But the food itself was just not edible. They kindly brought over the blonde male manager to process a refund, and that's where things went downhill. He was extremely rude and dismissive. I remained polite, but he clearly didn't care about the experience or the quality of what was served. Honestly, he should've been embarrassed--there's no way he would have eaten what I was given. Overall, a horrible experience saved only by the professionalism of the frontline staff. Management, especially the manager I interacted with, was the real disappointment.

I think $6.60 for a fresh juice and $7.85 for a fresh fruit smoothie is probably the going rate in this area. That price is too high for me to be a regular thing, but I enjoy one once a month.

This compared to Tomato Mountain Farm, which has pretty much every vegetable or fruit that grows in this region, or Prairie Food Coop in Lombard, or any of half a dozen coops in the city, not to mention the farmers markets. Also, at all of these places, you know exactly where the fruits and vegetables are coming from, which has never been the case here. (Even when they did have local produce, the farm it came from wasn't mentioned.) Their bulk and spices section is still great, as are their bakery items, such as their regular deliveries from Publican. But I mainly shop for fruits and veggies, so there's not a reason, anymore, for me to come here regularly.

But hopefully after my review, the company makes some changes. Now, this is not to say Herbalife products don't work or aren't helpful. That I wouldn't know as I've never bought into it (well except today I supposed). That's my second issue with this place. There is no signage in store or on their Instagram page that this is Herbalife based. This is also wrong. A: if you are a proud business owner, why not tell everyone what the main foundation of your company is? B: it is dangerous not to disclose what is going into your drinks i.e. nuts, soy, dairy etc. My family was beyond stoked that we were getting a smoothie joint near the area, and walking distance too! But unfortunately this is not a smoothie bar, where you can pick and choose ingredients like fruits, milks or powders. This is worrisome because no one asked if we had any allergens. What if someone walks in who does and they think they are just getting a regular blueberry smoothie with regular milk? Very very dangerous. There are no nutritional labels near the menu or on the actual cups. This should also be disclosed. My cousin ended up going home with some carrot cake roll slices and a round of the sourdough. The menu has something for everyone and there's a nice patio for warmer weather.
