This happened in March of this year. I'm adding it now after having just downloaded the Yelp app. I was craving a good grilled cheese sandwich. My husband offered to get me one from Sonic. I've had them before and they're tasty. They make them using Texas toast. So, my husband orders on the app and goes to pick up the food. He said the bag felt a little light so he pulled over thinking maybe they forgot something. When he pulled out what was supposed to be my sandwich, it was smaller than usual. He opened it and found what is pictured. My husband went back through the drive thru and was told they were out of Texas toast and they were out of American cheese. This sandwich appears to be some type of shredded white cheese on a puny little hamburger bun. *Sonic staff took it upon themselves to make an inadequate substitution without asking if we were okay with it. They just put this pathetic sandwich in the bag and handed it to my husband. I'm guessing they were hoping it wouldn't be noticed until he was already home. My husband was so upset that he drove off without asking for a refund. This wasn't the first time this Sonic was a subpar experience, but it was the last. We haven't been back and we have no plans on giving them another chance. *Our issue is solely with this particular Sonic Drive-In. We have never had a bad experience with any of the other locations. I was hesitant to order from here due to the horrifyingly bad reviews and pictures of moldy food, but tried it anyway and even ordered delivery against my better judgement. I don't know how I order around $50 worth of food and only receive 1/4 of a tray of tater tots and a drink (thanks for at least leaving me some crumbs a-hole!) Most likely the delivery driver ate my food on the way, but the restaurant took no steps to properly package the food for delivery. Open containers, nothing sealed, no tamper proof anything. Luckily I was able to get a full refund otherwise all hell would've broken loose. Prices on apps are about $2 higher than order on their website which is fine. So much for trying out the "dill pickle" items. Is there no end to these atrocious promos restaurants are doing? Your BEST marketing idea was to partner with a pickle company? Tried to order some food at the restaurant around 8:30pm, waited in a line of cars to be told they're only doing online orders. Couldn't leave because there were cars behind us and in front of us trying to do the same thing. I came here Monday afternoon. They weren't very busy, but the order took a while. I ordered the new pickle fries and I had a Philly cheesesteak. I liked the pickle fries they were good, but they forgot the dipping sauce and the philly cheesesteak really wasn't the best. It was lacking major flavor and I definitely would not get it again. This is a terrible Sonic. I arrived there on a Thursday night after 10:00pm, the drive thru employee had on dirty clothes and looked unclean hygiene wise. She took our cash money gave us back change, headed to grab our food and never put on gloves. She dropped some of the awful burnt fries on the counter and proceeded to pick them up with her hands that were dirty and out them in my bag. Visited today for the 1st time for half price slushes, when you order using the app theybare half price ALL day! Ordered for pick up, advised order would be ready in 5-7 minutes and it was. the order was correct and tasty. Everyone talking about online orders is absolutely correct. We came in and had a terrible experience that took about an hour to receive food. We decided to give it another chance thinking it was a bad night and same exact thing with online orders only. (They said their computer wasn't working). Do not waste your time going to Sonic in Alsip. They do not give you every thing you ordered. I emailed them never heard back from them why. I heard the cook tell the other team member that the order is not complete the order and gave it to me. I through that she put in the bag with out me noticing it. I went by today 04/04/2024 and got the worst customer service ever.(btw this is my first AND LAST TIME getting sonic) It was around 5pm when I went, first you couldn't even order through the drive in section, they made me go through the drive through. ( not bad but still) I started to order and a guy or women couldn't really tell by the voice had an attitude right from that start. I tried to order the Blue Raspberry slush but apparently they're out of it (I find hard to believe) . I asked nicely ( What other ones do you have available) They worker on the intercom said (THE SCREEN IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU LOOK) I was shocked and just told them ( you have an attitude go fuck yourself) and left. I decided to give Sonic a try for breakfast, as I have never been there in the morning. I ordered the SuperSonic Breakfast Burrito. It was extremely mediocre. I pulled out a half a slice of tomato that was not very ripe. It looked inedible. Didn't find any jalapenos until I was half done. Despite having a lot of ingredients (eggs, sausage, onions, tomatoes, cheeses and jalapeno), the thing was pretty tasteless. If I hadn't added the picture sauce, I think I would have been done after a couple of bites. The tater tots weren't even as good as I could make at home. The Diet Dr. Pepper was fine. Now that I know what breakfast is like at Sonic, I doubt I will be back. I only ate about half of my burrito, and tossed quite a few tots. It's back to McDonald's for me. To start, when this place opened up I was really excited; I haven't had sonic or their famous shakes in forever and it's right down the street vs a 30 minute drive to almost every other location. But things went south very quickly. The staff has always been lazy every visit and every visit they have been out of ice cream as well, as early as 5pm too! I've tried probably around 15 different times since the place has opened all at various times throughout the day.
