as it was a last minute emergency for him to spend the day there, fitting him in 1 days notice. They do kennel the dogs till 9 and when I picked him up at 5 he was also kenneled, but I could tell he had played his heart out all day because he was so tired when he got home. Which I'm fine with because he could still be so tired, but if there's another dog he will play with them, so I'm glad he got some resting time too. The report cards are my favorite part because I worry about how he's doing and if he's okay just as a dog mom in general. It really does comfort me too knowing Banfield hospital is there as well (as there is a vet on site). Nothing has ever happened but sometimes accidents do happen. read more

A couple of months back I was blessed with the opportunity to rescue a lil'furbaby from a McDonald's parking lot. I went straight to PetSmart to grab a few things because I knew I would be able to take her in with me as opposed to leaving her in the truck at Wal-Mart. While I was there I purchased a harness (at the urging of the young lady that was assisting me) among other things like food, treats, shampoos, etc. The young lady helped me to get the harness fitted and secured on my new found furry friend before I left the store. I found this experience to be tremendously helpful because I had no idea how to put a harness on a dog. I had only ever used a traditional collar & leash. I have since revisited this store and been treated very well by a courteous and attentive sales team. PetSmart has my business and I will continue to recommend this store to my family, friends and neighbors. I am very disappointed with this PetsHotel! My dog is a regular at the doggy day camp in PV but I decided to give this one a try this past week e as it is closer to where I work. The first day I arrived, it took 10 minutes and several rings of the service bell to get a staff member up front to check my dog in. After checking her in I asked for reservations to be made for the following 2 days. When I picked her up at the end of the day, I turned away from her when she jumped and ignored her as we have learned to do from the petsmart trainers. The employee proceeded to yell "stay down" at my dog which was very disconcerting and made me concerned that they would yell at her when I wasn't around as well. Anyways I know people have bad days so I decided to give them another chance. When I came the next day to check in they told me I did not have a reservation and that day camp was full but I could just board her for the day instead. I explained that I had made a reservation the day before and they just said okay and then took her back so I was unsure if she was even going to day camp. When picking her up the supervisor told me "she was very nervous and vomited today so you should keep an eye on her" with no further explanation and then handed me my dog with no day camp pawgress report or anything. Even though I brought food both days I was never told if she was fed/ate her food, she was apparently nervous even though she always loves going to day camp, and I just felt like they were withholding information about my dog from me. I will not be bringing her back to this location as they do not provide the same love, care, and thoroughness that the Paradise Valley location does. read more

If I could give zero stars I would, This review is based on THIS location only . I booked my dogs grooming through the Petsmart App for 1pm on Monday I get a call at 10am letting me know they switched to a new system and the app messed up their scheduling, they asked if I could come in at 12. I said that's too early. The soonest I can do is 1pm. That is why I scheduled it that way. She said I should just reschedule. I asked why was I barely notified until 10 am when I made the appt over 2 days ago? I asked to speak to a manager and he she handed the phone over to Shawn and Jody the groomer rudely said "Here she wants to you, shes being rude". As soon as the manager got on the phone I let him know it was unprofessional for their staff to speak that way especially when the mishap was their fault. What kind of customer service is that. Jody was unprofessional and rude herself. Although, mgmt offered a free groom, I let them know I will not be bringing my baby in around that groomer. Three stars only because it is a hit and miss with the employees. There are sometimes that I walk in and cringe at the person at the register, and other times they are very friendly. This store is the closest to us, so it is the one we go to for our pets' needs. We have dogs, cats, birds, chickens, a tortoise, and a lizard, so we have to get quite a bit of stuff quite often. What prompted me to write this review, even though we have been going to this store ever since we moved to the are back in 2005, is that we heard an employee talking to another, in front of us, about another customer and the conversation was not nice. This particular employee always treats customers rudely and is very short. I've seen the employee for a few years now and was hoping that she would change, but she's just rude. I do like that the store is clean and most of the employees are nice, but really, really do not like this particular employee, which makes our experience much dissatisfying whenever we have to deal with her. read more

Let's talk dogs. Okay, I have a little 4-pound Maltese who is just the sweetest little pup I have ever had! Since his size is so convenient, he usually goes shopping with me and rides in my purse. Well this weekend we went to his favorite store to pick up some dog food. I have been to many PetSmarts around the valley, but I don't remember any of them being as cramped as this store is. I could hardly steer my cart around the huge displays in the middle of the aisles and since the store was a little busy, trying to get around the store was quite impossible. After I located the dog food, we spent some time looking between brands of food...I mean I like variety, so why should he be stuck with the same food day in and day out? But I couldn't find any one to talk to to answer my questions about the two choices I had: his old food, Iams for small breeds or this new one Eukanuba for Yorkies. Yes, I know my dog is not a Yorkie (as I mentioned above), but Maltese and Yorkies are pretty close with their: long hair, cute little faces, and a personalities bigger than their small size. I just wasn't sure of the benefits of one over the other and Eukanuba is significantly more expensive, which I don't mind, but I want to make sure the benefits are worth the cost. Any ways, there was no one around to ask, which was disappointing - because I'm not the best at making these kinds of decisions on my own. So I stuck with the old, but good ol' Iams brand. We went to check out and the reason this place received 3 stars instead of just 2 is because the lady who checked us out was really nice and showered my sweet little puppy with loves and treats and I know she made his day! read more
