Route 66 signs, Coca-Cola decorations, black-and-white checkered floors. Felt like one of those old roadside diners from the 1950s. Honestly, the place has so much personality, not just another ice cream shop. The people working there were super friendly and nice too, which made it even better. I kept it simple and got a chocolate scoop in a waffle bowl. The ice cream was super creamy and refreshing. The chocolate flavor was rich but smooth. Classic old-school chocolate taste, deep cocoa flavor with that creamy finish that stays on your tongue after each bite. The waffle bowl added a nice crunch and that fresh waffle smell made the whole thing even better together. Simple order, but it really hit the spot. Definitely one of those places you come back to just for the vibe alone.

We came in for shakes and left completely blown away. I had the churro shake, my sons had the banana and Oreo -- all three were incredible. Not your average ice cream shop shakes. These things are next level. The shop also has a very cool old school ice cream shop vibe. But honestly, what made the experience was the two people working. A young lady and a young man who were both so attentive, patient, and genuinely helpful. They let us try a few flavors before we ordered, walked us through everything, and never made us feel rushed. That kind of customer service is rare anywhere, let alone at an ice cream shop. If you're in the area and haven't been here yet, you're missing out. We'll definitely be back. Highly recommend.

This is a cute little downtown area, and unfortunately, it's barren on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Which worked well for us as we showed up and no one was there. Just us, which gave us plenty of time to sample the various flavors, and chat with the person working in this cute little ice cream shop. They can make all these cute shakes and sundaes with all kinds of toppings, but seeing as we aren't young kids, there's no way we could eat confections such as what I listed above. Instead, we got to try their various flavors. Thinking back, I believe I got a watermelon ice cream. I could be wrong. However, I do remember how juicy, fruity, and sweet the ice cream was. Not sweet like overly sweetened lemonade that puckers one's lips, but like the sweet sensation of a perfectly ripe watermelon, bursting with succulent. flavor. It was like that. And man was it good! If I lived in Riverside or close by, I would be there all the time. So thankfully, we were out for a drive and wanted some ice cream and found this cute little shop. They have a few small tables inside, but what makes this a town square right out of the 1950s are the cute little wireframe tables and chairs they had outside along the sidewalk so you can sit and enjoy your cone, and people watch. And we did just that. If I'm nearby again someday, I'll definitely pop in and grab a delicious cone. There flavor options were plentiful, whimsical, and flavorful. However, for the time being, I'll just post this review and hope others pop in to enjoy the cones and flavors they're providing.

My daughter did not like the strawberry banana smoothie she ordered. The young lady who helped us was cordial but not particularly friendly. The other girl behind the counter spent almost the entire time we were there (we ate our ice cream at a table inside) chatting with a female customer who she obviously knew. I also accidentally tipped my cup over at the register and about half of my whipped cream fell out onto the counter. I told the young lady who served us what happened, apologized and tried to clean it up a bit with some napkins. She only mentioned she could clean it - in hindsight it would have been nice if she had offered to give me a bit more to replace what I lost but that never happened. When she was done charging us, she then came out from behind the counter and sat and chatted with another third young lady who was there (possibly another worker?). It just gave an unprofessional vibe and I do wish more adults in businesses would provide the young adults with some guidance and lessons in good customer service within the hospitality industry.

They have a lot of flavors that can be eaten in cups, waffle/sugar/or plain cones, or in the form of shakes/malts. They also have banana splits, traditional sundaes, and floats/sodas. Plus other treats like gourmet popcorn and chocolate dipped bananas. The inside is decorated so cute! It's painted vintage lavender-pink and white. There are cute photos and a mural on the wall depicting the Sherman's ice cream they serve which provides a modernly executed old-fashioned charm. I liked the vintage ice cream wrapper puzzle framed on the wall (pictured.) We loved the ice cream. What they do right with their product is the wide selection of flavors. Lately Oberweiss has severely limited their selection (a lot of places have....category management was the necessity of the past decade). But it's ICE CREAM! When you go out, into downtown Hinsdale no less, you have come to expect greatness, gourmet, top-of-the-game kind of food situations. This assortment of flavors, cones, toppings, etc. brings that essence to the going out for ice cream experience but doesn't toss out the folksy soda-shop charm that goes so well with it (and doesn't make it feel forced, either.) This business so gets all of that. Nice job!
