Lean Machine Omelette

Since I work out at a gym in the same strip mall, I finally tried this restaurant. Sounds like it was recently renamed and is under new management. It has an old school feel and definitely needs updating. It was pretty crowded when I was there, but we were seated immediately. It's kind of small and feels like the neighborhood diner. Great prices for the food, decent quality, quick service. If you are looking for a upscale breakfast spot, this isn't it. But, if you want a quick, cheap, casual spot - this is it.

Country fried steak with french toast.Over easy eggs with sausage links and fresh squeezed orange juice too. All delicious.

Was surprised to see Nikos was gone. We hesitated in trying the new Oak Lawn Diner. It turns out it was a pleasant surprise. The service was perfect, very attentive. The owner came around and checked on us numerous times. The food was terrific and generous portions too. The country fried steak was a stand out for sure! Give it a try, I know you will enjoy it.

Thank you to Niko's for sending Christ Emergency Department a breakfast care package for all of our staff! It was a wonderful surprise and were so thankful for the free and delicious delivery! All of the nurses, techs, doctors and staff enjoyed it very much! The food was so good! We all agreed that these were the best scrambled eggs! Thanks again, ED staff

Mall style.

This area was hard to find a breakfast place so when I saw the 4 stars I figured how bad could it be and I stopped by. The place is in a strip mall in the land of never ending strip malls one after the other after the other so parking was fine. The place is dated and on the dive side with it looking well worn was my first impression. It's not the cleanest with splatter on the wall and the glass in the picture in my booth. It looks like a garage sale threw up all over the place with all the country clutter as the decor. At 7:30 it's starting to fill up on a Saturday and it's mostly an older crowd of regulars. You could tell the service was going to be a problem because it was just getting started before the place filled up and I'm just sitting there on my phone waiting for someone to come over, my water took a good five minutes to hit the table. The menu had all the regulars but the country skillet states it's there best seller so I opted for that with scrambled eggs for a change. The skillet looked good with a pile of scrambled eggs on top and a side of country gravy. The skillet was ham, bacon, sausage, cheese, hash browns, green pepper, onion and mushrooms with a side of Greek toast. The skillet hit the table with no toast which she said she would be right back with, I like to start my breakfast with the toast to make a mini sandwich of the plate. I'm sitting there for a good five minutes while my food is getting cold as she is working the tables around me, still forgetting my toast and she finally sees me and says your toast and now I'm just annoyed with the no toast issue. The fluffy scrambled eggs had a weird texture like moist saw dust, kind of mealy which was completely turning me off. The skillet vegys had all the crispness cooked out of them and mushy. The whole breakfast was super average and nothing wowed me in any way. Now I'm just ready for a box and my check so I can leave and I'm still just sitting there and finally I asked the hostess for a box when she seated some people near me. The service here sucked and I could have been on my way much faster from another place I thought. My only high light from the visit was the complementary soup to go that I was offered while paying, they were stacked up next to the register so everyone must get one while paying. It was like a tomato beef barley and nothing special with very little beef but with some crackers it would be ok as a snack.

Worst breakfast I had in my life. To go order and they forgot my pancakes. And then they serve a breakfast that looks like this? Tasted worse than it looks which is hard to believe

Eggs Benedict

Food is delicious! The waitresses are so nice. Cute cozy little diner with alcohol and slot machines. Would go back!

Worst breakfast I have ever eaten. Will never eat here again. I'm going to McDonald's where at least you have a consistent product.

We came to Lawlor's for a fundraiser. The bar was packed but you wouldn't know it by how attentive…read morethe service was. We ordered drinks from the bartender. She was smiley and didn't seem like she was overloaded with requests, even though so many people were belly up to the bar. We took our drinks and found a table. As a vegetarian the menu is limited but I'm from the Midwest and expect this from a neighborhood bar. I ordered the Caesar salad. It was a traditional Caesar salad. My husband got the chicken wrap with tater tot's. Both were fresh and no complaints.

Lawlor's is one of the many such places around here if it wasn't already obvious. A little farther away from the Beverly bars and hangouts. The menu is basic and there's pretty good prices. Basically we walked over here after hitting a few other of the area bars. It's actually in a new location. The older one used to be located closer to 111th and Pulaski. It was a true dive. This one though is a lot more modern looking. Has the same drinks but with food that's also edible. There's still a charm to it though. It's about $5 to get Jameson. There's also plenty on tap. It's about $7 for the Pretzel Bites. Kind of basic with a side of cheese sauce. I used mustard. The rest of the menu has meaty items like pork chops and things like that. Good place to come hang a bit. It's in a new location about a mile away from the old one. This is worth checking out getting away from the more popular places on Western.

First time I came in got southwestern chicken soup. Spicy without being overwhelmingly hot. Lot better than progreessos version of the soup. And a grilled cheese that came with fries. Grilled cheese is an outstanding sandwich one that I don't eat as much since I'm not a kid anymore but it felt all warm, gooey brought back childhood memories. Second time I came got jerk chicken salad. Flavorful, zesty. The jerk chicken didn't have the taste from like an actual jerk place but I liked it. I got the Maplewood fat pug for a beverage. It also looks like they sell beer to go.

My order was taken quickly, customer service was good, and I didn't have to wait long for my food. I ordered the chicken tenders tossed in Nashville hot sauce, fries, ranch on the side, and the Peach, Please! cocktail. The chicken tenders were okay. They were fried a little harder than I prefer, and next time I'd probably get the Nashville hot sauce on the side instead of having them tossed in it. The fries were good, but overall I'd give the food about 3.5/5. Now the Peach, Please! was definitely a 5/5! It was strong, but not overly strong, and very tasty. The flavors were well balanced, and I would absolutely order it again. The cocktail was easily my favorite part of the meal. What I really enjoyed was the atmosphere. It wasn't overly loud, they had nice music playing with an old-school vibe, and I felt completely comfortable dining by myself. No one bothered me, and I could just sit, eat, have my drink, and enjoy my own company. Even the bathroom had personality! It was nice and clean, with cool vintage black-and-white artwork, including photos of Pam Grier and Stevie Nicks. I love when a restaurant carries its vibe into the little details too. Street parking is available and wasn't difficult to find during the time I visited. Atmosphere: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Cocktail: 5/5 Food: 3.5/5 Overall, good service, a comfortable laid-back atmosphere, and a GREAT cocktail. I'd definitely come back, although next time I'm trying something different from the menu...and getting another Peach, Please!
