Paradise Pool Plastering did a thorough, beautiful job re-plastering our pool and would not hesitate recommending them or using them again.

Lakeway Floors - Newly Installed Wood Steps

    Lakeway Floors

I am a local interior designer and recently used Lakeway Floors for a job. They ordered the wrong…read morecolor floors for the job, blamed it on the client not catching it in the invoice and then tried to convince me to keep the incorrect floors. I asked several times for a call with the owner, my requests went unanswered for a week. When I finally got on the phone with the owner he, again, pushed responsibility on the client, he raised his voice at me, he was sarcastic, he was defensive and he was condescending. Prior work on a 45 million dollar house was then thrown in my face as a way to justify their capabilities to install flooring. I never insinuated they couldn't lay a good product, I had an issue with the customer service. There is no reason grown men should be behaving this way. I have worked with many, many vendors and this is the exact behavior you want to RUN from when there is an issue. The reality is mistakes happen, especially in this industry, more often than not. It's how the mistake is handled that is important. The business owner should get curious about the complaint and take the bad experience as a learning of what not to do on the next job. There is no reason to be hostile during a conversation about a mistake the business owner's team had made. And there is certainly no reason to blame it on the paying customer. I'd highly recommend looking elsewhere for your flooring needs. Edited to add I am the one who hired Lakeway Floors, aside from signing the contract, I was the primary point of contact. My client hired me because they don't know anything about replacing floors, they leaned on my expertise. Regardless of being the main point of contact, my client didn't want to be involved as she couldn't answer the questions Lakeway Floors was asking, they tried to push me out of all communications. This makes me believe they want to deal with someone who doesn't understand the process and what should be expected so they can easily gaslight them which is what they did to her. They told me SHE was to blame for signing off on the wrong invoice they compiled and sent her. Also important to add she is more furious about this experience than I am.

The owner came to our house to discuss our options and take measurements. Both installation crews were great. The wood installers did a high quality install, the wood stairs and floors look great, the attention to detail on steps, the edges was great. The carpet crew, a different crew, also did a great high quality job. I would recommend Lakeway Floors to anyone.

We highly recommend Watermark & Company and Mike Paclik and would encourage you to include Mike in…read moreyour list of potential remodelers. I am a construction attorney and know very well the problems that people can have during a residential remodeling project. Because I know what can, and often does, go wrong, we had delayed starting this major project for several years. After our experience with Watermark, however, we wished that we had done this project years earlier. We couldn't be happier with the final results, how quickly the work was done, the quality of the work, and the adherence to the budget. Our architect prepared some initial sketches and we met with Mike to discuss the project and to get preliminary pricing. Mike quickly returned the estimates and with enough detail to make important decisions about the scope of the project, and changes that needed to be made in order to fit within our budget. We went through this process several times until we finally settled on the final scope and price. When we began the project, my wife was about 7 months pregnant (and we have a 2 year old) and we were concerned about lead-based paint in our house, which was originally built in 1962. Mike did the lead tests, which revealed some lead paint in old cabinets, and gave us detailed information about the EPA's new lead-based paint guidelines. Ultimately, the cabinets were removed (intact) to avoid creating excessive amounts of lead dust. During demolition, our architect commented that it was an "extremely clean demo" and in about 3 or 4 days, everything had been removed down to the studs, including the old Saltillo tile, and ceramic tile in the bathrooms. During this process, we met several of Watermark's subcontractors including the framer, plumber, and electrician, all of whom were extremely competent, friendly, and focused on the task and getting it done right. I frequently found the plumbing, drywall, and painting subcontractors working on the house well past 6:00 pm and even on Sunday evenings, in order to maintain the schedule. Throughout the project, Mike was regularly on site and anticipating upcoming issues. He communicated with us about potential issues that may arise, the need to address certain issues while they were exposed and easily accessible, and kept us focused on making selections (tile, plumbing fixtures, light fixtures, paint colors, etc.) to avoid any delays. We were motivated to complete the project as soon as possible, because we wanted to move back into the house as soon after having our second child. All of the major work was completed 2 weeks before the completion date, and we moved back into the house exactly 1 week before the completion date in the contract! In addition to finishing ahead of schedule, Mike was able to complete the project on budget. With any remodeling project (especially older homes) there are a number of unknowns that will undoubtedly occur. We encountered our share of issues, but Mike always kept us informed of the issues, and discussed the costs ahead of time. Even with the unknowns and the unavoidable additions/changes that occur during any project, we were able to complete the project in line with the budget. [You should budget an extra 20% for any construction project. Ours was only 10%]. It is obvious that Mike cares about the quality of the work and wants his customers to be happy with the finished product. On almost every occasion, Mike had already identified issues that needed to be correct before I could bring them up. He expected his subcontractors to perform the work to the same level of quality that we expected, so we were always very satisfied, especially with the final result. To sum up: this was a somewhat demanding project because the house was fairly old and required a significant amount of work, I'm a construction lawyer who is hypersensitive to potential pitfalls, my wife was pregnant, and we both had high expectations for the finished product. Not only was Mike willing to take on this project, he completed it on time, on budget, and with fantastic results!

They were on-site to monitor the crew, followed the project plan, gave valuable input on our design ideas, and save us money on more than one occasion! I just came up to my 11 month ownership "walk through" and brought up that my huge Silestone covered island had some issues with the finish. It looked like something was left on it after installation and during the final stages of construction that left streaks all over it. I could not get the streaks off with anything. They sent out a warranty repair worker with Summit to take care of the problem and he did an outstanding job. This fellow went above and beyond - giving me great tips about what to use to take care of the Silestone in the future (diluted Dawn and, for tough stains, Mr. Clean Magic Erasers - who knew?). The streaks, fortunately, were not etching, but some sort of plastic residue. He used a razor blade to clean them all off then washed and cleaned the surface repeatedly until he was satisfied and then buffed it to a shining finish. He clearly took great pride in his work. Definitely a 5 star job.

I've been to a dozen slab yards and although this looked nice, it was the worst service. They said I had to make an appointment to come view the slabs, which I did. When I got there, 5 women were sitting behind the desk looking as though I was interrupting them doing nothing but sitting around. It was incredibly awkward and unwelcoming and I felt like they were all judging me from the very moment I walked in for some reason; maybe because I was wearing a mask and they weren't. Whatever the reason, I felt very uncomfortable around them. Very odd cause my experience with Austin so far was everyone's so nice here. I'm not even sure why I needed an appointment; no one else was there and I just walked around alone without any help. Their quartzite selection was very limited; Austin location seems to have more selection, and has great inventory online. In any case, I wouldn't give this place my business; I ended up getting 3 jumbo slabs elsewhere. The business owner replied to a similar review 7 years ago saying they pride themselves on customer service. 7 years later, nothing has changed and the reviews are still saying the same thing. There's a clear pattern of poor service here and nothing being done about it.

They have a big facility, very slick with an overhead pick crane (the other yards used modified forklifts). The slab selection was not as extensive as I expected from the size and sophistication of the site, unfortunately, it seemed on par with Young Stone and less than Pacific Shore Stone. On the bright side they do have more of a marble selection, and their (awesomely decorated) showroom (with gorgeous bathroom) has a bunch of backsplashes on display. Worth a visit if you're picking out rocks.
