Gaston's of Orland Park catered a memorial we held at our home yesterday. The delicious food was delivered on time and in a very friendly manner. We had the beef bourguignon, home made mashed potatoes and beautifully prepared fresh green beans. Our guests loved everything, especially the savory beef and gravy. The food was excellent. My wife and I had French onion soup and then we had the crabcakes with string beans and mashed potatoes. Everything was fantastic including the very nice server would highly recommend this place. Haven't been here in years. I don't know why I missed. It will return soon five stars. read more

My sister said Gastons had a good write-up in a local paper with good reviews, so we went there for lunch. I ordered the Corned Beef Hash and was disappointed with the portion size. I asked the waitress if the cook could add a little more, but a few minutes later, the assistant manager with the same plate without anything added said that I must have been mistaken and had probably seen the "Corned Beef Skillet." Whether it was my version of the corned beef hash or the skillet, it didn't make a difference. My sister ordered their Crab Cake Benedict; what a disaster! I'm sharing a photo of the entree and one from the restaurant's images. The hollandaise sauce in the restaurant photo is smoother than my sister's. However, the eggs are broken, which is far from the smoothness of the restaurant photo. Also, the crab cakes were puny. read more

This place has been here for 20 years and I had never heard of it. We read a news story about it and decided to give it a try. And we are so glad we did! I ordered a special so its not on the menu. It was the Scallop Pasta. My experience in the past with this type of dish is that they are usually flavorless. You just get to enjoy the scallops. But low and behold not here! The flavors in this entree were over the top crazy delicious! A 5 out of 5 rating! The ingredients were so fresh and the flavors so bold! The scallops, as well as the other items, were cooked to perfection. The chef knows his business! I had a difficult time selecting my entree as every item on the menu was very appealing. My wife had the Fruity Blast Crepes. She is a crepe coinsure and she was not happy. Her claim is that the crepes were too thin, flavorless and hard. She also feels that the blueberry's were frozen and not fresh. And that there were not enough fruits inside the crepes. The order comes with two crepes which she consumed entirely. She usually has to take some home. She is picky so take that with a grain of salt. 3 out of 5 rating. The owner here gives every customer personal attention which I like and my wife doesn't. But he is a great guy. As I mentioned before the service is friendly and professional. But the food takes a long time to arrive. So they should provide a complementary appetizer to hold you over until your entree arrives. Also the place has poor ventilation and they compensate with fans. The fans are VERY annoying and can ruin your experience if you don't take charge as we did. Overall this is a MUST try venue. I loved it and the wife liked it. But I know better! We have been visiting this place for years , our favorite is the blackened chicken on a croissant and the Gaston salad and Greek salad but everything we tried was good especially the pastas. The owner takes pride in his food and often walks around and asks if everything is to your liking. The inside is done nicely and comfortable and the deserts are homemade and special. I say try it. The ladies seem to like lunching there , it's not loud and crowded like the other Orland restaurants. read more

Just got seated. Bathroom is clean and very nice. the tall plant by the register has trash next to it. Overall cleanliness 7/10. Food is good! I had the fried chicken sandwich with mayo based pasta salad and a pickle. My daughter had the chicken Caesar wrap we both took half home. Went on 3/23 today is 3/25 she hasn't eaten it yet but says she still wants it though. Ewww. I was going to toss it but she protested. I will go back for breakfast another time. read more

The chicken salad sandwich was great.. HOWEVER... our server, Jihad informed me that the chicken salad sandwich was not $7 as it says on the menu, but it was $13. When I asked go speak to the owner, he said it was $13 & if I counted down the number of prices written, I would see that the $7 was for the grilled cheese, and not thr chicken salad sandwich...a printing error. I shouldn't have to play some kind of a game when it comes to their prices!? I found that to be a bit of a sparky answer, which they should have honored the $7.. Nope! He charged me $13. Sooooo.. We were a table of 6 and because of this nonsense, we will not return. I hope it was worth it.. No wonder we had the place to ourselves for almost 2 hours. read more

Gastons has a very nice atmosphere with an owner that cares for freshness and quality, Often he comes out and checks how you are enjoying your order even in the afternoon. We have stopped here for years and I recommend it to my lady friends for a nice more personal lunch out to meet and talk. My husband and I enjoy the salads and the Blackened Chicken croissant and Avocado Toast Salad and Gastons Salad . Pasta dishes are good and Desserts look very amazing too. read more

Located close to the Orland Square Mall, I was able to try Gaston's. The restaurant has plenty of seats / tables for all party size. I like that I can pick any table I want. Gaston's has a vast menu of sandwiches to choose from which I like and I ended up with the roast beef panini ($12) and it came nice and tasty as how I like it. Ordered through Grub Hub at 6:23 pm. Due to arrive by 7:01-7:16. Ordered chicken bow tie Mediterranean chicken wrap and French onion soup. Order did not arrive until 7:51 pm. Soup was barely warm. Pasta I could not find more than a couple small diced pieces of chicken. Both soup and pasta needed seasoning. They were very bland. Wrap was pretty good. I opted for dressing on the side to avoid being soggy. When tracking order it looked like my food took a detour to another stop before mine. Requested refund from grub hub. This place is tucked away in a strip mall, but is well worth looking for! It has indoor and outdoor seating and ample parking. The indoors is beautifully appointed and cozy; the outdoor patio has plenty of tables with umbrellas. The owner is gracious and friendly. His waitstaff is very much the same. After reading recently that this place is struggling to stay open, I thought I'd try them again. It's been years since I was here! I had a cup of the tomato Florentine soup. Great flavor! Next, I opted for the croque monsieur sandwich...which is a twist on the grilled hand and cheese It's served on a baguette with Dijon mustard and the cheese is melted on top! Very good! Lovely outside area , and cozy inside area. Very friendly feeling . The manager greeted us and everyone else, he very friendly and welcoming . Three of us for lunch. We split chicken Quesadillas, which were wonderful and tasty. I ordered New Orleans shrimp and penne pasta, it had a delicious sauce that also had sun dried tomatoes, each portions / entrees were Flintstone size . The sauce was great , everyone at the table loved it. Another entree was a cheeseburger , and again it was huge , but more importantly flavor was delicious and perfectly cooked (med rare) . Last was a huge salad with blackened chicken and beets , also very tasty. So , everything ordered was absolutely delicious and I thought portions TOO BIG , WE WANTED TO ORDER SWEETS AND CAPPUCCINOS BUT NO ROOM . We left with doggie bags as did everyone else in the restaurant. AND one problem. Our very sweet waitress spoke so quickly we couldn't understand her, she never cleared off our table , there wasn't enough room all the dishes ( which were BIG) so we put them on the spare chair or the next empty table . We asked for water, and she brought out only for one person. We asked for plates and flatware and I don't think she knew what flatware was until my friend said utensils. That was our only complaint , perhaps she was new . NOW THE BUSBOY, he was excellent, he did bring us what we asked for , he cleared the table without us asking. Spoke clearly and was friendly. He was really hustling, so we also tipped him. We will definitely come back , especially for the savory crepes. Go there , you won't be disappointed. We've been going to Gaston's since they opened and we enjoy all the dishes! We went twice last weekend. My husband ordered the Florentine Benedict both days and is in love with the dish. I ordered the classic turkey sandwich with a side of pasta salad. I ate half of the turkey sandwich in the photo above , so portions were generous. No deli turkey meat here! Fresh roasted turkey sliced from the bone to order. Delicious! French bread was soft and chewy. Sandwich trimmings were fresh and tasty. This place was on Restaurant Impossible a while back. I actually didn't learn that until I'd ordered from them a few times. The menu is expansive, but I recommend sticking with the beef burgundy or the Hunter Chicken as those have always been consistently really good. The other items can be good or not and some I'm not sure why they're served at a place with a French name. I can't comment on service as I've only ordered carryout. But there have been no issues in any case, the food arrived on time and was hot. Stick with the two dishes I mentioned and you can't go wrong. read more

I had the crab cakes and my friend had the blackened salmon. We loved both of them! The sauce for the salmon was especially tasty that we asked for seconds! Both came with delicious fresh mashed potatoes with gravy & fresh steamed green beans and carrots. The veggies were cooked to perfection! I also had the cafe mocha with almond milk. It was delicious! Friend had the crème brûlée for dessert and I had the limoncello cake. These were the best desserts we ever had in our whole life! Cake was so moist & creamy! The brûlée was made to absolute perfection! I've been here several times in the past and I've yet to be disappointed. Food was great, had an egg and cheese crossaint, some spinach, avocado, mushroom, and cheese crepes, the house veggie burger, and crispy eggplant with polenta and goat cheese. The crepe came with only the cheese on the inside and other ingredients on top, and was more of a crispy rather than soft or spongy texture, so somewhat different than I had pictured but they were good. I'd order all of it again! Service was good and attentive. Food was a little slow to come out at times given that the place was pretty empty, but I wasn't in a hurry and was taking my own time, so I didn't mind that. Will definitely return! read more

Went there for brunch with some friends on a Sunday morning after a hike at Swallow Cliff Woods (which is also beautiful SO fun by the way... assuming hiking is your bag that is!) Just had dinner at Gastons. How often does the owner come out and ask.how you liked the food. Well everytime we have been there, the owner comes to your table and asks if everything is okay. My husband loves the Beet salad,loaded with strawberries and pears and walnuts My favorite is the Tomato Florentine soup. As well as our waitress Natalia who was very attentive and kind. The restaurant was super cozy and clean and resembled a bistro that you might find in France. The food was really good too. We had crab cakes and fried calamari which tasted nice and crispy and fresh. I had hunter style chicken(Chicken with mushrooms and onions). It tasted good and fresh. So did the veggies and potatoes that came with it. Mom had a croque monsieur which she enjoyed. It's a French ham and cheese sandwich. Our friends enjoyed their food as well.
