Food looked amazing but as soon as I was about to eat my food I noticed lots of white hairs on my sausages so I picked it off then noticed it was on my French toast went back to get a replacement an the lady told me it was because of a cheap towel.. so I believed her an as soon as I was going to eat round two this time I had a black shard of hair plus more white hairs not as much but white hairs in my food. I'll be real food looked amazing but you have to wear gloves an hair nets because you're handling people you don't know food. Waitress was nice though. Eat at your own discretion. read more

This is the first 5 star review I've left in the summit area in a long time. I don't come here often, although have been coming here for years. The food isn't going to blow you away, BUT the food is consistent/priced fairly and the staff is very welcoming. I work very early in the morning and if I do go here, I get a burger. The burger itself is very good, juicy and a decent size. The fried that come with it are extremely underrated and well deserving of praise. The breakfast itself is great too, from the omelette to the biscuits and gravy, there is something here for everyone. read more

Coked out waitress complained we came in an hour before they closed, then proceeded to make a drug deal in the entrance way. I witnessed this when I was in the gambling room cashing out my ticket. The waitress who she called her "boyfriend" (who looked twenty something years younger than her) started arguing and he left and came back twice. The waitress said her "boyfriend" was drunk and asked us to leave and made us put our food in to-go boxes because her "boyfried / coke dealer" was acting crazy. We left and the "boyfriend" opened his car door and watched us leave 1/13/25. My girlfriend was scared for her life. Food was ok.... Food was pretty good. Someone picked up our tab, so I bought a gentleman sitting at the counter his lunch.

Super cheap got steak and mashed potatoes and green beans and bread and salad for $15. However, the potatoes and everything was a little less than warm. Wish it came out hot it would had been much better. The green beans were very frozen bean like and the salad Italian dressing was super bland. The steak was good but something I could had easily cooked at home myself, not outstanding. The restaurant is very clean and pretty. The staff were nice but talked ALOT. I'm not really someone who likes small talk lol but she was nice. If I come back again I'd probably try the pancakes and get steak again. Thanks for the food. read more

There isn't much that can be said about this place except that it's the closest thing I can get to Waffle House, in the north! Despite how people may feel, they are the perfect place for breakfast comfort food and they are super reasonable. I always get a big breakfast from them that includes a waffle (or pancakes), hash browns, eggs, toast, and grits...... and Orange juice in a cup that may or may not be the cleanest. Pretty good spot! Review is for a to-go order. I got the corned beef hash and eggs. Hash was nothing special--definitely wasn't homemade, but it was still good! Eggs were perfect and the hash browns were really tasty. My boyfriend got the steak and eggs, and the steak tasted like it was well past its freshness date and quite fatty. They opened this location in January. Cheto, Michelle and Veronica (I came in near shift change) were all very friendly for my late breakfast, around 2pm. I found everything needed salt n pepper to taste, but then everything shined through. I got my belly filled and left with half my steak, a third of the potatoes, (I'll mix those in with some scrambled eggs tomorrow) a biscuit, ($1 surcharge) and a cup of sausage gravy. ($.50 surcharge) Bottomless cup of coffee without asking too. I had just learned of S n E recently and enjoyed my first visit in McCook too. Great to have 24/7 diner in this area. I had been planning a breakfast in the area some 33 hours ago. There just isn't a bad time of the day to enjoy breakfast. I love they still offer a counter, so many places have fazed them out. Great retro diner feel is always a plus for me. Price point is on target too. read more

This restaurant spot has gone through many businesses over the last ten years with months or years of being closed in between. I'd tried them all and was never impressed enough to return a second time. What a pleasant change here at Steak N Egger! Having been to other Steak N Eggers I knew we'd get a great value for the money. This spot not only provides value it's also beautiful, shiny, and new. All the previous businesses never invested a great deal in this building but that's all changed with the Steak N Egger folks. We ordered some soda and iced tea to start. Free refills but at just $1.40. The menu isn't huge but for a menu available 24 hours a day it offers something for everyone. Next we ordered the Steak N Stack (an average breakfast steak, two eggs, and three griddle cakes containing corn meal) and a BLT sandwich with fries. The griddle cakes were outstanding, and the BLT was so packed full of ingredients that half had to be taken home. The steak was a typical cheap breakfast steak but for the price it was surely acceptable. The waitress was fast and continually attentive. She entered the order on her tablet and it immediately printed out at the cooking station. Thus the food was ready pretty fast as well. Checkout was very simple too with having all new modern equipment. The restroom was spotless. They clearly want to keep everything looking new for a while. The facility also has a live video gaming (21+) area with five machines. But it seems every food place in suburbia has them now. I can't think the odds are all that good. This will be my Steak N Egger going forward. Great experience. read more

I loved this traditional style diner. It is the real deal. Authentic. The decor was charming. First Keep in mind that I am originally an East Coast girl. My family (grandparents) use to take me to diners from Philadelphia, Jersey and in New York. This brought back so many memories. Secondly, this was about the cleanest place I've been to in ages. Everything looked so polished and sterile. As you know a traditional dinner like this is small and narrow. Even with their cramped quarters they had everything in placed and organized. You could see clear back into the kitchen where they were cooking. Spotless. I sat at the bar/counter to dine. There I could see how efficient the place ran. 2 ladies very nice ladies were there. One worked the bar and they other the table area. There was a young adult male doing dishes I presume. I could only see the dirty dishes going below the counter and his soapy wrist pulling out the clean ones. There were 2 cooks bringing out orders in about 10 -15 minutes tops. There was one man who was orchestrating it all. This I was the owner I found out later. I went to the bathroom; and it too was the cleanest one I think I have ever seen. Lastly, the food was delicious and ample. Large amounts but not do much that you would waste it. I was there for breakfast and had the "Steak Stake". This is steak, eggs and pancakes. They had a variety of many things to choose from. Best of all it was very affordable. Great prices. I think my order, which included a large orange juice, came to $10. Oh I forgot to mention they had a small gaming area (casino) tucked away and enclosed off in a corner. Everyone treated me pleasantly. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at my experience. The food is good for a diner and everything is quite cheap. My husband ordered steak and eggs and it was a good cut of meat and pretty big. I like this Summit location very much. It's clean. Very, very clean. They serve, tasty, good quality, and often freshly made (e.g. Hash Browns) food. No worries who's in the kitchen cooking, all the cooks are good. And the food that comes out, is always consistently prepared. No surprises. No "burnt toast". What was on your plate last week, will look the same the next. The prices are fair. Great actually, considering the quality, and downright cheap when you look at the size of some of their dishes. The food comes out of the kitchen fast. And although service can be spotty at times, few complain. The staff is cheerful, and never carry around a bad attitude. So, the place is always relaxed. And, if need be, "getting up to get it" so to speak, isn't frowned upon. Steak "n Egger is a popular Chicagoland chain restaurant. The waitstaff are rude old ladies. Both blonde, one fat one skinny. One named deb. They LOUDLY talked bad about almost every customer in the room. They roll their eyes when people are ordering. They won't even greet you or give you a "I'll be with you in one second", they literally just make you SIT THERE AND WAIT WITH NO MENU NO WATER, until they're ready. Even if the place is empty they do this to you. They make you wait til their hot flash menopause passes. The only tip they deserve is to get laid. The food is good, but you instantly forget about how good the food was because all you can think about is how mad you are when you leave the joint. They're soooo rude. They ruin you appetite to the point where you just want to walk out before the food even arrives. If you're going to try the food, just call it in and eat at home, you'll enjoy it more that way. Star was our server today, our 1st time here, she provided excellent service, we had a T-Bone steak and eggs, an open face beef sandwich and some biscuits and gravy, everything was great, the only thing I did not like was the way the owner kept giving me really mean looks, that will not cut it with new customers, I served on the Fire and Police Dept for years in town, maybe he just doesn't like one of the two occupations, oddly enough, I heard he was a cop nearby from McCook, so not sure why we got the evil eye from him read more
