Great experience overall - from the moment we walked in to eating our good quality food, beautiful. I'm not from Oak Forest but it reminded me of a Mom & Pop shop back home that I loved going to with my family. Plus our server was wonderful & made us feel at home. Always asking if we were okay or needed anything else. I've had many skillets before but I haven't had their kind of Taco Meat skillet, it was good. One of my happiest moments is went your entree comes with pancakes, French toast, or toast, like that just shows life is good. Which my skillet came with pancakes. We went for breakfast for Fathers Day. We were a party of 7, 2 of which were kids. Understandably it was busy. We were literally there for an hour when either the manager or owner came to our table and told us to hurry up to pay because she had people waiting and we were "past our time". We literally had just received the check and our togo boxes. Also the "past our time" confused us because we were never told we had a time limit. It's not like we were sitting there for hours wasting time. We ordered and ate in a timely manner. But obviously since it was busy it took a bit for the waitress to take our order and for the food to come. As someone who worked in the restaurant industry for over 10 years and even managed a restaurant that was just unacceptable and poor customer service. You don't tell customers that they have to hurry up to pay and leave because you need the table. Sorry you can't handle/manage a busy restaurant, but you definitely need to work on your customer service skills as they are non existent. We will definitely not be going back, there are plenty of places to eat around the area that provide better food and customer service. read more

Foods okay if they get it right, I asked 3 times for a fruit oatmeal with brown sugar to go, seems easy to make but I guess not to them. I'm not sure if it's the cooks fault or they lady taking the order at the front desk but all 3 times I didn't get brown sugar and just a couple strawberries. Again I asked for a fruit oatmeal with brown sugar, not a strawberry oatmeal. They charge you for the extra fruit and brown sugar as well and I didn't get either so that was very nice of them. read more

The problem with this place, isn't the food or the service it's the manager. The restaurant closes at 2. I got their at 1:30 and was told I have to eat and get out at 2. Was there today, the waitress was bad, I think she was new, the cashier confirmed it. On the way out we told the cashier, hopefully the owner makes some changes. I wish we would've just canceled the order it took long enough we were upset and ate anyway that upset our stomach, it was unsettling. I'm certain she was racist, very pathetic. More importantly she handed us our drinks placing her hands on the mouth of the cups ,and not on the stems, which is a code FDA violation, I will not be returning to this place and wish everyone the best of luck. The prices are great for a breakfast place and the atmosphere is comforting. Get the skillet. They're amazing. I can never finish one because the portions are huge, but then I get leftovers which is great. I've also had the eggs Benedict and pancakes and those are amazing too. However, nothing beats their skillets so trust me and get one. Service is always quick and wonderful and I love their Mexican shrine to the virgin Mary behind the cash register. So my review on this place is solely based on the service alone. Only because my boyfriend and I sat for a good 15 minutes and did not receive any acknowledgment whatsoever. No coffee, no hellos, nothing. With that said, we got up and left. So I cannot comment on what the food was like, unfortunately. However, I am going to assume, that based on the extreme disorganization of this establishment, our food would have been subpar as well. I would also like to add that the decor here is not for everyone. There is a creepy virgin mary statue at the front desk? And if I recall the walls were white and decorated to a bare minimum with tacky objects. It just was not very inviting. Went for breakfast on a Sunday morning around 10:30. Ordered a waffle, plain with a side of bacon. Before I got the waffle I asked the waitress to bring me warm syrup. She brought me back another cold syrup. Waited awhile for our breakfast. Waffle came so cold the butter wouldn't melt. Told the waitress and she didn't understand me. Tried to eat it anyway but it wasn't palatable. Took my plate to find a waitress who spoke enough English to nuke my damn waffle. Finally got hot food. But, come on. The hostess didn't care a bit when I told her. Very disappointing. read more

My wife and 3 kids love this place. When we go it's usually on Sunday after Mass. We usually have the breakfast skillets: Mexican and Italian-they are very tasty. The kids do pancakes, beacon, hash and OJ-(traditional breakfast). Oh and we all love the Cream of Chicken Soup! We usually stick to the same order everytime, it's that good! The menu is really vast so I can't in good faith comment on the other menu items. I did once have a Club Sandwich- it was good. The servicie is friendly and the meals come out quickly. We always overlooked this place because the sign makes it sound like a jewelry store! Unfortunately I should have realized that since this place wasn't reviewed yet that that might mean bad things......I got violently ill about 12 hours after I ate there. Of course you can never say for sure that it was this restaurant that caused the food poisoning, but I don't really want to give them the benefit of the doubt and test it again because it really wan't that great anyway. We went there on a friday and I inquired about the special on the sign (breakfast special 3.99 monday through friday). However since it was a holiday (veterans day), I was told that this particular day it wasn't available. I think that is false advertising and it definitely made me grumpy. It was one of the main reasons we wanted to even try this place, since it is rare that my husband and I are both off on a weekday. I got pancakes and a skillet meal, and my husband got the eggs/pancakes/sausage/hash browns meal. They both tasted fine. If you do go, definitely DON'T order the chocolate milk. It was watery and thin, and it definitely tasted strange and off. It tasted like chocolate almond or soy milk. My husband didn't get sick, and he ate similar things to me, so I am guessing one of the eggs in my skillet meal was bad or some of the vegetables weren't washed properly. The incident was reported to the cook county health commissioner so they could investigate. read more

I'm shocked at how little reviews this place has. I've been here a couple of times and one can classify it as a typical greasy spoon diner. I've only had breakfast here and it's good. My husband an I love this place!!! We go there often! I love their pancakes, skillets and Omelettes. We have brought family and friend there and they always enjoy their meal too!!
