We stumbled upon Pauli's while looking for another restaurant to eat at with no wait on a Saturday evening. Omg- Guy Fieri rated must try Lobsta Roll & Rainaiscrazy did a challenge here!? I'm sold. This is a small sandwich shop with limited seating, the staff here are very friendly & chill. Ordered 3 lobster rolls- opted for the hot buttered since they said most people get that & I never had a hot lobster roll before. Were they small? Yes. Expensive? Yes. Was it worth trying? Absolutely! The lobster rolls were packed with chunks of lobster meat & mayo with hot butter on a soft, grilled hot dog bun. Lobster meat was plump- tasted fresh, sweet & tender. Mmm...sooo freakin' delicious! I think I went to lobster heaven. My kids loved it too, guess it was that good... we enjoyed every bite. I agree with Guy Fieri- the Lobsta Roll is definitely a must try! :p
I was in the area recently and heard from friends that I had to try the local lobster rolls and clam chowder. On my hike along the Freedom Trail, I stopped by here to refuel and take a break. I went with the Hot Buttered Lobster Roll. I really liked the lobster to bread ratio. There was so much lobster that it kept falling out. Lobster was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of butter. I also went with the large New England Clam Chowder. The chowder was very flavorful, but a bit watery compared to what I'm used to. I don't think it's something I would ding a star for, but I would consider it a local preference. There were plenty of clams and a fair amount of potatoes. If I'm in the area again, I wouldn't mind coming back to try other items on their menu.
Got a chance to try Pauli's using a food delivery service after seeing them highlighted on a rerun of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. They prepared our order very quickly and everything was packed well, and the food was outstanding. The lobsta roll included 7 oz of tender lobster just kissed with lemon and mayo and nestled in a grilled roll--delish. It also came with Utz original chips. The creamy clam chowder was an excellent complement too. The steak pizzaiola sandwich was stuffed with shaved tender steak with American cheese and topped with a tangy marinara sauce -- tasty and filling, especially with the sub roll. The Fat Felix was all that it was billed to be, with shaved steak mixed with grilled onions and gooey cheese and chopped bacon--an elevated cheesesteak for sure. Look forward to trying other menu items on my next visit.
Last stop before I went home and it was great. Went at 10 am and they serve the entire menu so you don't have to wait till 11. The roll is great, on the more expensive side but worth it. The place is small so I would grab food and enjoy at the park.
I was recommended to go to Pauli's for lobster rolls. I had previously tried a lobster roll out in Westborough, and I was genuinely disappointed. This place redeemed whatever it was I had in Framingham. The place is pretty small. I just ordered at the counter, and the person taking my order was super friendly. Wish I got their name for a shout-out. There's not a lot of seating in the establishment; it feels like the place is meant for a very quick meal. FOOD: I got a hot buttered lobster roll and it came with a side of chips. I actually ran into the owner while I was there, and he had explained that their lobster rolls are unique in the sense that they actually toss their lobster meat in a pan with butter. You can really taste it. Buttery lobster heaven. Would definitely come again if I'm back in Boston. I could probably eat ten of those hot buttered lobster rolls in one sitting and have no regrets.
One of my lobster rolls in the city and it didn't disappoint. Large chunks of sweet buttery lobster all on a nicely toasted roll. This place does it right!
I remember enjoying my lobster roll a lot more a few years ago when I last had it here. This time around, something about the lobster (temperature, texture) seemed like it really was just taken out of the fridge and put on a bun (which was nicely toasted at least). I'm a little wary about coming back for a lobster roll again, but would be willing to try something else! Otherwise, service was quick and it wasn't too crowded inside.

First meal in Boston and we were looking for lobster rolls that were open at 9AM and Pauli's was it! A short drive from the airport through a small street but that early in the morning, we got parking right away. I found this spot on Yelp but when we arrived, I see that it was also featured on Guy Fieri's Diners, Dive-ins and Dives at one point. There's photos of the owners with famous folks along the walls. Inside is more of a take-out setting bu there is some seating within with small tables and bar seating along the front window. Food took about 10-15 minutes to come out and you pick your chips at the counter. We ordered the hot and cold lobster rolls and clam chowder. Our first rolls of the drip and these were good! The prices were a little steep, but in our New England journey, all the lobster rolls were around this price around $30. Lobster rolls are filled with 7oz of lobster on a grilled New England style hot dog roll. We got one cold and one hot version. The lobster was good, and had some bouncy meat portions. Cold was tossed in some mayo/lemon combo and the meat felt more dense (likely because cold). The bread itself was a fine vessel but you had to eat it relatively fast, could be more grilled in my opinion. Clam chowder was a medium thickness, and some clam pieces in there. Overall, I'm happy we picked this spot as our Boston lobster roll. Definitely a solid start to the copious amount of lobster we tried on this trip!
So it's a little off the beaten path sort of tricky to get to and find, but well worth it! Lobster was good I would say 3 outta 5 but the claim chowder.. that's where it's at ! Full of claims not potatoes and was soo good! Picked the perfect cool rainy day too.. it's a soup kinda day! I think the lobster would have been better with butter or aioli something to go along with it .. just meat and a bun.. but it was good not bad by any means..
Lobstah Roll!!!! That's what my buddy said when we were looking for lunch, 30 minutes after eating cannolis at Modern Bakery, right down the road. He said "You gotta try Pauli's" I looked it up and it's right around the corner. I had the Clam Chowder and my daughter had the Lobstah Roll! Wow! When you walk in you're greeted and if you aren't from a city it might come off as gruff but these people in here are very attentive and friendly...in a Boston type of way! As great as the service is, the food is out of this world. $32 for a Lobstah Roll and worth it! If you are in town and want a great small, family owned spot, this is definitely worth a stop! Thank you again to all of the employees there for being g so kind to us Southerners! We will be back!
We were greeted upon arrival, which is always great. Seating is limited to some counters, probably about 5-6 people max. There was enough space under the counter to store our luggage because we were traveling. We ordered the lobster roll and the England Clam Chowder. The lobster roll was good but I wouldn't say it's worth it's price. It came out much smaller than I thought, but that's my fault. I was hoping there was some more garnish or cheese or something added to the roll and lobster was a bit dry imo. Nonetheless, it was good, don't get me wrong, just not what I thought it would be.Clam chowder was delish!! I would definitely order the clam chowder again! I would come back to try their other options if I'm ever in Boston again

My friend recommended Pauli's in Boston, so of course I had to try it! We were hungry for breakfast and ordered the Hot Lobster Rolls, Clam Chowder, and a breakfast plate with toasted bread, eggs, steak, and potatoes. The food was so delicious! The breakfast was a bit oily, but the clam chowder and lobster rolls were absolutely amazing. Since there were three of us, it was easy to share everything. Definitely worth it, the food was great, the place had a nice vibe, and the front desk staff were really friendly. Honestly, I'd love to try more, but since we're just visiting, we'll save room for other spots too. read more

I opted to Grubhub my lunch on a chilly afternoon. I ordered the skinny vinny and some clam chowdah. Delivery was super quick, but the order was messed up. I got a chicken wrap instead. Sucked arse, but at least Grubhub reimbursed me for the sandwich. The wrap was pretty salty with type of caesar dressing they used plus the grated parm cheese. The chicken itself was okay. Kind of ruined my lunch as I was looking forward to the vinny sandwich and not some basic chicken wrap. I would def not order the chicken caesar ever....the clam chowdah on the other hand was pretty delicious. Flavorful, creamy and hearty. 0 stars for the chicken caesar wrap (boring and salty) 4.5 stars for the clam chowdah I'll give this joint another shot as their other sandwiches look really good. read more

The food is amazing. I had the Hot lobster roll and it was the best I have had. And we come here once a year and try new ones every time. The lobster tasted super fresh and the buttery roll was a huge plus. My buddy had the steak bomb and and it was huge and very good. The price for what you get is excellent. They staff is friendly and helpful. It does get pretty busy so don't expect them to cater to your every question. With that it is a small shop so there are only a few seats. Don't expect an open seat but you could lick out and get one. Definitely gonna come back and try their other sandwiches. They also were making a custom 6ft lobster roll(Pictured). read more
Amazing no fuss lobster roll! The roll had tonssss of lobster on it and comes with a bag of chips. One of the best lobster rolls in Boston! There wasn't too much seating but we were able to snag some. Service was very quick and friendly. Would definitely come back if I'm craving a great lobster roll. read more

Honestly one of the best spots in Massachusetts. Anyone who's been to Paulis loves it. Their sandwiches are incredible. They are extremely affordable too. Generous portions, you might even get two meals out of your order. Cute spot right in the North End. Not a ton of room to eat, but more of a take out spot anyways. Always looking forward to coming back to Paulis! read more

Came here for their lobster roll and it didn't disappoint! The bread was soft and the lobster meat was plentiful (I had to scoop some out just so it would fit into my mouth/wouldn't spill). Paid too much for it (few bucks more than others I've been to in Boston). There was a line but it moved fairly quickly. There's only a handful of spots to sit in the small corner of the place but we got lucky and snagged some seats at the counter. read more
I came here because it was listed as a place that has the best lobster roll in Boston. And it was good, but for $29 I was expecting a bit more. The restaurant space is very small, with some bar stool seating, no tables. No problem, I knew that from the Yelp reviews anyway. But Yelp also said that they have alcohol, which they definitely do not. Sort of a bummer since a white wine would've been SO much better with the lobster than a Diet Pepsi. I would not have come here if I knew they didn't have wine. But I know that's not the restaurant's fault. The only reason for the 3-stars is because for the money I paid it was really just fine. Not at all bad, but nothing impressive. I will say though that the guy behind the counter was very welcoming & friendly. read more

Great stop for lunch! They have something for everyone. Best Italian sandwich I've had. The hot lobster roll was delicious and comes with a side. We got fries and had enough to share with 3 people. The southwest sandwich was huge! Great, quick stop when walking through the city. read more
The clam chowder is amazing, and our favorite out of the three we tried in Boston, including the restaurant next door. The lobster roll was good. Definitely coming here the next time we're in town. Yummy and quick lobster rolls here! This small spot has a bigggg menu, I usually don't go for sandwiches but they really had something for everyone! After ordering, the staff were so friendly and quick to make my lobster roll. The lobster was not the best that I've had, but decent and fulfilled my lobster roll craving. They piled in the lobster too, which I liked. I don't think it was a super special roll, but that might be because I simply ordered the cheapest roll. I will have to try their other specialty sandwiches to make a full judgement! I mostly recommend this place due to their quick preparation time and ease of access in the North End. No fancy frills, just quality sandwiches, some unique combinations, and authentic flavors. Super Mario, what can I say? A combination like no other, meatballs with a side of mozzarella sticks. The meatballs are more like softballs, the sauce is savory and the hoagie roll was as fluffy as it gets. Excellent baby! My only ask would've been for a toasted roll adding some crunch to the bite. Phenomenal grub spot, no insane wait and definitely a worthy visit in Boston! This place screams Boston! read more
A local spot for sandwiches but they're known for their lobster. We got a huge spread of both hot and cold Lobster Rolls which came with chips and freshly fried fries. We also got the Lobster Avocado Salad which was very generous and refreshing. They're very generous with their lobster in the rolls as well. Their Clam Chowder was a must, honestly my favorite thing. So many clams! So hearty and comforting. I can see why they're a favorite. Service was fast, friendly, and casual. There's not a lot of space for seatings though so probably best for takeout. read more
We wanted lobster (specifically a lobster roll) and this place came up with high stars near us. The offer a cold or hot lobster roll option. For this visit we went with hot. They give you a lot of meat for the roll (25ish bucks). I do think it could have been a little more buttery but it wasn't bad. I saw a few people ordering chowder but we didn't get any on this visit. This place is easily passable in the mist of all the places on the block but a good one to drop by. Not a lot of space inside so you may have to dine elsewhere or wait for a spot. read more

So, so good. 100% worth a visit if you're in the area and/or visiting. Pro tip - we saw a HUGE line where we thought Pauli's was and it turns out it was for Neptune Oyster, the restaurant next door. We spent ~10 minutes waiting in the wrong line only to realize that Pauli's was next door. Once we got in, we were able to order relatively quickly and our order came out piping hot. We walked over to the nearby park (Rose Kennedy Greenway) to enjoy our meal and take advantage of the amazing weather that day. We got the hot buttered lobster roll with fries, as well as clam chowder. The hot buttered lobster roll was jam packed with succulent fresh lobster meat. Fries were good, nothing super special. However, the clam chowder...one of the best (if not THE best) clam chowder I've ever tasted. It was creamy, rich, and had just the right amount of seafood flavor. If I ever get a chance to go back, I would love to try some of their other sandwiches as well! read more
Came in for the lobster roll which was mid. Small, family run business in the north end. Staff was great just didn't think the lobster roll was worth a visit. Okay, kind of disappointed but still leaving a good rating since I knew what we were missing. Food -lobster roll. It was good, the bread was bad though. The lobster didn't have the sweetness I was looking for and wasn't as buttery even tho I ordered a hot butter. We needed to add salt to it to carry the flavor. Aside from the bread, the lobster was really good! It was packed full of claw meats and was tender, just really missing the butter Service -service was fast and nice. Ambiance -I like the darkness and the bar seating. It felt like a comfy grab and go with seating I want to come back during lobster season cause I know it'll be way better! read more
It's phenomenal... that simple. I thought it was going to be three bites but I was surprisingly full at the end. I got a warm one and a cold one and I actually much preferred the warm one! This place was pretty damn busy and yet the staff were absolutely incredible and friendly! Downfall: it's tiny so don't expect to sit and eat.... Very limited seating.... But we made it work and he even moved boxes around just so I could sit down. Great experience read more

First stop for food in Boston. Lobster rolls buttered and cold were a bit disappointing. Clam chowder was also very watery and bland. James Cook has the best lobster roll and clam chowder in my opinion. Neptune's lobster rolls buttered was good, but also their clam chowder was very disappointing. read more

Place seemed hoppin' Stopped in because i saw the sign for some clam chowda! The lady enjoy some chowder occasionally and so i popped in. I think it was about $11 for a half quart plastic container. Came out in about 5-10 minutes, and was piping hot. The chowder base was a tad more watery than i like, I'm more a fan of the thicker chowder. However, it has plenty of clams, potatoes and it was enjoyable. Add some salt pepper and crackers and you good to go. Would return. Staff was quick and nice with it. Place had plenty of people eating lunch. Their menu is pretty extensive and is written on all the walls. They have lobster rolls cold / toasted with butter and also some custom styles. read more

Like pretty much all the restaurants in NorthEnd, Pauli's is another overhyped eatery IMO. Got the cold Lobsta roll. It was tiny though packed with lobster. My biggest gripe is the roll. It was stale w no mayo or butter. Since they don't seem to add any mayo to the lobster the stale roll rubs the whole thing of flavor making it bland and too dry read more
This is my 4th time in Boston and I wanted to try lobster roll from this touristy spot. It's wasn't too crowded luckily. I ordered the warm butter lobster roll and it came with a bag of chips. You have to order at the counter and they call your number when the order is ready. It took them 5 mins to prepare my order. My first reaction wasn't as exciting as I would expect it to be. I wasn't like "oh, it's a mind blowing roll". It was good. Nothing too fancy about it. I felt it was slight over priced compared to the one you get at James Hook & Co. You get slightly better lobster roll at James Hook for $35 compared to Pauli's for $30. Next time, I am definitely going to James Hook if I was in the area. 4 stars mostly for the beef sub my friend had. He was raving about it. Huge sub and stuffed with flavorful beef and mushrooms. I had a bite and I absolutely loved it. Maybe it's better to order chicken or beef sandwiches here. read more
