We drove 25 minutes one way to this place because it was recommended by a family member. There was one man working he did not greet us came straight up to the dog said she's never been groomed which was untrue asked what kind of cut we would want. We basically said short on the body leave the legs long he said that was too difficult and refused to follow through with our appointment and so we left because we definitely don't want someone to cut our dogs hair that seemed uncomfortable to do so. BEWARE My I took my two dogs to Jodie at Aunt Donnas for years and she was an amazing groomer & always did a great job. I moved an hour away but I drove the hour because they have all my dogs records. I asked the "groomer" SEAN to do a teddy bear cut he said he didn't HAVE TIME to do anything but shave them down because HE WAS OVERBOOKED for that day. I said they ARE NOT MATTED and there was NO REASON to shave them down. He stated HE JUST DID NOT HAVE THE TIME. I told him my husband had just driven an hour to bring them in so I guess we didn't have a choice & he could do what ever he had to do. I just asked him to just keep them as long as possible. I let him know that I do not think that his inability to schedule enough time should mean that my pets have to get a army haircut. This obviously made him angry & he then just REFUSED to do either dogs because he said we had spent to much time discussing it. My phone shows we were on the phone 3 minutes 42 seconds. Even though I'm giving 1 star for Sean's EXTREMELY RUDE unprofessional behavior. I must mention that JOHN used to do my cat before she died and he always did an amazing job. We brought our Shih Tzu Herb and our long haired cat Abby yesterday and I couldn't be more thrilled with the haircuts they got! Scott was our groomer for both animals and my husband said at drop off he was very detailed on how we wanted them cut and very nice. We picked them up and it's by far the best haircuts they've both received ever. I have taken them to lots of groomers and their haircuts never come to close to what I've asked to have done. I m glad finally to find a grooming place for cats . John is a beautiful man, I have never thought my cat would let anyone give her a bath and clip her nails. When I personally tried to bathe her, it was a major failure. But John did it , clipping the nails was done within a minute, I could see my cat totally felt secured with him. made an appointment for my dog for the first time, walked inside and the receptionist lady had a negative attitude from the start. my dog is a registered emotional support animal who suffers from social anxiety, he was afraid and shivering when she came to him, she didn't make an effort to build a connection to gain his trust she kept complaining saying "she didn't know if he would even let her cut his hair". she just kept complaining.... she also tugged on my dogs leash aggressively to bring him closer to her & at that point it made me walk out. I wouldn't leave my pup with someone who handles my pup aggressively in front of me none the less doesn't even try to build a connection. NEVER AGAIN! read more

What a great experience! Before I brought my Siberian Husky there I stopped in, since it's right by my house and inquired about pricing, details, etc. They are very reasonably priced and all three staff members were extremely helpful. I scheduled an appointment for a few days later and dropped off my very dirty, shedding, and frankly mangy Husky. A few hours later I picked up a brand new dog. I have had previous groomers quit mid-groom and call me to pick him up. I have had others finish washing him and call me to pick him up wet. Not at Aunt Donna's. I know he's a pain in the butt at groomers and they didn't complain at all. They were happy to have him. They had a great attitude and most importantly he looked great. Highly recommended read more

Beware of Up charges!!! Unfortunately we had a terrible experience. They called me 10-15mins after I dropped my husky off asked if she had been sprayed by a skunk I said absolutely no way! We live in a 1 bedroom apartment with no yard there is no way for that to Happen. I believe they were just trying to over charge me because of her hair. If that was the case be up front with the price. After talking to the female receptionist who claimed the whole store smelt like a skunk and it was terrible who works on sundays she hangs up on me in a hostile fashion which caused concern because she has my baby in her possession. I ended up driving right when I got there it DID NOT smell like Skunk in the store at ALL and picked up a pretty wet 60lb husky and took her to Paw Commons who did an exceptional job and said My Husky DID NOT smell like a skunk what so ever. I personally feel they tried to take advantage of a loving and caring pet owner and wanted to UPCHARGE me . I would not recommend to come here and too spend the extra 5-10$ and go to PAW commons! It was a real bummer especially seeing the good reviews this place had. Oh well live and learn. I also waited to write this review to see what paw commons groomer said about the smell. read more

it is difficult to find a good, reliable cat groomer near me in Tempe. when I found John at Aunt Donna's Grooming I was cautiously optimistic, and now I'm a happy regular. My sweet kitty, Crash, is a beautiful, longhair rescue who sheds like any longhair. He also mats, especially if we wait too long between appointments. John is so wonderfully gentle with my baby, and Crash comes home looking and feeling great. He is not traumatized nor angry when I pick him up. that means a lot to both of us! I made an appointment at 10:30am (the person on the phone was impatient and hung up without saying a simple goodby which should have been my first red flag) and they told me they would call me when they were done when I asked them how long it would take. 1pm had rolled by so I decided to give them a call in which they placed me on a long hold then proceeded to answer with "We need 25 more minutes to stop the bleeding". WHAT. THE. ACTUAL. FUCK. They told me they don't know what had happened but my dog's tongue was BLEEDING. They then blamed my dog and took no accountability for what had happened. They said this was normal and happens quite often. HOW THE HELL DOES THIS HAPPEN OFTEN IF YOURE A PROFESSIONAL. I would not recommended this place to anybody. A pet is a child to you and if this is how they're being treated, I would suggest you go somewhere else. They were careless, rude, and unprofessional. read more

I go back to this place a second time. When I get there, he informs me that now my cost is 34 bucks. My dog is an 8lbs smooth Jack Chi. A bath and nail clipping. That is way too much for a 10 minute job. When I told him, yesterday, January 17, 2021, that I should have been informed of the price increase. His response was, "We can charge whatever we want". Now that wasn't a good customer relations answer. I said, fine, I am not staying. His response was, "LEAVE, WE DONT NEED YOUR BUSINESS". So I asked what his name was and he said he wasn't going to tell me. Then I asked for the owners name and again he said he won't tell me. I told everyone at my winter resort at the dog park and they were shocked. I got referred to a place that charge at 15 for a bath and 5 for a nail trim, since my little guy is a quick wash. My little guy doesn't like loud noises, so he doesn't even get blow dried. read more

I decided then, that it would be 5he last time I would take her there. she is a friendly dog and likes people, so this was out of character for her. I have a beautiful king charles cavalier and she chopped everything...the underside of her ears, the whiskers off her face and eyebrows!! Who does that??? My first visit to Aunt Donna's was absolutely tremendous. The staff were courteous, kind, professional, respectful, and showed my Newf wonderful attention. This was the first place that was able to groom my dog and do everything intended in the allotted time without complaint. My second visit was anything but pleasant. As I approached the door, an older woman walked out with her dog visibly upset. She mentioned to me I should not take my dog inside as the gentleman working refused to groomer her dog due to the dogs age though the dog was smaller and very well mannered at the age of 10. As we were speaking, a gentleman came outside and told me to stop talking to this woman and come inside. I told him I would be inside momentarily as I still had 10 minutes until my scheduled appointment. I finished my conversation and went inside. The gentleman then asked me how old my dog was, so I mentioned 3. He laughed at me and said my dog was not able to be groomed there after a swift pet of his hind quarters. I inquired as to why and he said my dog was so disgusting that he would have to be shaved from head to toe which I was absolutely against. I mentioned the dog had just been there and was wonderfully groomed by another woman. This gentleman then asked his associate to come over and give her opinion. The look on her face said it all. He said to his associate, tell her he is not able to be groomed unless we shave him. She touched his hind quarters and she did not speak other than to say there was one matted spot but it wasn't bad. The gentleman disagreed many times and proceeded to continued to tell me the dog was an absolute mess and he refused to groom him. So I respectfully took my dog and left with no intent to go back which is unfortunate. My previous experience was wonderful but this one gentleman ruined it for me and another customer. read more

I arrived exactly 12 minutes late. Life happens. 2 gentlemen were sitting down; the place was completely empty and no pets were around. One got up and looked at me and said I was 20 minutes late and just stared at me for a while. Their wall clock was 8 minutes fast. I was dumbfounded at first, given they had nothing going on at the moment, but I said I can leave if they want me to, and he said "Yes, you'll have to reschedule". So I walked out, wondering why in the middle of a pandemic, with 2 guys sitting with nothing at all to do but chat, they would turn me away. I guess they don't need the business? Took Buddy for an 11 o'clock appointment, he's been going to Aunt Donna's for sometime. There is a note in his file that he has Addison's and gets stressed easily, so it's important for him to be in and out as quickly as possible. Buddy's appointment was with John but for some reason , John did not take care Buddy and there was a new person who greeted and ultimately did his grooming. I called at 1:30 to find out how much longer it would be and I was told 15 minutes, I think that's how much time the person spend on him he looked clean but ragged. I asked if they were short handed or overbooked that his appointment took so long and was greeted with a blank stare and no form of apology. The service I have received at Aunt Donna's has always been mediocre but I went there for a while because my dogs needed minimal grooming (wash and shave) and the location was about a mile from my house. Today's experience has led me to find someone else. I had an 8am appointment but forgot the time, so before 8 am I called them several times to confirm my appointment time and got the same pre -recorded phone message-"this number is no longer in service. Please check the number and dial again". I checked the number and dialed numerous times, but same message. Since I live n the neighborhood less than a mile away, I drove over to see if they were even open, which they were. I went in and explained the situation, but I felt the groomers there didn't believe my story, so I had to go back to my car, get my cell and dial the number for them, and sure enough, same recording. All of this was no big deal, but they didn't seem the least bit apologetic and said that the groomer took another dog in my dogs place and that I would have to reschedule for another day. By this time it was 8:20 am or so. As I said earlier, since the service was always mediocre before, this incident convinced me to go elsewhere. Other dog owners I know in the neighborhood have had similar experiences. read more

We have been going to Aunt Donna's for the past decade and just found out through one of the employees today that Donna will be moving and they had no idea what was going to happen to the business. I understand that life happens however I am extremely disappointed that Donna didn't think it important to call her loyal customers to let them know her plans and that we needed to start to look for other options for our pets. I am extremely disappointed in how this was handled by her and I feel badly for the employees who have to explain all to upset customers. We just had our 2 dogs done groomed today and extremely disappointed. There is no accountability here and no one in charge so I do not recommend booking here at all! I was looking for a place that could groom my cat and could take care of her because she is a true "scaredy cat", this was the perfect place. I heard of them Aunt Donna's through a recommendation on my neighborhood app and I couldn't have been more pleased. I talked and scheduled my appointment through John who is their Cat groomer. He was able to come in at 6 am and meet me there before the shop even opened! ( talk about great dedication and customer service!!)John did an amazing job on my girl who was pretty badly matted up.
