This is a nice mom and Pop place. You can find a nice park on the street and the food was good and the portions are large. The only part that I did not like was that my food came out a little later than my friends were halfway through eating when I finally got my food I was severely hungry. this place can get crowded so I suggest you come early. Check your receipt before departure. Sometimes they get a little confused. Hope you enjoy.

I ordered the taco dinner and got chicken as my meat of choice. I absolutely enjoyed the food, it was flavorful, the staff were super kind and welcoming. And the atmosphere was relaxing, everything was great. I would definitely recommend this place.

Fantastic family owned business is an understatement. My family and I were looking for pancakes on this Sunday morning and we found a hidden gem. Come to find out the business has been around for 25 years. The food was amazing and very tasty. The service was great Luz and Brenda were so friendly, I didn't want to leave. I tried the taco dinner (with steak, chicken and beef tacos) everything was bomb and my daughter had the French toast and egg breakfast which was incredible. Found a park right outside so it was super cool to walk right up and the pricing was reasonable.

Found a hair in my food and was told they couldn't comp me only replace the food. Why would I want the food at that point?

The food is outstanding here. I come here while it's very busy and there's not much room to wait. The service is good.

The hostess was very nice and my waiter was very down to earth and quick on his feet. The photographer was great and it was a great vibe! The seasoning has a hint of Smokey flavor to it that was a little bit off, but definitely good dish. There is a 18% gratuity and yes the food is expensive. I would come back again! Thanks to Toast! My first brunch of the year! It's a Saturday! I heard about Sunday being turnt up. That's cool and all, but Saturday is more of my vibe. R&B and Neo Soul vibe!

Next, no one came to explain the process of having to scan the QR code to get the menu; luckily my friend had been there before so she knew the process. The waitress was nice. however, I requested peach tea and was brought a hot cup of tea when I explained that I wanted it cold and was told they didn't have it, I then preferred lemonade I never got my drink. Now as you can see from the picture everything on my plate looks dry and tasted the same. The turkey sausage looked like it was Johnsonville that had been sitting out for a while. The eggs were dry and had no taste when I added the pepper, which was in a sugar shaker, it caused me to put too much pepper on the eggs believe it or not they still didn't have enough flavor. The salmon croquettes were dry as well and weren't seasoned. When our waitress returned, after we were done with our meal, to ask us if everything was OK I didn't even respond because I didn't want to be a liar. I'll never go back. I don't know if it was the day and time we were there on a Thursday around 12 o'clock or so, but I honestly felt as if we were intruding by being there. I didn't feel welcomed at all. The ambience was not great. I felt more like I was in a cafeteria with fancy seats. A definite...will not return! The two stars was for the company I was with only!!!!

I usually come here for coffee and donuts, but recently I tried a few other things on their menu. We brunch and ordered plenty, but the food missed the mark for me. Beverly Bakery & Cafe was a lot better than we expected at first. Kind of in a not so impressive area to be honest. The atmosphere inside it though has a cozy feeling and the food was impressive with pretty big portions. Basically we were going to a few bars early when we saw this and thought to get something to eat first. It's in a kind of unassuming area with sketchy looking auto shops. The inside is a lot better though. Actually pretty impressed with it. Menu has lots of choices for any preference. Certainly one of the few great places for breakfast around here. It's about $13 for an entree which comes with a lot. Filling. I chose a hearty one, the Vegan Skillet. This has green peppers, mushrooms, onions, potatoes, tomatoes, and zucchini. A lot packed into it. She got the French Toast. Made with soy milk. This comes topped with bananas or blueberries, good stuff. For sure we could go here again. It's closed Mondays. There's plenty to get for vegans and vegetarians.

Now, with that said, let me explain how I arrived at the restaurant ahead of my sister. I asked for a booth and was seated quickly. The waitress brought two cups upside down on saucers and poured coffee into mine while I waited for my sister. Once my sister arrived and turned her mug over, we found lipstick marks on the outside of a supposedly clean mug... okay, no problem. The waitress was appalled and brought another mug. She took our orders. I got a patty melt on rye with mushrooms added, with fries. My sister got the garden skillet with pancakes. It took a while for everything to come. While waiting, I got a cup of cream of chicken & rice soup (too watery and too much lemon), only to have a long hair caught between the bowl and saucer... yes, that went back too. Finally, our food arrived lukewarm. My sister's butter wouldn't melt on her pancakes, so we had to send that back as well. By this point, we just nibbled and chatted. Now the bill comes... $52 for this experience! I'm under the impression that management or ownership has changed hands a few times. I know I won't be returning or recommending this establishment! It may be the original location, or that honor may go to the yet unvisited-by-me third location closer to the Loop, but in any case, this Huck Finn definitely feels different from the one I'm used to. The lighting fixtures, booths, and art all have the same tacky early-2000s feel as the other location, but that's where the similarities end. This one is much smaller, although its dessert-case area has its own tables, and the outside of the building advertises ice cream. This Huck Finn feels like a coffee shop, which is probably why my dad says he likes it more than the "original"--original to us, at least. It has a counter, and while the building looks large from outside, it has about half the seating of Oak Lawn. There's a funky mirror near the bathrooms that makes it look like there's a back dining room--or possibly a Den of Iniquities like the original--but it's all an optical illusion. Service is quick and efficient, as it is at Oak Lawn. Our server, though, was a familiar no-nonsense throwback to an earlier time. Oak Lawn has some of those, but most of its servers are younger women with the thickest Chicago/Great Lakes accents you'll ever hear. (Seriously, although they're all under thirty-five, they sound like they're about to start collecting Social Security.) She was short on small talk, but she made up for it with sass and a whole lot of hard work. The food is good, although the menu is more limited than Oak Lawn's. One thing I don't like is that the menus are flimsy printouts. Oak Lawn at least has laminated pages, although I miss the old multi-page booklet-style menus. Oh well. They have Texas and Alaska donuts here, so it's a legit Huck Finn. It's physically possible to make a left turn onto Pulaski from their parking lot, but I think it's illegal, as you'd have to cross a quadruple yellow line. I spotted two cop cars near here, one when we were arriving, and one when we left, so be careful out there.
