Visiting from out of town and wandered by. Had the Chorizo Hash, and it was amazing. A little spicy, which I loved. The atmosphere is nice and light with booths, tables and counter seating. Service was fast, but they let me hang around and enjoy some coffee. read more

Came for breakfast while we were visiting out of town. Came around 12:30 on Saturday with my friend and only had to wait about 5 minutes for a table. Lots of options on the menu, including vegetarian and gluten free options. I went for the chilaquiles and my friend got the corn cake, both were gluten free. My dish was delicious, my friend enjoyed the corn cake, but the ham was just okay she said. Service was fine, very friendly but it took awhile for them to come to us, and also for me to get coffee refills. read more

Really cute, cozy breakfast/brunch/lunch spot in Oak Park. The staff was friendly and attentive, the food was both tasty and plentiful, and I really appreciated the fresh-squeezed juices for the mimosas! Get the chiliquiles, with salsa Verde, and a side of French toast... You won't be disappointed, or hungry! read more

Diner with options. The outside seating is comfortable, but fills up quickly in nice days. The inside seems a little cramped and jumbled, but seating looks comfortable. We sat outside an found that pleasant. We walked up and was able to get seated right away, but was full by the time we left and people were waiting. The food was as good as it looks. In looking at other tables the food all looks fresh and plentiful. We got the vegan chorizo hash, which can be made fully vegan or vegetarian. Everything exceeded expectations. read more

Stopped by Breakfast House for Sunday brunch and was pleasantly surprised to get seated right away. I had the Supreme Chorizo Hash, and my wife got the Breakfast Burrito. Both were flavorful and well-portioned. The food was not extraordinary, but it was definitely satisfying. The restaurant is clean and has a modern design. Personally, I would have preferred a place with more of a warm and cozy mom-and-pop diner vibe. We were also seated at a small table, which felt a bit cramped, especially once the food arrived. read more

Breakfast House Oak Park - Supreme Chorizo Hash, Breakfast Burrito - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Oak Park, Illinois

I made a drive all the way to Oak Park with my son because this was our weekend breakfast spot when he was a baby. It is located on a corner of downtown Oak Park, on a scenic tree lined street. It has received a major facelift, with shinny courter tops and black leather seats. The staff is fast and polite, however the chatty waitress that knows every regular by their name is gone. I ordered pancakes, my son chorizo hash. The flavor remained unchanged, I was very happy with the food. The only thing keeping me from giving this 5 stars was my first coffee mug had lipstick stain, and my plate was rubbed against another and I had a handful of cheese when I grabbed. Small but important details needing work. read more

I've been here a few times now with friends. There are some good items and also some not so great items at this place. I really enjoyed the chilaquiles and the house crepes (they're more like eggy soft pancakes) as well as their special lemon french toast and nutella french toast. My partner really enjoyed his egg white fritata. The Dieguitos I got had a hair in them, but they tasted good. The almond horchata had an odd artificial taste and the hashes are very potato heavy. Overall, this is a solid neighborhood breakfast place. read more

Full disclosure, this review is from a visit in September 2025 but Yelp just prompted me to write a review so here you go. I really, really wanted to love this place but it's simply unfit to fill the shoes of what was once Cozy Corner (RIP). The pros: friendly staff, cute interior (maybe too cute - booths, tables, and chairs are on the small side), clean bathrooms. The cons: dirty/dusty window sills, dead flies. The food... honestly, I could have made a better omelet at home, and I'm no chef. Flavorless and a little soggy. My son's oatmeal was actually pretty good, but the "fresh fruit" side was lacking in both freshness and fruit. Service was a bit slow, but the place was pretty packed so understandable. The nail in the coffin was the giant rat we tripped over as we exited onto Marion. Early afternoon, sidewalk full of people, and a massive rat shoots out from the area between their windows. Someone made a comment about "city living" but city or country, if a rat is on your property then you need to up your restaurant hygiene. Given the reviews mentioning ants and flies inside the restaurant, it tracks that rats and/or mice may also be an issue, which is concerning. I love bugs and animals, but NOT where food is prepared and eaten... Breakfast House has a lot of potential, so hopefully the owners can address some of the more serious but fixable issues... like adequate cleaning/sanitization and humane pest control.... read more

The croissant was underdone and not the expected buttery and flaky. The ham was really good and so were the potatoes. This dish would really succeed if the croissants were outsourced and they add some sort of special sauce or ingredient to the sandwich. The burrito was also bland. The space is a bit too packed. read more

Quick, friendly, with great food! Perfect place to get a good breakfast or brunch in the Oak Park area!

I love the oak park location. Food is Always fresh and amazing. But somehow every time we come in here our order gets screwed up or sent to another table. They're very apologetic but it's annoying because I watched them take my food from out of someone else's hands and still bring it to my table which was pretty gross to me read more

Love the new location. They were very busy when we walked in, but it was within their first 2 weeks of opening. The wait time wasnt bad for a Saturday early afternoon; less than 20 min wait. My husband and I ordered their hash with egg on top. It was voted as Chicago's Best - we thought it was okay. We didn't like it as much, so probably a different item on the menu will be the go for next time. My kids enjoyed their pancakes w/sausage and bacon. Soups were okay. Overall it was decent. read more

Dear, Manager and Staff of Breakfast House OakPark I am writing to share feedback regarding my first visit to your restaurant, which was unfortunately a very disappointing experience. From the moment I arrived, I did not feel welcome. I felt continually rushed to place my order, and despite verbally stating what I wanted and physically pointing it out on the menu, the waitress still entered the wrong order. I ordered the chorizo hash but was served dry potatoes and overcooked scrambled eggs. Following my visit, I reached out to your team to express my frustration. As a first-time customer, this experience was beyond horrible. I hope you will take this feedback into consideration to improve your service and communication moving forward. read more

We have breakfast here about once/month. The whimsical atmosphere is fun, the staff is amazing and the food can't be beat. We love the vegan chorizo. We don't eat red meat and it's nice to have someplace for vegan selections. The red sauce chilaquiles I had today were the best I ever had. read more

Terrible customer service. Emailed me to thank me for the feedback and my continued patronage. I guess responding to a second email 12 days after the fact is making things right. Excellent, unique food. Very friendly service. A great addition to Oak Park! Will definitely return and put in a breakfast place rotation.

I leased a place in Oak Park for August and had breakfast and lunch often at Breakfast House. Each time the service was superb and the food delicious. One time, I was meeting my son before he commuted to work. I was very early. The restaurant wasn't even open. They seated me and brought fresh coffee with graciousness and hospitality. I live in Boca Raton and wish Breakfast House was locally available. Five stars. DougR read more

Poor service, poorly cooked foods, seems they don't care about improving either. This is a prime location, and it wasted on a less than mediocre restaurant. Please greatly improve or close. Empty is better than this. read more

So glad the Breakfast House is open in Oak Park! I had the BLT Benedict and it was excellent. The food was served hot, great combination, poached eggs, bacon, avocado, tomato, spinach with a chipotle sauce instead of the usual hollandaise. My friend had the chorizo hash and loved it. The food was sooo good! I had the lemon cream French toast special and it was delish. Boyfriend had the chilaquiles verde special with potatoes. (So good) the latte I had with pistachio wasn't too sweet, just perfect. Their cocktails sounded very interesting and would love to come back again and indulge a bit! Our waitress was the sweetest and asked us how we felt about everything and if anything else was needed. Think farmhouse aesthetic. read more

The food is very reasonable for the portion sizes. I often split the house scrambler and I feel full afterwards. This place is always packed on the weekends and has quick service. Everyone who works here is really nice. The place is not too loud compared to other places. This place doesn't deserve to have low reviews. Please don't let that prevent you from visiting because this is a great establishment that deserves support from the community. read more

We have been dining at The Breakfast House for a few years at the location on Harlem. What a treat that they opened a location blocks from our house in Oak Park! The service is welcoming and efficient, the ambiance is sunny and the food is terrific! It has all the expected breakfast and lunch items but also unique dishes as well-my husband loves the chorizo hash. Great coffee and pancakes that rival the old Delia's (Oak Parkers will know what I'm talking about). Family owned. Outside seating. read more

My family and I have been ordering take out orders since the Break House Cafe opened in Oak Park, IL. I have not have an issue with this restaurant until today, July 20, 2025. Someone had the chorizo hash order and they were almost choking on the plastic that chorizo comes wrapped in. There was also an issue with under cooked chicken - the Diego's Fried Chicken. The only thing that we did was to throw away the food due to food safety risk. I called the restaurant regarding this issue so they are aware of what they are giving their customers. I was promised that a manager would returned my call today but they never did. To me, it shows a lack of moral and a lack of professionalism. I will not be returning to Breakfast House. read more

it's good, but amerikas and the waffle house are simply a lot better for the same price.
