Came here a THIRD time after my last review of this restaurant. Last time I went with my boyfriend for our anniversary and we did not have the best meal. HOWEVER, the owners accommodated us and treated us with such care. We came today and it was AMAZING. They did not play when it comes to great service after our last time. My bf was so happy we came back and was greeted with a beautiful steak that he was looking forward to. We are so happy with how well we were taken care of especially by the owner (Greg). I had Valentine's Day dinner at Parkway Grill and ordered the Surf and Turf (special, $100), filet mignon, pan seared crab cakes, and chocolate lava cake. The steak and crab cakes were great, and the chocolate lava cake was to die for. The complementary bread was also the best I've ever had-- my boyfriend and I asked for several refills throughout the night. My only gripe is that the lobster tail was a bit overcooked and rubbery, which was a bit disappointing given the price. The atmosphere is both classy and elegant yet still comfortable, and service was great. Overall had an amazing time, though I'm not sure it justifies the price tag. read more

Hands down my favorite steakhouse. This place is so elegant and classy. I made reservations ahead of time to sit inside which I recommend because the decor is so warm, I loved that the lights were dim and mostly candles. Food was 10/10. I order the 1/2 Mary's chicken which was amazing and my boyfriend order the NY steak which he loved and I normally don't eat too much red meat but I will say this was really good, next time I'll order it. We also ordered a small bread basket which wasn't bad but wasn't anything amazing, I'd try something different next time. Next up was the lobster risotto which was really good and then the broccoli, broccoli was full of flavor, I loved both. We ended the night with a dessert and since we were celebrating the chef sent it out for free which I thought was very nice and made my boyfriend feel special, they also gave him a hand written note congratulating him. The dessert was a special that night, it was a key lime pie with fruit toppings and a side of raspberry sauce, very good and sour. We decided to bring our own bottle of wine that we loved, cork fee was only $35. The staff was extremely kind and attentive. Valet parking only but we found parking up the street. Delicious! This review is overdue during DineLA. I tried their prix fixe menu! My goodness all the choices were delicious! My wife and I were very happy with the service and dining experience. Our waiter was awesome, service was so nice. As for the food I was happy with what I ate. I tried the tiger shrimp corndogs, they were huge and deep fried to perfection! The filet mignon was great and is always a great option. As for dessert I tried the s'mores. The s'mores were bomb! Toasted marshmallow on the top was a nice tough! My wife and I dine at this restaurant and often we entitle our guests. The atmosphere, the food and the service is exceptional.

I've been here many times and it was always great. The room is large, not crowded, dark and cool. Two weeks ago it was outstanding. From the valet service to all of the wait staff, I've never felt so taken care of. Our waiter Jose was amazing- knowledgeable, gracious, knew exactly when to stop by table. The food was superb- we split the special salad which contained arugula, sliced poached peaches, pickled onions, pistachios and an oil dressing. I ordered Marys chicken- so tender, great sauce, mashed potatoes and roasted figs. My husband had the short ribs with polenta. Both dinners were generous and so special. They have outdoor dining which still feels very nice. Probably one of the nicest converted parking lot spaces to outdoor tents I've dined at in Covid. The staff was incredible and answered all our questions about the menu. We came here for Easter lunch as a family of 5, valet parking. Ordered a few appetizers: TIGER SHRIMP CORNDOGS [5 stars] It's essential a shrimp tempura stick. Came with four on a plate and was delicious!! Would definitely recommend and could easily eat a million of these PAN SEARED CRAB CAKES [4 stars] I enjoyed the bed of avocado salad more than the crab cakes, nothing spectacular about how it was seasoned or the sauce on it. But really enjoyed the salad. Great textures. LARGE BREAD BASKET [4 stars] Nothing superb about it besides just bread and butter. There were a variety of brew options but nothing was worth ordering another basket after we finished it. Entrees: SHRIMP LINGUINE [5 stars] My shrimp was a little tough but the pasta and sauce with arugula was perfection! Great plate DOUBLE CUT COLORADO LAMB CHOPS [5 stars] My husband ordered this and I tried a piece and thought it just melt in your mouth delicious! Perfect amount of fat. Decided not to any of the sauces onto the meat. Didn't want to ruin a good piece of a meat with a sauce. That was a good choice. Thoroughly enjoyed the food, ambiance, and service here. My first time. Had a New York Steak, side of mashed potatoes with lobster, and a barrel aged old fashioned. Everything was delicious. Waiter was professional and nice, manager introduced herself and asked how everything was. Prices are as you would expect from a legit restaurant on the higher end, but it is worth it for the experience and service. Only thing to look out for is parking. If you don't like doing valet, there isn't a ton of potential options near by, its quite a ways down from Houstons where you can easily park on Arroyo. I will be back, this restaurant is now in my top 10 favorites. read more

Having had dinner there before, I expected good food and service. On this particular evening the quality of the food and the service vastly exceeded my expectations. We ordered shrimp with pasta, scallops, filet minion and aged New York Strip steak with peppercorn sauce. As much as I love peppercorn sauce, I didn't use any because the steak was absolutely perfect. Without a doubt, the best steak I have ever tasted. Our server very knowledgeable quite engaging. Don't mind parking my car but do mind the valet parking staff chasing me and forcing me to pay the valet fee when they didn't even park my car. The guys was super rude and disrespectful plus wouldn't move until I paid him the fee. We spent $2000.00 on a diner for a party of 11. My wife, kids, and I came to the Parkway grill for a nice family outing. They showed us to our seat underneath a nicely decorated tent. Everything was going well until I laid my eyes on a two paged overpriced menu. For starters, we sat down and about a minute passed and the waiters were already asking us what we wanted to order. The rushing and pushing continued throughout the entire meal. The food was mediocre and not what we expected. Not to mention the appetizers were $15 a piece. The most unsettling part was the bill. We are a family of 6 and the total amount was $350. This was absolutely out of our budget and not nearly what we can afford. Overall this restaurant needs a lot of work and change put into it. THE classic Pasadena elegant dinner location. Classic California fare, excellent service, wonderful wines, spectacular flowers. This has been the place for birthdays and anniversaries for at least a generation. Everything in the menu is wonderful, but the deep fried whole catfish with ginger and cilantro is the story. (Pro tip: you can order it de-boned and you won't have to work to get the meat off with chopsticks.) Reservations are almost always required. read more

Very mediocre. Haven't been at Parkway Grill for many years but the food quality has declined tremendously and service was slow. Valet car service was the only part of the experience that I would rate higher. It took the server about 10+ minutes after we were seated to bring us menus. We had to send back three of the three dinners for more heat as the steaks were more rare than medium. Black bean soup was tepid and lacked salt. The fingerling potatoes were greasy and also lacked salt. For 4 people to spend $450 for this meal was a crime. Not making this mistake again. Very disappointing. read more

I've been to Parkway Grill twice now, and on each occasion my meal was spectacular. Most recently, I came with my parents and brother for an early birthday celebration. I'll review the items that I ordered. Bread basket: 5/5. Decadent. As many others have noted, the bread basket comes with an excellent selection. The butter is served warm and is a perfect compliment to the bread. Wedge salad: 4/5. The wedge salad is a good size and the bleu cheese dressing has good flavor. The bacon bits have a sweetness that does not agree with my palate, and this is why I rated 4 out of 5. Ginger fried catfish: 5/5. When I ordered this dish, the waiter told me that it was "the size of a baby shark". I didn't understand what he meant until the dish was brought to the table. The fish is served whole (head and all), and it is huge! In hindsight, this dish should be shared by 2-4 people. It is way too much food for one individual, but my GOD, it is delicious. I was skeptical about the ginger flavor being overpowering, but the fish is so perfectly spiced and there's just enough ginger to remind you that it is in the dish, but not so much that it overwhelms the palate. read more

This place deserves a 3.5 but not quite a 4. We started with the crab cakes, which were very good. Followed by the Caesar salad, it was good but nothing special. Next I had the short ribs, it was really good, tender and flavorful. Although I didn't really enjoy the sides. We also tried the scalloped potatoes as a side, that wasn't good at all. We were excited to try the creme brulee napoleon since we kept seeing all the other tables order it. Unfortunately, we were disappointed, all the layers were too hard and the sauce was way too sweet and tasted like butterscotch. It has a cool bar with a live piano player. I haven't been pleased with Smith Brother's restaurants since the pandemic hit. I realize all restaurants are suffering and I try to be understanding, but for what items cost a Smitty's I expected a higher level of care when it came to preparing my to-go order. The portions were tiny, much smaller than what is given during dine-in. The sandabs just looked sad and minuscule. I was not pleased. Then, I heard they had their own app and were starting delivery service. Feeling optimistic that perhaps they were headed back to what they once were, I ordered from Parkway. The clock literally timed out on my order and I received a message saying my money would be refunded because the restaurant was either too busy to fulfill my order or there was a connectivity issue. They should add another option, user error. My guess is someone is not familiar with the app...likely no training, and didn't know how to fulfill my order. I think it's great they have their own app but make sure tech is ready to go before rollout and be sure people know how to use it. I ordered at 5:30, I highly doubt Parkway was so busy no one could fulfill my order. So disappointing. Get it together! read more

The Parkway Grill is my go-to restaurant when I am in Pasadena. The space is open and lovely, and has enough soft surfaces so that it doesn't echo as it gets crowded. And even when it's crowded, there is enough room between tables so that you don't feel like you are eating in a communal space. I tend to go for the ribeye, which is always excellent. But my companions have tried many of the other dishes, and they have consistently been pleased. Service is attentive but not intrusive. It's everything I'd want in an upscale but not stuffy restaurant. read more

Went here with my sisters for Dine LA. Came here on a Friday night with reservation but they let us wait for 30 mins. Initially they said wait for 10mins they will just fix the table but we waited for 30mins. SMH!! When we asked if our table is ready those ladies in front desk gave us attitude, c'mon really!!! Came here for restaurant week. The atmosphere is so beautiful and fun. The cocktails were yummy and the food was perfectly cooked. Ordered the oysters to start and they were fresh. The skin on the chicken was crispy and the meat was moist. We got the chocolate passionfruit dessert and it was scrumptious. Parkway Grill has been a special occasion spot for us for decades, and it has never disappointed. The food is always delicious, gourmet in a way I find very approachable. The service is so personal, we have an old family story about the lesson in wine pairing we were gifted on one visit. I didn't care for wine at the time, but the manager brought us two glasses, on the house, of the wine he recommended for our steaks. It was the first time I understood how not only does the right wine makes a steak taste better, but the steak can also enhance the flavor of the wine. My most recent Parkway Grill memory is of a lovely birthday meal that included a handwritten birthday card from the staff. Details matter, and Parkway Grill masters them. read more

Today was a much better experience than our last visit here. Our server Ozzy was right on it all through the meal. He was very nice and always on the spot. So today we were dining while "Dining LA" was going on so you had a small 2 course meal for $25 a person. Wow. I expected the portions to be a little smaller and not so elaborate. But GREAT job! Between us we had a mixed green salad with raspberry vinaigrette , two orders of the tiger shrimp corn dogs, two lobster club sandwiches and a 1/2 roasted chicken over mashed potatoes and carrots. Yes, these were lunch meals. I may never eat again! The shrimp corn dogs were basically a fried shrimp on a skewer which were crispy and delicious and so well plated! Then the lobster club sandwiches were enormous and the lobster was cooked nicely and very fresh and served with amazing garlic fries! Wow we will keep the vampires away tonight! And finally the roasted 1/2 chicken had a delicate jus and the skin was just crispy enough that you could enjoy it. With a couple of carrots (al dente) over fresh whipped mashed potatoes and a few cloves of cooked garlic as well!! Wow we all so enjoyed everything. Sorry no room for dessert! read more
