I love Orland Oasis! I've driven by so many times and said "I should try it" only to forget the next time I want to go get breakfast. Today I finally went. It's a very small little place but they have a pretty decent menu. Breakfast and lunch only. It seems like the kind of place that would be cash only but they do take cards with a small card fee. Very cozy, like an old Route 66 diner. Our server was friendly and greeted us promptly. Bottomless coffee was had and I got a chicken fried steak, eggs and biscuit & gravy. My food was good and this is one of the few places I've been that knows how to properly make eggs over medium. I managed to leave my hat behind. I have been going to this restaurant for over 10 years. It's a very small personable place where you feel so welcome every time you walk in. The women who run the place have known my son since he was 4 years old, and still remembers him every time we come in. The food is always great . I had the chicken salad which was very good. Also the pork schnitzel which was hand breaded not frozen. Portion was very good. Pork was tasty. Came with choice of sauerkraut or red cabbage. This is a good, friendly basic breakfast place. A total family run small business. We have been coming for years and enjoyed a visit when we were back in town. Our first visit, ages ago, was because a friend liked eating here and we met for brunch. I had a corned beef hash skillet, substituted a biscuit for the other bread choices and really enjoyed it. Enough so that I brought half of it home which will be more than enough for another meal. Lots and lots of repeat customers which says a lot. I'll be back when you visit again. read more

This business opened up at 8 AM. I called at 8:05 one order a pick up. All I want was a Denver omelette the woman answer. The phone said she has to put me on hold. She's too busy. I got customers waiting here really how long does it take you to write Denver omelette on a ticket and give it to the chef 30 seconds you couldn't find 30 seconds to write it so she blew me off for the customers that were there in front of her and with obvious don't care about phone orders been there before tipped very well. Really like this little diner-like breakfast place. It seems that a few reviewers offered up negative comments - but check out how many total reviews they have. I don't rely much on reviews where it is their only comment - they are using YELP to punish restaurants. This place is nice. It is much like a small diner would be in Vermont - in fact it reminds me of one my SO and I went to when visiting VT. The waitresses here are nice, and they have been here at least 50 years. Yes, the door does say it sticks ... but once inside past the sticky door you are in a nice - albeit loud - little breakfast place with just a few tables. Give this place a chance and fashion your own opinion. On our latest visit we had a breakfast sandwich (very nice 4-star egg and bacon on rye toast) and scrambled and toast (nice 4-star easy stuff). As soon as my mom and I sat down, this older lady who I assume is maybe a supervisor or something, asked us if we wanted anything to drink, my mom was on a quick call and couldn't answer, which was obvious. I just said I'm fine with water for now, she picked up the mugs and my mom respectfully told her that she would like some coffee so to please leave the coffee mugs. The older lady then replied, "well he said just coffee" with an attitude. And slammed the mugs on the table. We left no more than 5 minutes being in there. This is the same place as Chef Krause Orland Oasis. It is a small breakfast joint that could be located in Mayberry. The menu is simple and there are daily specials on the board. You are best to go early to beat the crowd cause if all the tables are full there is little place to wait. The servers are nice and the food is fast and fresh. Give it a try! read more

This is a lovely American diner with an old-world twist. You can get all of your normal breakfast and lunch items but there are also an assortment of Italian, Swiss, and German items to sweeten the pot for more adventurous eaters. I ordered the European Sausage Skillet with rye toast. The skillet was in the upper 25% of all of the skillets I've had in my life. Two kinds of German sausages, hash browns, eggs and cheese came together in a delightful combination. The rye toast wasn't the snively thin sliced bread you normally get at a diner. It was a nice medium sliced seeded rye. My husband ordered a Reuben which was was, in his words, the best Reuben he has ever eaten. When he asked if they make their own sauerkraut, the response he got was "how else would you do it?" That's what I'm talking about. High quality ingredients and attention to detail combined with attentive service make this a five star destination. Just be aware that there are only about 12 tables, so there may be a small wait. read more

We walk in and the smell of mold is apparent almost immediately as I stand there for a few minutes waiting to be greeted. The place doesn't look like much from the outside. Doesn't really look like Anything. And it's tiny on the inside, like a room off of someone's kitchen. And it's always staff-decorated to fit the season or upcoming holiday. It is usually busy during weekend-breakfast hours, and with good reason; the food is consistently excellent and so is the service. Doesn't matter what you order, you know it's going to be delicious. I can think of only two negatives about the Oasis: 1.) Like I said, it is a small room, so if there's a "loud talker" in the house it can be annoying. 2.) One star is for the very adorableness of this place. You feel like you're in a little country restaurant way out in the middle of nowhere. I was really excited to have breakfast here for the first time. My son and I walked in and they told us to be seated anywhere we like so we did. Super cute and quaint inside. I had an important phone call which I took just as we were seated and a woman came over and asked what we wanted to drink. She may or may not have seen that I was on the phone, however my son told her will just have water. I immediately paused my phone conversation and said excuse me and she looked at me like she wanted to cut my head off as she was taking away the coffee cups. I said please leave those we're going to have coffee. She slammed them down on the table and said "well he said just water" and stormed off. I really, really wanted to like this cute little diner. I ordered the eggs with schnitzel, which came with frozen, unseasoned hash browns. The eggs were cooked well but unsalted. The schnitzel was well made but unsalted. The toast was generic, thin and almost burnt. It tasted like sawdust! The coffee was ok. I asked for gravy to try to give the schnitzel some flavor but that didn't work. Perhaps, I should have ordered a sweet breakfast instead. This diner only serves breakfast and lunch and closes early. I did not see a bathroom! When the waitress gave me my check, she asked how I liked my food. I told her the food had no salt. She agreed and said next time order your food with salt because we don't salt our food! There won't be a next time. read more

I'm giving this place one star in hopes that the owner will contact me. I ate breakfast at this establishment this morning and what happened to me there was unacceptable. The food was very tasty, the waitress was very sweet, but there should be some sort of policy in place to either comp the meal of someone who is harassed, or to throw out rowdy obnoxious patrons, or both. I will never go back to your restaurant again, which is a damn shame, because the food was very good. Here is an excerpt of what I wrote up this morning after dining at Orland oasis: Well, I decided to take the day off because I had an appointment at the sleep clinic mid morning. I thought great! I get to have some alone time, maybe practice a little self care, treat myself. After the appointment I decided to try a restaurant I've been wondering about for a few weeks. It had really good reviews, it's a small diner, I usually enjoy those little hole in the wall places. I sit down, order my food. There's a group of six very large men sitting a few feet away from me (this place only had maybe eight tables). They start to get really loud and I realize they're not very kind people. The first thing I heard them talking about was Drew Peterson. A former police officer that murdered multiple wives. They're talking about how they should let him out of prison. As someone who works in the criminal justice system and as a survivor of domestic violence I try to ignore them. Another man comes in that doesn't know them but sits at the table between us. The group of men start to tell jokes. First about Muslims. They argue about the number of virgins you get when you die. One says he uses the Qur'an to wipe his ass. Then they move on to Jews. "What's the difference between a Jew and a canoe?" one says to the other. "A canoe tips." They all chuckle heartily and then I heard one tell a story about how a black man (you can imagine the racial slur they used) allegedly left a 67 cent tip for someone one night. I'm so uncomfortable at this point I'm practically inhaling my food so i can get out of there. The man sitting at the table between us gets up to leave and one of the guys at the big table tells him "hey, you see that gray Hyundai out there? Pull that sticker off the car on your way out." The men at the big table, the lone guy and I are the only ones in the diner besides the waitress and cook, so it's pretty obvious who owns the gray Hyundai. The lone guy looks bewildered. The man explains that it's a Bernie Sanders sticker and he needs to take it off of my car. The lone guy shakes his head and leaves. One of the other men at the table yells really loud "hey who's car is that anyways?" and they all look at me. "What are you, a communist?!" one guy yells at me. "Yeah, I'm a communist," I scoffed. They go on to discuss how Bernie just wants to pass out free joints, and let all the Muslims and immigrants take over the country. "Look at the idiots that follow him," they laugh. "I won't be happy until every single fucking Muslim and immigrant is DEAD!" another one adds. "You better vote for Trump!" one yells at me. They start to discuss how anyone should be able to carry a gun without a permit and that it's "bullshit" that the government has to approve your application for conceal carry. I've finally finished my food and I'm shaking uncontrollably. I was by myself against six large men. I'm a domestic violence and sexual assault survivor. I suffer from fairly severe anxiety and PTSD. Because of this I couldn't find the courage to say much to them, and it probably wouldn't have mattered anyways. But when I got up and left I said "it sure takes a lot of courage to harass a woman who's by herself." "We don't harass women, we LOVE women!!" one retorted. Creep. I told the waitress that I was sorry she had to deal with that and gave her a 50% tip for her troubles. She apologized, gave me a sympathetic look, and patted me on the back. I took several turns out of the way on my way home to make sure no one was following me. I haven't been that scared in a long time, and I shouldn't have to be scared just because of my political views. I would never ridicule or harass someone in a restaurant just because they had a Trump sticker on their car. This election is doing horrible things to a lot of people. It's making it acceptable to be a bully. The hatred has always been there, but until recently it wasn't ok to be openly racist, at least not around these parts. It's terrifying. In a way I'm glad my husband wasn't there because he's a Hispanic immigrant. I can only imagine how that would have gone. read more
