This is the best little hole in the wall diner I have found in a while. I travel frequently for work, so I eat out a lot. Whenever I'm in Countryside, I do what I can to stop here. Food is amazing, servers are awesome, everything is top notch. The Louie is my favorite, but everything I've ever had is good.

Attached to a bowling alley, Country Cup is like some sort of throw back. Old school small diner feel, with a cook who's likely some descendant of the original owner. You could taste it in the food. One of those kind of cooks that is capable of holding down the grill and other devices in the kitchen, and engage with the customers, or whatever regular he hasn't caught up with in a few days. I've witnessed a decline of these kind of places over the years, and that's pretty sad. Anyway, back to the food. The flow of the meal was very old school. The wife ordered her go to breakfast plate with all the basics, and all looked made with care, and was enjoyed.. I got Grecian style chicken, which included a potato (browns w/cheese please!) and a dinner salad. Bonus super extra stars had their blue cheese dressing been house made, but these type of places really don't do that kind of thing in house, especially one this small. That's cool. Ken's Steak House dressing made up for it! Chicken was executed like a Greek sage in the kitchen. They nailed the flavors and textures like the best I've ever had. I have to have this again.

Small diner with lots of character and a long menu. Fiddle Faddle Sandwich was great.

Walking in the door, we felt at home and welcomed. We were seated by the owner who was a kind looking man who could probably have a sharp tongue. Our waitress who has been here for 32 years made me feel like I was sitting at her breakfast table in her kitchen. She was the sweetest lady I've met in the greater Chicago area. The food was the epitome of comfort food. We enjoyed the skillet bowl. The steak was AMAZING!!!!!!!! The restaurants as located in a bowling alley but don't let that fool you, the food, staff and comfort level was Michelin Four Star! Would definitely travel from Sacramento back here.

I drove to this restaurant after seeing it was open 24 hours on Yelp. Got there 15 minutes late, but they were still finishing orders. So, they were awesome enough to take my order. I had the pork chops dinner, and it was wonderfully juicy. It was exactly what I needed. The owner has been there almost 52 years. The food is great. The service goes above and beyond. I hope everyone tries this place (during their open hours). ;-)

Give me a home, where the....oh, wait. Give me a diner, on Route 66, and I'll be one happy camper. In a distance suburb of Chicago, the town of Countryside, is the 66 exit route from the Loop, and on it, inside a bowling alley, with little signage to let you know it's there, is the Country Cup dinner, with all of 10 tables, a counter for 8, and on this shift, about 7 employees hustling to serve the jammed packed café. Serving a full menu 24/7, I stopped in for a corned beef, changed my mind, and went with a specialty unique to Chicago (as far as I am concerned), the "olive burger", also referred to as the "Queen Burger" in other locales. I've written about other stops along Route 66 in the past. Everybody knows Chicago is a great hot dog town, but it's a great burger town, as well, with one of the most (in)famous being the Billy Goat Tavern, underneath the Wrigley Building on Michigan Avenue. The Billy Goat was perfectly poised between two rival newspaper buildings, the Trib and the Sun Times, and was where a lot of the reporters used to hang out regularly. But the Billygoat became known to the rest of America through John Belushi's SNL skit, where the punchline was "cheezbooger, cheezbooger, no coke, pepsi", which pretty much describes the 'Goat as it remains today. Back at the Country Cup, the coffee is fresh and plentiful, the burger was a sizzling food service patty, and the rings were hot and greasy. And the olives? They were just fine. If you ever find yourself in need of a nosh in this part of Chicago, check out the Country Cup anytime of day or nite. If you're a fan of surface streets, stay on the original Route 66 from downtown Chicago to the Cup.... Just about 20 miles, take Adams out of downtown, to Ogden Avenue, and roll out there 16 miles or so to Joliet Road.

Everything is delicious affordable, and the quality and quantity are immense. You really feel like you're going into your family's home with greetings by the wonderfully attentive and caring manager Ryan, hostesses and wait staff like Lupe and Phil the best coffee refiller & more. Plentiful tables amidst a welcoming, comfortable decor. Bathrooms are clean, fresh & well maintained-always a good sign. I truly give honest reviews, so allow me to share that this time only, the pork chops were a little overly done, but still delicious and juicy on the inside. But did that stop me from ordering to go the pork chops special? Heck no!

My nephew recommended we come to Tony's, and I could not thank him enough as we sat there eating great food served by such a friendly staff. Every person we spoke to was Chicago friendly, which is perfect in my books. Orders came to the table quickly, correct, piping hot and delicious! My niece got the Mickey Mouse pancakes and sausage, a family classic, which were fluffy and delicious. HUGE pancakes and crispy sausage links! My sister got the breaded pork tenderloin and loved every bit! The broccoli soup was plain and needed a little excitement, but the pork itself was crispy and well cooked! HUGE portion! WOW! My nephew for the lumberjack platter which was a TON of food. A TON. WILD. Just HUGE serving! The French toast was special; it almost tastes like a cinnamon roll cake. Nice and crispy rounds and soft in the middle. A nice ham steak, bacon, sausage, eggs, and joy. He didn't finish the entire plate but enjoyed every single bite! I got the vegetarian skillet with bacon - I know, I know. It was a long night before this meal, and I needed salt and bacon but wanted all the veggies. What a TREAT! The hash browns were crispy and delicious, not greasy at all which I loved and appreciated, and TONS of veggies. I couldn't finish the entire skillet, but also I happily finished it about 2H later. I just love how I didn't feel heavy after the meal - too full or bogged down by grease. Every single bite was delicious, and I legit cannot wait to go back. The restaurant was busy but had plenty of seating. There were some ants under the table, but they quickly took care of them, and TBH, if I was an ant I'd be in that restaurant too finding food joy. No judgement. Restaurant was clean and service was great! I will happily come back any time, any day, to Tony's. Great people, great food, huge portions, and a great experience. Stop on by!

It's a damned paradox, I tell you! How can you find an…read moreout-of-the-way place in the middle of a dense urban area? Yet here in the middle of a decidedly unattractive industrial park, Is a handsome restaurant. There has to be a story as to why this restaurant was built in this particular location, but I don't really want to know the details. This is Serbian cuisine. I'm not aware of a particularly dense Serbian population In the vicinity of this restaurant, But there are two more Serbian restaurants not far away on Ogden Avenue. I like Serbian cuisine. Charcoal broiled meats, seasoned well, Unique salads, and some really tasty cheese applications. It's hard to make a choice because everything on the menu looks really good. One of the fellows we were dining with had been to this place before and had some suggestions. The first was "Shopska" salad. Very close to a Greek "Horiatiki" or "Village" Salad. Not one leaf of lettuce, rather, tomatoes, cucumbers and onions; chopped small, with a light vinaigrette, and a healthy portion of crumbled feta cheese on top. It was a nice, bright prelude to the rich meats that were to follow. My usual rundown is to order the house specialty in a restaurant I've never been to, which in this case would be Cevaps-Grilled spiced ground beef. I happen to love Cevapcici, but I've had them before, And opted to go somewhere else on the menu. I swung with the "Leskovacki Djevrek". (Well, wouldn't you?) The menu says it's a ground beef ring stuffed with bacon and provolone cheese, grilled with onions and Urnebes. Okay, ground beef, bacon, provolone cheese, and onions, I'm in! But...Exactly what are Urnebes? The dish arrived, and it didn't look like anything I had ever had before. My first impression is that it had been cooked in a Jell-O mould pan, with a mound of pink something in the middle. (which I soon learned were the "Urnebes"). Not long after that, I realized I had become a keen fan of Urnebes, which turned out to be a very tasty mix of cheese, peppers, and spices. The Leskovacki Djevrek was a delicious ring of grilled ground beef, wonderfully seasoned, on a bed of grilled onions with chunks of good bacon interspersed. There were small dollops of provolone atop the ring. Some tasty Roast Veggies on the side. The dish was absolutely fabulous. Right up my alley. Two of the other fellows had "Karadjordjeva Snicia" (and why not?) This was a roll of Pork Tenderloin, stuffed with Cheese, lightly breaded and fried. This looked fabulous. The gents said it was. None of this stuff turned out to be exotic eats, but it was just different enough to be very, very interesting. I must mention the baskets of bread they brought out at the beginning. They were round, puffy loaves, with an airy crumb, A bit larger than a Jelly Bismarck. A bottle of olive oil was on the table, I dosed my bread with it. Yum! This is definitely stick to your ribs fare, although I didn't feel as if I swallowed a bowling ball as I was leaving. Service was attentive and cordial, The waitress was knowledgeable about the dishes, which helped. The room had a masculine vibe to it, in fact, besides the waitress, there were no other women there that night. Then again, the restaurant is smack dab in the middle of an industrial area. There were no boutiques or nail salons anywhere nearby, LOL! If you want to try something different but are a bit squeamish about possible unfamiliar foodstuffs, don't worry about this place. These are foods you know and love, just put together a little bit differently. You might vibrate a little on the way in because the surroundings definitely don't look like there should be a decent restaurant in the middle of it. Stay the course; it's worth it. A totally enjoyable feed and worthy of five...

After 10 minutes, I got a text saying it could not make my reservation. That's because Patti's doesn't take reservations for parties of four. Something I only found out about by calling the restaurant. So unless you are a large group, walking in is best. Breakfast will cost you between $15-$20 to start, but that's because the portions are huge. My brother-in-law ordered the double blueberry pancakes, and they were the size of the plate! I had the Outstanding Oatmeal which came with pecans, craisins and low-fat yogurt. It was also supposed to come with brown sugar and multigrain toast, but they forgot mine. Which was ok, because the oatmeal was extremely tasty and filling enough without them. Most seating is inside, but there are 3 small tables on the outside patio as well. Gluten free pancakes, waffles and french toast are available. Classic coffee and juices are standard, but they also offer mimosas. Patti's is perfect for those with big appetites.
