The lattes were rich and robust, and my husband's hot chocolate was sweet and luscious! I ordered a savory poblano crepe and added shrimp - it was delicious - while my husband ordered a sweet one. The ambiance can be described as nothing other than...REGAL. Just grand, and beautiful - you feel like you're surrounded by luxury. Even the hot sauce is dispensed in these cute glass bottles. Let's just get the not so great part out of the way: it seems as though the owners want to create a feeling of this being a more exclusive spot, but it comes off needless & pretentious at times. Every time we go in, we're asked if we have a reservation (big sighs if we don't - even if the place is nearly empty). We don't often reserve here because there is a nonrefundable fee of I believe $10 per person, and we've never had to wait more than a few minutes. Plus, the street is full of great food options we could just move on to if needed. Now, why DO we go back: we really love the food & drinks because they're a bit more fancy than we're going to make at home. We've enjoyed everything we've ordered here, items are unique, and the presentation is just lovely on food and drinks. The place is absolutely adorable whether you sit inside or outside (one of our guests described it as American Girl Cafe for grown ups with the fancy chandeliers & gold trim) Servers are usually incredibly nice, only a couple times have they been the opposite. Saw someone mentioned only 2 savory options - that may have been only 2 they considered, but there are several more savory choices, including vegetarian. They also have seasonal specials, with lots of options kids will love, too. I get the shrimp crepe almost every time - the tastes are incredible and while it looks like a light serving, I can never finish the whole thing. I also tried an old fashioned - vintage steam powered car presentation and all. It was a delightful, well balanced version of that drink. This is a place we often bring guests visiting us in OP because it's unique. Some other favorites from the menu: chicken tinga crepe, shredded steak crepe, then Cajeta y Nuez, pistachio sweet crepes, mocktails, & cold coffee drinks. All of the portions were pretty small and the food was fairly decent quality. I had the huevos divorcés and it was good, but I don't know if I'd get it again. Others at my table got crepes and they were still hungry after their portions. We also got French toast to share and that filled us all up. Nothing tasted particularly distinct outside of a chain restaurant. It's really that aesthetic that sets the place apart. Which is fine if that's your thing! Servers were attentive and even ensured that the individual at our table with an egg allergy didn't have any in his meal. The follow up was super appreciated. On a previous trip, I tried the chicken tinga crepe. The crepe was tasty, but very small and smothered in sauce. The pizza is honestly quite similar to box pizza and the chilaquiles came out lukewarm, soggy and flavorless. The accompanying hashbrowns also didn't really have any salt. I, absolutely, would not return. If you have ANY dietary restrictions or food allergies, be very cautious! I've been plant-based, eating a vegan diet, for 9 years, and they brought me a crepe with chicken! I took a bite and knew it was chicken. I checked the menu ingredients of the "veggie crepe" to make sure that this couldn't possibly be a plant-based chicken; it's to have veggies only. I ordered the "Veggie Crepe" and my companion ordered the "Poblana Crepe"; both of these crepes are listed as vegan on their "vegan/gluten free" menu. When the food was brought out, the runner said "veggie crepe" and sat the plate in front of me and then said "poblana" and sat the plate in front of my companion. Mine turned out to be the chicken crepe and my companion's turned out to be the veggie. I waved down, who I assumed to be the host/greeter, because he was nearest when I figured I had bitten into chicken. I told him what was going on and it didn't seem like he got the gravity of the situation. It seemed like a minor thing to him. The waitress was nice and apologized; she said she had put in the correct order. I don't understand how such a thing could happen. When we were paying the bill; they acted as if they were doing a great service by removing the charge for the chicken crepe from the bill! We weren't paying for that in the first place! Neither of us eat meat or ordered it! Something else I noticed; the menu is very misleading. On the regular menu, the "Veggie Crepe" has dairy, but the same named "Veggie Crepe" is on the vegan menu with vegan cheese. So you could order the veggie and get dairy or vegan cheese without knowing, if you don't look at the regular menu. Also, they have the gluten-free and vegan items grouped in a separate menu together, which can be confusing, it almost suggests that the items are both gluten free and vegan. These should be two separate sections. I asked for the manager, who was the same person that greeted us, Jesus. I told him everything about the menu as mentioned above. Terrible staff, management, and overall experience. My boyfriend and I ordered a lot of food about six different items so this was not a case of us trying to avoid paying. When I ordered the macaroni and took one small bite, I immediately knew I didn't like it. I politely told my server I was unhappy with the dish. Instead of handling it professionally, the manager (a female) came over and asked me if I "knew how to read," saying I should have known by the menu. You can't *taste* a menu. They then told me that if I didn't pay for it, it would come out of the server's paycheck, which felt like a lie meant to pressure me. All of this over a macaroni dish. No replacement was offered, it was not taken off the bill, and no accommodation was made. After I clearly said multiple times that I did not want it, the manager told me to "take it home." That comment, especially after repeatedly explaining I didn't like the food, felt humiliating and embarrassing and honestly almost made me cry. Crepas Culichi is an upscale cafe that added food to their oak park location. I'll preface by saying their food and drinks are for a vibe not an experience. Don't have high expectations for the flavor, texture or seasoning. Your feelings will get hurt. Service is great as there is a ton of staff, they're nice, honest and knowledgeable. So customer service is a 5/5. Wait times are reasonable even during their busy/ peak moments. Portion sizes are moderate for the $13-17 dishes. I ordered the Culichi Panini and it was filling but 1) there could've been more meat, 2) they could've spaced out the meat and not just dumped it in one area and 3) the chicken could've been juicier. It was dry - I am thankful for the spicy chipotle mayo that was added. The toast was incredibly crunchy which was nice at first but then cut the roof of the inside of my mouth. The latte I ordered didn't have a single lick of vanilla inside and it was supposed to be. I might as well have ordered a coffee black and straight. I tried the beauty and the beast- it arrived with rose shaped ice cube in a coupe glass and the server poured the margarita over it. quite lovely. A little on the sweet side but delicious. My sister had the Pink Paloma, which arrived with a sugar rimmed glass and ice cubes that had flowers frozen into them. The tequila was in the glass, but a small bottle of pink grapefruit soda accompanied the glass and you could choose how much to put in with the tequila. I prefer a Paloma that uses real grapefruit juice, but it was still delicious. There are a host of typical menu, items like salads and sandwiches that you could select, but why? This is a crêpe place. The menu shows where the Mexican/French fusion really comes in. Many of the savory crêpes offered options that were heavily influenced by Mexican cuisine. I enjoyed a veggie crêpe that included peppers potatoes And a few other veggies served with avocado and green sauce on top. It was delicious.
