Steak & lobster with a view
Nicole S.

Been to Peohe's a handful of times over the years. The location is hard to beat, absolutely gorgeous views of the downtown San Diego skyline, especially when it's lit up at night. Super romantic and easily one of the best views in Coronado. I've always enjoyed the steak, seafood, lobster and drinks, but unfortunately the last two times I've been really disappointed in the food quality. For the price, some of it honestly tasted like frozen, microwavable food. The interior also feels pretty outdated and could definitely use a refresh. The hostesses and waitstaff have always been nice, but there can be a slightly uppity/snobby vibe. Peohe's is still a Coronado staple with top-tier views, but it's pricey, and I really hope they bring the food quality back to what it used to be.

Visited Peohe's in Coronado for their happy hour which starts from 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm. The listed price is around half the normal price you would pay outside these hours and is also limited in certain areas of the restaurant. We came in at 3:00 pm with a reservation to take advantage of the discounted price. The staff was friendly. The weather was perfect and the scenery was breathtaking with the view of the ocean and the downtown San Diego skyline. We ordered the Kalua Pork Sliders, Kim Chee Calamari, Fried Artichokes, Maui-Style Onion Rings, Coconut Crunchy Shrimp, Spicy Tuna Poke Stack and a sip of mojito. I personally enjoyed the pork sliders and the tuna poke, especially the flavored rice pilaf. Everything we ordered was good, but the venue and ambiance are what put this place at the top. We also enjoyed the live music from the back patio as well.

I loved the patio with the downtown skyline views. There was a rocking concert that we could hear from across the water as well which was cool. Service was fine. However, the 2 stars is because of the inconsistent quality of the food. The sashimi ... some were fresh and some tasted off. Same with the other apps. My ahi tuna entree was ok but most of the others in the party did not like theirs.

Came here for lunch while visiting Coronado. We wanted to go to cocina but it was too crowded but this place was like empty lol. The restaurant is huge and the waterfront views are definitely the highlight. If you can get a table by the water it's a really nice spot to relax. The only downside was the service was surprisingly slow. We waited about 10 minutes before getting seated even though most of the indoor dining room was empty. The outdoor patio is large too and it didn't seem very crowded either. After we sat down everything took a long time from getting our drinks to placing our food order and even getting the complimentary bread. The warm bread with butter was honestly one of my favorite parts of the meal. We ordered the tuna poke and it was just alright. The portion was smaller than I expected and nothing really stood out about it. I also got the rib eye dip sandwich and enjoyed it more. The bread was much softer than I expected but it worked really well still.

Last year when my wife and I were visiting Coronado, we went to Peohe's for a birthday dinner for me and had a five-star experience. We enjoyed it so much that we made a reservation even before we arrived to Coronado for a dinner at Peohe's on our last night in Coronado. While the food was delicious, we experienced a number of challenges before and after being seated. We created our reservation more than a week earlier through Open Table, and there were plenty of open tables for a weekday evening. We arrived two minutes early for our reservation and was told it would only be another two minutes before we would be seated. A large family arrived after us, and they were seated rather quickly. After ten minutes, I went back to the host stand where I inquired about our reservation. I really only wanted to know if we could be seated soon and confirm we weren't forgotten about. Rather, the host told us that there was a "miscommunication" and we should be seated shortly. We were finally seated a minute or so later. Upon being seated, we were told our server should be with us shortly. It took 8-10 minutes for a server to show up, greet us, and serve us water. It was not busy at that time, and more tables were empty than filled. During that time, we noticed that both of our bread plates were dirty. Once our server arrived, she was very kind and helpful answering many questions. While she did check on us throughout the meal, it wasn't until after our entrees that we finally were offered more water. The dishes we ordered did arrive in a reasonable amount of time. Otherwise, our server was very pleasant though it seemed that she may have been a bit overwhelmed. She did offer good recommendations and strived to make our experience positive. We were initially brought some warm dinner roles and butter for the two of us to share. As we knew our dishes would be filling and would come with sides, we decided that the bread was enough until our entrees arrived. My wife ordered the Aloha Catch Salmon, prepared sautéed and paired with chefs farm fresh harvest and topped with Leon shallot butter. The sides include coconut ginger rice and a vegetable medley. I ordered the Sous Vide Roasted Chicken, which was a half-chicken with garlic based potatoes and asparagus. Both dishes were delicious and filling. I thought the chicken was moist and very tasty. We then opted not to order a dessert but were brought a small red velvet cake with a chocolate Happy Birthday on it. It was small but perfect to wrap up the meal. Peohe's considers itself to be fine dining and is nestled on the water's edge in the Coronado Ferry Landing offering amazing views of the downtown skyline and San Diego Bay. They have a very similar restaurant to Chart House, of which they are considered part of the Chart House and Landry family of restaurants. They specialize in fresh tropical seafood dishes, is known for their sushi bar, and has an elegant seating area indoors as well as patio seating. You can access Peohe's by land or water. You can learn more about Peohe's at https://www.peohes.com. If you plan on going to Peohe's, you should join the Landry's Select Club by signing up at the restaurant or on the website and paying $25. In return, you'll receive $25 in credit to use at a Landry's restaurant (including Peohe's or Chart House) and then receive an additional $25 for your birthday every year. They also have promotions and giveaways, and you can earn points (and bitcoin) that you can redeem for additional $25 increments. While the service was certainly a significant drop from our past visit, the food was delicious and the views are great. We will certainly stop by again to see if the service has been improved. I also realized I hadn't posted pictures previously, so I will post a combination of photos from last year's and this year's visits.

The restaurant was so good! The soft shell crab cake was the Most Memorable! The service was Great! Beautiful deck and views were beautiful.

We went here to celebrate our daughter's college graduation. We had a reservation but the graduation ended earlier than what we expected. The manager was very accommodating to let us dine before our reservation. We were seated inside with a beautiful view of the bay. We got appetizers and ordered from their lunch menu. All the food was delicious. This is one of our favorite restaurants to go to for birthday and anniversary celebrations. The staff and their service are incredible. Plus nothing can bet the view of the bay especially at night.

Peohe's in Coronado is the most reviewed restaurant so I had to see. The restaurant appears a bit dated but was clean and presented nicely. There's interior and exterior seating, but with sunny San Diego weather, seating outside umbrella shades and waterfront views is preferred. The staff were very accommodating, helpful and nice, special thanks to our server Elle who had a positive attitude. The food selections were excellent. We ordered the seafood pasta, sesame crusted salmon for entrees and both were delicious. The Peohe salad and the red velvet cake were also yummy. This restaurant is part of the Chart House collection of restaurants throughout the nation, so most of the menu selections will be similar. Despite the common thread, the service, food and ambience were all fantastic. Recommend

We recently hosted a work celebration lunch here for a party of 19 after an amazing month as a team. We made the reservation about two weeks in advance and I even stopped by a couple days beforehand to confirm everything was set. When we arrived, the staff and manager were very accommodating and moved us outside so we could enjoy the beautiful views of the San Diego Bay. The setting truly was amazing and several people in our group commented on how beautiful the restaurant was. Unfortunately, the service timing really impacted the experience. We had an 11:45 reservation, but our orders were not taken until around 12:30 despite appetizers and drinks beginning to arrive. Drinks alone took close to 40 minutes. We had also ordered oysters, and only after we followed up were we informed they had just arrived and had not yet been shucked. It left us wondering if we would have received the notice at all had we not asked. The servers themselves were kind and polite throughout, but service was very infrequent and the pacing of the meal became difficult for a large group with work schedules to maintain. Entrées did not begin arriving until around 1:00 PM, and they came out so spread apart that some team members had finished eating before others had even received their food. Eventually our leader had to ask about the remaining meals because many of us had meetings to return to. The manager did offer complimentary dessert, which was appreciated, but by that point we had already been there over two and a half hours and unfortunately needed to leave. Overall, the location and atmosphere were wonderful, and the staff was friendly, but the experience itself was disappointing given that this was meant to be a celebration lunch for our team.

Amazing views, but the food and presentation wasn't anything to rave about. I usually don't like dining out on holiday occasions, but we went for Mother's Day dinner. The menu was a 3 course prefix. I opted for the wedge salad, prime rib, and the chocolate mousse cake. The wedge salad was nothing like a traditional wedge salad from most restaurants. The plating was sloppy and the blue cheese dressing didn't taste like blue cheese. The prime rib was prepared well. The mashed potatoes came out hard, like they've been sitting for awhile. The au jus sauce was too salty. My bf opted for the lobster bisque, swordfish, and white chocolate cheesecake. The cup of bisque was watery and had no texture or substance. The swordfish was dry. It looked dry on arrival. My daughter got the kids cheese burger (came out full size) so not bad for $15. The dessert was probably the best part, but I don't even think it's made in house. Our white chocolate raspberry cheese cake had a piece of wax paper stuck to the plate decoration. Service was good, but the restaurant overall didn't meet my expectations. I probably wouldn't consider returning.

Hubby wanted lobster but ended up ordering a prime rib end cut that came with garlic mashed potatoes. His drink ordered was a chocolate and bourbon drink that had a nice huge ice cube along with a skewered cherry and a solid chocolate ball. My mother in law had a blood orange and sage nonalcoholic beverage and she really enjoyed it. For dinner she had a wedge salad and lobster bisque soup. I ordered the lobster Mac and cheese and it was quite a generous portion with plenty of lobster chunks. I ordered the berry fauxhito which was quite refreshing. Sorry, we did share the pupu platter which had ahi poke, lobster sushi rolls, egg rolls, shrimp cocktail, and fried shrimp. We really enjoyed all of the elements on the platter. My favorites were the two different shrimp offerings. The restaurant had both indoor and outdoor dining options, a sushi bar, as well as a regular bar. The atmosphere could be considered romantic in their large curved booths or business casual and also family friendly. There is something for everyone here. Also, shoutout to Devin as they were a magnificent server and met all our questions and needs. We will definitely be back.

That's before and after cake.

I am very disappointed by the way Alyssa, the event coordinator at Peohe's, responded when I brought up the parking complaints from our guests and friends during a 75th birthday celebration on September 26. When I explained that numerous guests were unable to use the parking code provided to us, Alyssa suggested that perhaps people simply did not know how to use the code or were unable to follow instructions. I found that response extremely dismissive and insulting. When the same problem is being reported by a large number of guests--potentially close to 100--it is unreasonable to blame the guests rather than take the complaint seriously and investigate whether there was a problem with the parking arrangement or the code. To make matters worse, I was told that some of our guests ended up paying approximately $30 just to park. These were our invited guests attending a special 75th birthday celebration, and they should not have been made to feel that they were at fault for a parking arrangement that was supposed to have been provided by the venue. There were also other issues surrounding the event, including the mishandling of the birthday cake that was delivered early by the donor only to be told the cake was not received. After several follow-ups we were told that the cake was indeed delivered and was in their refrigerator. This caused the celebrant unnecessary stress and anxiety. What bothered me most, however, was Alyssa's attitude toward a legitimate complaint. A professional event coordinator should listen respectfully, take responsibility for investigating problems, and work toward a solution--not make dismissive comments suggesting that a large number of guests simply cannot follow instructions. Her comment left me feeling disrespected and uncomfortable, and it raised serious concerns for me about whether our guests were being treated fairly and respectfully. I believe Peohe's management should review what happened, including the parking arrangements and the way this complaint was handled, and provide an appropriate explanation to the host and guests who were affected. Also we forgot the birthday cake that we left untouched and nicely formed because we didn't get to blow it because they couldn't provide a complementary bday candle. We were gonna continue the celebration at home but when we remembered we left it at the venue so we went to pick it up, we discovered it was tampered with and totally dismantled and some missing pieces. Who would like to celebrate with a tampered cake?

Poke bowl and Maui onion rings.

I absolutely love Peohe's. The waterfront view is stunning. The poke is my fave...super fresh, flavorful, and beautifully done. Happy Hour is also a great deal, with food specials around $6-$12 and solid drink prices...$5.50 beers, $6 well drinks, and $9-$10 signature cocktails. Amazing views, great poke, and one of my favorite Happy Hours in Coronado!

Reviews are mixed. Many highlight the waterfront views and inviting atmosphere. People also enjoy the specialty cocktails. Most praise the service, though others report mixed service and mixed food quality.

Peohe's Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Peohe's

Has the in-house catering menu (not wedding related) been removed from the website? It was available 2 weeks ago.

Hello! We recommend contacting the restaurant for further assistance, they will be able to provide you with the current catering menu. The phone number is listed below, thank you!…

Does Peohe's honor military discount? If so, what is the percentage?

Unfortunately, they do not offer a Military discount. They do have various discount programs such as their Landry's Membership program, AARP, and AAA. I wished they offered a Military Discount because they definitely deserve it!

Can I stop at the bar and have a drink w/o eating there?

Hi Ruth. Absolutely! You can always visit our Bar for just drinks if you wish. We always have appetizers available to order as well, and if you decide to have dinner there after all, then you are welcome to order that as well. We have Happy Hour…

Is there free parking?

Yes, you are able to park in the large Coronado Ferry Landing parking lot with the first 2 hours being free of charge. After that there is a charge for parking.

Is there a children's menu?

Yes, but be aware the portions were massive! I believe my friends kids had chicken fingers and fries!

Is this place kid friendly?

Absolutely! Kids love us!

Are dogs allowed on the patio?

Interestingly two years ago they told us service dogs only but a couple of weeks ago we saw a dog on the patio and the owners of the dog said apparently now dogs are allowed patio only

Vegan options for food and drink? Thanks

The full menu is available online.

Do they no longer give or free bread?

Bread is served at dinner, and is served "on request" at lunch.

On a lark, I ordered half a dozen raw oysters from the happy hour menu. The taste was good. Texture was good. The shells were very gritty. My wife had two and I ate four. All the dim sum looked like it was sitting in the steamers for a while, crab legs were overcooked so it came apart mushy instead of flaky. What happened? I'm guessing that they made all the food early in preparation for opening, but all of food tasted like it sat out for hours. The things that turned out fine, were the oysters, sushi and sashimi, and the prime rib that turned out to be rare.

This was a great find. We found ourselves at the San Diego Zoo at closing time and were determined…read moreto not pay those ridiculously high prices for substandard food just for the convenience of being caught at the Zoo at closing time. I jumped on Yelp and found Pete's Seafood and Sandwich close by, so we made a beeline to get there. We had dinner sitting at the bar and had a great experience. There is plenty of inside and outside seating, but we really enjoyed sitting at the bar. The food was prepared fresh, the service was good and the pricing was reasonable. Parking is a bit tough to deal with although they do have a small lot you can walk around to in the back. If we're ever in the area again we'd stop back in to try other menu items.

I started with the clam chowder, which had generous chunks of clam and a really nice seafood flavor. I hate when clam chowder tastes more like potato chowder with a few pieces of clam thrown in, but you could actually taste the clams here! We also got the wings, which, in hindsight, was on us for ordering wings at a seafood spot. They were fine, but nothing particularly memorable. The lobster roll, however, was what we came for, and it did not disappoint! It was PACKED with meaty lobster and quality butter, making it well worth the visit. The fries were also fresh and made in-house, and they were perfect dipped in malt vinegar. Pete's is my go-to when I'm craving fresh seafood without breaking the bank. Great portions, reasonable prices, and a satisfying lobster roll make this spot worth coming back to!

So good, we ate here twice! If you're looking for fresh…read moreseafood, fun tacos, good drinks, and/or a good atmosphere, this is your place. We came here on a Thursday night and it was quite crowded (the $1.25 oysters probably contributed to that). We came back on a Saturday night and it was less busy. Staff and Service: - Order at the counter and they'll give you a number to put on a dock at your table. Servers bring food out to you Food and Drinks: - Baka taco: this is the monthly special for October, and it's delicious. Flavorful and it's a big taco! - Oysters: tasty. Always fun to choose which kind you want. And $1.25 on Thursdays is such a good deal. - Mac salad: fun little side - Ahi Poke: comes with wonton chips. Good flavor and sits on a bed of seaweed salad - Spicy Dorado Taco: I had higher hopes for this. The fish was dry and my taco had a bed of cilantro (with full stems) on top. - Swordfish plate: delicious and filling (would get again) - Sea Bass plate: tasty, but not as good as the swordfish - Aperol Spritz: delicious and good size Miscellaneous: - Parking available via street parking - Indoor and outdoor seating available - Good for big and small groups - Good for families - Very casual (not meant for a romantic and intimate date)
