Been going to this place for over 10 years and have never walked out disappointed. Consistently delicious every time! Staff is always cordial and polite. Dine in area is always clean. My personal favorite is the chicken on a pita! Juicy chicken, fresh ingredients, very filling sandwich and still really affordable! read more

Quick and efficient with food service. Food itself was excellent. The gyro rivaled my favorite place in Oak Lawn at 103rd and Cicero. Gyro meat was not greasy, tzatziki was flavorful and not watery, and the veggies were crisp and fresh. Pita was a little soft and not griddle and was able to hold a good amount of stuff. Fries were crispy and tasty, and were a little thicker than normal. My son enjoyed his burger which was a little larger than your standard one at similar places. The pizza puff was tasty and not too greasy as well. Overall we were glad we tried The Poor Dog and will likely come back to carry out again in the future. read more

I had an Italian beef with hot peppers, very good. Hot crispy fries and a delicious chocolate shake. Very reasonably priced.

Prices have been raised recently. Food and service is still decent but definitely $$ expensive now. Large menu

Always good food! Best chocolate shakes in the neighborhood. Love the beef and the Philly cheesesteak

I had forgotten all about this little gem for years.... Until today!! I was craving a gyro and remembered I tried these gyros years ago and fell in love. When I rekindled my romance with them a few minutes ago, I realized i was still in love. I usually get the gyro plate to share and it comes with enough meat for 2 gyro sandwiches, 2 warm pitas, a great amount of tzatsiki sauce, onions and tomato, and my favorite that not many places do, feta cheese and olives, all on the side so you can build your own sandwich. Ooooh, and did I mention it also comes with fries and a drink. All under $10!!! Customer service is great as well so props to the staff. They're fast, friendly, and on top of their work! Definitely recommend to any gyro lover and anyone who wants good food and good service overall. I moved and am now only about 10 minutes away. I am expecting to gain a good 15 lbs in the near future. read more

After bowling, while searching for where to eat via the internet, this place was suggested, and it we chose to go here. The location if you are not where it is, is right across the street for Marist high school in a little mall. And this place gives you a lot of food choices on their menu, from burgers, hot dogs, mexican food, to dinners which even includes a chicken tender dinner. And they also have combo specials that comes with fries and a 20 oz drink, but I do see they have pop also in cans as well. I opened for a double cheeseburger special, that is $6.99. And I even see for side orders they have chicken biggest that comes in 5 , 15, and 30 pieces. 30 pieces of chicken nuggets they charge for $8.10. Where can you get that many for that low of a price? read more

Stopped by a few times and never had any problems. Tried the hotdog, Italian beef, gyro and chicken sandwich all were great. The fries are seasoned and really good! read more

Great food at great prices. Like most fast food joints that seem to make mistakes on bigger orders, these people are dead on to your customizations. Highly recommended if your a fan of Billy boys restaurant in Oak lawn but live in alsip or border of Oak lawn to avoid the drive. read more

Great food, great prices. Their beef sandwich is cheaper than a lot of nearby options, and they really load it up with beef. Their gyro salad is also a great option, but my favorite item from here is the Souvlaki. Souvlaki is a Greek-style shish kebab with just meat, and they're only $1.50/stick! read more

Arrived just before closing on a Sunday. The workers/owners were very accommodating and stayed open to take care of my order. Tasty and plentiful gyros plate and good cheeseburgers. Will definitely return to try more. read more

Best in town!! I love their chicken tenders and they're burgers are so good! They have the best fries I have ever had anywhere nearby. Their salads are also delicious. The workers are fast and extremely kind and the food isn't even that expensive either like nickys down the street! I come at least once a week and my food is always made fresh, I've never been disappointed with these guys. read more

Best Chicago Style food joint!! I have lived in Chicago my whole life and this by far tops all!! Great food, friendly people, fast, and clean!! LOVE LOVE LOVE. We eat here pretty often and the kids love eating inside too! read more

I really wanted to like this place based on the reviews. Shrimp was over fried and just not tasty. The fries were not worth eating, so they were tossed. Not good to waste food or money for this meal. Hubs ate the Italian beef, plenty of meat but it was bland. read more

Highly disappointed. I have been to several local restaurants similar to this one and this is by far the worse. I tried the chicken wing dinner, and let me just say not appealing. The wings were not even whole wings plus they were fried extremely hard, every bite was a crunchy rock. read more

Love this place. Good price for the amount of food you get. Always made fresh and never disappointed in whatever I have ordered. My favorite by far is the chicken on pita, love their grilled chicken! The brothers are always nice and never have gotten a phone order wrong! Definitely my place of choosing over Nickys now! =) read more

Love this restaurant great food & a nice staff their hot dogs are the best & I am in love with their gyro tacos

Thought I'd give it a try. Ordered double cheese burger and hot dog specials. Burger was over cooked and burnt, outside of bun was over toasted, fries were so-so. Hot dog was just on par with every sub-par place that claims to serve Chicago style dogs. Slim cheap dog on a over seeded bun, I guess that passes as good these days. Nothing special here, YMMV. At least it is better than La Papa's down the street on Pulaski, or that Demon Dawg place nearby. But that is not saying much. When a microwave sits prominently on the ordering counter, you are pretty much guaranteed nothing special at such an establishment. read more
