She was welcoming and engaging. * It was Restaurant Week so there was a special menu and the regular menu. I chose to do the restaurant week menu and my husband ordered off of the regular menu. * Drinks - we each ordered a seasonal drink and after trying g them and pretty much downing them they were so delicious, we ordered several more from the regular menu. Le Jacobin seemed it might be weird but it was a good cocktail. The French Kiss is a perfect dessert drink. We live sazerac's so we had to try the chocolate sazerac. We weren't expecting to like it but it was one of the best saxerac's we've had. * Food - everything we ate was delicious. I had the chicken with gnocchi and it was just enough food and flavorful with a mushroom sauce. My husband had the seafood crepe with the mornay sauce. It was a hefty portion filled with tons of seafood from shrimp to scallops to octopus. I ate there last night with 2 friends. Had the most amazing chicken dish-- chicken breast covered with prosciutto, spinach, mushroom in a Marsala wine sauce. Delicious!!! My friends devoured their entrees also. I would give it 4.5 if I could. We also split a sweet crepe (the berry one!) that really topped off the meal! Only down side was our server forgot to bring my friend her salt and pepper, and couldn't be flagged down. Otherwise our sever was attentive and we tipped well. I ordered the Tour de France sandwich and also tried their crème brûlée and a few macaroons, all of which were delicious. I did not enjoy my experience at this restaurant. My server had a terrible attitude. Her face was frowned and she was very unpleasant to deal with. I asked the lady at the front desk for the location of the washroom,and she had the audacity to ask me what I wanted to do in the bathroom,and later apologized for her rude behavior. We came here on a Saturday during Naperville restaurant week & intendEd to have one of the price fixe menu items. I inquired about the size of the filet & was told it was 2, 4oZ filets. I was a surprised given the price but said let's do it. Imagine my disappointment when it came out as 1 4oZ filet with the frites. The waitress explained that normal menu had 2 fillets but the price fixe had one & apologized a couple of times. We enjoyed the dinner tremendously, the steak was cooked to perfection, her salmon was delicious, the fig/Brie app was also wonderful as was the creme brûlée. We had a nice glass of wine with do dinner & what the waitress did for the mix up with the steak was to top off our glasses which was the perfect touch. The venue is nice considering it's a store front in a shopPing center. WE left feeling very satisfied and will go back again. Food was amazing! We had the Lamb Shank, which was extremely tender, slow cooked for hours! The Garlic, Spinach-Mashed potatoes were so delicious, so buttery. Ended up walking out before getting anything... Made a reservation ahead of time for Mothers Day at 3:30, shortly after they stopped serving their Mothers Day brunch. Even called earlier in the day to verify our reservation. The entryway was packed with people as they clearly struggled with changing over to the dinner rush, and they did not appear to actually have records of any reservations on their computer. After waiting for about 10 minutes, we were seated shortly after our reservation time. We had water at the table immediately from the busser, but otherwise received no attention from the staff. After about 25 minutes of multiple staff members completely ignoring us as they walked by, the busser brought a third bottle of water for our table and we asked if we had a server. Shortly after, a server came, and without acknowledging the delay, proceeded to take our drink and appetizer order. (When asked how we were doing, we didn't complain and just politely said "good, how are you", to which she responded "I'll let you know when I go home") After another 20 minutes of being ignored, and watching the tables that got seated just before and AFTER us receive both their drink and food orders, we gave up and got up to leave. Finally, as we walked out, we happened to walk past the server who asked again "How are we doing", to which we simply said we were leaving. We told the bar staff (who did seem concerned) on our way out why we were leaving, as there was no one at the host stand. No one was working the hostess desk for 20 minutes with a line out the door and many empty tables. I don't mind waiting for high quality food but with two young kids it was a nightmare. I went to Paris Bistro last night. The food was good but the experience didn't start out well. The negative for me is that they absolutely insist that everyone wear a mask to gain entrance and walk to their table. This is the only restaurant in Illinois I've run into with this kind of strict policy. It could be why they were only one-third full at 7:00 on Saturday night. Most other places I go to are packed. The positive was definitely the food. Photos below. I had the Tuna Tower to start and then the Lamb Shank. Both were delicious and very flavorful. I would have preferred that they chopped the spinach very finely in the mashed potatoes as the full leaves messed with the great texture of the potatoes. My wife had the Onion Soup to start, and then a special, the shrimp Risotto. She loved the flavors on both. The soup wasn't salty at all. The only negative was that there were only three shrimp in the dish, which had their tails on still. With the place not giving us side plates, the tails ended up in a pile on the table. The service was generally very good, with one nit for me. I expect a French restaurant to maintain the French policy of not clearing plates until everyone is done with that course. Paris Bistro does it the American way of asking to clear a plate when that diner is done, which I hate because it makes the other diners feel like they should stop eating. Bad form. Their corkage policy is $25 a bottle, which I'm ok with. Their wine list is marginal. The server knocked it down to $15, so the $10 went straight to her tip. Overall, the positives outweighed the negatives and we'll likely return. read more

Wonderful, wonderful food. Terrible, terrible service. I haven't had restaurant food this amazing since pre-COVID, and even that is an understatement. Every single item, on every single plate (there were 3 of us), was 5 stars in my book. That NEVER happens. My wife and son surprised me by taking me here for my birthday. We started out with two appetizers to share: Crevette Et Prosciutto (Sautéed shrimp wrapped with prosciutto served with garlic lemon parsley white wine sauce) and Moules Frites (Steamed mussels in white wine, garlic, parsley, fresh tomato over French fries). Both were absolutely amazing, with the mussels being the best I've ever had in the US. The entrees: Jarret d'agneau (Braised Lamb shank with natural juices Bordeaux sauce served with baby carrots and spinach mashed potatoes), Pâtes aux Poularde (Fettuccini pasta tossed with clam meat and white wine light cream sauce topped with clams), and Steak Frittes (A Duo of 4oz fillet mignon served with haricots verts, bordelaise sauce and French fries) were all equally incredible, as were the sides that accompanied each plate. The two French red wines we had (a Merlot and a Côtes du Rhône) were both fantastic, as was the bread and even the butter. We usually take some of our food home, especially after downing two bread baskets. But everything was so irresistibly yummy that we couldn't bring ourselves to stop. And even still, my wife and I shared a dessert: Crème de la Crème (A single crepe stuffed with Bavarian cream custard, fresh slices bananas, Chantilly cream topped with bruleé bananas served with sea salt caramel gelato on the side). This was HUGE and delicious! My son ordered Macaroons (these clearly beat out my previous favorites from la Madeleine French Bakery & Cafe in the Houston Galleria). And because it was my birthday, I also got a scoop of gelato (with a candle) and a macaroon. Sadly, the service was awful. And what made it worse was that our young, inexperienced waitress seemed oblivious to her ineptness. She'd go around smiling with an "Everything is Awesome" attitude, not even once apologizing for the several miscues (if she was even aware), or her several lengthy disappearances. Several times she said she'd be "right back" with something, went AWOL for a while, and returned to the table for another reason--seemingly having forgotten what she went for earlier--and never even offered an excuse or apology when we'd ask her about the thing she'd forgotten (as if she was hearing the request for the first time). This restaurant could easily have become one of my favorites ever. As it stands, my heart aches at the disappointment for what it could have been. Though it's not too late. This could change if the owners are willing (and aware of their potential). I hope they realize their situation, and I hope they do something to fix it (like hire proper professional servers and send the rookies back to Dairy Queen until they are ready to handle something of this caliber). I'm going to rate this 4 stars anyway on hopes that they do just that. Despite one of the worse service experiences I've ever endured, the food alone still made the overall visit a very positive one. I'm hungry and I'm in a foreign land (ok, it's Naperville, but still). I pop open Yelp to find a diner and up comes Paris Bistro, a handy 5 minute drive from me. So I walked in at 10:00am on a Sunday, expecting to have to wait. After all, suburbanites have practically trademarked the concept of 'Sunday brunch followed by a visit to the Farmers Market and don't forget to wear your cargo shorts and sandals with socks'. Much to my surprise, no wait whatsoever. It was practically empty! This usually does NOT bode well. It begs the question, "What does everyone else know, that I don't?" The answer is: Nothing. Everyone else is an idiot. This place is great! Love the theme and decor, love the VERY unique and ambitious menu...there really isn't anything NOT worth loving! But since I need to be objective and not always blow smoke up your respective rear-ends, I'll find something to criticize. Hang on...I'm looking. Ok, got it! My chair is too low for my table. Or maybe my tabletop is too high for the chair. Or maybe my ass needs more padding? On to the food: I had the French Breakfast- 3 eggs my way (over-easy) with potatoes, bacon, a teeny side salad and a croissant. The eggs were cooked perfectly, the salad was crisp, the bacon was as thick as...idk. Something thick. A 2x4? And the croissant? Le sigh. As I'm stuffing my gullet, more folks are walking in... Some sit outside, some park it on the long banquette. Everyone LOOKS happy (albeit a bit hungover). So maybe the people in Naperville aren't necessarily 'idiots'. Maybe they're just drunks . The food here is excellent. Take your time and enjoy. All facets of our meal were perfect. The mushroom soup was full of rich buttery mushroom flavor and absolutely delicious. My wife had prix fixe menu with the cassoulet and she loved it. I had the veal "veau et champignons" and it was excellent. I was very hungry so I also had beef bourguignon(don't judge me) and it was delicious. The meal was well paced and served hot and fresh. Followed up the meal with great chocolate mousse and cappuccino. If Paris Bistro was in downtown Naperville, you couldn't get near this place. read more

Today was a special day; my wife's birthday. Fulfilling my promise of a trip to Paris we're here at the Paris Bistro. (Saved a lot of $$ on airfare and travel time) Stepping into the restaurant immediately prepares you to enjoy a nice quiet time and meal. We did arrive at 1:30 and only a few other people were there, but I just didn't see this turning into a loud bar. We had done some online homework so we had decided our meals: braised lamb shank and duck au vin. These were on the dinner menu since we have our dinner at lunchtime. Ordering this was no problem at all. The appetizers, oysters and oysters rockefeller definitely set the tone. (My wife thought her O/R were better than she has in New Orleans) The bar was now set high. The entrees did not disappoint. Matched with the spinach mashed potatoes and garlic mashed potatoes we were overjoyed. Dessert is here at home for later. (I'll stick a candle in the crepe) There will be many more visits since it's only 20 minutes from home because the variety of crepes and other entrees need to be explored. They have brunch, lunch and dinner menus available. Do put Paris Bistro on your list to try. I don't think you'll be disappointed. read more

We were the only people in the restaurant beside a mother and son. We waited 30 minutes for avocado toast only to be told we needed to wait longer because they got a $700 order placed. The order was placed after our order had been taken by the way.After 40 plus minutes 3 orders came out correct and one was wrong. 10 minutes later we finally got the poached egg on the avocado toast. There was no salt or pepper on the table and trust me all the entrees needed both. The bill was over $90 and not worth half that. Let me first say that when these guys were at their smaller location, by Showplace in Naperville,it was our favorite French cafe. The Seafood crepes were incredible. Sometime during COVID they opened this Paris Bistro and as we all know good help was and still is hard to find and it reflected on some of the items on the menu. First thing we notice was most of the dishes that we were familiar with are now different. I asked our waitress if there's been any chance of staff and she said no. I never seen this waitress before so I knew she was new. BTW her service was terrible. Forgetting things, getting lost WAY over talkative and bad table manners. I understand everyone deserves an opportunity to work but during that time it was slim pickings. We invited some friends to dine with us and after bragging so much about how great this place was, I was quite embarrassed for bringing our friends here. My wife asked for a coffee and the waitress said it would be a while cause they had to brew a fresh batch. She returned in less then a minute with a half cup of coffee that she said she warmed up in the microwave. My wife got up and walked away. We really liked Jill who was the manager and my wife said Jill deserved to know this. Jill was very apologetic and gave my wife a certificate to come. Even though our experience was not the best we still tipped at 20% of our check. We left the restaurant and waited outside while my wife was still talking with Jill. The next was a surprise even for me....The waitress comes outside and approaches us and asked if there was something because we didn't leave a tip. We explained we did give her a tip and reviewed th check with her. The waitress says "oh I got confused " and walked back in. Jill advised my wife that thank you for letting her know and that she would take care of it. My wife and I returned a few weeks back hoping they settled down and was business as usual. With our luck they sat us down and guess who our waitress was going to be....... You guessed it, same lady from our last visit. We explained to the hostess that we didn't want to get served by this person. So they sat us on the opposite side of the restaurant. Sad to say service was the same. Okay do not believe any of the reviews that state this place is good. It is not. The food is extremely bland. Note I have been to my share of French restaurants - this place is not good. The service was excellent. Positives - service was good, but in hindsight they overcharged us for the soup. - duck bacon was good - marmalade was good - nice interior decor - my wife's win was pretty good - brought out bread pretty fast - nice lemonade drink - side salad with the quiche Not good - the food - overall very bland and not French restaurant worthy. -$161 for a family of four - don't mind paying for good food - but this wasn't a $161 meal more like an $80 one - cheese and meat plate $18. Felt like they had just walked over to the Aldi and put some of the meats and cheeses on a plate. - my duck dinner. OMg. It was bad. I love duck and it tasted really bad. I think it was an old duck that had been frozen. It tasted like someone who doesn't know how to make duck. Gross. - my wife's quiche - she loves quiche. This was not good. Just like everything else. Bland and flavorless. - fresh onion soup- see above bland and flavorless. Holihans and outback both do a better job. The okay - the escargot was pretty good but not worth the $12 - my daughters pasta was okay for $7 - my daughters steak. It wasn't really tasty and cooked medium even though we asked for medium rare. But I think it was originally a good piece of meat. I don't think that any French people are making that food it tasted like individuals who don't know how to cook French food who are pretending. It's like when you try to make Indian food for the first. It might look like curry but doesn't taste like it. Same with this place. Literally get zero stars for the service and food quality. Decided to sit at the bar and server wasn't familiar with menu, as a result tons of misinformation about the food. Another couple entered the restaurant after us but was serviced first and left prior to us! Now, we know that they could have given us quality service based on their experience. We asked to speak to a manger and literally waited for 20 minutes. Still waiting on the manager as I type!!! I never plan to come back and will be sure to tell friends to count them out!!! We've had to initiate the entire experience from ordering drinks, food, and now waiting to air our grievance. Will never be back. Oh and to defend the poor service and the need for a reasonable resolution, the manager compared our experience to a Chinese buffet! Disastrous restaurant : unclear with the lack of food supplies, mediocre, cooking, and terrible management how it stays in business. We were unable to order the wine and liquor we wanted because it wasn't in stock, although published on the menu. for food again much of it was out of stock. bread apparently is very expensive and was not offered, but we had to request it after we waited to be served for 2 1/2 hours. bread was a chargeable item. As for French cuisine, nothing remotely related to it appeared but food similar to sludge. read more
