This place serves the best coffee in North County. I know!... a bold statement so listen and learn... then take the same taste test I did and decide for yourself. I've been a long time fan of Peet's since back when I lived in Berkeley; back when before Starbucks was even a name. For those who don't know the guys who started Starbucks learned much of their coffee wisdom at the knee of Alfred Peet. They, of course, went mass appeal and the quality suffered along the way. But the real gem here is not just Peet's, but the crew at Peet's Encinitas. Every year Peet's hold a barista competition. Last year 4,000 baristas competed. The top 4 go to corporate for the finals. ... wait for it... Yes, one of the Peet's Top Four works in Encinitas... and he trains the other baristas. His name is Cameron. After tasting a "Camucino", I have ordered many more from the other baristas and they do a fantastic job. If you truly love coffee order a "Trad Cap" (Traditional Cappuccino) here. Don't get it to go. Order it to drink in the store, sit down and enjoy. I have since ordered a Trad Cap from numerous other coffee houses in NoCounty and they failed to live up to the mark. A Trad Cap at its BEST should be equal parts coffee, milk and foam... and taste like a creamy "coffee cloud" as the three ingredients blend seamlessly. Give your mouth a treat! If you love a good latte, beware!!! A well made Trad Cap may ROCK your coffee world as it did mine. Good coffee, nice baristas, and free wi-fi. I've been able to make some work calls inside and no one seems to notice. I prefer it to Starbucks down the street as it's a little bigger and empties out towards the afternoon, though consistently busy with folks after their mid-afternoon caffeine boost. Parking can be a pain, but that's what you get with Trader Joe's being so close. There's a bike rack nearby too, if that's how you get around. read more

This location had better customer service before their move to the new location. There is a young lady that wears glasses. She is not concerned with customer service. She talks a lot, gave me a pound of coffee in a bag the was ripped down the side (4-5 inches), served a cappuccino instead of a latte. Disappointed and slowed down today. read more

Peet's is by far the best coffee chain in my opinion. The coffee has a lot of flavor and is utterly delicious. We have a few in Orange County but every time I come home this is my staple go to. The new coconut infused iced coffee is to die for. read more

Peet's, have I told you lately how much I love your cappuccino?

I've been coming to Peets for years, and it is my go to place for coffee in the area, and I think I've been to 90% of coffee shops in the area. Not only can they nail a good espresso drink day in, day out, but the drip coffee is quality in my opinion. I also appreciate they sometimes host a night crowd, or small group that seems to be jamming out on the rare night I'm in area. My only star can come off as at the peak times it takes them a while to help clean up, and I think they often serve the drip coffee without giving it enough time to settle. The first cup of the brew is not the same as the last. Regardless, what more can I expect? read more

I am a VERY loyal Peet's customer ... EXCEPT for THIS (Encinitas) location. Every time I go there I pay more than the other Peet's locations. 5-20¢ depending upon the drink. I finally decided to ask since they are corporate stores. I was told the price was correct. After MUCH searching and asking, I come to find out that the Encinitas location charges more. They should educate their employees to give a correct answer so the loyal Peet's customer does not feel stupid or like a fool. read more

We buy our beans here on a weekly basis- I love coming to Pete's and currently am loving the new Coconut Iced Latte they have for summer- it's the best coffee drink I've had maybe in forever? I wish it were not a seasonal drink! But if you haven't tried it and like fairly sweet but not too sweet of drinks I highly recommend it. They also have the Coconut White Chocolate Mocha one that was also recommended but the Barista said this one is a lot sweeter. Other than that love this location, the seating is good, they have quite a few outlets for laptops and the whole crew is really friendly, always in a good mood to make one smile:) read more

They have the nicest staff ever. Went in 1 min after closing and didn't realize it. They did everything they could to offer us something to take out. They sure didn't turn us away and deny our welcome. This happened a couple months ago but didn't get around to commenting on it until now. This coffee shop works very hard to stimulate the "grab & go" crowd and discourage the "stay & enjoy" crowd. They do this through deliberately turning off the Internet hot spot and by cranking up the a/c. I could understand if they were losing customers because of overcrowding but I don't think that's the case. read more

I had never been in a Peet's coffee so when I saw this place going up (I pass by it on my way back from Dr. office) I couldn't wait to try. Well.... I stopped in and ordered a Green Tea Latte, lightly sweetened/foam. First of all my mistake was thinking it was hot! lol... so I got going down the road and hopped on the freeway. A few minutes into my drive I tried a sip. WHAT is this?! All I tasted was foam, foam and more foam! And it was cool. When I finally was able to actually taste it I was just more disappointed. It tasted like cool milk and water. When I was off the freeway I phoned to inquire as to if this is how it is suppose to taste. The male staff member that answered said "oh, yeah it is if you order it with the low fat milk." I stated that I always order green tea latte's (from other places) and that I have never had that experience. He stated that it is because they use smooth powder. I stated to him that I use ceremonial matcha green tea powder at home in many drinks, it is smooth and I can always taste the green tea. I was quite surprised at what he said next. "Our suggestion is to order with extra powder and regular milk or almond or soy milk next time." Perhaps you could have mentioned that when I ordered....btw, he said he remembered me which did not help as when I placed my order with him I told him that it was my first time in a Peet's. A lil fyi for good customer service for customers who have never been in a Peet's: Offer suggestions, ask what the customer likes i.e. slightly sweetened, sweet, strong i.e. more of a green tea taste. 9/10x I'm always asked at other Coffee & Tea houses. Even when they know its me and I order the same thing over and over! And offer to remake the beverage if the customer is not satisfied. At least then you know they will come back one more time where at that point your service can turn that visit into many more. read more

I love the flavor of Peet's coffee and have a coffee Javiva almost every afternoon. Two weeks ago I went in for my daily refreshment and found out that a Javiva went up in price from $4.60 to $5.10 -- an outrageous increase, obviously adjusted to coincide with the warmer weather. The bad news is that when the summer is over, you can be sure that the price will not decrease to its previous level. With this increase, I will no longer be a Peet's customer and will shift my afternoon visit to Starbucks. read more

This peet's coffee is quite nice in comparison to the majority of 'quick' stop coffee shops in the area. I think that it is great they have ample indoor and out door seating unlike the starbuck's and coffee bean that are in the area. However it feels like how they make a drink varies person to person, and that sometimes it can be quite disappointing. Peet's has by far the best coffee. This location also has very spacious indoor and outdoor areas to sit. Top notch pastries as well, especially their cherry filled one. The staff is friendly and aims to please. If I ever have to wait (and it's never that long) they will give me a card for one free beverage! It's true the parking can be crazy, but I think it's definitely worth the couple of extra minutes. read more

I've been here before, usually good to great feeling from staff-since that's why we tip them more than any other fast food place, for making coffee. First the good: nice clean, new, comfortable location, good coffee drinks, generally friendly staff. The not-so good: it started as my fault, I forgot to say mocha, got my hot drink, and noticed it, went back, and she offered to put one or two pumps in, and did-but the drink still tasted terrible, it couldn't be mixed, or even stirred with the whipped cream, but I drank it anyway-I guess I should have asked for another remade, but thought, since it was my fault? Then, the not so good: I ordered one of the few cakes or deserts still out on Sunday evening, and got a peanut butter cookie, it was not good, and for $2.50 it should be at least a little good. So, I ate part of it, and said, I'll at least tell the staff member, and when she came around, I told her itv was the worst cookie I'd had there. She said, sorry, took my cookie, ad dumped it in the garbage-never any refund, or replacement. So, I guess either I'm not a frequent enough customer, I expected too much, or should have withheld my tip until exiting, but its hard to have good feeling about underwhelming staff-this night. On the other hand I had a great conversation with other patrons, so I guess I should do what I saw someone else do: break down the stars: service 1.5, ambience 5, product 2.5, cleanliness 5: reading materials: 4 Average 3.6 But I guess in coffee shops the staff is still a big, sticking point, and I'll ask for what I expect-if I go back. read more

I am a fan of the barista's and clerks who work at Peet's. That said I am not a fan of the new Mighty Leaf tea they now sell at Peet's. Just today I walked 1.5 miles to Peet's for a decaf hot tea. on my 1.5 mile return trip I took my first sip of the hot liquid. What a total disappointment it tasted like watered down half and half. I know it's my fault because I had a similar experience with the new Mighty Leaf Tea a couple of times before. So other patrons beware if you're looking for tea try elsewhere. This will be the last large hot tea i buy at there. I am not a fan and probably will never be of The New Brand Mighty Leaf Tea. read more
