A step back in time. I have lived a block away from this joint for about half a decade until one day I decided to try it. From the outside it doesn't look like much. But take a step inside and you're back in an 80s diner. This place reminds you of the one that got away and all the ones that came afterwards, with the 80s music playing in the back. The food is nothing short of astounding. They have everything from burgers to turkey to lemon pound cake. And everything is finger licking good. OK so based on the reviews of the place I had an open mind when we got there it was really busy always a good sign, there was a lot of the blue-collar type vehicles in the parking lot tow trucks UPS etc. so right then and there I knew this was going to be a good place. Generally when you see trains been working men that sort of thing in the parking lot usually points to recently priced and fast and that's what it was but to boot it had really good food. My wife enjoyed the corn beef hash with Texas toast and scrambled eggs with cheesy hashbrowns while I had the keto friendly all meat omelette with no potatoes and no toast. The hash browns while looking good and they were hot yes didn't live up to The expectation as my wife order them with cheese and it was simply a slice of processed American cheese on top of the potatoes not even melted. That said she enjoyed her corn beef hash it was cooked properly. Mama it was served hot fresh tasting in good it was loaded with ham and sausage and bacon so I was quite happy. The negatives. I love coffee I thought the coffee was OK, generally speaking coffee can make or break a restaurant and it broke it for me unfortunately because I did not find the coffee good in fact when Put the creamer it wasn't half-and-half it was that cheap corn syrup crap that pretends to be cream or half-and-half but isn't and it's laced with horrible carbohydrates and sweeteners. and this day and age it's quite annoying to still find places that don't use half-and-half, and go the cheap route and use that garbage, when you charged $2.50 for a cuppa coffee you better damn well sure have half-and-half for me. So what do you do when you're in Cicero and you want some breakfast? Duh, go to the Steak N Egger. I have never heard of this place before and figured hey...I like steak....I like eggs, lets go! This place looked like one of those typical diners where you kind of have an idea of what you're going to get without looking at the menu and you know that whatever you order won't be that bad because frankly you can't really screw it up. Whenever my wife and I try a new breakfast place we usually order more food then we can eat and we order a couple of dishes as a measure to how good the cook is. The dishes also help us determine if we will ever be back again. We got biscuits and gravy, ham and cheese omelet and skirt steak and eggs (Mexican style, wtf is Mexican style? chopped up skirt steak with tomatoes, green peppers, onions). The biscuits and gravy is what brings us back. It was done pretty well and you get quite a few biscuits. The ham and cheese omelet was ok, they used honey ham and it made everything too sweet. I had the skirt steak and eggs, and that was pretty good. Too bad they don't accept credit cards and their ATM machine is busted. Overall, decent place for breakfast for a cheap price. read more

Some coworkers and I stopped in for lunch. The building looks like an old school log cabin, the kind of place pioneers would stop in after a long day of chopping trees and sifting for gold. The food is your typical diner food. Most everything is prepared on a flattop grill. The food is a little greasy and a little salty. The kind of food you need after a long night of drinking. For lunch I had the patty melt and onion rings. The rye was toasted nicely on the grill dripping with a little too much grease for my taste but not too much that it made the bread soggy. The burger was medium-well (did not ask how I would like it prepared). Onions were flavorful and the onion rings were crispy. The place is very simple inside kitschy little knick knacks everywhere in a diner that looks like the last update was in the late 70's. All in all for less than $10 it was decent, I think we would all head back for another go around in the future. read more

It is what it is: a 24 greasy spoon that "caters" to truckers and drunk people. Their coffee is awesome diner coffee, their eggs are good and the food is cheap. I don't love it, but if you're in Berwyn or surrounding area, it's a perfect place to sop up the booze at 4am. read more

I've only been to this place once. So, I'll try my best to say how my experience was. My old classmate and I had just finished a final at Morton College in the morning. I told him we should get some good breakfast as we head home. We go to this place and I liked the way the place was built. Looked like a typical diner. Once we orders our food, not only were our dishes good but we're also decently priced. It sucks that I've never been there before or after my first time. Plus, there aren't places like this where I live at now (I live a bit far west in the suburbs). I always thought of this place as a good quick stop for people who are hungry. It being open 24 hours is a huge advantage. If I ever visit Cicero or any part of Chicago, and I see the sign of this restaurant, I'll stop in. read more

There are a few of these places around and for some reason Cicero has their fare share. Awful greasy food that only down and out people would go to. These places look like they have been around since the depression. The food is pretty nasty and the service is lousy. I can't imagine that anyone would make this their first place to go. basically it survives like White Castle does becuase other places are closed. read more

Moved out of the neighborhood like 20 years ago.Place is still the same.Always hits the spot.Any place that has Yucateco hot sauce on the counter is ok with me.Usually get the T bone steak and eggs w/pancakes.Great place to eat after the bars and everything is closed.Sure beats Burger King!!!!
