I switched pool companies after the communication and scheduling fell apart. Like a lot of people here, I read the reviews and called. My service manager is Bobby, and he is training a whole crew in preparation for summer I imagine. Bobby is straight forward, efficient, welcomes questions, explains things and if you tell him something isn't quite right, he resolves it. Communication is terrific from Patriot. Sure, you get a standard readout of the service, but there will also be notes from the team answering your question, recommendations, etc. Sure, I'm new, only 2 months with them, but so far, stellar service. read more

I'm kind of baffled by all the positive reviews for this company. We have had consistent problems with Patriot since not long after we started using them in 2022. The weekly pool service is generally fine, but if anything goes even remotely wrong (which it will because they're scaling rapidly and training new folks), Patriot is nowhere to be found. In the time we've been using them, they've incorrectly cleaned our filter twice, stained our white pool tiles, and caused our skimmer to operate incorrectly. It has been pulling teeth to get them to return to fix it - many calls over many weeks, and at present, our skimmer and pool tile are still not resolved. In the case of the skimmer, our pool has an in-ground cleaning system and generally stays crystal clear throughout the spring months. Twice now, Patriot has come to clean the filter, and the skimmer has stopped operating immediately after. The first time, a tech returned a week or so later and told us their filter crew had forgotten to switch something to do with the skimmer back on (it was immediately fixed once he corrected it). This time, it stopped operating correctly immediately after the filter-cleaning again (same timing, same issue) and Patriot (after failing to return our calls, then sending people who weren't trained to investigate or resolve the issue three separate times) is telling us there's nothing wrong. This has been going on for well over a month at this point, and apparently we're going to need to pay someone else to come out and fix it. In the case of the pool tile (see pics below) Patriot acknowledged fault for the issue, and tried a number of tactics to resolve it, none of which worked. So it seems we're stuck with the stains. There are lots of pool companies in Austin. I'd recommend you go with a company that stands behind their work and fixes their mistakes. read more

We have been using patriot for over a year and I have to say this is the worst experience we have had with a pool company to date. Their people are unreliable and inexperienced, they have caused several thousands of dollars or damage to our pool through their negligence and our pool has been mostly unusable this summer because of the issues caused by their team. For context the pool was a couple of years old when we hired them and In perfect condition and working order. When I asked to escalate my concerns over my pool being missed again, he said he was directed to not bother his manager Bryce with customer service issues and that he would not reach out to him because he needs to keep his job. These guys really do go the extra mile for their customers. I had an older single speed pump and older Aqualink board. The worst case scenario happened when the pump arced and went to the board as well. I had to replace both the pump and board. Chris answered question after question from me with great advice and answers. Maurice came out and installed the pump standalone just to get me back up and running as soon ad possible. Colin came out and did the board install and spent a lot of time getting everything right and up to date by installing new actuators and cables as well as the board. There was an issue with the pump due to some rain and both Chris and Maurice got up early on a Saturday and drove an hour into the office just to get a new pump for me installed for the Labor Day holiday weekend. If that's not great customer service then I don't know what is. These guys are simply the best! Very appreciative of their efforts! read more

As a business owner (service company...I know that it's impossible to be perfect and I certainly don't expect perfection from others. I have had a pool service for over 25 years. On 4 or 5 separate occasions the pool tech turned the valve in the wrong direction and caused a gasket to break. This was not only confirmed by the tech but also from the owner of the old pool company. We have seen this happen many times before. I switched to Patriot when the old company lied about some charges (said they were free and then sent a bill for 170.00), IT HAPPENED AGAIN, with Patriot. They absolutely refused to take ownership of the problem that they created. I spoke to at least 3 different people (some managers) and they all refused to replace (probably a 3 or 4.00 gasket). I realize they are not perfect and gave them an opportunity to fix the issue they caused but across the board, all that they kept doing was denying that they caused it and refusing to fix it. read more

Nick, our weekly service person, has been great. He is very proactive and anticipates our needs before we know what they are.

We have used Patriot Pool and Spa for several repairs and would not consider using them again. If you do choose to use them I would highly suggest you communicate in writing and save copies of what was agreed upon. This has helped me on several occasions when working with them. The first problem was a minor one, but if I had not kept good notes and emails I would have been covering the cost of their mistake(s). "It appears like the timer for my pool pump is no longer working (photo attached). When I look through the visual motor check it does not appear to be moving. The timer for the polaris pump is moving and still working." The tech who came out replaced my polaris timer instead. When I pointed out that they had switched the wrong unit they tried to bill me for the labor both times. After speaking with the manager, Nathan, he sent me the following email, "I'm just going to resend the last invoice as complimentary. This one just looks bad. I'm sure it's been frustrating for you to have to deal with." That never happened. We still got an email a month later, "Just reaching out today in regards to a past due invoice that we have on file for you in the amount of $234.01" After sending them my emails showing a zero due balance it was finally rescinded, "Gotcha! Thanks for those notes - our scheduling/invoicing software doesn't communicate with our accounting software, so I was seeing that invoice as still due. I've got everything updated now, so your account is good to go!" Good thing I kept good notes because they apparently don't. They replaced our pool pump in January of 2021 and had to return to fix it less than 18 months later because the brand new pump cracked. Here is that email exchange. Me, "We had our pump replaced in January of 2021 and on the paperwork it mentions a 2 year warranty. Would this not be covered by warranty? I'm curious what the charge of $882.92 would be for. Also, are we sure the entire motor needs to be replaced? Could the issue be something less intensive?" Jamaar. "The charge would be to replace the motor of the pump, but that won't be needed because it is under warranty, so we will get you set up for a warranty visit." Good thing I kept good notes because they apparently don't. They replaced our Polaris pump in April 2022 and had to do a warranty call for that twice in about a year because it kept leaking water. One repair was January of 2023 and the second was June of 2023. I understand that people make mistakes and things may be defective, but I did not like the lack of customer service time and time again. When they did the basic minimum to fix things under warranty they made it seem like they were doing something extra or doing me a favor by making things right. Combine that with them twice trying to bill me for things I shouldn't have been billed for and I would never want to use them again. YMMV. read more

This company is absolutely amazing! We are purchasing a home with a pool. Apon inspection of home we discovered major issues with pool. Patriot came out not one time but two times to make sure prev owners who live in Alaska are aware of the major issues at hand. Sadly the recent polar vortex cracked our pool filter and we were left with an expensive repair. After calling our usual company (Aqua king ) they came out and then totally ghosted us and went MIA. We found another company referred to us by a friend and they also ghosted us. Do people just want to quietly quit everywhere lately? After being stood up by the two other companies, we called Patriot due to the great reviews and referral from neighbors. They were able to access the damage, order us a new filter and install it in a week while giving us advice on how to turn our swampy green pool back to normal. Updating my review: I really appreciate how Patriot admitted fault and then went above and beyond to fix everything. The guy who came to fix it made a small error but Nathan immediately rectified the situation and all is well. I'm not a hater so they deserve the update. Very disappointed with this company. Used to be a good company but they have declined over the years. My parents were loyal clients for many years, I believe well over 20 years. And as they got older they charged more for very little. When my parents got Covid in the winter I wanted to pause the service. I was trying to lower their monthly bills. Well they refused to do that. Now that I have hired a new pool service High Tide, I realize just how bad Patriot Pools service was. High Tide gives a detailed report of what is going on with your pool and what they've done to improve it. High Tide was surprised to see the state that the pool was in. (Patriot pools were just there last week) They found issues with the valves and corrected the Algae and got the pool looking great. They told me there was no excuse for the pool to look as it did, if it had been only a week. I had just paid Patriot pools for their $400 service in March for that green pool. Don't use Patriot pools. High Tide has better rates and better service. read more

We have been with Patriot Pool & Spa for over 7 years and for the most part very pleased with not only our cleaning tech but the repair department and overall customer care. Over the years we have certainly witnessed turnover with the cleaning techs. Some were better trained than others but in the end our pool was handled properly. The past several months though care for our pool and equipment deteriorated. Giving "thumbs down" to cleaning reports, speaking to the tech on property as well as calling to speak with the department lead and sending photos of how our pool was left got us nowhere. Promises to send a more experienced tech to clean our pool, follow up communication and more all fell through. Their techs way over chlorinate the water. They don't adjust their chemicals. My pool kept registering at over 5 for chlorine which is not swimmable and can harm a person. They never addressed it. Using these guys for over a month. They spend no more than 4 minutes on their cleaning service. (I have them on my camera) the guy just removes the leaves, puts chlorine and leaves. No brushing, not checking the filters (my main filter pump was off for over a week and he didn't even notice or point it out), no backwash on the filter... nothing!! WORST SERVICE EVER! I cannot say enough good things about this pool service. I have used Patriot for two pools for almost 2 years at properties we own and they are such a pleasure to work with. There are very few businesses that go so over and above on customer service. It's as if Hal does a casting call for the nicest, most patient people when he hires. When I have needed repairs, I have found their pricing to be competitive and the most important thing is I trust them. I manage the chemistry at my personal residence but they are always eager to help and educate me with any questions. I have them on weekly service at one of my AirBnB properties and am super satisfied with the results. One of the things that stands out is their communication. As a client, they always keep me in the loop about what is going on, what to expect, and any changes are always sent out in advance so that I know if I will have a different service person (along with their picture which is very nice when you have people entering your back yard). Of course, the guys are always in their Patriot shirts and trucks so it's very professional. I love doing business with great companies and Patriot Pools is one of my favorites!! I recently had a complicated filter equipment slow leak. My usual "go to" pool repair company could not get me on their schedule quickly. They recommended Patriot Pools! I called and Chris got back to me quickly. I sent photos and he shared what he thought was the problem and provided a quote. I got on the schedule in less than a week! Dan, the pool technician assessed the situation and gave me the possible scenarios, both best and worst. It turned out the best scenario!! I maintain my own pool and had unrelated questions about my pool pump schedule and speed. I knew the pump was not set up to be efficient as it should have been---- he confirmed and offered to reprogram it for me! I appreciate everything they've done to correct the situation. They are scheduled to come out Friday 5/3 so I can update again afterwards. Update 2 5/4/19: Ted from Patriot came out yesterday and switched out the motor and mounting bracket and got us back up and running. He was professional, courteous, knowledgable and helpful. Nathan followed up and made sure the job was taken care of. They really turned my experience with them around, and I would definitely recommend them to anyone. I can see why they have so many 5 star reviews. I would really love to give Patriot Pool and Spa my business, but they just don't seem to want it. I called initially on Thursday 4/25 to have someone come out and repair/replace a pool motor and I was told I needed to leave a message and have someone call me back. That's fine, I understand it's the busy season. No call Thursday, no call Friday, no call Saturday or Sunday. I call back Monday morning 4/29, I'm told my previous message is in the system but I leave another one and am told someone would call me back. Surprise surprise, no call back. In the meantime my pool water is getting in worse condition. I wait until Tuesday afternoon 4/30 to call back, was told by the operator they see both of my messages and they are not sure why someone has not called me back...but would I like to leave a message. Being a first time pool owner, the experience can quickly become confusing and frustrating. After 4 pool companies we finally found Patriot Pool and Spa and we are raving fans! Our pool tech, Jessica, really rolls up her sleeves on a weekly basis to keep our pool in great condition. When we had a small issue with our pool, she recommended a course of action and quickly got our pool in great shape. She even visited our pool on non-scheduled cleaning days to check on the progress of the pool. We even had a repair done to our equipment and Patriot was quick to schedule the appointment and even quicker to repair it. It was so quick we didn't even know it had been done!
