When we lived in Palos Hills, we used to go to Windy City Subs very often. Probably once a week and it has always been a treat. Prices are reasonable and everything tastes pretty great. Today I shared a Reuben sandwich with an order or butter garlic fries with the hubby and it was absolutely fantastic! Nice and hot and crispy. Will continue to visit this place if I'm ever in the area. One of the things that makes me a bit sad now that I've moved. Gyros Plate with fries piled on Chicago Style. Meal comes hearty enough to grab extra pita and enjoy 2 good size sandwiches. Cashier was prompt and professional. Nice seating area to eat, Also Soda machine still out front for a refill, something getting more scarce as retailers have started hiding condiments ect behind register. Just moved in around the corner from this place and I seen all the yelp reviews so we gave it a try. The restaurant is very clean and staff super friendly. Stopped by on a whim a few days ago. This place has been here forever but I finally stopped to see if the food is as good as I'm told it is!! So let me start by saying that getting your food is no issue. Drive-thru works nicely, but be warned that the traffic on 111th can be loud so you might not be able to hear as well. The food is standard fare: burgers, hot dogs, fries, things of that nature. I ordered the hot dogs, a double cheeseburger and garlic fries. The hot dogs were not mine, but they were good (I got a bite! )! The garlic fries were to die for, they were that good!! Let me warn you all also: they don't skimp on the fries. They give you a LOT!!! I am 238 pounds and I could not finish them! Now for the double cheeseburger, it was good, but my only criticism is that there was so much lettuce (which can have a higher water content) on the bread that the bottom bun got soggy. Let me be clear, the burgers were nicely done, though. So maybe they can go easy on the lettuce in general? Anyhow, I'll definitely go back. So this was the first time i've eaten here and the line was out to the street. However, these employees were timely with orders during peak hours. I ordered a Gyro meal so it came with fries and a fountain drink. The fries and sandwich were very tasty and fresh. The meat was very fresh and flavorful. The fries were crispy and salty to my liking. I would eat here again. I've taken photos of their current prices and menu items and they have a nice selection. Wow. I am so happy I finally made my way to Windy City after driving by it on my commute for many years. Basically, I wanted a gyro, and I wanted to dine in. This place is so clean, it's gleaming, and the sunlight just pours in. I don't know of a fast food place with a dining room this nice. Not a single crumb in sight. Really. It was so peaceful too; the energy was just right. Ok. The food. Amazing. I don't eat fast food often, so when I do I want it to be worth it. My meal was made to order, and it came out so hot and fresh. I enjoyed every bite. All the while, the staff was working together nonstop. Never a moment of nothing for them. Whether they were cooking, cleaning, stocking, they were moving the entire time. They were so pleasant and happy. Makes me think they like working there. Most establishments are short staffed. Wow, that beef & sausage combo was excellent today. In my past couple of visits I ordered the gyros special and was really satisfied both times. It was time for a change so I went with the combo, small fries and medium soft drink, totaling a little over $14.00 and the food was definitely right on. The beef was sliced very thinly, just the way I like it, seasoned nicely and HOT, temperature wise. There was a good amount of beef placed over a nice sized link of Italian sausage and that also was cooked just right. If you dig shoestring fries you'll like these because they're served fresh and hot. For my money, Windy City Subs is heads above the various places I've tried since Dukes on Harlem closed, and you could never accuse Dukes of being overly clean and comfortable. And as I said in a previous review, this place is clean from the floor to the tables & chairs to the windows. Most beef stands just go through the motions. If you want truly good food try blowing off your regular spot and give W.C. Subs a try, even if you have to drive a bit further. read more

I wasn't overly impressed by the butter garlic fries. You get a lot of fries for 3 bucks and some change but my expectations were pretty high because a lot of people tend to hype them up but they were just ok to me. I really liked my tuna sub, it was good and you get a nice amount for the price and they give you the option of 3 sizes, depending on how hungry you are.
