The staff at Egg Harbor Cafe in Orland is always super nice and welcoming. The location has ample parking, accessible most easily from 143rd street. There is breakfast and lunch all day, which means I can order a chicken wrap with potatoes at 8am and it's great. I enjoy the side salads as well. The soup menu changes, but the chicken tortilla is a staple and pretty tasty. The coffee drinks are carefully crafted and enjoyable. Carryout orders are well packaged. read more

This is my second time visiting an Egg Harbor Cafe location. The first was about 15 years ago in Lake Geneva. The second location was in Orland Park. I must say the experience in Lake Geneva was better. We visited the Orland Park location on a Wednesday around 10am and it was pretty crowded, and the service was ridiculously slow. Although our server was nice, he was waiting on multiple tables, more than normal. I'm guessing that either some staff called off, or they are always short during the week. Let's get to the food. I had a Strawberry Crunch French Toast. The concept was good, but it really needed some fresh strawberry syrup instead of the maple syrup that was served to me. I got a side of hashbrowns, which ended up being home fries, which I'm not a fan of. I prefer actual hashbrowns or smothered potatoes. The hubby had the create your own omelette with maple bourbon bacon, chicken and spinach. He enjoyed that, but also wasn't a fan of the home fries. Now, I actually came for the apple cider mimosa. This location had its grand opening last month, and hubby and I decided to give them a try. When we arrived, the line was out the door. The waiting area was packed, and because it was windy, many patrons, including us, waited in our cars until we were notified to present to the front. Hubby always asks for a booth, which we did request, and because of this, we may wait an additional 5 minutes, give or take, which is no big deal to us. The parking lot is somewhat small, but it is across a bank, so some patrons did park there. The ambiance is bright and friendly, and the staff is pleasant. We were greeted with a warm welcome and were thanked for coming in as we left. Our busser, who delivered our water, also greeted us, which we appreciated. Our waiter was Marvin, and he was just as wonderful and knowledgeable. He asked if we'd been here before, and since we hadn't, he went to explain the menu and answered our questions. Hubby ordered the Harbor signature pancakes combo, and we loved the tagline of the person who brought the syrup: " Here is our syrup to make your pancakes more delicious!" I ordered the ultimate skillet. The food was ample, and everything was tasty and seasoned just right. Serving an English muffin with the egg dishes adds a different yet delightful twist to toast. This is definitely a staple, and next time around, we plan on going for lunch. read more

We had a great experience coming here for the first time. Walking in, there was so much happening and a little overwhelming. We chose to sit outside and enjoy the weather. On several occasions we were brought items that we did not order but can understand that the servers may be still learning the floor layout. The avocado toast tasted great, however I did have to remove some onions and goat cheese to balance the strong flavors together. The avocado toast could also use some more toasting as it was received slightly soggy. The strawberry orange juice was great and fresh. The San Antonio skillet was visibly appealing and did not disappoint. The potatoes were cooked to perfection and seasoned well along with the sunny side egg. The ice coffee was pretty mid but was still refreshing. For those reasons, we decided 2 stars! read more

Opened only since March 2025, this place is humming. We went on a weekday and it was crowded, but still easier to get into than when it opened and had lines outside the door. We have been to other Egg Harbors, and this one has a similar menu ... many items, all the usuals, and very good coffee. We had Swedish Pancakes with lingonberries (a 5-star offering of excellent crepe-like pancakes and a nice sweet touch in the berries) and the traditional breakfast of 2 eggs over easy, hash browns, chicken sausage, and an English muffin (another 5-star offering where the hash browns are in chunks instead of shreds and the house-made jelly was very nice). So, overall the food was 5-star stuff. Ambiance wise the L-shape of the loud dining room is interesting. You enter from the parking lot through a door on the parking lot side ... even thought the entire front of the store faces two busy streets and has a patio ... so that is where you can dine al fresco. On entering, you come into a pretty narrow room with two rows of booths and a side aisle, and as you progress farther in you see the room open up and become much larger and more inviting. There is also a little coffee bar you can sit and order at in this section. So why only 3 stars if the food was 5 stars ... table service was fine, but the kitchen seems to have trouble keeping up. We waited a long time to get the food and, although it was excellent, the kitchen makes this place not a stop for a quick cup of coffee and a roll. When you come, be prepared to sit a while. We were placed near the entrance door and that was not very welcoming either. In this area, you'll be bothered by every group that comes in, and cooled or heated every time the door opens. It might work easier if they took out the first row of booths to open up this very tight entrance. We are sure they'll work out the opening months' bugs, and improve timing and the like. But, in the meantime, this is still a nice stop for some very good food. read more

I was at Egg Harbor on 11/20. I was nearly finished with my waffle when my friend looked across and said "please tell me that's not a hair on your plate" Unfortunately it was. They said my bill was no charge but they switched the charge of the pumpkin spice chai tea latte from my bill to my friends. I went on a Saturday morning after my exercise class and errands. The restaurant was pretty full, but I was seated immediately. The atmosphere was vibrant and it looked new and fresh. I opted for the strawberry orange juice - but aside from what looked like mini specs of strawberry seeds - I couldn't tell there was any strawberry in the juice at alI...just tasted like regular orange juice. I decided to go with a breakfast combo and order blueberry pancakes, eggs with onions and cheese and bacon. It took longer than I expected to receive my food and when it arrived, the eggs were really hot - but the pancakes and bacon were lukewarm at best. I decided against sending it back since I didn't have another 20 minutes to wait. The server was kind and attentive. The total was over $30 for the one meal, so kind of pricey, but at least the portions were large, so I took half with me. Ordered food for delivery. Tried the Geneva Rosti Foor County Melt Cherrywood Bacon Maple Bourbon Bacon and a scoop each of Tuna salad and Egg salad. First the Rosti and bacon arrived cold. The Rosti once I heated it tasted ok but for me was overpowering with onion and green onion. The bacon was good. Although I preferred the cherrywood version. Tuna salad tasted a little fishy to me. Egg salad again a little too much onion for my taste. Door county melt not much chicken salad on it. The fruit that came with the Rosti was a nice variety and good side portion. Delivery went well. Food and service are great, but portions could be a little bigger for the price. One thing I must caution though if you are a rewards member like me, DO NOT pay at the table using the QR code/Toast. I did that and the page timed out on me. While the bill was paid, I DID NOT get any points added to my account for my visit (on a $50+ bill). So I highly advise against using it. First the positive, the food was very good. Generous portions, fresh ingredients, and great taste. The negative- I can't even say we had bad service because we had no service at all! It was a busy Sunday. We were greeted at our table after about 6 minutes with a server saying "Hi I'm Precious, I'm not your server but I can get you drinks and take your order if you are ready right now." Our drinks came and then our food. We asked someone for refills on our $3.70 drinks but they never came. A woman appeared much later and said I'm your server but I was busy outside. Here's your bill. Not even a how was everything, do you need anything. I asked her for drink refills which showed up begrudgingly. I guess they just write off smaller tables in hopes for bigger tips at bigger tables. To begin we were told the wait was 30 minutes and after 50 minutes I said something to the host and he tried to make me feel better by telling me that someone else had been waiting for 57. We were then seated after 53 minutes. The waitress came and we told her that we were ready to order and she said she would be right back. After 10 mins she came back and took our order. It took at least 30 mins for the food to come and when it arrived all of our food was cold. My son immediately got sick and had to stop eating. My food was absolutely terrible. My biscuit was awful and completely hard. My French toast tasted frozen, gummy and impossible to cut. No one in my family enjoyed our meal. After waiting 53 minutes I expected at least a decent meal. First time visiting an Egg Harbor Cafe and had the pleasure of going to the new one in Orland Park, Il...it used to be a BBQ place and the remodel was done very well. Welcoming staff, plenty of seating and great food. My wife and I had skillets with harbor potatoes....nice size portions and we both liked the different take on the skillets. They have a wide assortment menu with all tastes for breakfast covered. I liked the fact of when ordereing coffee they give you a mini carafe so its a lot easier to refill. I really wanted to like this place. Avocado toast portion was really small and soggy- the toast should air out for a minute so the steam doesn't soak back into the bread under the avocado. It was very flimsy and hard to eat, even when cut in half. The skillet was dry and the jalapeños were not cooked at all, making it a bit unpleasant. The eggs were perfectly sunny side up, which is kind of hard to pull off so kudos to that. The key west crepes were pretty good, kept well till the next day, and probably the only thing I would order again but I'm not sure if I would come back here just for them. I think it was kind of rude that the server brought our check out before we were done eating. New location since March. Great food and plenty of seating arrangements whether tables or booths. I got the Ultimate Skillet which was delicious which comes with English Muffin which wasn't toasted enough and needed to be toasted again, but that was the only bad thing as far as the food 5 stars. As I sat at the kitchen counter, the big screen said to get on the Egg Harbor website to register for the Breakfast Club, so I proceeded to do so. First it asks questions about your name, address etc., then it takes you into Microsoft to register for that platform again and then takes you to a logic puzzle and then sends you verification codes to your phone (which don't come so you do over and over again) and on and on and on. About 25 minutes later you get a blank screen and then another minute later it says "Something didn't take; please try again"! So after all that frustration, I said the heck with all that nonsense just to join a breakfast club, I'm not doing all that again!!! So turns out when I complained upon leaving, the waitresses said that all one needs to do is give your phone number to the waitress with your bill and they can sign you up that way - easy peasy - Wow, I wish I never read the big screen monitor that said to register on the website because it's a waste of time and total frustration! They need to eliminate that off the screen!!! Other than that, the place is great! The waitresses are friendly and prompt and the coffee is served in a carafe to keep hot. Just routinely toast the muffins twice, so one doesn't need to send back while food gets cold and I'm a happy camper! read more

I don't usually leave reviews because even if something gets mixed up with my order I'm always happy to get it fixed with no problem as I'm aware things can happen. However, I ordered the Tuna Avocado sandwich and it came out fast and warm except when I open the sandwich there's literally 3 tinyyyy pieces of avocado like I'm saying like %2 of a single avocado was put on my sandwich and my wife got an omelette with avocado in it as well so I opened her omelette just to see if they gave her a good portion and I kid you not in both our meals it wasn't even a full avocado in total. I didn't complain I simply looked around for my server which seemed to have way too many tables to handle by herself even with food and drink runners, I just kept looking until she had to pass by our table so I told her about my Sandwich and she said let me take it back, took about 5 minutes to return which is crazy when you only have to throw an avocado on there. Food runner came back with my plate but my server didn't, she never came back to see if it came back good and I didn't have water so I had to get up and ask some random worker for a box and the check since I can't enjoy my meal, food wasn't bad you guys just can't handle the place getting busy and there's no service whatsoever. i'm at the egg Harbor right here in Orland Park today. The food is excellent however it is extremely loud in the restaurant to the point. You can not carry a conversation with someone across the table from you. Very disappointed. I've never experienced this at any of the other egg harbors before. They need to do something. Greeted with a smile as soon as I walked in. Walked to my friends that were waiting on me. Our waiter Edgar really took care of us even my friend who was a bit much.
