    bacon and eggs on toast
    Jonna N.

Went twice already. Walked in and got seated fast even though it looked busy which was nice! Server was attentive and got our drinks and order in fast. Big fans of the cinnamon French toast. The Florentine Benedict was tasty too. I got 3 eggs and that was nice because I thought it would be one egg per English muffins. Only downside is that I wish I got some more food to for sure be full but it's pretty dependable for a quick bite. I'm a fan of little diners so I'll be coming back to try other items because they had lunch options as well as tons of other breakfast options.

The food had hair in it and they only wanted to give 10% discount for there terrible service. I will never return to this establishment.

You can't get this down in Atlanta, great service, they don't skimp on the portions sizes, and the man in charge has one heck of a 'stache.

The Golden Bear gave us grrrrreat service and food that is above average in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. I wish I could remember the name of our server. She was fantastic! Friendly, smiling the whole time, got an order for 8 people perfect and continued to check back on us throughout the entire meal. She worked so hard and we all enjoyed her company. She was fantastic! The atmosphere is really charming in an old world kind of way. Let's call it 1950's gone wild! Timber wallpaper, murals with lakes, trees, mountains, clouds and - yes - even bears! But it was cute and charming and clean and felt comfortable. With 8 people, we had many different dishes. All servings were very large - I could not finish my omelette. By the way - I have one problem to pick with the Golden Bear people. There was a Turkish omelette, a Polish sausage omelette, a Mexico City omelette and a Santa Fe omelette BUT NO GREEK OMELETTE!!!! To be fair, there is a spinach & feta cheese omelette but it's called - unceremoniously - a spinach & feta cheese omelette. If the owners can squeeze out all those other countries and locations, please call the damn spinach & feta omelette a GREEK OMELETTE!!! Of course, I am Greek so this problem really stood out for me. I mentioned it to our server and she sympathized with me. That's how good she was!!! So, bottom line, do I recommend the Golden Bear? Yes, I do. It is like walking back into history, getting some filling food and enjoying some excellent service!!! Do not feed the bears though, ok???? Just feed yourself and you will be glad you did!

This isn't just plant-based food -- it's thoughtful, balanced, and crafted with real love. I had the fish tacos (yes, vegan -- and absolutely convincing), the corn ribs, mushroom sandwich, truffle fries, mushroom quesadilla, horchata, and Jamaica. Not one miss. Every single item was a hit. The flavors are layered without being heavy. Comforting without being greasy. Satisfying without the crash. You leave feeling full but light -- the kind of meal where your mouth, your stomach, and your health all say "thank you." If you go, honestly? Do yourself a favor: order a sandwich and a drink. Sit with it. Taste it. Let it speak for itself. This is the kind of place we need not just to survive, but to thrive. You can feel the family behind it. The mom. The owner. The care. The pride. The love is truly in the food. Oak Lawn is lucky to have them. Go hungry. Leave grateful.

Corn in cup: Nice big bowl of crispy corn with plenty of ingredients to complement it. Just so good, ya don't want it to end. Corn "Ribs": Yeah more corn, just one look and you're hooked before ya try them. The crema and Coco Salsa are a perfect addition to this delicious and beautiful dish. "Calamari": What? Huh? Coconut meat? Okay, I'll try it. What in the world is going on in this place?!! My mind is blown, what just happened?!! Crispy on the outside, so tender in the middle. The cocktail sauce was great too. I swing both ways, I mean my son calls me vegan fluid, lol. This makes makes me rethink real Calamari, this may actually be better. I'm Italian, those words don't come easy. Dinner.... Yeah, we were so full already, but had to keep pushing Pozole: Smokey red chili broth, I could sip on all day! Jackfruit was so tender and chickpeas were done right. They nailed it again. "Fish" Tacos: Yeah, more coconut meat. Had to give it another go in a different version. Nice big crispy and tender pieces, cold creamy coleslaw on top w chipotle mayo. The taco itself was also delicious. Flavorful rice and guac nicely complement this dish. It's a must have. Dessert, lol, just had to squeeze more food in..... Wife had a Chocolate Concha. Usually concha's come up short for me, but not at this place. I took a bite :) They just don't miss. It was delicious. It was finally time to waddle out of there. In closing..... The owner is always amazing and there all the time, super friendly. Actually remembered us and what we ordered last time! Food is always consistent, the quality is top notch, portions are big, food is beautifully presented and you can tell they care about it. Just look at all the photos on yelp, the meals are always presented the same. You can see what your gonna get and actually get it! You need to realize you're at a real special place, you are NOT going to get this food anywhere else. So treat yourself, splurge a little, you're not gonna regret it. Thank you Abuelita Coco for NOT making miss meat or dairy when I go there. So much love for this place, just wish it was closer to the city. Maybe someday, one can only wish.

Drinks were strong and absolutely delicious. However, here's why I would not return. There is an automatic 18% gratuity added to everything -- and I truly mean everything. I completely understand an automatic gratuity on food and service. But there was also an 18% gratuity added for taking pictures. He was literally the assigned "picture person." Why is gratuity being added for that? On top of that, we were charged an 18% gratuity on to-go bottles as well. Again... why is gratuity being added to take-out items? It's a nice place with good food and a great staff, but the way the gratuity is applied across the board feels excessive and honestly takes away from the overall experience. I believe in tipping and taking care of people -- always. This just felt a little extreme.
