We love MP Kitchen! We've been coming as a family for ages. Free parking in the back and plenty of street metered parking. Spacious dining room with plenty of seating. My three younger sisters and I visited for a sister breakfast. I love the variety of skillets and savory breakfasts, as I try to eat high protein. My wife and I have been on the hunt for a great breakfast skillet and we found it. We needed to try something new and picked MPK based on the menu and Yelp photos. Was our first time dining here and we will mos def return. Our skillets were great-plentiful, well cooked, and tasty (a lot of nicely-cooked white meat chicken in these dishes). Place was busy but not at all noisy which was cooh. Service was great and our server "Moni" had an inviting and fun personality. And TBH, we both ate for just north of $30 which included the tax. Downtown Forest Park looks like a town designed like many others, with both sides of the street lined with cute shops old and new. One of these awning covered shops is Madison Park Kitchen. We made a reservation for a larger group. However, we arrived first (we stayed in downtown Chicago), found parking on the street (easy to do on a Sunday morning) and was seated pretty promptly. The rest of our party were all arriving separately and took a while to arrive. The restaurant seated us in the middle of the place and kept walking by eyeing us trying to see if our party was arriving soon. I think we waited nearly half and hour for our friends to show. That was embarrassing on our part, but was annoying for the restaurant as they were busy and we were taking up three tables. Our group finally arrived and then it took the restaurant nearly thirty minutes to take our order. They were busy and I think annoyed that our group took so long to arrive. For the most part, everyone ordered traditional breakfast items: omelets, scrambled eggs, pancakes, french toast, etc. One person ordered lunch. I ordered the waffle with bacon and sausage. It was good. Everyone thought their food was good and despite the owners speaking curtly with our table, our server was friendly and offered suggestions. It's a cute breakfast spot like any other in any other suburb. Their food was good, coffee mugs and soda cups constantly full. If we lived in the area, we'd dine here often. So if you're looking for breakfast, look no further. They got what you want, but if you're a little late, be prepared for the sideways glances and curt attitude from the owners. read more

Love this place. Tried it for the first time to meet with out-of-town friends and their children. The older man at the counter was so nice to work with and very understanding when our part was late. The servers kept coming back to check on us as we waited. The best part was the food. They have gluten free waffles and pancakes. The meals are reasonably priced. Sides were pretty expensive, though. One of my favorite diners in the area MPK as we call it is a family friendly classic. It's got everything you need in a hearty American diner- coffee, kind servers, and amazing food. A go to of mine is the Rueben. Never disappoints. I also get the eggs, ham, and hash brown plate, which for 8.50 and a side of pancakes is a pretty sweet deal. I've been going here for a little while now, so I guess I can be considered a regular at this point. I'm writing this review now because I feel like their service and quality are high and consistent. I always love finding a great traditional American breakfast place I can frequent. On this trip, I had the country fried chicken with sausage gravy, eggs, pancakes, and grits on the side. The chicken was seasoned very nicely and perfectly cooked to keep it juicy and tender. Their sausage gravy is the best and closest I have had in Chicago, matching what I ate from my southern hometown. The grits and eggs were cooked appropriately as well. Finally, the pancakes were light and fluffy, and they are a side option for most meals on the menu. Other great menu choices are biscuits and gravy, skillets, and waffles. Something about the tiny mugs they are served in, just keeps it nice and hot. A pleasing variety of flavored sweeteners. The table is preloaded with all the condiments you could think to need so few requests for essentials are needed. You get a jug of water to fill at your need, again, no wait for essentials. Now, on the note of wait, I thought my food took a bit longer than I expected. That was until my food arrived, smoky hot, carefully made with love. My waitress was sure to get the specifics of how I wanted my eggs, suggesting the perfect correction. I ordered my favorite brunch dish, a skillet. There's plenty options and even a build your own. I went with the Harvest, "all veggies", my waitress emphasized to assure I knew what I was ordering. The vegetables were chopped fine and sautéed well. Loaded with soft and crispy hash browns. 10/10. You get the choice of toast or pancakes. Normally included pancakes can taste mostly basic, just above toast and I rarely eat them all. But these pancakes, exceptional! I wish they served 3 as they are a bit thin and they are mouth watering; and I'm being greedy but it's an appropriate portion. They had a nice amount of waiters based on the amount of tables. The price is surprisingly less than what I expected to pay...leaving more room to tip! I'm going back! Get there! read more

As all diner coffees go, it was not good coffee, but sometimes you need coffee in any form. It's $3 with unlimited refills. I ordered the Bloody Mary - I was able to get it spicy. I thought it was too strong without a whole ton of depth in flavor. For my entree, I got the Harvest Skillet. I wished there was more flavor to this as well. I was disappointed that there wasn't that much vegetables in there, mostly potatoes. The online website doesn't match exactly what they offer in the restaurant. There are also two separate walls for specials, so be on the look out for those! I didn't realize there were two walls, nor did our server tell us about the specials. read more

We stumbled upon Madison Park Kitchen, and all I can say is, Wow. What a find! The large menu presented plenty of options, all of which sounded delicious. I had the Southern Benny with poached eggs, sausage patties and country gravy, and my niece got the spinach-Benedict crepes. Both were out of this world. And If you like homemade biscuits, this is the place to go. (They're self-rising, but not Southern style and not drop biscuits. Kind of unique in a flavorful and satisfying way.) Their skillet options are very creative, with hash browns topped with eggs in a metal skillet, served with a side of toast or pancakes. I thoroughly enjoyed my Harvest skillet, full of roasted veggies like bell peppers, topped with melted mozzarella and two eggs (cooked according to your preference). I highly recommend the wheat toast or the pancakes; both sides were great. Everything was so fresh and delicious. The wait can get busy on weekends, but the line moves quickly. There is metered street parking on Madison St (free on Sundays!), but you can find free parking on side streets. This is my new go-to brunch spot in the Forest Park west suburbs! read more
