Having never been to downtown Riverside, I didn't know what to expect. Especially since a lot of…read moremom and pop ice cream shops tend to have Maggie Moo's ice cream. This is a cute little downtown area, and unfortunately, it's barren on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Which worked well for us as we showed up and no one was there. Just us, which gave us plenty of time to sample the various flavors, and chat with the person working in this cute little ice cream shop. They can make all these cute shakes and sundaes with all kinds of toppings, but seeing as we aren't young kids, there's no way we could eat confections such as what I listed above. Instead, we got to try their various flavors. Thinking back, I believe I got a watermelon ice cream. I could be wrong. However, I do remember how juicy, fruity, and sweet the ice cream was. Not sweet like overly sweetened lemonade that puckers one's lips, but like the sweet sensation of a perfectly ripe watermelon, bursting with succulent. flavor. It was like that. And man was it good! If I lived in Riverside or close by, I would be there all the time. So thankfully, we were out for a drive and wanted some ice cream and found this cute little shop. They have a few small tables inside, but what makes this a town square right out of the 1950s are the cute little wireframe tables and chairs they had outside along the sidewalk so you can sit and enjoy your cone, and people watch. And we did just that. If I'm nearby again someday, I'll definitely pop in and grab a delicious cone. There flavor options were plentiful, whimsical, and flavorful. However, for the time being, I'll just post this review and hope others pop in to enjoy the cones and flavors they're providing.

The prices were good, I got a one scoop sundae for $5.72 plus tax. My daughter ordered single churro sundae that was $7.80 plus tax. We were waited on by Carmen who was very helpful with her suggestions on what was good. There a couple of tables inside & out front of the store. Definitely will return with the rest of the family!

The anticipation during the Covid lockdown was massive! Oak Park would have an arcade ice cream…read moreshop! And the first year this shop was opened was really fun. We brought our friends and family to enjoy. But the last time we came, I was really let down. None of the games were turned on and I have toddlers who got very frustrated until I came to figure it out. If you ever have been to a real arcade you will be left down by the cheap knockoffs that are here. Plus the Pac-Man game had a broken joystick. Best parts: they have two great Lactose flavors and they will sell you cones without ice cream in them. It's a nice place to grab and go, but don't waste time sitting inside.

I'll start off the review by saying I'm not the target demographic for this establishment. It seems…read morelargely targeted towards kids, which is fine. I was excited about Sticks and Cones because I had worked at a bubble tea + frozen yogurt for years when I was in high school and college. I was quickly disappointed when I got there. I decided to order a bubble tea / boba, not sure what they actually call it on the menu. (Fun fact: east coasters call it bubble tea, and west coasters call it boba!) I ordered the drink with boba, which is denotes the standard tapioca pearls at all other boba establishments I've been to, but there seemed to be confusion when I didn't specifically specify tapioca pearls, so make sure to be specific. The tapioca pearls were very undercooked. The pearls also didn't seem to be in a sweetener, so they were very plain. What really upset me was when my husband ordered the Thai tea. The person behind the counter did not know how to make it, and when they asked how to make it, the response was, "this doesn't use tea, this uses only powder and water." The powder wasn't very high quality, because when mixed with water, it created this creamy and lack of Thai tea taste. I think this is why that at the place I worked at, we also brewed actual Thai tea from tea leaves to mix with the powder. It also took 15 minutes to make for some reason. It seems that boba is becoming very trendy. It's sad that we are losing out on the authenticity of boba drinks. For the frozen yogurt, I appreciated that there were vegan options. However, what was off-putting was that no one would come around to clean the machines, so you're looking at a melted pile of froyo on the grates of the machines. The counters of the store were in general, not wiped down, even though there were at least a few people behind the counter, some of which weren't actively doing anything. The ice cream is from Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream, which I love. Sadly, they're a bit frugal with the serving size, or it was mostly that the ice cream was in too large of a container maybe? So it appeared like it was a smaller size. As for the arcade games, it's nice that they're not actually coin-operated, but then the downside is that you get kids monopolizing their time on a machine. For a new store, it was pretty sticky because nothing is being wiped down in between. You can bring your sweet treats to the games.
