I've always wanted to go to this restaurant because the parking lot is always packed when I pass. Never had time to stop but today I got the opportunity and based on my experience I should have kept driving by. While my service was excellent my food was horrible and overpriced! I ordered the mini breakfast 1 egg omelette Denver style which came with hash browns and your choice of toast or one pancake. Their coffee is horrible. It lacks a real coffee flavor and was weak. The food arrives at the the table. The pancake was flat but tasted okay. Both of our omelette s were like rubber, dry and crumbled! My hash Browns were just okay and they were the highlight. That $28.00 tab was all I needed to know that I will NOT revisit this establishment. read more

A pretty ideal place to grab breakfast or lunch when you're in the area. My GF's mother has been friends with the owner, George, for many years. George would be the giant handlebar mustachioed Greek guy. I finally met him for the first time, and he seems like a cool dude. Although I must admit that huge old bearded and mustachioed white guys make me a little nervous. I digress. Their menu is quite extensive. So much so that you may have trouble making up your mind on what to order. That was the case with me. But off the bat I knew I wanted the soup of the day, which is cream of chicken on Sundays. I've really taken a liking to cream of chicken soup recently, and they make it very good here! Then I eventually opted for the "Border Skillet", which you can probably guess by the condescension of the whole "border" ordeal that it has a Mexican twist to it. Said skillet consisted of cooked vegetables including onions, fresh jalapenos, salsa and potatoes. On top of that was steak and two eggs which I ordered over-easy. Overall it was very tasty and good. Not out-of-this-world good to where adding condiments would be deemed blasphemous. It could be because I absolutely demand ketchup on my fried potatoes, and I put Lousiana hot sauce on everything when available. But whatevs. Those things made it taste even better to me. A solid three and a half star place in my world. If you're craving breakfast and she's craving a sandwhich, Eggmans is a good place to go because of it's variety. The first time we ate here the hash browns were much better than average, the bacon, average, and the eggs cooked properly. The next time, one egg was perfectly cooked, and the other was barely cooked at all, just about dropped raw onto the hash browns. The egg white was perfectly clear and had dripped to the bottom of the breakfast skillet. Maybe it was an off morning there, but we won't be back after almost eating a forkful of hash browns soaked in raw egg white and throwing up. I'd give it one star, but our first visit was about 3 stars, so I averaged them. read more

Have been here a number of times and have never been disappointed. The food on the last two occasions was a tad bit more oily than it has been in the past, but it still tasted great. A co worker said lets go here for lunch. Ok, it was fairly crowded and we were greeted right away. Then a waitress walks up and grabs 2 menus and starts walking away. She finally turns around and gives me a look like why are you not following me. I'm sorry but trying saying follow me. After a few minutes she comes back and takes our orders. We both went for the romaine salad. Well it was just that, lots of romaine, some eggs and a heaping of onion. You really cant screw up salad but a little less onion and more of something would have made this a much better choice. As for the price way to expensive or maybe it was for the onion. Service started bad but she seemed to cheer up. As I was paying to leave the owner came by and shook my hand and thanked us for stopping in. This place is really good. They have another smaller location called George's on 117/Pulaski, too. This one on 127 is bigger & fills up fast in the morning & on a Sunday. I like everything on the menu, haven't ordered anything I didn't like. Coffee is endless & yes there is often a complimentary soup offered... Either that or complimentary donuts. I had potato pancakes and they were out of the box, so don't expect fresh made ones. However, they were pretty good. I had to drop my car off for service at a nearby dealership...didn't know how long it would be so I called a friend to pick me up for breakfast. I checked my phone for nearby breakfast restaurants (really wanted an omelette) m. Most of the reviews were positive! However there was one that stood out...the one where the cockroach joined the couple!!! Being the second chance queen that I am, I figured, surely they have gotten this problem corrected by now that was a couple of months ago! Well I am here to inform you that they have not!!! I gave 2 stars because our waitress was good and they give free soup with every meal,which was definitely the highlight of the visit. I'll give this a high rating because I've never been disappointed by the food. I read the reviews below and a lot of it doesn't apply, especially the quality of the food let alone the graffiti. The place is clean and the waitresses are all super nice. Coffee is still bottomless, George still has a crazy mustache and does come around to thank people, or sees you out. Every time I've gone there the soup and juice were complimentary and delicious. You can tell the soup is made there and not out of a can. I always go there for breakfast with friends, orders come out fast even when the place is packed. The quantity and quality of what you pay for is great. We live in MI. 140 miles away we have been to Ohare Airport 6 times this year ran upon Charlies by accident stopped there for lunch and now we make sure that when we go to Ohare all of our meals are at Charlies. We have two more planned trips to Ohare on Aug 24th and Sept 10th guess where we will be eating. We love the place found it very clean and the prices are very reasonable, as far as the bathrooms I read in an earlier post that they were very small they have 2 bathrooms a small one in the back but a very nice larger one in front. I will be back even if I just get in the car and drive there for lunch and back to MI. I rate it 5 stars very clean and a GREAT STAFF. read more

I've been going to this restaurant for over thirty years. The owner is George and everyone knows him by his unusual mustache. He provides free newspapers, free soup and should one really take the time to understand this location a 10% discount on any purchase over $5.00. If you happen to meet any server or busboy that you find unpleasant the chances are you entered the restaurant looking for trouble to begin with. The place as reported by some reviews is not Roach infested. Could it happen? Of course, it does to any Restaurant that has food delivered to its entry area and most honest owners would admit it. Yelp reviews need to be fair. George has good fair prices and unlike most other restaurants you do not pay extra on the weekends, more for raisin toast or special requests such as acknowledging ones birthday with a special piece of cake and a song.
