I love this shop for its prices and quality of food. Although something like the bathrooms, for example, needs to be fixed and cleaned.

This is an absolute 5 star place for me. I have been here probably 20-30 times before, yet have not…read morereviewed it. Maybe because it already receives so much positive attention, it hardly needs my two cents. But after this latest visit, I decided to "pile on" with my love for this place. First, I must alert you to pay attention to their hours, because they are closed Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. I kicked myself at least once, when I made the 40 minutes drive from home, just to find that I forgot that they were closed that day. This store is a double threat - offering a great take home Italian deli with a plethora of fresh and frozen items for you to prepare at home. This is also a great spot for lunch, with legendary sub sandwiches, and an array of hot dishes to choose from. I often do both. On this visit, from the deli, I picked up some of their marvelous, thinly sliced breaded eggplant, which I always get when I'm there. I bring some to my ex-wife and daughter who love it as well. Just give it a quick cook in the oven, and it's delicious. I also got some of their marvelous breaded potato salad, which is old-fashioned homemade style. From the hot bar, I got a couple of Italian sausage and some meatballs. I buy these ready to eat, but take them home to use for dinners later. That way I don't have to cook them. Obviously, they offer both meatballs and Italian sausage in fresh or frozen as well, which I get when I'm preparing my mom's spaghetti recipe. This time, I decided to try a quart of their frozen Nottoli homemade marinara, which I hadn't tried before. So delicious! I had pasta and spaghetti with sausage that night, and pasta and meatballs the next. On my various trips here, besides the Italian sausage that they are famous for, as well as the meatballs, I like their olives and other salad items, the sandwiches, brocciole, and many other hot Italian dishes for lunch. The rigatoni w/vodka sauce is a killer. Finally, the people have always been wonderful , which is very important to me. Despite being busy, it is well organized and you're in and out of there in no time (or you can sit at the table inside if you want to eat in). The prices are extremely reasonable, and I'm always pleased about the value I get for such a good price. I apologize for no pictures on this review. I always just seem to be focused on my own mouth watering choices, as opposed to a Yelp review when I come here.

They had the jars of marinate mushrooms, lots of pickles and best of all, their bakery and deli selection. Everything looked well stocked, clean and organized. The cookies and cake/breads looked fantastic. I asked for a recommendation and the young lady behind the counter said the apple cake was her favorite. Ok, I'm game. It was tasty! Not overly sweet and not too soggy with a crumbly topping. I headed to the sausage case because that's what I was really there for. An older nice lady helped me and when she didn't understand or wanted to ask me something, she called the young bakery girl again. Not a problem! I got my sausage shrink wrapped/sealed for an extra 80 cents. I was happy! The check out young guy was nice and overall, I only had really great service. I've been to a few Polish stores and it's not that they're rude, they are not always equipped to translate. Don't get intimidated, point and try? And go back for more! You can't lose and the prices are really reasonable.

I tried a cherry turnover, cheese danish turnover, and raspberry danish. The cherry turnover was huge and so flaky. The bread was soft and covered in sugar while the cherry inside was very fresh and sour. One of those could be shared among a few people. The raspberry danish was also very well made as the bread was incredibly soft and dense. The raspberry was again fresh and the whole thing was quite large. The cheese danish turnover wasn't so great. It was quite bland and didn't really taste like anything. Overall, the fruit pastries were the best and huge items for very cheap. I'll have to come back and try some of their savory food items!

I can care less whether or not English is the primary language used or spoken in any place. Herman Deli has a very extensive selection on soups, stews, entrees, side dishes, sausages, and other meat products. They also carry some light grocery items just in case you need to restock them. I don't speak Polish at all, but I felt just fine. My Asian look and stature stood out in the crowd, yet who cares? I could only understand "flaczki," meaning "tripe" from the soup section in the refrigerator. While I was browsing through their deli counter, I lost my queue in the "imaginary" line leading to the register. Once again, it was what it was. I pointed to what I wanted, and might not have any clue with the contents. I would try everything and eventually figure out what they are and remember their names in Polish. They do accept Visa and MasterCard cards, uncertain if there is a minimum purchase requirement. I had some spare cash so it didn't matter as much.

It really is a Deli, not a restaurant, but they have a hot food case and it's packed with real Polish food - not just the kind of stuff you find at a restaurant but what I imagine many Polish people eat at home. I really haven't been familiar with much of what's in the case but everything I've tried is great. And the price is insanely low! I always know I can pop in and get a quick, filling lunch for 5 bucks.
