I may try to go one more time just to see it at a different time and day to see if it is better. I scheduled my order, I drive from 40 minutes out, I would expect my order to be ready on time if not 5 min after it's supposed to be ready at most if they really needed the extra time to bag up the order. I ended up waiting about 15-20 minutes after I let them know I was picking up. It's not like they had no idea about the order either because I had called after placing the online order to change a drink & confirm the order was in their system. It's not the first time I've ordered from here either. It's the first time they have prepared my food in front of me when it was made for pickup. I would've just sat down & ate my food in the restaurant if that were the case. I don't think they handled my order correctly this time. I'm not happy with that, but the food didn't miss. This cafe is truly a hidden gem in the neighborhood. When I'm in Cicero this is a must stop for me. It's such an adorable place to catch up with friends. I can see tell you where the bad reviews are coming from. Today I tried the horchata frappe. It was soooo good!! I have been searching for one that didn't taste like the packaged horchata and this is it! Will definitely come back for more. The crepa I had was so refreshing with a hint of sweet, it was truly perfect. They do not have enough staff for the volume of customers, which leads to bad service. I agree I have been in this situation. But come on people let's just appreciate those who show up, the staff is nothing but sweethearts. I've only ever ordered to go. The inside of the Cafe is always very clean. They also keep the outdoor patio area clean. They play a variety of music. Their milkshakes and other cold drinks are delicious and they make em so fancy. Their staff, for the most part, is polite and friendly. As long as the younger male is there, ordering in English isn't a problem. Otherwise, I just show them on the menu what I want. The only issues I ever had was when I ordered a plain cheeseburger for my grandmother I received a hamburger. They said that's what a plain cheeseburger is. Another time I ordered burger with everything except onion. They gave me onions. When I brought it back in, all they did was open the container and pull off the onions from the burger. I now use Google translate to order. That seems to work well. read more

Don't waste your time. Came with my husband and he ordered the chilaquiles with meat. To our surprise the steak was cold, I mean extremely cold like the meat had been seating out there overnight (it was early). Fine, I told the server the meat was cold and she took it back. They then sent the cook to bring the new plate with burnt meat and she has the audacity to question that the meat was cold. She came to tell me the sour cream is what made the meat cold. No Ms. the meat was cold and rubberish. My husband was upset to begin with but when she came to question what we said he had it. My mother ordered a plate as well and her potatoes were cold as well. The food is NOT fresh and they put their clients at a health risk. They need to stop questioning clients complaints and do something about what they're doing wrong. read more

I started with a cafe de la olla and was surprised when it came with a buñuelo as a side treat. The torta de adobo is very good and it comes with a side of chips and it was very nice. Wife had an awful experience. Not all Mexicans are born with the luxury of speaking Spanish fluently. To feel racism in any establishment nowadays should not be okay. Times have changed and so to ignore this kind of behavior without using the source's we have in place would be criminal in itself. Whoever the owner is I hope that they can look closely into the personnel they have working for them because they are the ones that can actually make or break an establishment that has so much potential for success. This morning I went to have breakfast here while waiting for my son finish with his friend's Quincnera practice. I was excited to try this place out and support their business. However, my experience was very disappointing and uncomfortable. I felt very ostracized because I didn't speak SPANISH. I am a Mexican woman and it should NEVER be assumed that any person speaks a native language due to their ethic background. The waitress never came to ask me if I needed anything or if my food was okay. Common courtesy is UNIVERSAL in ALL languages. I will NEVER return to this place! My husband and I ordered 2 omelets (steak & chicken). We specifically asked for no pork! After receiving our plates we discover both omelets have chunks of ham in them. We told the server there was ham in our food and she proceeded to insult our intelligence and tell us they were tomatoes. I said these are clearly not tomatoes and picked it up with a fork. Then she proceeds to insult our intelligence again and say it's turkey. I then explained that not only do we not eat pork for religious reasons, my husband is highly allergic to pork. She continued saying it was turkey even though they don't even sell turkey according to her upon ordering. My husband asked for his omelet to be taken off. The lady refused, claiming she would get in trouble by her boss. So I called the police. It wasn't until then they offered to take it off the bill as I'm sure they then realized lying and playing with people's health could cost them their restaurant. The fact that they would rather risk someone's health than to say they made a mistake is shocking and frankly concerning. I value restaurants that genuinely care about their customers.
