We stumbled upon Pauli's while looking for another restaurant to eat at with no wait on a Saturday evening. Omg- Guy Fieri rated must try Lobsta Roll & Rainaiscrazy did a challenge here!? I'm sold. This is a small sandwich shop with limited seating, the staff here are very friendly & chill. Ordered 3 lobster rolls- opted for the hot buttered since they said most people get that & I never had a hot lobster roll before. Were they small? Yes. Expensive? Yes. Was it worth trying? Absolutely! The lobster rolls were packed with chunks of lobster meat & mayo with hot butter on a soft, grilled hot dog bun. Lobster meat was plump- tasted fresh, sweet & tender. Mmm...sooo freakin' delicious! I think I went to lobster heaven. My kids loved it too, guess it was that good... we enjoyed every bite. I agree with Guy Fieri- the Lobsta Roll is definitely a must try! :p

For the price, not impressed. 1. Lobster meat not fresh at all, and noticeably so. 2. Small rolls for the price (yes, lobster is expensive. Yes, there are bigger rolls with more meat for the same price in similar areas) 3. The toast on the bread and the bread itself was subpar Sadly wouldn't recommend based on my experience with the lobster roll. Maybe their sandwiches are good? Also, just as a heads up, minimal seating (grab and go vibes). Staff was also very sweet and friendly

Got a chance to try Pauli's using a food delivery service after seeing them highlighted on a rerun of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. They prepared our order very quickly and everything was packed well, and the food was outstanding. The lobsta roll included 7 oz of tender lobster just kissed with lemon and mayo and nestled in a grilled roll--delish. It also came with Utz original chips. The creamy clam chowder was an excellent complement too. The steak pizzaiola sandwich was stuffed with shaved tender steak with American cheese and topped with a tangy marinara sauce -- tasty and filling, especially with the sub roll. The Fat Felix was all that it was billed to be, with shaved steak mixed with grilled onions and gooey cheese and chopped bacon--an elevated cheesesteak for sure. Look forward to trying other menu items on my next visit.

Hot Buttered Lobster Roll and Onion Rings

They really don't need my review as most everyone knows Pauli's has great lobster rolls. Had the classic cold and the Hot Buttered with onion rings. Of course everything was great.

Last stop before I went home and it was great. Went at 10 am and they serve the entire menu so you don't have to wait till 11. The roll is great, on the more expensive side but worth it. The place is small so I would grab food and enjoy at the park.

I was recommended to go to Pauli's for lobster rolls. I had previously tried a lobster roll out in Westborough, and I was genuinely disappointed. This place redeemed whatever it was I had in Framingham. The place is pretty small. I just ordered at the counter, and the person taking my order was super friendly. Wish I got their name for a shout-out. There's not a lot of seating in the establishment; it feels like the place is meant for a very quick meal. FOOD: I got a hot buttered lobster roll and it came with a side of chips. I actually ran into the owner while I was there, and he had explained that their lobster rolls are unique in the sense that they actually toss their lobster meat in a pan with butter. You can really taste it. Buttery lobster heaven. Would definitely come again if I'm back in Boston. I could probably eat ten of those hot buttered lobster rolls in one sitting and have no regrets.

I was in the area recently and heard from friends that I had to try the local lobster rolls and clam chowder. On my hike along the Freedom Trail, I stopped by here to refuel and take a break. I went with the Hot Buttered Lobster Roll. I really liked the lobster to bread ratio. There was so much lobster that it kept falling out. Lobster was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of butter. I also went with the large New England Clam Chowder. The chowder was very flavorful, but a bit watery compared to what I'm used to. I don't think it's something I would ding a star for, but I would consider it a local preference. There were plenty of clams and a fair amount of potatoes. If I'm in the area again, I wouldn't mind coming back to try other items on their menu.

One of my lobster rolls in the city and it didn't disappoint. Large chunks of sweet buttery lobster all on a nicely toasted roll. This place does it right!

I remember enjoying my lobster roll a lot more a few years ago when I last had it here. This time around, something about the lobster (temperature, texture) seemed like it really was just taken out of the fridge and put on a bun (which was nicely toasted at least). I'm a little wary about coming back for a lobster roll again, but would be willing to try something else! Otherwise, service was quick and it wasn't too crowded inside.

Pauli's is a casual sandwich shop in Boston's North End that has become well known for its lobster rolls, while also serving a wide variety of sandwiches, soups, and comfort food. We walked into a simple counter-service space with limited indoor seating, the kind of place that feels more like a grab-and-go stop than a sit-down lunch spot. Even with its small footprint, there was a steady stream of customers coming in for one of the signature sandwiches, and the energy of the room stayed practical and focused on getting orders out efficiently. The lobster roll is the clear standout. We ordered one and found it generously filled with lobster meat, making it feel substantial compared to many other lobster rolls around the city. Whether you choose it hot with butter or cold with mayo, the focus stays on the lobster itself rather than overwhelming it with extra ingredients. The toasted roll added just enough texture without taking away from the filling. Although the lobster roll gets most of the attention, the rest of the menu offers plenty of options if seafood is not what you are looking for. There are oversized sandwiches, soups like clam chowder, and classic sides that make it easy to find something for different tastes. The portions are generous overall, making the prices feel reasonable considering the amount of food you receive. The service was quick and efficient, which fits the fast-paced counter-service concept. The staff moved through orders with speed, and the food came out without much delay. The biggest thing to keep in mind is the limited seating, especially during lunch hours or peak tourist seasons in the North End. If the dining area is full, taking your food to go or finding a nearby outdoor spot can be a better option. Overall, Pauli's is a great stop if you are looking for a satisfying lobster roll without an overly formal seafood restaurant experience. The generous portions, straightforward menu, and convenient location make it an easy place to visit while exploring the North End, especially if lobster rolls are at the top of your list.

First meal in Boston and we were looking for lobster rolls that were open at 9AM and Pauli's was it! A short drive from the airport through a small street but that early in the morning, we got parking right away. I found this spot on Yelp but when we arrived, I see that it was also featured on Guy Fieri's Diners, Dive-ins and Dives at one point. There's photos of the owners with famous folks along the walls. Inside is more of a take-out setting bu there is some seating within with small tables and bar seating along the front window. Food took about 10-15 minutes to come out and you pick your chips at the counter. We ordered the hot and cold lobster rolls and clam chowder. Our first rolls of the drip and these were good! The prices were a little steep, but in our New England journey, all the lobster rolls were around this price around $30. Lobster rolls are filled with 7oz of lobster on a grilled New England style hot dog roll. We got one cold and one hot version. The lobster was good, and had some bouncy meat portions. Cold was tossed in some mayo/lemon combo and the meat felt more dense (likely because cold). The bread itself was a fine vessel but you had to eat it relatively fast, could be more grilled in my opinion. Clam chowder was a medium thickness, and some clam pieces in there. Overall, I'm happy we picked this spot as our Boston lobster roll. Definitely a solid start to the copious amount of lobster we tried on this trip!

Brant D.

So it's a little off the beaten path sort of tricky to get to and find, but well worth it! Lobster was good I would say 3 outta 5 but the claim chowder.. that's where it's at ! Full of claims not potatoes and was soo good! Picked the perfect cool rainy day too.. it's a soup kinda day! I think the lobster would have been better with butter or aioli something to go along with it .. just meat and a bun.. but it was good not bad by any means..

Mai T.

We were greeted upon arrival, which is always great. Seating is limited to some counters, probably about 5-6 people max. There was enough space under the counter to store our luggage because we were traveling. We ordered the lobster roll and the England Clam Chowder. The lobster roll was good but I wouldn't say it's worth it's price. It came out much smaller than I thought, but that's my fault. I was hoping there was some more garnish or cheese or something added to the roll and lobster was a bit dry imo. Nonetheless, it was good, don't get me wrong, just not what I thought it would be.Clam chowder was delish!! I would definitely order the clam chowder again! I would come back to try their other options if I'm ever in Boston again

Hmmm. After reading so many favorable reviews, my wife and I thought that this would be a good spot to have a quick dinner before walking around Boston in order to burn some calories and build up an appetite before stopping by Mike's Pastry for dessert. My wife had the cold Lobster Roll and I had the Fish & Chips. First the Lobster Roll. If you are expecting a buttered bun that is lightly toasted on the flattop, not what you are going to get. If you are expecting Lobster in a light mayonnaise with maybe a little celery, not what you are going to get. Fish & Chips... the "coating" was something akin to cement board. Impossible to cut with the plastic knife and fork. Picked it up and ate it with my fingers. Well, it was a good thing that we still had plenty of room for desert at Mike's! Won't be back. Oh yeah, the bill was just over $40. The Sparkling Water and Diet Coke were excellent. read more

I was told to go and get a Lobsta Roll and for some reason the Fish and Chips were calling my and my wife's name. I am glad we listened. The batter on everything (fish, fries, and onion rings) was the best I have ever had! Also, the people are super friendly and on top of the busyness of the lunch rush! We had a great experience at Pauli's and would recommend it to anyone that is going to be on the North Side of Boston! read more

Staying in Boston for the weeknd and found this place online. I stopped in and picked up four subs/wraps for family today. Each one was perfectly (and freshly) prepared and delicious. The place was packed with people from their teens to their 60's. Will make a point to stop in on my next visit to Boston. This place is AUTHENTIC! I had the penne pasta with chicken and broccoli in white wine sauce ( I forget the actual name off the dish.) and it blew me away. The staff is straight forward and very nice. "It's a Lobster Roll, of courrrse it has mayo," the cashier said before suggesting the pasta dish. There is limited seating and usually people waiting around for their orders so don't plan on dining in. Solid place! The food is standard - lots of options for seafood lovers, meat eaters, vegetarians, and those craving breakfast. Came here for my first lobstah ro and it was pretty good! Tons of lobster chunks with light dressing, piled into a toasted and buttered hot dog bun! I think it could have used some light seasoning like a pop of lemon or some slight salt and pepper to make it stand out - but it hit the spot! My mom got the fish sandwich which was surprisingly delicious with a crunchy battered outside and light flaky inside! My sister got the southwestern wrap and had no complaints. My dad got the outback sandwich which was also pretty good! The roast beef wasn't dry and there was some caramelized onions that really brought it together. All and all-reasonable prices, huge portions, and friendly service. read more

Don't know much about lobster rolls but when in Rome (in this case, Boston)...I followed Yelp advice and trekked to Pauli's. Great neighborhood, right out of a movie. Pauli's is small and busy. 2 lobster rolls to go (teenager back in the hotel - sigh). Was recommended to get them cold because hot would get soppy with the butter on the roll. Although hot probably would have tasted better, I was floored by all the meat atop the measly bun. Very tasty! Huge claw meats...not much else from the lobsters, though. Definitely recommend for lobster lovers which, much to my benefit, my teen isn't. Whee! read more

It's everything you want from a Lobsta Roll when you're in Boston, MA! Easy walk to the north end, and Pauli's has table seating after you order at the counter. Good place for lunch if you're in the mood for a lobster roll but they seem to have many options for seafood and non-seafood eaters. So back to the Lobsta Roll, you can have it as is or with hot butter. If I'm doing this, I'm going all the way because what beats New England lobster + All-American hot dog bun + hot butter? And not that you really need anything else, but they'll throw in a bag of UTZ chips on the side. This really is one of Boston's best. It's spelled lobsta, and not lobster because it's everything you want with the Boston accent! Worth the trip, worth the fare, worth the Yelp review! read more

Just wow. This place is absolutely unreal. The entire time I was eating my sandwich, I couldn't stop telling everyone else around me how good it was. To me, getting chicken in a sandwich can be dicey because there can be scary pieces in it. This chicken was amazing. So crispy and crunchy and good quality chicken. The pesto mayo that was on it was so flavorful and had the perfect amount. Typically on wraps like this, it doesn't come with feta but I thought the addition of feta was an awesome choice. More often than not, they disappoint at that price point. And some don't even come with fries for that price! But that's where we are. I ordered the Capital Burger for $23. It was arguably the best burger I've had in my life. Like a French onion soup infused burger. The taste was delectable, the quality top notch, and cooked to perfection. And yes, it came with fries. Finally, a burger worth the hefty price places charge nowadays. Wife had the Ribeye Steak Sandwich which was flavorful and plentiful, as we brought half home for lunch the next day. And surprisingly, the wine list is VERY reasonably priced. Again, if you eat out often, you know the prices for a glass of wine have risen beyond ridiculous the last couple of years. It was like a burger you get on the grill when you're grilling out at home. It was a basic burger with American cheese, bread and butter pickles, and thinly sliced red onions with mayo on the side. Not overly battered and the onion stayed in the "ring", the fries were basic frozen fries that arrived piping hot, which helped the taste, but overall the fries I could do without. If ever in Boston, try this place out. Our waitress was nice and checked on us every chance she could get, as for ambience. It can get loud, you can sit by the window and ppl watch as well.

For our main dishes, we tried the Idiot Burger with a side of truffle fries. The burger was good, but honestly, nothing life-changing. It was nice to try it once, especially with the Gordon Ramsay name behind it, but it didn't quite live up to the hype for me. The truffle fries were alright as well. We also ordered the Classic Caesar Salad with fried chicken, which was pretty mid. Nothing really stood out about it, and it's definitely not something I would order again. Overall, I'm glad we got to experience Gordon Ramsay Burger, but I wouldn't say the food completely blew us away. The fried pickles were hands down the star of the show! It's worth trying at least once if you're curious, but I think there are better burger options out there for the price and hype.

We ended up getting the following to try: - Double trouble burger (2 patties) - 3 chicken tenders + fries (Parmesan dip + parm truffle fries) Thoughts: Chicken tenders themselves had no flavor. I love Pauli's. When I moved to the North End I went searching for my go-to breakfast omelette spot. I tried out a few different places including Anthony's & Theo's Cozy Corner. Anthony's was a bit sloppy and greasy but I liked the price. Theo's food was just mediocre and was a bit too pricey. Neither accept debit cards. I then found Pauli's. It was perfect. Great location, friendly people, robust menu, a big, delicious, neat omelette, good prices, and they accept debit cards! While everyone speaks English, it was also nice to keep my Spanish in check with some of the Spanish speaking staff. It was a match made in Heaven. I quickly became a regular. At first I was just eating omelettes for breakfast, but I soon started eating wraps and salads for my late lunch/dinner. Now, I've tried a majority of the sandwiches on the menu, a few salads, most of the breakfast options and the buffalo chicken mac and cheese. My favorites: Steak tips & eggs, sausage, egg & cheese bagel, California wrap, greek steak tip wrap, buffalo chicken wrap, Mamma Lucca, and the Pollo Pazzo. I tried to withstand the temptation, but was too tempted by the cookies. Now I allow myself one per week. These cookies are incredible!!! I can honestly say that I have been more than satisfied, at times even blown away, by the food I've eaten. It's fresh, unique, very tasty, and quickly prepared, yet doesn't come out sloppy. I also love the vibe of the place. It has a big TV, an eclectic mix of music playing, and the atmosphere is a mix of 1950's North End nostalgia and funky, modern decor. read more

Stumbled into this small spot right in the middle of the city, and wow--I'm so glad I did. It's a cozy little place that mainly serves sandwiches, but don't let the size fool you. The menu is packed with options, and they're especially known for their lobster dishes. I went for their signature hot lobster roll--and let me tell you, it lived up to the hype. The roll was absolutely packed with juicy lobster meat, soaked in warm, melted butter. Every bite was rich, comforting, and just what you'd want on a chilly Boston morning. It was like a hug in sandwich form. I went in during the early hours, which was perfect because it wasn't too busy yet. But I can totally see this place getting packed later in the day--it's got that popular local gem energy. The staff were quick and friendly, and you could tell they knew how to handle the morning rush without missing a beat. Honestly, I'm already thinking about going back to try more of their menu. There were crab rolls, shrimp sandwiches, even lobster mac and cheese calling my name. If you're in Boston and love seafood (or just delicious food in general), this place is a *must*. read more

A few days ago, my family and I decided to grab some chicken rolls at Pauli's, and it turned out to be such a simple but satisfying meal. The place has a relaxed, welcoming vibe--nothing fancy, just a spot where you can enjoy good food without fuss. The chicken rolls themselves were delicious. The chicken was tender, juicy, and seasoned really well, with just the right balance of spices. The rolls were fresh and soft, holding everything together perfectly. My kids loved them, and we all ended up swapping bites because each roll had something a little different--one with a tangy sauce, one with a touch of heat, and one classic. Service was friendly and efficient. Our orders came out quickly, which is always a win when you've got hungry kids. Even though it was a casual spot, it felt like they genuinely cared about making the food tasty and enjoyable. By the end of our meal, everyone was happy and full, and we left chatting about which chicken roll we'd try next time. It wasn't just a quick bite--it was a small, enjoyable family outing that reminded us that great food doesn't have to be complicated. Gustavo Woltmann read more

Awesome!! Our family loves the sandwiches - all of them! Jam-packed with fresh ingredients and made-to-order, they are totally a meal in themselves. My favorite is the Skinny Vinny, and you don't have to be a vegetarian to love this sandwich. The eggplant is cooked perfectly, the mozzarella is super fresh and the pesto and roasted red peppers give just enough kick. We have tried many items on the menu. I can honestly say that anything at Pauli's, especially if it's built with a chicken cutlet, is absolutely delicious and very satisfying. Check out Pauli's Catering services if you can. I ordered for a work event. Paul was very helpful with questions about the selections and sizes. The Chicken Parm, loaded with chicken, was a big hit and the Chicken Broccoli Ziti Alfredo was rich and creamy. The food arrived hot and on time. The deliverers were polite and courteous and set everything up. The whole experience did not disappoint. Everyone liked it so much we ordered for another event. Thanks Pauli's!! read more

After hearing so many amazing things about Pauli's, I was really excited to try their food. However, my recent experience left me somewhat disappointed. It's worth noting that I ordered through Uber Eats, so perhaps the quality suffered due to delivery. The chicken parm sandwich I received was underwhelming, to say the least. The taste was surprisingly bland, lacking the flavors I had anticipated. It fell short of my expectations, and I couldn't help but feel let down. Despite this, I believe it's only fair to give Pauli's another chance. I'm willing to explore the rest of their menu before making a final judgment on this sandwich spot. Hopefully, their other offerings will redeem my initial impression, as there is definitely room for improvement in the dish I ordered. Overall, my first encounter with Pauli's wasn't as impressive as I had hoped. However, I remain hopeful that future visits or alternative menu choices will provide a more satisfying experience. read more

While visiting Paul Revere's house, I was craving a mouthwatering lobster roll. Luckily, I stumbled upon Pauli's, a well-known place located in Boston's "Little Italy" and famous for its lobster rolls. My impressions of Pauli's exceeded my expectations: the lobster roll was indeed extraordinarily delicious. True, the price may be a bit higher than other places, but the lobster roll, hot with butter, I can confidently say that it is worth every penny. The flavor of Boston's amazing seafood is perfectly captured in this lobster roll, making it a truly special and unforgettable culinary experience. For seafood lovers, I highly recommend a visit to Pauli's Restaurant. It is a hidden gem in the city that leaves a lasting impression with its exquisite lobster rolls and the unique essence of Boston's rich seafood selection. Despite the higher price tag, this place has exceptional flavors and excellent service, making it a must-visit in "Little Italy." read more

HANDS DOWN THE BEST LOBSTER ROLL IN BOSTON! I've done my fair share of tastings in Boston in search of the best lobster the city has to offer. Sure, you can wait 2.5 hours at Yankee Lobster House or pay $30 at Neptune for a lobster roll like I did... but why do that when Pauli's offers a yummy lobster roll for minimal wait and half the cost? They are generous with the meat, giving the option for lobster tossed in hot butter or lobster tossed in just the right amount of cold mayo over a toasted bun. Whether it's their cold/hot roll, sub, or lobster mac and cheese... all very tasty without having to break the bank! Don't like lobster? No worries! Their wraps, other subs, and pasta are just as good!! Pauli's is honestly the best hidden gem in the North End with little wait time, great customer service, and delicious food! As a New York native growing up with Italian friends and family, I truly appreciate this gem in the North End. After I recently moved into the neighborhood and started my new job, I began to hear the buzz on Pauli's and had to check it out myself! Paul and his team cater to my office AT LEAST once a week, and when lunch isn't served from Pauli's... I pick it up on the way home from work for dinner. Not only do I stop in for the steak tip dinner or California wrap, but most importantly, I stop in to say hi to Paul and catch up with him and his staff. I never leave less than 100% satisfied with the quality and service at Pauli's. It is clear that they have a large fan base, as I am excited to see them duke it out at Boston magazine's upcoming Battle of the Burger event with 19 other top voted restaurants. Paul and team.. While hiking The Freedom Trail, I took my group of 9 Girl Scouts there for lunch. We were very pleased with the variety and the quality. I got the eggplant parmesan sandwich, which was cooked fresh, it was not too dry, nor was it too greasy, it was perfect, with a nice flavorful sauce and cheese. Alot of the girls got roll ups, which they all loved, and the quantity was generous, and the prices very fair. The staff was very accommodating for a large group that walked in off the trail, and they were all able to sit at a long table together. Just reviewing the lobster rolls. I'm told the other stuff is good, but there's no way I'll ever try any of it. Not with those lobster rolls hanging around. Their rendition has twice the meat of more pedestrian rolls. The bun is a toasty, chewy number that compliments the cold lobster meat nicely. In lieu of fancy garnishes (like "mayo"), the Pauli's roll is dressed only with butter (lots of butter). Also, they serve lobster rolls at 8am -- which is a surprisingly big draw for me, Friendly service, and a shorter wait than other nearby lobstermongers. read more

I love coming here for breakfast -- their menu is always satisfying, and everything is fresh and well-prepared. But honestly, the real star is their lobster roll -- hands down, the best I've had. Perfectly buttery, tender, and packed with flavor. My only small complaint is about the front counter girls. Pauli's ROCKS! The food is delicious and fresh, quality throughout, and the prices are so reasonable. Folks everywhere are raving about this place. Delicious, nutrious, and inexpensive - what else could you ask for? Thanks for the great addition to the North End. You filled a demographic that was wide open...smart move. What is disturbing is David C's comment that the owner of Pauli's is a racist...what an inappropriate remark...has he heard of 'defamation of character'? read more

The world famous Quincy's Market houses many vendors and experiences worth trying while in Boston…read more You can wind up spending a whole day in the area or simply at the market in and of itself. There are 3 distinct Quincy's Markets that offer a whole variety of food options and local produce and souvenirs; there's so much to choose from and do. Wicked Lobster is definitely up there when it comes to some of the best Lobster Rolls I've had in the New England Area, but the price vs portion ratio was a bit off. Honestly, I just wish navigating the market without spending $100 at just one of the vendors was more common. Some people argue you'd be better off getting food elsewhere instead of the market for seating and portion control, but I'm glad I gave Quincy's a shot. The history and prestige of visiting the spot is worth going on its own and the food is genuinely good quality and fresh. The whole area is near the water is branching off from the Freedom Trail, so the atmosphere and vibes are high and full of adventure and exploration. Pay Quincy's a visit and give the vendors a shot if you're not afraid to spend some money for the day.

So a quick T ride from where I was at and a short walk, I found the market, and made my way in. After parousing some of the food vendors, I found this one and smelled the chowder and lobster and knew I needed to have some. I got their combo of a cup of Clam Chowder and lobster roll (with a fountain drink). It tasted freshly made, and the chowder was nice and hot. It was also relatively flavorful and the lobster roll had a nice ratio of sauce to lobster roll. The bread itself was soft and tasty. The place was busy, but the service was quick. The meat wasn't sweet and it tasted like it was previously frozen and it wasn't anything special. The bread was bland. Store manager Glenda was so sweet and accommodating. She was just a delight and really wanted to have us have a great experience. We did sample the clam chowder and the lobster bisque. Again, it was OK. The chowder tasted a little chalky and it was overbearing so you couldn't really taste clam. And the bisque was too creamy. A traditional bisque has to have more of the lobster and sherry flavor traditionally but seeing that this one was cream based, it masked the true flavor of the richness of the lobster base. I suppose if you're somebody who never tried a lobster roll, you can come here, but I've just eaten way too many of them to know what is the best. To be fair, I wanna give it another chance and maybe i'll have a better experience. The location is perfect in Back Bay.

Inside was on the smaller side with several tables and high top seating but very clean. Menu had a solid range of options for a smaller place.. Subs, sandwiches, burgers, soups, and salads. One of those spots where you could come back a few times and try something different each visit. Only regret.. i missed the special sign that mentioned they had a breakfast burger available that sounded delicious, would've ordered that immediately instead. Overall, Stubbys is a great spot to stop in for a quick bite to eat if you are on the move with solid options to choose from.
