I enjoyed my meal. I was greeted as soon as I entered the restaurant. My waitress Donna seemed to be one of two waitress waiting tables. She moved fast but I felt bad for her. The bus/water boy was very polite. He asked if I was done before removing any dish from my table. I noticed the cashier/hostess seemed to know a lot of the diners. I loved the interaction. There was a family there enjoying a meal and no one was upset about the childrens laughter. I would definitely return. As a matter of fact, I left my payment in my car. All the stars because our server, Michelle, was the friendliest, kindest server. She took the time to talk to us and comment on the kids. She made our kiddos Mickey and Minnie pancakes extra special and brought out sprinkles that they could decorate their pancakes with. My partner and I LOVE Maple N Jams, they are fast, consistent, and delicious! We go almost every weekend sometimes twice a week.

Better than last visit though there was a slight stench of something moist in the air. Not sure if sewer, but food was good. Server was on point for most part except when asking for take out containers; took a bit. Water guy didn't speak though he spoke to other tables. We ordered the omelette and breakfast sandwich and enjoyed the breakfast sandwich the most. It was loaded with turkey bacon and cooked nicely. The omelette was alright while the potatoes carried the meal. The pancakes were too crispy on the outside and not just on the edges so it gave it a weird dry texture. We didn't finish those. But I'd return any day for a breakfast sandwich. It was also really hot inside the restaurant. Idk if it was bc it was early morning but it was almost unbearable. read more

I had been attempting to visit Maple N Jams Cafe during the family's annual day after Thanksgiving brunch, but I'm glad I wait because we have a party of eight, this location doesn't take reservations, and there's definitely a 20-minute wait. The waitresses are super-friendly and knows the local return visitors.  The hubby had the buttermilk pancakes with a build your own omelette, a healthy side of hashbrowns and pancakes.  His omelette included chicken, chorizo, mushrooms and jalapenos.  I was a little adventurous and got the House Skillet and Stuffed Strawberry French Toast. Well maybe I was too adventurous because the french toast had an option of using glazed strawberries and usually that is too sticky and thick with cornstarch and I'm not a fan, but without it, the french toast is pretty dry.  That's okay, I took them home and used some authentic strawberry syrup which made this dish so much better.  The skillet had a great savory flavor too, the eggs were fluffy and the all the ingredients melded so well together!  This restaurant definitely has something going here! :-) read more

The food was as amazing as other Yelpers have indicated. The ambience is great for breakfast or lunch and the service is awesome. In fact, the service is the reason for my 5 stars. The food came out cold and I had to send the potatoes back twice however, our server was on top of her game (Vickie)! My wife had the banana foster French toast. The description was correct when it described this as decadent. Me on the other hand, my breakfast was basic (personal choice) eggs, house potatoes and sausage. Hmmm, the sausage was better than normal and Vickie did not mislead me by recommending the sausage. You should not leave this place hungry because the portions are great! The vibe is laid-back, the space is cool, and on the surface, it feels like a place that cares about its customers. But what I experienced? Tells me otherwise. Here's the story: After a night of yelling lyrics at the Post Malone and Jelly Roll concert at Wrigley (Go White Sox), I woke up hurting. I needed grease, coffee, and good vibes! So I took my girlfriend to Maple & Jams, planning to eat and work a bit. I ordered the country fried chicken -- 7/10, notes to come. My girlfriend ordered the skirt steak. We were vibing... until the waitress suddenly paused and dropped the phrase: "Just so you know, the skirt steak is market price." Now hold up. Since when is skirt steak being traded like lobster or gold bars? At brunch? At a breakfast spot and why did she feel the need to warn us?! So my girlfriend asks, "Well, what's the market price?" The waitress -- almost shocked we were still down -- blurts out $39.99. My girl looked at me like what?! But the waitress's whole energy -- nervous, almost apologetic -- blurts out $39.99, that told me everything I needed to know. She wasn't the problem. This is clearly something they've been told to say. And you can tell she's probably had to deal with people flipping out about this before. We kept eating, but something didn't sit right. I eventually looked up from my laptop and asked my girl, what she say the price was?! She repeated it: $39.99. I almost choked. I googled skirt steak brunch prices out of curiosity -- average is $14.99-$18.99, maybe $25 max at a fancy spot. This wasn't that. This wasn't a luxury dining experience. This was a $40 brunch trap disguised as "market value." Here's where it gets worse. When we finished and asked for the receipt? They didn't even give us an itemized bill. Just a total. No breakdown, no prices, no transparency. That's when it really hit me -- not only was I overcharged, but I wasn't even given the chance to review or question it. Let's be clear: That's stealing. Slapping the term market price on a random breakfast item and using it to charge steakhouse prices without warning? That's not trendy, it's deceptive. And it's a real shame. Because the food is good. The atmosphere is great. And it feels like a place built on care and hospitality. But when you see shady practices like this, it sends a clear message: They care more about squeezing a few extra dollars out of your pocket than treating customers with honesty. So to anyone thinking of eating here -- enjoy the food, but ask about pricing upfront. Especially if the words "market price" come up. So warming and inviting, top notch service as our waitress remembered our son n laws past visit and what he ordered and it was the same thing he had the last time. Loves it. Was so sweet to our sweet granddaughter it was touching. Anyway the food is even better. I had the Healthy Omelet with fruit and wheat toast. Husband had a half BLT and Soup. Okay so I wish we could give half stars. Because this is really a 4.5 rating but it's the holiday season so I rounded up. This is a very cute and unexpected spot in a mini strip mall. First of all, everyone was so kind. From the host to the server to the food runners and bussers. Truly a well oiled machine. Plenty of choices on the menu, from classic omelettes to red velvet French toast. I had the strip steak and eggs and it was truly 1/4 of a cow . The portions are huge and the food comes out fast. The ONLY reason I took off half a star is because the steak, while cooked expertly, lacked seasoning. I'm sure it is so ppl can season to their killing or add A1. However, I'm not an A1 girl and I want my steak off the grill thoughtfully seasoned. Other than that, I will be back when I'm on the Southwest side of Chicago. read more

We were staying at the Hilton in Oak Lawn for a 80th birthday celebration and had family visiting from out of state as well. Looking for something beyond the usual chain restaurants, I came across Maple N Jams Cafe based on its positive reviews. Since it was the Monday after Thanksgiving, it wasn't overly crowded, but there was still a good amount of traffic, had to wait a few for someone to pull out of small parking lot in strip mall. We had a party of seven and were seated immediately, though the table was a bit tight, we managed just fine. Both the service and food were outstanding--easily a 10/10. We ordered a mix of traditional breakfast items, skillets, pancakes, crepes, and French toast. The diced potatoes were a standout--some added sautéed green peppers and onions, absolutely delicious! Everyone in our group was happy with their meal. Our waitress (I regret not remembering her name) was fantastic--attentive without being overbearing, and she happily accommodated a slight change to one of our orders. Plus, she made our experience extra special by leading the staff in singing happy birthday to a relative we were celebrating. While the restaurant has a lovely ambiance and I'd definitely visit again when in the area, it might not be ideal for large parties due to limited seating. Also, there's only one stall each in the women and men's restroom, though it was very clean. All in all, a great experience at Maple N Jams Cafe! I hurt my leg so I was limited in my mobility & she cared for me as though I were family. This is not an exaggeration! The staff was great. Most food is homemade and fresh. Never go to this establishment! Sam, the manager, got back to me in regards to having to wait 16 minutes for a phone order. He called it a slight delay and a miscommunication. This is the problem with today's businesses. This is not a slight delay. A slight delay is a couple of minutes. Maybe even 7 minutes. 16 minutes is worthy of at least an apology, which I never received. Instead, two people from this establishment said they had phones that did not let them know there Was someone on hold. Get some new phones! Move into the 21st-century! He claimed they tried to get a hold of me and apologize, but it didn't go through. What does that even mean? My phone and email work fine, and they never contacted me. They still won't take responsibility for their actions! I run a business. If I treated customers like this, I would be out of business! I would at least have offered someone in my case, a free meal. The food was good many options to choose from definitely made with a lot of attention but lacked a little flavor in my part , but the crepes were real good ! The place in it self was busy and steady got a table rather quick .. but our waiter I'm not sure if she had a lot on her plate so I'll give her the benefit of the doubt ...but I wished she was a little nicer & more attentive because she was never really at our table.
