What was one of my go-to coffee shops is pushing towards the no-go category. They stopped carrying my favorite beans a long time ago so I am looking for a suitable replacement. It was not busy at all so I was trying to ask the girls working by the machines (where the beans are) about some of the different beans. They completely ignored me while they just carried on a conversation between the two of them, while one was just standing there eating something. I almost just left to go find another coffee shop. Even when I bought a pound of beans, the girl at the register had to go over and get them herself. I give 5 stars because they have The best drip coffee hands down. I can't get brewed coffee anywhere that compares to Peet's. Which does drive me a little nuts because I would be so happy if more places had drip coffee like they do! But that being said Peet's is the KING of drip coffee. Good iced tea as well. read more

Is it just me, but their coffee is tasting really watered down at the Encinitas location. And they don't rotate out the coffee blend options enough. Kinda expect a basic cup of coffee to taste more fresh- feel like they have the one blend for a whole week and like they add hot water to the pour....My opinion. read more

First of all, I have been a Peet's fan for years. Used to frequent the original shop in Berkeley. I frequent this one when down in this area. It's typically a week or so a month. Thus far, of all the Peet's I've gone to this one consistently has the person on the cash register that obviously couldn't care less. Today for example, the 20 something old young lady with the facial piercings literally just looked at me when I stepped up to order. No "good morning" no "what can I get you?". Nothing but potentially the best RBF I have experienced in my 35 years of frequenting Peet's. Come on owner......you got to do better than this. It's coffee. Not rocket science or surgery but check out your staff's attitude and maybe offer some tips on a simple smile or common courtesy. read more

The coffee is really good i come every Friday morning i always order 2-3 coffees and chorizo wrap but today when I came in i spilled some of my coffee when i was trying to put a lid on it and one of the men with a beard pretty short told me make sure you don't spill the next one and didn't even offer to refill or remake the other coffee i spilled. Peets is good, offering flavors Starbucks does not carry. Specifically, the Horchata latte which I think is delicious. Their pastries look like they are on steroids they are so big! This is the new location. They were previously about a hundred yards away in the strip mall. The furniture inside is unique and comfortable. The place isn't as homey as the old spot but it's brand new so it needs a few years to be broken in. I'm a devout Peetnik so there's little wrong they can do in my eyes. I love their coffee and I think their pastries blow away those at Starbucks. There's some outside seating but not much. It's a parking lot and busy street view so I can't say much good about that. Not my absolute favorite location but the product is consistently good. read more

So impressed! I was very surprised to see that PETES had moved. It has always been my go to place for a great cup of coffee, interesting personalities, interaction with highly intelligent people...and peace. The location is very close to the old one just around the corner where Hershel's deli use to be located for many years. But it is brand new. The entire building! It is very upscale and elegant in an earthy way. The staff is so incredibly wonderful. I am so pleased for them to have a new environment. It just works! The coffee and food is really great. I love the bacon cheddar breakfast sandwich. It is DEFINATELY worth trying if you are looking for super tasty. I give the new location the thumbs up. Holy coffee bean this is one cool Peet's! Just opened about a month ago and I really like it. Decor is modern with plenty of indoor seating and a few tables and chairs outside. Plenty of parking as it's in a small shopping center. The staff was super nice and drinks were served in a jiffy! I had ordered 5 drinks and didn't even get the chance to sit down and grab my phone to check in to Yelp because they called my name. I work close by so I'll definitely be back soon. Anyone else notice how the folks that like to leave crummy reviews here rarely have a profile photo? We may not see your face folks...but we do see you for what you are. I mean really... how entitled do you have to be to complain about your coffee being served in a paper cup instead of a mug...during a pandemic? Lol! Or how about the dude that says he comes daily since the pandemic, but can't wait until his regular shop opens back up again cause the service is horrible? I've been here a couple of times now and really enjoyed the visit. Last time around was a quick grab and go. This time I was able to sit and take it all in. As mentioned in previous reviews, it's a pretty busy location. Parking is packed and the register has a fairly constant line. While there are plenty of tables and chairs both inside and out, I was hard pressed to find anything open and available. I found a single chair and table outside. Soon after, I noticed someone seated at the window inside start packing up. I slid inside and grabbed a spot. Staff here were very nice and helpful. Service was quick as well. This is a solid Peets, located in a really busy shopping center next to Trader Joe's. This location is actually pretty convenient, especially if you are getting tires done at the nearby discount tire. The service is extremely friendly and the product served is solid. This location is actually fairly large and has indoor/outdoor seating along with free wifi, which is perfect for getting some work done. Overall, a solid place to get you tea and/or coffee fix. How have I never been to a Peet's before? This place is wonderful! I love the openness. The energy flows. It's very inviting. The staff was very warm and welcoming. I went with the iced vanilla latte with almond milk and an extra shot. I took a seat on these super cool barstools and waited. The baristas were so sweet when they called my name. We chatted for a minute about it being my virgin voyage to Peet's. They never stopped moving. I wish I had gotten their names. They were all smiles! This is the first time I've been to this location. I usually have a good experience at Peet's but this occasion was lacking which is why I felty the need to do a review. The new girl at register lack any personality. Yes, that's how I know she was new... She stares at you with a blank stare expects you to tell her want you want without a greeting or a smile. She didn't say anything either after I ordered until she realized I was going to stand there waiting for her to say something. At that point she finally said that my order would ready "over there"... Still no smile. She wasn't rude but I have to say most people who have this job at least have shown some customer service courtesy. Three stars because coffee is good and the guys making the coffee were more likable. Maybe some people would not care about this girl but I go in for a coffee as a treat and to have a nice encounter with friendly people. She's about as stale as two week old bread. Located a few blocks from my house, I really wanted to love this place. After several bad experiences though, it's time to move on. The good the bad and the ugly... Generally there is (a) disconnect between ordering something from cashier and having drink made as requested; and (b) a lack of customer service skills, where employees gets defensive and cop a 'tude rather than correct their blunder. For example I tell cashier to add real honey, not the fake honey which they call Simple Syrup. cuz I eat healthy and don't do HFCS (high fructose corn syrup). Cashier acknowledges me and presses some buttons on her order screen. After the drink is made, I sip it and bam! It tastes like fake sugar syrup was added. The barista claims the cashier did not put "real honey" on the order. She does not offer to remake the drink. I go to cashier and ask for refund cuz I'm now late. The barista comes over and apparently there's some CYA (cover your ars) involved and they're now both making me, the customer, feel guilty, like the mishap was my fault. Instead of a refund they they talk me into re-making the drink, which now has a different issue, but I'm now way late so I take it and scoot out. Awesome DM... Guess what. This was second time this identical thing occurred. So while driving I call the store and the manager answers. After I explain what just happened he denies that his staff did anything wrong (wtf?) so I ask him for phone number of the DM. (district manager) He tells me their DM is visiting the store right now (!!) and puts the DM on the phone. Great! DM was awesome! Fair and balanced. He admits there may be some issues with having disconnect between ordering a drink and having it made. And admits their customer service skills need work, then says he'll work with the store manager on these issues. Nice! Also he offers me two free drinks, which I had to decline cuz I am complaining for the principle not for getting freebies. Final chapter So far I've had bad luck with this place 3 times. Today, while waiting for my seafood order next door, I decide to give Peet's another try. Will skip the details and just say they made my Macha Green Tea Late incorrectly and then both baristas defended their work. This location has absolutely zero customer service skills. I left the store and popped my full cup into the waste can outside. Atmosphere ............ 4 stars Parking .................... 4 stars Drink quality ............ 2 stars Pricing ..................... 3 stars Customer Service .... 1 star Multiple bad visits .... 1 star -------------------------------- Score Total .............. 2.5 stars . ps.... Avis car rentals slogan is "We're number 2. So we try harder!" They are always second to Hertz, who is corporate-like and high priced. So Avis goes above-and-beyond with great customer service and pricing. They try harder! Had a bad experience at a previous peets and they gave me a second chance card. I tried using it at this location. The barista at the front questioned me about the card. I didn't get his name but he has a beard and thick rectangular glasses. He said the card was expired, rolled his eyes, and let out a big sigh. He honored my drink but have me a small half filled. For a slower time of day I would expect better service, especially the second time around. Steer clear of this location. Management please look at your people and their service. read more
