Unfortunately, this visit was like many others, but this was their last chance with me. I ordered the links well done, and large sausage and gravy with biscuits. We also ordered bacon, pancakes, eggs, and ham. The food came out in under 2mins. Clearly an indication that it wasnt fresh. Smh... the bacon was old and dried out. The biscuits/gravy were old and the biscuits were hard. The gravy seemed like they poured it out of a jar and brought it to my table. Flavorless and not worth the $8 it cost me. The links, ham, pancakes, eggs were why they got 2 stars. I will probably never return. read more

Started my day with breakfast with my son and hubs at my son's fave local breakfast spot. I totally fell in love with this diner. Loved the old time vibe of Louie's. The diner is very clean, it has good food and the waitstaff makes you feel like family. My son walked in and a lot of the staff engaged knowing his name and him theirs. My son introduced us to a few people and they were great. Our server Michelle was friendly, engaging and was on top of everything. We ordered a small biscuits & gravy for the table to share. Pretty large diner including a lot of space at the counter. Staff was friendly and food was very affordable. I ordered the mushroom Swiss burger with fries and it was very good. Fries were a little thicker, but still crisp. Hubby had the bacon cheeseburger and his only complaint was that he wished he had ordered a double, but everything else was good! In this update, I wanted to give a 5-star review because the food is great and the establishment overall is awesome. Sadly, we went back last week for the first time in over a year because of the bad customer service we received last few visits. To our disappointment, we got that same server Michelle again and she had not improved in the least as I had sincerely hoped. This created yet another unsatisfactory experience. With deep regret, I think we have no choice but to patronize a different breakfast diner until this bad customer service situation is resolved. What a cute little diner! Place is a cute lil diner on the corner and it radiates those family vibes. Waitress's are mainly older women so it feels like your aunt or mom is taking care of you. They're super friendly and I was served quickly at the bar. I ordered 2 eggs over easy, sausage, hash browns, and white toast. Everything was cooked to exactly what I wanted and was all delicious! Since I came near closing they were starting to clean up about halfway through my meal. It was nice to see how thorough they were being cleaning behind every nook and cranny and places most people would probably be lazy about. They're old school and you get your total on the order slip and you take it to the cashier. Make sure you have cash on you for tip or I believe you can ask them to add it on when they ring you up. read more

I called order in for a sausage bacon egg and cheese sandwich at 7:40 am I was told it would be ready in 10 minutes. I arrived there at 8:20 and my food wasn't ready and to top it off no one in the restaurant recalled talking to me on the phone even after I showed them my recent call history showing their phone number. read more

I adore small restaurants like Louie's. Very friendly staff, great service, and great breakfast food. I felt like I was at my aunt's house. Our waitress was chatty, kept cracking jokes and always made sure we were good and didn't need anything else. I wish I'd caught her name because she was bomb, but I did notice most staff were the same way with the other patrons. You could tell they all love what they do which was pretty awesome. I'm not in Forest Park often for breakfast but when I am again, this will be my go to. read more

I used to frequent this place a lot years ago. Was looking for a last minute place to have breakfast and thought of Louie's. The food was as good as I remembered. We ordered several breakfast items and a chicken philly to-go. We were not disappointed at all. This place is a diner and has the vibe of one. It is typically very busy on Saturday and Sunday mornings. I was very happy that we didn't have to wait too long today. The wait staff is pretty friendly and the service is fast. We went here for breakfast. The food was really good and cooked perfectly. They had so many options for breakfast and lunch. They have a variety turkey options for breakfast, bacon, sausage patties and links. The pancakes are really good with hot syrup. I had a veggie with avocado skillet with hash browns, it was hearty and delicious. My husband had scrambled eggs, hash browns, turkey sausage patties, and hash browns. Eggs were cooked perfectly. Stopped in here on the recommendation of a local foodie, and I couldn't have been more pleased. Service was fast and friendly; the restaurant was your classic clean, no-frills old school diner; but the food was the Star! These fluffy, flavorful, rich pancakes are worth a weekly visit. The food is good. My family & I frequently dine in this cozy spot after church services. We have become regulars as we run into other locals and share our weekly updates with the staff (who are wonderful!). NICHOLAS is a shining light. We look for the warmth he gives us. Sad to say I've had my last breakfast at Louie's. I've been going there with my friend for years. The prices have been skyrocketing, but I can't blame them for that. However the quality has been on decline and that I won't accept. I was served a corned beef hash omelette that was so small and lacking of any flavour, I gave up after eating only half of it. And for $13.00. I like the place and the staff, but there's plenty of other breakfast restaurants around. I hope Louie's improves their quality. If they don't, there will inevitably be more stories like mine. read more

Food is good. Service is questionable. Went in today because I do like their hot beef sandwiches. Was seated and waited... waited... a couple comes in after me and they were seated. Within mins the waitress approached them and asked what they wanted. I'm still waiting. No big deal. I just left and went down the street to sub tender. Maybe next time. Maybe not. Friendly service and fresh, generously portioned omelettes. The spinach & cheese omelette is deliciously done and comes with a side of toast and side of fresh fruit. Not just melons either- there were fresh strawberries and grapes, too. It is a bright and tidy space but I don't like how closely packed some of the tables are. Our table was oddly connected to another party so it was like we were all sharing a meal. That might work in some settings but not a neighborhood diner. The tap water also tasted odd so next time I'll order juice or a coke. I like how they have communal newspapers and the lady at the hostess counter was very nice. read more

Solid option for breakfast - I'm giving this place a generous four star rating - it's really a 3.5. Here's the scoop on Chez Louie's... The thing I noticed on the menu about their eggs that sets them apart in a not so good kinda way is that when most places these days offer three eggs, Louie's gives ya two. Restaurants buy these by the gross and they're not mega-expensive, so two eggs is a little stingy to me - especially when the prices are at or above what I see at peer restaurants. I went there hoping to see a chicken fried steak on the menu, but alas there was none. So I opted for Corned Beef Hash and eggs. Canned variety of CBH but that was OK as I was expecting that. The breakfast was good - but nothing over the top. As described thus far, it's clearly a three star place at best. But what pushed it up was the friendliness of the staff. This was my first visit to the place - hard to believe I'd never tried it before after living in the area off and on for so many years. As I was walking past the front, one of the servers waived and offered a friendly smile. Once inside, Nancy took and delivered my order amidst some congenial conversations. I've said it before and I'll say it again - anybody can make decent food these days, but outgoing employees are fewer and farther between. Louie's is a classic example - I wouldn't go back for the food alone as there are many places that serve as good if not better grub. read more

Small, busy but friendly diner. We took our granddaughter for breakfast and on a busy Sunday morning, were able to get seated quicker than expected. The eggs Benedict I had was super delicious as it had a nice piece of their signature ham under the perfectly cooked eggs and hollandaise sauce. My granddaughters mouse pancakes were perfect for her. I would first like to start this review by saying I do not have any complaints about the food. It was perfectly good diner food and it satisfied what we were looking for. However, we started our dining experience after quite a rude encounter with the hostess - I believe her name was Ellen - which made me uncomfortable the entire time we were there. When we first arrived, the hostess took my name and number and said it would be about a 20 minute wait and that she would call when our table was ready, so I made sure to turn my ringer on and on vibrate. I was watching my phone carefully for a call but I forgot I had a function turned on that would silence calls immediately from numbers I did not know (to protect myself from spam calls). I noticed the silenced call notification on my phone immediately and called the restaurant back but the line was busy so we just walked in. The hostess first confirmed who I was and then said to me, "I told you to keep your phone on. I know how your generation works with always texting and never answering phone calls." When I tried to explain what happened, she dismissed me quickly by saying "your table is over there." I noticed later that she also left a pretty short voicemail with me that said, "if you're unable to come, we will give your table away. Bye" Our waitress Nancy was perfectly friendly with us and another employee - Nick - who refilled our drinks was a delight. He was very attentive and funny. I think it is also important to mention that we noticed the restaurant was fairly busy and when we went back to the front desk to pay, the hostess was noticeably agitated and stressed with how packed it was. Overall, the food was good and most of the workers were pleasant. But because of our experience with the hostess, we will not be back. read more

Louie's Love! I liked this place so much that I patronized them on two consecutive days. Service is amazing. The cashier is very personable and consistently greets every patron. My take out order included all condiments and napkins. It was also neatly wrapped and packaged. Counter service was also fabulous. The waitress was attentive and highly visible. There's no surprise it has been around for 16 years and has since expanded. My experience and packed house at noon on Saturday was reflective of how this place fairs to other diners in the area. What should you order? Doubt you can go wrong. I have tried items on both the lunch and breakfast menu and both were delicious. Lunch Patty Melt - 5 stars***perfect! French Fries - 3 stars Breakfast Grits- 5 stars *** almost as good as much grandmother's. Creamy, buttery and piping hot. Bacon- 5 stars; flavorful with no grease Eggs - 5 stars; ordered over medium and they were yummy Sausage links - 3 stars; decent but I could do without them and only had them because it came with the order. WOW. This place is truly amazing! The food was amazing (and I'll explain) but I think what was more impressive was the staff. It felt like everyone was one big family. The host knew people by their name and took time to really get to know people. She was very happy and made the initial experience very pleasant. The wait staff was quick and friendly and helped us with menu questions. It was nice to see a place where they cared about the entire dining experience. Now the food. The menu is huge and you can get breakfast or lunch at any time of the day. After much debate I went with the club wrap and my boyfriend the southern Benedict. I choose the deluxe version so I could have some fries and I would recommend it! The proportion is big and worth the extra charge for fries. And the gravy on the southern Benedict was really good. Overall very impressed and each dish that passed us on their way to tables looked amazing. read more

This is such a local place - the waitresses are so upbeat, know everyone, and make sure everyone is attended to. Their menu is ridiculously extensive. So many options, but we ended up getting breakfast special 1 and 2. Honestly creeped out by how FAST the food came out. Their French toast is great! Everything else was your typical diner food (but good!) They give you the slip for the check once they bring out the food, and you pay at the front when you're ready. read more
