I always look forward to the parkway grill w their attentive service and great ambiance. This last time it looked like they were trying to shove people in every corner. We felt like our table was in the middle of a walkway. The food was very mediocre for such a high price tag. The oysters were tasteless again this time and the fish was also dry again. Insanity is doing the same thing over again and expecting a different outcome. It's a beautiful restaurant but I'm not sure I'll be back given the plethora of other upscale restaurants. read more

Service is always great here. We celebrated our son's birthday and they did not disappoint. Food options are terrific because seafood and steaks are offered. We had the fish special and rib eye steaks which were wonderful. They were willing to accommodate our request for Arroyo's chocolate soufflé. Thank you! read more

Freaking amazing!!!! We loved every single dish!!! Truly enjoyed our entire dinner. I must admit the san Marzano tomato pasta dish was one of a kind. We even had all the appetizers that you can think of, but our favorites were the lamb lollipops and definitely got Caesar salad. The shrimp appetizer was also very good. That sauce that accompanies with it, soooooooooo bomb!!! really good. plenty of parking on the street, but there's also valet. It is five dollars with the valet. Everything is clean, up to, if not beyond clean and up to par. Def go! read more

It's always a pleasant experience dining here. Brought my mother here this last Mother's Day and my mom had a wonderful time. She ordered the deep fried cat fish and to our surprise, it's literally an entire nicely fried whole catfish that barely fits on her plate! It was delicious! The texture was nice and crispy on the outside but tender and flaky on the inside while not losing much of its natural juices. I had the days special of lamp chops and they were delightful. We ordered all their desserts and nothing disappointed us. Thank you for making it a wonderful Mother's Day dinner! read more

Great outdoor set up for Covid 19! The lighting adds a nice ambiance and the plants and fences take away that sitting in a parking lot feel. The staff is great! Service is excellent! Love the extensive wine list. The food is great! We tried the appetizer special of the night - hurrays and prosciutto which was really good. My husband had the braised short rib which he couldn't say a bad thing about. My petite fillet as cooked to. Perfect medium. It was tender and juicy. I ordered the lemon butter sauce for my steak. It was really good. The lemon custard dessert was really good too. I have nothing negative to say about Parkway Grill. I will definitely be back! read more

Day 4 of #dineLA is in full swing for the first week! 3 times a year for 2 weeks at a time, dineLA features many participating restaurants in the surrounding cities with prix fix menus for lunch and dinner at an affordable price.. for something that would otherwise be way more expensive on the regular menu. Now that's not to say EVERY restaurant will have a stealer menu, but if you take time to peruse the menus, you will find a couple that definitely offer the best bang for the buck. For me personally, lunch is almost always better than dinner because most of the time, they have the same menu items except for an additional entree or dessert for dinner. So why not go lunch timeee?? Today for the MLK holiday, I decided to take my mommy out to a lunch date at Parkway Grill in Pasadena. Now I recently tried a few samples of Parkway Grill during Huntington Hospital's Fall, Food & Wine Festival earlier in the fall and thought the food was extremely tasty. Also, their lunch menu looks BOMB. My eyes spied bone marrow, lobster and wagyu for just $25?! I'm getting it. Haha The restaurant is located a few blocks from Huntington Hospital right next to Arroyo Chop House. There is only 1 hour parking on the streets right in front, which is useless if you want to dine at a restaurant. HOWEVER, if you go directly around the block to the street on the other side, there is plenty of 2 hour parking!!!! Just don't be so lazy and walk a few blocks! Gotta work for your meal ehh? Also, I'm glad that I did because I randomly saw Parkway Grill's sign that shows their organic, own growned garden in the back of the restaurant!! They grow their own vegetables?! That is impressive. The exterior of the restaurant kind of looked like an old-fashioned, cozy house. But the inside is elaborately decorated. This restaurant opened right at 1130am and there were already 5 parties with reservations ahead of us. We made reservations too don't worry. But hint: make a reservation during dineLA week, because it gets PACKED. Parkway Grill is known for their complimentary bread baskets that they serve in the beginning. It comes with a side of chilled butter and organic white salts. In the bread baskets you have 5 different types of breads: white sour dough bread, pea corn bread, raisin and small fruits bread in the back, a tower of crispy bread that's seasoned and crispy like a chip, and two twix stick like breads that's fun to eat. All were delicious. roasted bone marrow, foie gras crust, house giardiniera, sourdough toast. I couldn't even tell that it was foie gras in the crust, but just knowing that made me enjoy the dish even more!! Who doesn't like anything expensive??? The bone marrow was extremely fatty and suptle and soft. The crust was lightly oiled and extremely flavorful surprisingly. It comes with the toasted sour dough, which I am grateful they didn't give too much of. The quinoa mustard sauce was almost like a friendly version of horse radish. lobster club, herb and garlic french fries. Whoaaa I like me shoestring fries!! Who doesn't? Perfectly seasoned and fried. They're always fun and easy to eat on a full stomach. Parkway Grill was generous with their lobster inside of the sandwiches. There were no shells. It was seasoned with a creamy salad sauce. Then we have tomato, avocado and lettuce. The fact that it was 3 bread layers made me feel like it was an overgrown tea sandwich! american wagyu "mishima reserve" burger, maytag blue cheese, tomato aioli, sweet potato fries. I like how instead of using the traditional mayonnaise and ketchup on a burger, they went ahead and made an aioli sauce of tomatoes. It was strikingly VERY GOOD. Lightly creamy and slightly tangy. Perfect. The sweet potato fries were perfect. Who can do those wrong???? The option of how much vegetables you want to put in your own bread was nice. Tip for parking: park one street parallel over 2 hours free and walk over! read more

We had an excellent meal here during a visit to Pasadena. We had cocktails, a bottle of wine, entrees and dessert and everything was impeccable. We will definitely be back. read more

I recently attended a milestone birthday celebration at Parkway Grill, and for the wonderful occasion it was, the food should have matched. Yet, it didn't. It was barely "okay," but it should've been much better. The best part about this was how they handled their outdoor dining amid this covid pandemic. That, they handled well. For starters, there was no bread brought out, but I later learned, we could've ordered some if we had PAID for it. There's something inherently wrong with being told I have to PAY for bread. I've been to many finer dining establishments in my day where their bread baskets are AMAAAAAZING and filled with all kinds of specialty breads, and NOT ONE of those places asked me to pay for bread or a bread basket. Sure, they probably hid the charges in their lofty entree prices, but you know what, I can handle that. Don't show me you're charging me outright.... let me "think" it's for "free." Moving on to the Caesar salad, it wasn't bad, just a bit too lemony for my liking. However, the salmon I ordered was supposed to come in a lemon butter sauce, but if it was there, I'd fall over from shock. I couldn't see anything on it. It looked plain, tasted plain (absolutely zero flavor), and it wasn't even cooked through... raw throughout most of it. I was disgusted. There was one cherry tomato as a garnish. That was it. No sides. Nothing. I was sooooooooo disappointed. Part of that is definitely my fault for not paying better attention to the menu. I should have ordered some sides. Strangely enough, nobody at our table ordered sides. Although not discussed, I wonder if we all secretly assumed (and wrongly so) that our entrees would come with "something." Who knows. But back to the salmon.... ironically, 5 years earlier, we were at Parkway Grill's sister restaurant, Arroyo Chop House, and when I got the salmon there, it was the best salmon I've EVER eaten, and yes, I remember it well. Stupid me... I figured, same owners, so I can count on the food being as good. I was so wrong. I don't remember (or care) what others had because it wouldn't raise my opinion of this restaurant anyway. It was my mother-in-law's 95th birthday. That's a big deal. Not many people get to that age, so when it came time to singing happy birthday with some kind of dessert, Parkway Grill's answer to that was a measily little cupcake with a token candle on it. That's ALL they could muster is a stupid cupcake? They weren't willing to offer their creme brulee napolean or chocolate lava cake or their meyer lemon custard, things of a fancier nature... but only gave a cupcake with sprinkles, and understandably, it's not even on their menu. I was enraged at this point. Thank goodness, the birthday girl had a lovely time and was far more interested in who she was celebrating with than with what she was eating. Good thing it wasn't MY birthday celebration. I can assure you, we won't ever return. read more

OMG! Had some guests in from out of town and decided to treat them to a night out at Parkway Grill, what a disaster! Things were going ok until the second hour and no food arrived to our table, and the kitchen was closing, I had mentioned to our waiter several times where is our food? Everything he said it should be up in a few minutes.......nothing, I had to ask to talk to the manager and he apologized profusely but by this time it was 10:00, and when the food arrived it was cold, needless to say they didn't charge us for anything but what a terrible experience this was and needless to say we will not be visiting this establishment again! read more

Always a winner in my book of favorite restaurants. We had reservations to celebrate my son's girlfriend's graduation and finding her first full time job. Upon arriving, valet met us immediately and opened my door. I have always loved the feel of the restaurant when I enter..very warm and inviting. Hostess met and seated us. We were given water and a bread basket fairly quickly. Their bread basket has several choices, my favorite is the cornbread with jalapeños. The waiter arrived to take our drink order. We had a round of red wine. We started our meal with Caesar salads and crab cakes. Salad is very good, but crab cakes fell short in taste and appearance. For our main meal, we ordered scallops (2), steak (2) made to our request. Everything was fresh and well seasoned, we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the ambiance. We were too full to try and order dessert, but that looked really delicious too. Parkway Grill is on the pricey side, but service and food is well with it. It is always a treat for my husband to bring me here..will be visiting again soon. read more

The ambiance is nice. We sat outside on the patio. It was well lit and warm enough with the heat lamps., ver comfortable. I didn't like the fact that you had to walk pass moving traffic coming into the parking lot to go to the ladies room. Parking should probably be better coming in another way if possible. The menu had a nice variety of selections. The food and appetizers were ver good. Our waiter Edward was great. Very knowledgeable about the menu, nice personality and very professional. Overall wonderful night out. I will definitely be back. read more

For all you experienced Fish lovers out there, you know what I'm about to say, "If you see Branzino (Mediterranean Sea Bass) on the menu - Harpoon it! The Branzino at the Parkway grill was deboned, flavorful and delicious, and cooked perfectly with crispy skin. A REAL 5 Rest of the meal, ambiance, cutlery, service - a solid 4 In the mold of a New York Steak house like a Gallagher's or Smith & Wolensky but not quite as good - still it is in Pasadena and not Manhattan so an enjoyable eatery read more

After waiting so long to try this restaurant we decided to celebrate our anniversary over dinner. The staff was extremely nice from Felipe the Valet, the hostesses, to our servers. Service was excellent! No complaints for service or hospitality but unfortunately our food was very bland, the sides seemed to be instant potatoes and very generic sautéed mushrooms. The steak had absolutely no flavor. I do not wish to disrespect the chef or kitchen staff perhaps they had an off night. Unfortunately our dinner was not very appetizing. I only review so that they are aware of the meal which was served to my Family and I and avoid this going forward. Unfortunately we will not be returning read more

Our go-to date night. Food is fantastic. Victor and Naz at the bar are phenomenal bartenders!

Would've had better service (+ bread I didn't have to pay $11 for, soup "at market price" and properly cooked food) at an Olive Garden. Picked this restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday based on it's reviews and description of 'market-driven fresh' produce. Utter disappointment - would not recommend this place to anyone celebrating a special occasion, in search of a relaxed atmosphere, well-crafted food or who just wants value for their dollar. We were seated outside where we had a direct view of the valet stand and people getting out of their cars - ambiance buzzkill #1. We were also placed right in front of the server bussing station where wait staff would continually bump into us and grab dishes/drop dirty dishes. Buzzkill #2. When we asked if our table could be moved a bit out to allow their staff better access to their supplies, we had to move the table ourselves. The waitstaff were brusque and matter of fact (had to ask to hear the specials, birthday never mentioned even though it was confirmed twice with the hostess) and rushed service. The food was mediocre at best - pasta overcooked, salmon undercooked. As others have mentioned - nothing is included with the mains (mains average $45 each). After dinner, had to embarrassedly, remind our server that we were celebrating a birthday and he eventually brought a tasteless vanilla cupcake out along with the dessert we had ordered. We left the restaurant disappointed and I was mad at myself for choosing such a crap show for my husbands birthday. I get it that restaurants need to recoup from Covid and staff is in short supply and likely overworked but either up your game food and service wise or significantly lower your prices. Epic fail. read more

Always our favourite special occasion restaurant, atmosphere, service and food hard to beat! Worth the hour's (plus) drive to get there!

Enjoyed a very pleasant experience at the Parkway Grill. Came for their DineLA menu. And long story short. We were not disappointed. The filet mignon is the one of the best filet mignons that I've ever had. It was so soft. Cooked to a perfect medium rare. I dont know if it was the steak or the silverware but my knife slid through the steak like butter as I was cutting. Every bite was enjoyable. The lady ordered the scallops which were nicely seared. The bed of polenta was good. The bread assortment looked cooler than it tasted. The arugula salad starter was delicious along with the oysters. This place serves really good food. The service was almost as good as the food too. Parking is a little rough. There is valet for right in front of the restaurant or you can park on the street behind the restaurant with a 2 hour limit. read more

Ron took care of us and made this a fantastic experience. We always enjoy coming here and sitting outside in their lovely patio that they converted from the parking lot was exceptionally good. The lighting was excellent, service was a impeccable and the food was delicious. I had the Sea Bass special and the Bibb lettuce salad. My husband had the Alaskan Halibut and the cauliflower dish. Ron brought us the signature creme brûlée dessert, which did not disappoint. Wow! We also had a lovely Croatian wine along with some great conversations with Ron. This place cannot get any better right now. We are so happy we got one last visit in before the lockdown. I was having such a nice time I didn't take any photos of the food. It was beautifully prepared. My sea bass was really perfect, light flakey and the the good kind of moist and tender. The valets were really helpful and had everything running like clockwork, despite losing all their parking and having to make things work anyway. They handled it beautifully. read more

Great ambiance and service. Ribeye was to die for! Decent wine list. Will definitely be going back!

This place is amazing! A great place to go for special occasions. The short rib was likely the best I've ever had, and my girlfriend said the lamb chops were the best she's had. I have visitied Parkway Grill many years ago as part of a social event with faculty colleagues at USC. Unfortunately I do not remember much about the food from then so do not have a reference point as far as whether quality has changed. Last night I joined family and close relatives to dine at Parkway Grill as an opportunity to reunite after a long period of isolation from the epidemic. As usual, my family researched the menu options before arriving so that we would have ample time to decide on dishes that would suit everyone's appetite and taste perfectly. Based on the pricing, we had high expectations going in. Unfortunately, after finishing our meals, we felt that these expectations fell short. As far as merits go, I felt that the ambience was excellent, and their wide area for dining provided a positive, quiet, dining experience with plenty of room to space out and walk around. Even though temperatures dropped in the evening we did not feel cold. Our waitress was also friendly and helpful. The restaurant provided us with three baskets of bread, each of which had a generous portion of various types of bread such as corn bread, multigrain bread, sourdough, and crispy cheese thin crackers. These were quite tasty and I was sure to request a box to take these home to enjoy for the rest of the week! However, beyond the bread, we (my family and I) were, in general, less than pleased about the food quality, in the context of the restaurant's price point of course. Regarding selection, I noticed that among entrees there were not many interesting offerings for vegetarian or vegan diners other than two pasta dishes and two pizzas. These looked quite heavy so I opted for a beet salad. I must admit that the salad, although served quite late (well after all the other hot entrees were served!), was quite good. The salad includes one block of cheese, not an excessive amount of beets, and a reasonable portion of apple cubes. My wife, who ordered a Scottish salmon dish, felt that the fish was overcooked, which is unfortunate for salmon of this quality. She and I also sampled some of my mother's rib eye steak, and felt that the meat itself was on the dry side, lacking the strong umami from a well marbled cut like rib eye. My daughter and son ordered a alfredo sauced shrimp scampi linguini and a marinara sauced angel hair pasta. In both cases, the ratio of sauce to pasta was excessively high and the sauce was just overwhelming for a good culinary experience. My kids expressed these opinions, and I echoed their sentiments after finishing their dishes. I did not have a taste of the catfish that my nephew and brother ordered, so cannot comment on the quality. I must say that portions are generous there, and they boxed about half the fish home. Finally, with regard to the service, although our waitress was friendly, I found it unusual (again from a restaurant of this caliber) that she could not remember our orders and had to holler out dish names to our party (of about 15). Overall in my opinion, I can not recommend dining here based on this price point as there are neighboring establishments in Old Town Pasadena that can provide higher quality food at a lower price point. read more

It was the first time back here after over 20 years, and I realized how much I missed this place, and it hasn't changed one bit. I mean that in a great way. Maybe it's the area that it's in, but the parkway grill has an easy going yet very romantic and fancy atmosphere. The service is impeccable and the food is excellent. Because I don't live in the immediate area, it tends to be more of a special occasion type of a restaurant, and I would go back there every single time. Parkway Grill - Bone-in Filet Mignon and DELICIOUS iced tea. - New American Near Me - Pasadena, California

Really enjoyed my experience here. Although a old time steakhouse type look, it is pleasantly upscale and elegant. Our reservation was immediately honored and we were given our choice of seating. When we were open to the selection they placed us in a very nice spot for good conversation and a good lookout into the restaurant too, in one of the raised areas at the edge. Our waiter was very professional and gave us a well paced adequate time for the entire meal. He explained the menu and specials well. I started with a basil infused martini, well chilled and deliciously refreshing. My dining companion and I shared a beet salad and they brought it on separate plates, and it was tasty and wonderfully dressed. For my entree I had the braised short ribs and it was succulent and extremely moist, could cut it with a fork. It just came off the bone with ease and the accompanying sauce made it even the more perfect. It came with a creamy potato and root vegetables that added the right amount of flavor. I had the rib with a glass of pinot. Perfect pairing. The bread basket is a wonder of delicious taste with a variety of breads from hearty to spicy cheese sticks. We just had coffee for dessert as the meal itself was quite satisfying. I would definitely return here again. A little pricey but worth the value. read more

This has to be one of my new favorite restaurants in Pasadena. My friends and I went in on a Friday night with reservations and were seated immediately. Everything was perfectly presented from the ambiance, the crowd which had a nice mix of families and younger crowds, and the quality of the service and good. COMPLIMENTARY BREAD AND BUTTER (5/5): Unlike any other bread and butter combination I've seen before, presented with a modern and classy mixture of different types of bread in various shapes, sizes and flavors. All types of bread were complemented perfectly with the butter, and no bread was left behind. ;) ROASTED 1/2 MARY'S CHICKEN (5/5): I rarely order chicken due to its bland taste and the uncertainty of how it will be cooked at each restaurant, but I took a chance with this dish because of its description. I was incredibly pleased with the roasted, juicy texture of the meat and the goat-cheese infused mashed potatoes. I'd highly recommend this dish and I would definitely order it again.
