Mr. Submarine - Wich I had more pics of all the sub trays - Sandwiches Near Me - Berwyn, Illinois

This location reopened about a year ago under new management. New management has run it into the ground. My sub was not good, tables dirty and they charged me .35 cents for tap water? WTF. Also, no greeting from unfriendly employee when I walked in I knew I should have stuck to the other Berwyn location on Ogden. This location will probably close again soon read more

This location is under new management and you'll see the difference as soon as you walk through the door. It's cleaner, brighter and doesn't smell like spoiled food like before. I ordered my sub and it even looked better than before everything looked fresh and very tasty. After one bite I now see what I've been missing in a great tasting sub. My advice go and try for yourself you won't be disappointed. I'm very glad I did and I'll be back as often as possible. read more

Mr. Submarine - Sandwiches Near Me - Berwyn, Illinois

The guy in this Mr. Sub (I think it's just this one guy...all the time), works harder than anyone at any 'real' Sub-Shop than I've ever seen. (I won't even mention those pre-fab suck-holes...Quiznos or Subway) He makes every sub as if HE was the one that was going to be eating it. He puts a lot of care & Love into every sandwich he makes, and it really shows! An Italian 12" with a cup of Giardinere on the side (no extra $), and you're really good to go! Might as well order 2 or 3, because they're so damn good, you'll want another one 4 or 5 hours afterward! God Bless a local, genuine Sub Shop that is NOT a Subway, or a Quiznos! Peace...MJ read more

Mr. Submarine - I Eat...then I play...then I eat again! - Sandwiches Near Me - Berwyn, Illinois

First time I've finally got to try a Mr. Submarine and wow... tasty. Went there with my aunt for a bite since we were in the area. The restaurant was pretty clean over all. I think the only reason it might *seem* a bit dingy is because the building looks like it's been around for a while. Didn't stop us from walking in though. Since I've never been to a Mr. Submarine before I just got the sub with the name on it... I figure ya can't go wrong with that. The Mr. Submarine was delicious, just the right amount of everything on it. Bread was good, nothin fancy or anything but, nice 'n soft with good texture. I got to try some of the Tuna Sub, also pretty good too. Oh there's also some Arcade games - Cruisin' the World, The Simpsons and a Monopoly Pinball game too. I think the only issue I can see with this place is the building... it's old, dingy, needs a facelift but, other than that I like it. read more

Stop in Sunday to get a Sub and a guy sitting in the lobby on his cell phone jumped up and said what can I get you. I ordered and he started to make it. I asked him if he could wash his hands because he was just typing on his phone. He said my hands are clean I informed him you were on your phone. He refused to wash his hands. I asked him where is the old guy thats aways here, he angrily said I am the owner now. I been buying here for 15 years. Never again! read more

App never let me know when order was on its way. Amazon made a delivery and rang my bell food had been sitting on porch and was cold i ordered hot subs. Food was good after it was warmed up. Not sure why delivery person didn't even ring the bell i later looked at cameras to find the delivery guy just dropped it on porch food was sitting there for almost 20 minutes. But again the saNdwiches were good and better than any subway sandwich by far. Otherwise 3.5 to 4 stars read more

I used to frequent Mr. Submarine on 26th St. in the 1990's when my dad lived a block from it. I always got the King-sized "Mr. Sub" and an order of cheese sticks. These days I think Mr. Sub is just okay. It's cheap and filling, but you can find a better sandwich elsewhere. I think the reason I liked going here is not only was the chow consistent, but I found it amusing that no matter what time of day you go, the same fuckin' dude would be working the counter. He'd take your order, make your sammich, take your cash and thank you for your business. I went back this year and the same dude took my order, made my sammich, took my cash and thanked me! He must have a twin brother or there may just be a cloning operation going on in east Berwyn. read more

This Mr. Sub is a one-man operation, and that man takes his work seriously. Every sub, and every side order of junk food, is prepared carefully, painstakingly, methodically, and deliberately. Sure, it takes a teensy bit more time than it would at other Mr. Subs, but you can entertain yourself with the tantalizing posters on the wall: a cheese stick with a plaid sport coat and pompadour, with the caption, "If you think used car salesmen are cheesy, wait till you try our cheese sticks!" And an Alice in Wonderland themed ad for breaded mushrooms: "Create your own wonderland with our breaded mushrooms!" This Mr. Sub also seems to have year-round chili (it's "seasonal" at other Mr. Subs), and chili cheese fries which, when prepared with the employee's care, are better than most. The sides menu also boasts a "six piece" order of macaroni and cheese--huh? If I have a qualm, it's that he's not as liberal with the Mr. Sub oil as the crew on Ogden Ave. is. read more

This sub place is amazing i really dont like subs in general but man these subs are goood. I usally get the meatball sub thats if they have em. If you go here you have to try a pizza pop its like a way unhealthier version of a hot pocket but crispy and tasty. And honestly the prices arent that bad read more

Never tried Mr. Submarine. My partner said it was really good so we decided to order. We both ended up with food poisoning the day after.

I was here here today with my girlfriend and this young Hispanic kid was working there today and serviced us really well, the only bad thing is which has nothing to do with him is he was the only one there so he had to answer the phone and he was on the phone with another customer and I feel since I was there first in person that the customer that is there physically should be serviced first and not ignored while taking a call from a customer who only calls , this customer on the phone should have to wait until I'm done and out of the store and then this kid can take the call but this kid told me that his boss wants him to do that and that is bad business and many other customers won't tolerate this and walk out. I rate many restaurants and retail stores and the physical customers always comes first cause they are the ones that took the time to go there in person ! If the phone people can't go there in person then they just have to wait to be serviced anyways. These are work ethics that this owner should learn. As a senior advisor for Tripadvisor I rate this business 5 stars cause of this worker being young but doesn't understand this yet but he was great with his service to me and he was very kind and patient with me and my girlfriend and even the idiot on the phone . read more

This spot is very underrated. For one person to do all the work, the employees do their best! The owner George is a great guy, he has been there for almost 20-25 years! Subs are great and super cheeseburgers. Remember, this is a Sub shop. So not everything besides a sub on the menu is going to be amazing. Definitely give a Mr Sub or a combo a try! read more

Underrated place. Has to be the best subs out there and both the Hispanic boys who work there are hustlers they try to take everyone's orders as quick as possible, and it's only one person behind the register working! Great place they have great music and love how they talk to you and try to make your day better! Awesome place! read more

I LOVE Mr. Submarine! It's cheap, quick, consistent, and this location is walkable from my house. I have to say I don't stray very far from my turkey sub and fries when ordering there but between my friends and I, I have tried a few different sandwiches and everything's good. You always know what to expect from Mr. Sub and I like that. Mr. Sub I definitely my favorite sandwich spot! read more

Horrible! I love mr.sub but this one sucked! The quality was awful! The one on ogden is the best! Definitely worth the extra drive to the one on ogden! read more

Good subs and fries. Nothing super great for vegetarians but the cheese and veggie sub is pretty tasty.

This is the greatest place in the area for a sub or a gyro and fries, the man that works there George is awesome, the pastrami sub is amazing,so is the roast beef. And he has plenty of cold drinks to choose from.I have been eating there since the place opened,i would not be caught dead in a subway. read more

Aye, three weeks later a representative was nice enough to get back to me. No huge deal, and I appreciate them contacting me. They explained that the owner of that Mr. Sub changed the hours within the store recently, and just hadn't updated the web site. In order to avoid confusion though, I suggest posting the hours on the door! read more

Very good food everyone needs to come here the prices are really good and the service is fast and the chicken wings are the best

This has to be the worst Mr. Submarine shop I've ever been to. I have been there years before and always thought that the cheese fries and nachos need some serious re-thinking. The sandwiches are fine, not much different from the other shops but when you're looking to go there for a meal and want an order of fries and a cup of cheese with it, forget about it. The fires are greasy and lack all crispyness. They're limp, julienne sliced potato sticks that have more oil in them than flavor. The cheese for the fries and nachos is so watered down. Its runny and ruins everything you put it on. This location is my last choice for Mr. Submarine. read more

This is one of my favorite places. I have been coming here forever. Can't say I ever had a bad sandwich from here. In my opinion best subs ever. read more

Great place to get a sub at a low price. Even though you do not waste a lot of money, employees there make sure to get the best out of your money. Fresh cut fries are the best there. I was even surprised they still had green river around (one of my favorite drinks). I've lived in the area and have never seen this small business. the 2 Hispanic employees are fenomenal and they treat you like at home. Great conversationalists. I would 100% give this restaurant a go for it is great for a nice calming place and great place to take your kids since they have classic arcade games such as galaga and Pac-Man read more

Overdue review. I was in the mood for a good sandwich a few times over the last couple weeks. Mr. Sub hit the spot each time. Can't go wrong. My sandwich was made exactly as requested each time and the customer service was top notch. Last time I was there, the woman before me left her credit card and the worker chased her down to give it back. Major kudos! read more

Classic subs. I used to live nearby about 20 years ago and I was a regular. I moved out of the neighborhood, so this was my first time back in about 5 years. Still the same, if not better! Fresh bread (Turano), fresh vegetables(onions are key), combined with homemade (ask the owner) dressing, makes this a winner, even if it were without the meat. Get the classic "Mr. Sub." Awesome. read more

I wish the health department would check out the cleanliness of this place. I didn't want to eat my sandwich after seeing how many violations I saw in the kitchen area. It looks like the floors haven't been mopped in months. Make sure you order the Cross Contaminated Sub! Mmmm yummy! I'm sure this place was at one point taken care of but it is a disgusting, dirty hole that needs a good scrub down and for god sake if your going to keep adding to the scum layers put up a wall hiding your disgusting kitchen. read more
