I am a returning customer and typically order the grilled tenders. On this visit, however, I decided to try something different unlike my husband whom stuck with the tenders while I ordered the daily special, which was the pork chop dinner. Both dinners came with two sides, we chose macaroni and corn. Unfortunately, when we returned home and began eating our meals, we found that the tender weren't done and that pork chop was extremely tough and difficult to eat. The macaroni was also a little watery (couldn't really get the cheese taste) and not prepared to the quality I have come to expect from Cracker Barrel. I called the restaurant to report my concerns and spoke with a male manager. He apologized for my experience and the quality of the meal and told me that I could return to the restaurant at any time to have my food remade. I provided my name, and based on the manager's assurance, I discarded my receipt because I understood that the issue had already been addressed and that I would be able to receive the replacement. However, when I called the restaurant yesterday to redeem the complimentary meal that I had been promised, I was denied. I was also unable to obtain a corporate customer service number. Instead, I was told that I needed to locate my receipt in order to obtain the number. I explained that I had already discarded the receipt because the manager had previously assured me that my meal would be replaced and had taken my name. What is particularly frustrating is that I am now being held responsible for not having a receipt that I reasonably believed was no longer necessary after a manager had already offered a resolution. Had I been told during my initial conversation that the receipt may be required to receive the replacement meal, I would have kept it. Even though the manager yesterday didn't seem to care even if I found a way to provide proof of the order. I understand that mistakes happen, and I initially felt that the situation had been handled appropriately because the manager apologized and offered to make the situation right. My concern now is that the resolution I was promised was not honored. I have been a customer who typically enjoys Cracker Barrel, which is why I was willing to give a different menu item a try. Unfortunately, the food quality and the way my follow-up was handled have left me disappointed..
